It's podcast.
Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only game show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer new Art, and today we're joined by Steve Yanni, Brody Randall, Krin, Seth Chester and Mark. This is normally a ten round quiz show with questions for meat eaters four verticals, which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking. But today's game will be a bit different because this is our one hundredth episode. Thank you Steve. When we started this and get our first round of trivia way back in twenty twenty one, did you think this concept had one hundred episodes in it?
Oh, definitely you did.
I don't know if you remember, but the first day we walked in, we were.
Going to say something otherwise.
No, you were. You were incredibly optimistic, like intimidatingly. So you're like, now, what is this thing we're doing today? And I was like, We're gonna like play trivia with you guys, and you know, I'm hosting you guys. Have the provide the answers and stuff and explain it a bit to you, Like give me an example question. So I gave you an example question, like we should make a board game about this.
Oh, so you're way too.
Optimistic based on one question I gave you. And now we've made a board game. And here we are on episode one hundred. Now, for today's episode, we're not playing trivia. Instead, we'll be playing a game that I'm referring to as the meat Pole like poll instead of pol e This is a test of how much you know about your fellow hunters and anglers. I serve a two hundred and fifty outdoorsmen who are meat Eater employees and meat Eater listeners. They were asked questions about personal experiences and personal preferences. Your job is to predict their answers. Here's how the game works. There will be one round per player. That means for today's game, there will be eight normal rounds with one bonus round at the end. Each player will take a turn as the guesser. When it's your turn to be the guesser, your you'll answer a question that's related to my polling data. All answers will be in the form of percentages. Then, after the guesser has provided their number, our other players will predict if the real answer is higher or lower. The guesser will receive points based on how close they are to the real answer, and the other players will receive points based on if they are correctly if they correctly choose higher or lower. I know this sounds.
Complicated because thing you did.
We will we have two practice rounds. I know this sounds complicated because it's new. I promise they'll catch you on right away. The hardest part of the game is actually scorekeeping, which Phil is doing for you and for our players at home. You can check out the description of this podcast episode for how scorekeeping works. You'll find all the information you need there. Now, before we play, we're going to do two test runs to make sure everyone is comfortable with this concept. These do not count. These are simply practic. This rounds okay. Now, for the first practice round, Yanni will be the guesser. That means Janis will provide the answer, and after he's done so, everyone else will predict if the real answer is higher or lower than Yannis's answer. So Yanni is the guesser for this question. Here's your question, Yanni, what percentage of Americans think the moon landing was faked? So now you'll think out loud.
Here, it's not one percentage of Americans because you one percent of survey those surveys.
But I'm giving you an example of some real like Pew research. There's not part no, this was this is specifically to Americans. Yanni, think out loud, talk us through your answer, how you're going to arrive at your number, and then you'll write down your number for the whole room to see. So your question is what percentage of Americans think the moon landing was faked?
I know it's a thing, I've heard of it, but I still think that it's a very small number. Huh, so small that it might not even be a whole percent.
So yeah, go ahead, go ahead and write down your number for what you based on that.
I'm gonna go with three. Do you need a decimal?
No, just just three percent. So we now know Yanni's number is three percent. You will have written in on his whiteboard. Everyone else in the room, the other seven players will say if they think the real answer is higher or lower than three percent, what.
If everyone were to answer fifty?
Well, but you'll find you find that episode, you'll find that the questions aren't necessarily meant to split it on.
I'm going to dominate this I'm predicting that.
Steve knows his fellow hunters and anglers well, so higher lower, Go ahead and reveal your answer.
We have chests.
You're saying lower than three percent, Brody saying higher, Randall's saying higher, Set saying higher, Karen saying higher, Steve saying higher. The correct answer is eleven percent, So nearly everybody correctly predicted which direction the real answer would be. As far as Yanni's part of this game, he said three percent. He was eight points off of the correct answer. That would be worth seven points. In how this scoring works, the scoring if you nail it, if you nail it right on the nose. So say the answer is fifty and you say fifty, that's fifteen points that you get. If you're one off, that's fourteen. If you're two off that's thirteen, three off that's twelve. This goes all the way to ten. If you were ten off of the correct answer, that's worth five points. For everybody else who predict who correctly said higher, you get five points.
Good luck.
Phil.
What if you're like I'm then you don't get points if you're more than ten off. If you're eleven off of the real answer that's worth zero.
