New Pa. school board group has ties to parental rights movement; Pa. looks to erase $400 million in medical debt

 A new statewide organization bills itself as a resource for all school board members -- regardless of political ideology - despite Pennsylvania already having a longstanding professional organization serving that purpose. What the Pennsylvania School Directors Coalition's website doesn’t detail is its leaders’ history with the state’s conservative education movements.

An estimated one million Pennsylvanians are dealing with medical debt. Under Governor Josh Shapiro's budget plan, about $400 million in debt would be erased for low-income Pennsylvanians. 

Pennsylvania is handing out $3.3 million to fund pre-apprenticeship programs in agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing, and gaming.

A Lancaster County community will suspend its donation to the Lancaster Public Library in response to a planned Drag Queen Story Hour that was canceled amid a bomb scare last month.

The former police chief in a Northumberland County community has pleaded guilty to theft charges.
