In 2016, Louisiana experienced a 1,000-year flood event that meant three times as much rain as Hurricane Katrina. Disaster relief nonprofit The Provisions Project stepped in, supplying clothing, food, bottled water, meals and beds for people whose homes were flooded. TPP Executive Director Annette Girman joins the show to talk about how the nonprofit has grown quickly in the last two years; why disaster relief is needed long after a storm is no longer a news story; and what the future of privatized disaster relief looks like.