Ten.
Isn't it weird that we haven't been back to the moon though, in like fifty years?
Number and every time about how hard it is because you have folks think the moon, because there's there's some atmosphere.
There's a lot of questions.
Yeah, okay, we're gonna do a second practice round.
A lot of people questions, we're doing a.
Second It's okay, Mark, it's okay. Steve will be the guesser on this One's That means Steve will provide an answer, and after he's done so everyone else will say, I it's the real answer is higher or lower?
I'm up.
This is a second practice round. Okay, we're not to the real game yet. Again, and this is not my polling, This is like Pew research. Here you go, Steve. What percentage of American adults have TikTok? This is as of twenty twenty adult someone over eighteen eighteen? Yeah, what what you're not?
Well?
I don't think they would have some weirder definition.
Percentage of Americans over eighteen have TikTok.
If you'd like to word it that way, I think we'll arrive at the same outcome. What percentage of American adults have TikTok? Would you like to talk us through how you were arriving at your answer. You're just gonna play quiet, okay, Steve, go ahead and reveal your answer. He is saying twenty percent. So now everyone else say higher or lower than twenty percent. Steve is the guesser, so he came up with a number or other seven players are writing down if they think the real answer is higher or lower than twenty.
I'm assuming we should hide our boards when we're doing that. Yeah, when we're.
Playing the real game, go ahead and hind your boards. Now, go ahead and show your answers.
We have chess.
You're saying higher, Brody's saying higher, Mark saying higher, Randall's saying lower, Seth saying higher, Karin saying higher, Yanni's saying higher. The correct answer is fifty four percent, Steve was thirty four percent.
Of people need to You must be wrong about what an adult is.
How many people in this room have TikTok's illegal to Montana, isn't it?
Phil? Tiktoko?
Okay?
Two people?
So this room is fifty four percent of adults.
I think that's adults between eighteen and thirty.
Four, eighteen, eighteen, and nineteen.
Well those are still okay. Good thing is it doesn't count.
It was just a practicektok.
He's very good at TikTok.
And I don't think that the folks who work am mediator necessarily a direct reflection of a lot of the American public.
Okay, Now, before we get started, let's talk a bit of strategy. As a reminder, this data is based on my survey of two hundred and fifty meat eater employees and listeners. That broke down to about fifty meat eater employees and two hundred listeners. If that helps inform your answers at all. These were not just some yahoo's I grabbed outside of a seers in Kenosha. Now, next, your best opportunity to score points is by doing a great job when you're the guesser. You can earn up to fifteen points as the guesser, while everyone else can only earn five points by correctly answering higher or lower. So your one opportunity as the guesser is very important. Your other best chance at scoring a lot of points is in the bonus round. At the end, I'll explain those rules when we get to it. Also, if you're playing along at home and want to see how you stack up against the room, then randomly pick a number between one and eight. That number will be when it's your turn to be the guesser for every other round. Just base your higher lower answers off of the guesser on the podcast for keeping score. Again, check out the description of this podcast episode so you know what everything is worth. And just like with every other episode of media or trivia, there's five hundred dollars on the line. Our winner. We'll get to choose where the conservation donation goes. What do you got, Brody?
That's what I was going to ask. I was going to ask if you're doing something special.
Five hundred dollars, the special part which Steve didn't care for. I'll explain Steve, why you don't think this is a good concept for it.
Well, he's doing tho.
He's commemorating the one hundredth episode by doing something different. And I said, if you were if you hit your fiftieth wedding anniversary, you wouldn't go on a date with another lady, And if you went to the one hundredth anniversary of the big mac Burger celebration.
It wouldn't be like, yeah, and we're serving quarter bounders.
That's yeah, I follow you. My my I could go on, sure, my rebuttal would be I'm so I'm so confident in this concept that this will become regular part You're not like the chek question, Okay, didn't like it.
Wasn't that I think it's too complicated for people.
No, it's very simple, very very simple. I promise everybody.
People like things like.
Playing the drop.
Phil. Here we go, I need to know what I.
Thought we'd have a fresh drop.
It's time to change everything.
We're going to go clock wise around the room, will start to my left. Here up first is Chester. He will be the guesser on question one, Chester the guesser. Here you go, Chester.
That's it.
The question you'll be answering is what percentage of anglers would rather fly fish than ice fish?
