FNB and RMB drove the underlying performance, with profit before tax rising 12% and 15% respectively, while the group absorbed a significant provision linked to the UK motor commission matter. Despite the provision, FirstRand delivered its highest-ever dividend payout and has raised its ROE target to 21%–26% for the year ahead.
