Johannesburg Underground Fire Update: Clearing the rubble in the tunnels where the fire destroyed City Power's electricity infrastructure will continue this morning.

Two men arrested in connection with the murder of five-year-old Ditebogo Junior Phalane will appear this morning in the Pretoria North magistrate’s court. Gauteng police arrested the duo in Soshanguve in two separate locations on Wednesday. The funeral service of Ditebogo Jnr Phalane online. Israel is set to present its counterarguments at the ICJ today after South Africa approached the court yesterday asking for it to order Israel to stop its military operations in Gaza, as it sought to show the court Israel’s genocidal intent is growing. Rescue and recovery operations at the 75 Victoria Street building collapse site in George will cease today, and access to Victoria Street will remain closed from York Street. Rescue workers and other role-players have been on site for 259 hours. Four suspected criminals have been shot and killed during a shootout with police in KwaXimba near Durban. The Makhaza Community in Khayelitsha will finally get their police station – it’s been nearly two years since a site was identified for its construction. But this is only a temporary structure. The case of South African athlete Caster Semenya returns to France's European Court of Human Rights. The trial against alleged underworld kingpin Nafiz Modack will continue in the Western Cape High Court. The COSAS Four case has been postponed because of applications the accused have brought challenging the charges of crimes against humanity that they’re facing and challenging the TRC’s decision to refuse them amnesty. The Police ministry and Western Cape SAPS management will host an imbizo in Nyanga. We take the opportunity to ask SAPS about efforts to address crime in CT. There's been an uptick in crime. President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the NHI Bill at the union building.