Chester?
That is the number you need to come up with.
Now.
When I did my polling all of the US, no, no, no, no, no. This is based on my two hundred and fifty people I pulled. And if a question says for anglers I identified, I said, only if you identify as an angler. So if Phil, if Phil took this survey and he didn't say, you know, he doesn't think he's a fisherman, he wouldn't answer this question. So Chester, it's what percentage of anglers would rather fly fish than ice fish?
M I'm writing down higher? Okay, I don't even know what he said.
Chester, walk us through how you're going to arrive at your answer.
Uh, one more time. These these folks that you pulled were in our organization.
Okay, two hundred and fifty people. Fifty of them were meat eater employees, two hundred of them were meat eater listeners.
Gotcha all right?
What percentage of anglers would rather fly fish than ice fish?
I think since there is, I'm going to say more people would rather ice fish because they're meat eater listeners.
If it were the.
Office, I would definitely say people might rather fly fish because it's very attainable to us.
I would throw in that we're in the Northern Tier.
We are in the Northern Tier.
In the middle of ice fishing season, so they could have just got burned on the ice.
Still be blinded by We've had a terrible ice season.
Chester can make people nostalgia and they might say.
What Steve recently said, which is I quit ice fishing.
I am going to say twenty percent of people would rather fly fish than ice fish.
Twenty percent. Everyone else needs to predict if the real answer is higher or lower than twenty percent. Here's the question one last time, what percentage of anglers would rather fly fish than ice fish? Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Brody saying higher, Mark saying higher, Randall saying higher. The entire room said higher. The entire room is right. The correct answer was sixty one percent, forty one percent off from the right answer. A twenty eleven US Fish and Wildlife study found that about two million people ice fish each year compared to five million people who fly fish. So those numbers aren't too off of my polling when it came to fly fishing versus ice fishing preference. What do you got, Randall?
I think if we do this again, we should have like two paddles instead of writing higher lower. I think it'd be way more fun.
Because it wouldn't be that you wouldn't need that many paddles, right right, you ping.
Pong, You have the right in the green.
Side and that time you do this, you know what you should have done. You really missed an opportunity.
Okay, what do we got?
Well, the once every seven year survey US Fish and Wildlife Service survey came out. I would have done this whole show based off of that brand new survey data.
We're just doing the polling data for this from our would have people. Okay, but you also you also don't like when there's any potential for someone out activity A Sears in Kenosha answering these questions.
I don't think it was and Sears and because all of them would have said I.
We're on to question two.
That might be the line of the year.
This will be for Brody. Brody, what percentage?
Just like I can tell you where he didn't do that.
Brody is now the guesser, Brody, what percentage of outdoorsmen would rather get attacked by an alligator than a mountain lion? What percentage of out doorsmen would rather get attacked by an alligator than a mountain lion?
Now?
The US Fish and Wildlife Service study did not address They did not address this specific data.
Like you spent how much real Brody?
Talk us through what you're thinking?
There's not not much to it. I just think less people would rather get attacked by an alligator than more.
Okay, a percentage about doorsman would rather get attacked by an alligator than a mountain lion.
Well, here's the deal.
Mm hm, back when I got to check.
By a mountainline, you're probably not gonna get that bad killed.
Okay, the gator gater, you're in trouble, okay, and then all the infection sets in.
I might even make my answer a little low.
I'm talking now, all right, he's going to death roll you. Yeah, you're getting limb ripped off, and he's gonna bury under a log, rotten log.
I don't know if people are considering all this.
They were they were simply asked, would you rather be attacked by an alligator?
Or amount's picking at the question.
Okay, I'm ready, Brody, go ahead and reveal your answer. We have Brody saying twenty five percent. The other seven people in the room now will write down if they think the real answer is higher or lower than twenty five percent. So what percentage about doorsman would rather get attacked by an alligator than a mountain.
This means that twenty five percent would prefer an alligator seventy five.
No, I don't think that's what you wrote.
That's correct, that's what he's saying.
He's saying twenty five percent would prefer a gator.
Yes, that's what the question asked. What percentage of outdoorsman would rather get attacked by an alligator than a mountain lion? Brodie saying, I feel like he's kind of got it right on the money there. You gotta pick either way, and that's why it's trade.
It's very for you a flat line.
