Election day is here (finally).

View descriptionShare

Today is election day. Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. Poll workers sometimes have to quickly problem-solve to make sure all eligible voters are able to cast a ballot. Counties have backup plans for when issues arise.

Pennsylvania voters are deciding whether to keep Democrats in control of the state House and the Republican state Senate’s majority. They will also decide who should be running state offices that prosecute crimes, handle billions in public money and keep a watch on how that money is spent.

Tamper-evident seals, law enforcement, lots of forms and signatures are all tools used in the secure transport of ballots from precincts to elections offices.

York County commissioners are dismissing 354 challenges to overseas voters, decided by unanimous vote Monday afternoon. More than 3,300 challenges remain to be decided in nine other counties across the state.

Political campaigns have been consistently using door knocking, emails and phone calls to nudge voters. But, the non-stop text messages have drawn the ire of swing state voters this cycle - especially in Pennsylvania.
