The Cool Dad Foundation is a non-profit organization that was established in 2012 by Bongani Luvalo and a network of friends in Kwa-Thema, located in the East Rand after the realisation that many fathers play very little active role in the development and upbringing of their children. In the 70s and 80s a movement of fashion lovers became strong, those who loved good quality brands saw themselves as a group with more social relevance and they enjoyed the applause cheerleading. They dressed in razor cardigans, Brentwood and if they wearing a Florsheim or Saxon shoe and these shoes were called Rashushu in a township lingo which meant “expensive and good quality shoes”.