It's very important for you to do a good job as the guesser because you can really throw off the rest of the room. If you say you're right on, you can split the vote.
Job.
I know, I'm just I'm explaining why. Here's where Okay, I can't wait to hear this.
Well, you're not thinking about how they're thinking.
Okay, is everybody read a classic beginner's mistake. Go ahead and reveal your answers again. They're deciding it's higher lower than twenty five percent. We have Chest you're saying higher, Mark saying higher, Randall's saying higher, Seth saying lower. Krinn and Yanni and Steve also saying higher, the correct answer is thirty one percent. He was only six percentage points away. Everyone else in the room correctly said higher, except for Seth. Now for being six off, Brody, you got nine points. Well done. According to the Florida Museum, there's a four point three fatality rate when it comes to gator attacks, and according to a twenty eleven study from the USGS, there's a fourteen point five percent fatality rate when it comes to cougar attacks. Despite this data, to hit me with that again, four point three percent fatality rate for gators, fourteen point five percent fatality rate when it comes to cougars. Now, despite this data, my polling showed that people would strongly prefer to be attacked by a mountain lion.
What do you think of that, Steve? Yeah, because I would get him by the upper and lower jaw, just.
Which one the gator?
No lying, Okay, we're up. You're not gonna do that to your gator.
I feel like people survived gator attacks because the gator just like bite your arm, does the twisting thing and swims away.
When you're gators might just be more careless and haphazard in there.
I think that they they're kind of like they start attacking it, and I've seen footage it looks like they forgot that they're attacking you.
But again, also let's look off in another direction. That's the thing.
I would rather be killed by a mountain being killed by poor opening.
They don't, they can't open with a lot of Yeah, it'd be hard to probably be killed by like a five foot gator something like that. Those aren't gonna be lethal. I don't think.
Me and Crinn are on to a podcast guest too. He's written two books investigating black bear attacks, and he's into sumo wrestling.
Okay, what are you gonna tell you about bear?
The minute I saw sumo, I was I was in. But the bear thing is the main thing we'll talk about. I'm going to touch on sumos.
So thirty one percent of out doorsman said they would rather be attacked by a gator than a mountain line running questions three, wrestler or a bear run to question three. This is for Mark Kenyon. Mark, what percentage of out doorsmen have fallen out of a boat?
Includes me?
Okay, so it's the meat eater audience and our crew.
There's a lot of people that do a lot.
Of stuff in the water. Yeah, so I'm gonna say it's a pretty high person put down higher.
What percentage of out doorsmen have fallen out of a boat?
Okay, Mmm, this one's gonna be hard.
Mark shirt really brings two shirt ideas together, brings together to very it's a shacket. Well, sometimes you'd be like, let's gonna wear a flannel. How do you half of the other the other half days I'm like, where my hoodie?
How do you know that that that that little white V in there isn't connected to that shirt?
To shirts that'd be incredible.
It's like the Bozeman uniform that can comebine.
He's like, flannel hoodie? How about my flannel.
HOODI Yeah, man, there's a thing called decision fatigue where you just have like too many decisions to make throughout the day and then you get bad. So I'm just gonna stick with the same thing. YEA, get sixty five of those sixty percent.
Mark says sixty percent. The other seven players will now decide if the real answer is higher or lower than sixty percent.
Is the teacher built in? It is not that built in? That's a good idea.
Yeah, what percentage of outdoorsman.
You just tuck it.
It's a separate yes, Dicky.
Chester, do you have an answer? Is this idea just waiting on? Chester? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Chester saying lower than sixty percent, Brody saying higher, Randall saying higher, Seth saying lower, Karn saying higher, Yannis saying higher, Steve saying hi. Here the correct answer was forty six percent.
It was fourteen per se off.
I think we had Seth and Chester correctly predicted that it would be lower.
There.
You ain't living if you're not falling out of a boat.
Yeah, surprised by that.
At drinking in this room is falling out of a boat?
Everyone but Courrint okay, oh everybody? Everybody?
Well, are you counting when your boat, like a canoe flips? That's like there was a boat.
Need to stay upright, No, I think any kind of thing are you falling of?
At fall off of a boat.
Yeah, here's a video I took.
You might have been confused when you asked me that question.
The question was have you fallen out of a boat. I think it's pretty straightforward.
No picture a third picturing falling out of a boat which remains on pre right.
