Roman Catholic parishioners and political leaders gathered at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Johannesburg for a memorial mass in honour of Pope Francis.

In Ekurhuleni, another fire has erupted at Tembisa Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has announced that electronic voting is unlikely to be implemented in the upcoming local government elections.

In legal news, the murder trial of Sandton teacher Kirsten Kluyts has been postponed until May.

Also delayed is the case against two suspects allegedly involved in a hit at the Wynberg Magistrates Court – postponed to allow one of the accused to secure legal representation.
