Brutal heat may stick around through June; Indoor heat exposure big threat during high temps

View descriptionShare

Central Pennsylvania is experiencing an intense heat wave. Compared to other years, the heat is hitting the area particularly early.

The heat wave could last through at least Saturday --with temperatures reaching the high 90s. So, what's the connection to global warming?

The region is under a heat advisory through Saturday. The hot temperatures can lead to poor sleep, cardiac and respiratory stress,  and heat exhaustion. A majority of heat related deaths are caused by *indoor* heat exposure.

Police in Adams County have rescued dozens of animals inside a school bus and trailer.

An apartment building damaged in the deadly explosion of a West Reading chocolate factory last year is being torn down.