Steve is telling the two hundred and fifty of you who took this pole that you are wrong.
Not paddle boards count.
Here's a video I took in twenty fourteen when I worked for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. We were setting gillnets for paddlefish in South Dakota's White River when the boat hit shore and through the other biologist into the water. Play the clip, Phil oh Man, I was the one who did not fall out of the boat. There.
Nice.
Yeah, you had your camera ready. You didn't say anything.
You're just waiting.
You're not even a chuckle.
You just saw the chuckle there. It was kind of serious for a second. We saved you. That was question did not did not survey run? Question four? This is for Randall. Randall, what percentage of hunters said they'd rather kill a boone and crocket elk than a boon and crocket white tail?
This game's cart to catch?
This was also not in the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Get what percentage of hunters said they'd rather kill a boone and crocket elk than a boone and crocket whitetail? Walkes? You're thinking here Randall.
I mean, I don't know that sort of the average person who doesn't live in the West envisions of boone and Crockett elk versus just a big bull. White tails are very popular and there's a lot of cachet. They're so measured.
Yeah, talking about about moose, they just got the hunt moose twenty years. You've tell them what your moose scored. They wouldn't tell you. Talking about yeah, yeah, the trick is an elk?
Are so aspirational?
Mm hmm, Now this isn't this is would you what would you rather kill?
So?
Right, percentage of hunters said they'd rather kill a Boone and Crockett elk than a boone and crocket whitetail. And again the question was for hunters. If Phil took this survey and he doesn't identify as a hunter, then he didn't answer this question.
When we already know that more would rather kill the elk.
Well, I mean, you don't know if Randall knows that.
Well, the question says that, well, they could be.
The percentages are not say that because the last question, remember we had thirty one games. Say, oh geez, Randall, what percentage of hunters said they'd rather kill a Boone and crocodile than a Boone and Crockett white tail, say forty forty seven percent, Spencer forty seven percent would rather kill a Boone and crocodilk than a Boone and Crackett Boone and Crockett white tail or other seven players are now writing down if they think the real answer is higher or lower than forty seven percent. Yoanni thinking real hard I do.
They just want to kill an out, but they want to kill a big.
There's certain things like with prong hornon. Very few people you know, run around and when you said, someone's.
Like, they're gonna tell you, They're gonna tell you what They're gonna be like, I got a sick that like, I got a seventeen inches, but holy call this big.
And that's proa as far as they'll ever take it. Yep, that's pros far as they'll ever measure it.
Everybody ready, people are gonna be like, I want to get a six point or something, But.
What if, like you getting in Boone and Crockett whitetail means that you're better than to yourself, better than all the people who hunted whitetail. And that's what because more people hunt white tail.
Oh, I got you, so that especially.
I mean you could also think of it. Are they being offered a trip to kill a Boon and Crockett?
Would you put that in there the question would you rather kill a Boone Crockt, Elk or a Boon and Crockett? Go ahead and reveal your answers. Chest you're saying higher, Brody saying lower, Mark saying lower, Seth saying lower, Karn saying higher, Yanna saying lower, Steve saying lower. The correct answer is seventy two percent.
You know what they do, just want to go elk.
Yeah, that's what I was That's what I was thinking. I feel like everyone opportunity to.
Everyone in this room would probably say elk.
I assume no no white tail all day.
Okay, so two of you, here's the deal.
We're saying like.
They're saying that would then mean that I got to go on a really good elk.
Come sure.
Might not matter.
It's all part of the thinking of it. Would you rather kill?
You're making that you're making that mistake earlier.
That I've been told that that was my best chance at scoring a lot.
Of There are eighteen thousand white tails in the Boone and Crockett record book, compared to three thousand elk that three thousand figures counting American elk, Tu Lee elk and Roosevelt elk.
Hit me that again. Eighteen and three.
Eighteen and three. Phil, we're halfway through this game. Give us a scoreboard update. These numbers are gonna sound a little funny.
Yeah, let's see. I mean it's pretty close. Let's see.
Steve, Jannis, Seth, Randall, and Mark all have ten points. And then coming up next we've got Brody with fourteen and tight in first place are Chester and Corinne with fifteen points.
Wow.
I love this whole new type of winner.
We had to question five.
Karen hasn't even gone yet.
I know, but like Krien News, you get your teeth kicked in. But she knows what's in people's hearts.
