Barnes and Leslie talk with Chantelle Rytter, the creator and director of the Atlanta Beltline Lantern Parade. Chantelle shares the origins of the parade, inspired by her time in New Orleans and a desire to create a night-time parade on the Beltline. She explains how people can participate by making their own lanterns, with workshops available for both elaborate and simple designs. The event, which will take place next Saturday, May 3rd, runs from 8:45 PM to 10:00 PM along the Southwest Beltline, starting in Adair Park and ending at Lee and White. Chantelle also talks about how the parade has grown and the creativity involved in making these illuminated lanterns.
