Barnes, Leslie and Jimmy interview Tammy Oldham Ashcraft, the author of Red Sky in the Morning, about her harrowing journey at sea. In 1983, Tammy and her fiancé, Richard Sharp, set out from Tahiti on a sailing trip to San Diego, but they were hit by a Category 4 hurricane. With only a 44-foot yacht, they tried to outrun the storm but ultimately capsized. Tammy recalls the dramatic events, including surviving for over 40 days adrift at sea, after her fiancé was lost in the storm. She shares the physical and emotional toll the ordeal took on her and how it led her to write the book. The conversation also covers her survival instincts, navigating with limited resources, and the long road to healing after such a traumatic experience.
