There's growing calls to boost the health system in order to drive economic growth, and BusinessNZ has outlined its concerns.
The list of Health Priorities calls on political parties to take a smarter approach to health spending, including increased Pharmac funding, better workforce planning, and more opportunities to adopt medical technology.
BusinessNZ CEO Katherine Rich says good health policy is good economic policy, and it's important to look at healthcare as an investment.
"If you invest well and differently, it means you can get people back to work...there are some concerns that we have had for a long time that we don't get the proportions of the health dollar spent in the right places."
