Stephen Grootes speaks to Andrew Bahlmann, CEO of Deal Leaders International about Sanlam’s proposed buyout of Santam’s remaining shares for R505 a share, a 26.6% premium to Santam’s 2 October closing price. Sanlam, which already owns about 63% of Santam, wants to take the insurer fully private and delist it from the JSE, A2X and Namibian Stock Exchange. The deal still requires shareholder and regulatory approval, with Santam’s independent board unanimously backing the transaction.
