A Mail on Sunday investigation is bringing to light a little-known issue that could affect the eight million Britons who take antidepressants. Experts have warned of sexual dysfunction related to commonly given SSRI drugs that can last for years after patients stop taking them. The Medical Minefield team meet Lee Thomas, who has been left with permanent erectile dysfunction after stopping SSRIs in 2019. Had he known this was a possibility, he says, he’d never have taken the drugs in the first place. Meanwhile, Dr. Joanna Moncrieff, who is investigating the harms of antidepressants, and Dr Ellie Cannon explain what we know about the science behind the phenomenon.
