Major exporters are urging political leaders to urgently back a Free Trade Agreement with India, warning against “playing games” with access to one of the world’s largest and fastest‑growing markets.
In an open letter released today, leading figures from New Zealand Inc. highlight the opportunity presented by India’s 1.4‑billion‑strong consumer base, which is expected to become one of the world’s fastest‑growing economies by 2030.
The letter calls for bipartisan support, stressing the importance of removing politics from the process and focusing on the long‑term economic benefits for exporters.
Signatories are urging the Government to move swiftly to secure the deal, describing it as critical to future growth and global competitiveness.
New Zealand’s Special Agricultural Trade Envoy, Nathan Guy told Mike Hosking it's time to get on with the deal.