Fifty year old white guys beware.
Question five. This is for Seth Seth. What percentage of anglers have hooked someone else while fishing?
Oh?
Man, I have hooked someone else while fishing. Again, this question was only for anglers.
I was gonna tell a quick story.
I was fishing steelhead one time at the sixth Street damn Grand Rapids, Michigan, and uh, you kind of wade out on these rocks and sort of like whoever can whoever gets there earliest and wades out far this is the winner because there's this big trough in the middle and all the fish pass up this trough. So I'm out there, and then if someone else is out there, you just get as close as you can possibly feel comfortable getting so that you can fish that right. But I was out on the perch and there was a guy doing just what I would have done to him, which is get as close as you can possibly get. At one point he says, hey, what's your name, buddy? And I said Steve. He goes, well, Steve, I think I snagged your waiters.
Have anyone have you been hooked? Yeah?
Yeah, couple.
This is tough because if you're talking about anglers spend like a lifetime of fishing, huh, Like yeah, probably everyone's done it.
But if you're talking to people have just done it, like fished a couple of times.
Fifty med Eater employees, people fish like twice a year.
Kylie Archer snagged me in the cheek. But I've been working here for a one month, it's.
Great my answer, Seth, what is your answer a.
Man kind of change? No, I'll stick with it.
Okay, what you got?
I have forty one percent?
Seth says forty one percent or other seven players will now decide if the real answer is higher or lower than forty one percent. Is everybody ready? Everyone but Mark was quick to answer. Seems like this room has a good track record of hooking other folks. I mean, are you ready?
There's probably people that have hooked others clothing, but not more.
Than same thing as one right top of the head one time. Go ahead and reveal answer. If you said, identify.
The top of that person's head, yeah, the exact top that's roight got her, not off to the left and off to the right.
Go ahead, reveal your answers. We have Chester saying higher than forty one percent, Brody saying higher, Mark saying higher, Randall saying higher, Krinn saying higher, Yanni saying lower, Steve saying lower.
That would have been in nineteen ninety nine in uh Rocky Creek, not far from here.
The correct answer is forty nine percent. You did not get it higher was the correct answer. Seth was eight off of the correct answer, which means he gets very seven points. Well done, very good seth.
I would have been really close had I done the white tail bull elk answer for this question.
Pat Dirkin Internet That Helps. Pat dirk In interviewed a Wisconsin doctor who removed hundreds of fish hooks from anglers in his career. He told Dirk that musky anglers are the most humble victims, but that most fishermen are very embarrassed. Here's a quote from that doctor. Experienced guys are humiliated. They tell us over and over how they've been fishing for years and how they've never had this happen before, and it seldom their fault. They usually blame their buddy, the wind or a rogue wave. To read Pat's full story, go to the mediator dot com and check out his article called human Catch and Release Tails and tips for unhooking anglers That scar there, Yes, that's from a hook from yourself or someone else.
Got myself.
Taught you a lesson.
You know, I got my thumb right there once too.
One musky hook they hit. There's two in her and they made that big slit to get them back out.
And my friend had in my friend's house when I was a little kidd and his ma looked at it, and she said, you better go show your ma that want to deal with it.
We're on to question six. This is for Carinn Karn would be the guesser what percentage of out doorsman said they'd rather win a fifty thousand dollars boat than a fifty thousand dollars pickup.
Talking about a great boat or a used truck.
Well, it's like this though, man, you already got a truck exactly.
Yeah, you guys are helping out Korean And it's like if you go to your spouse and say, hey, I'm gonna buy a really expensive boat boat, you get that.
That's not that's like you get a lot of people can get shot down. But how many but you already got a truck.
But how many people want maybe a better truck instead of a boat because they don't want to boat.
But wait, trucks are now the pricing.
You're gonna wind up with a boat that would otherwise give you a real pain in the ass to get your hand time.
She could probably put the game away here with the real solid Guess.
What percentage of out doorsman said they'd rather win a fifty thou thousand dollars boat than a fifty thousand dollars pickup. Maybe maybe they're trying to trick you, Karin, since they know you're in the lead.
How many are afraid of the water.
Yeah, they could have our audience, and.
Like maybe a truck is just more useful, so they'd rather truck.
How practical is I'm not doing well today, but I can tell you.
What she's in the lead you need to put.
I should be listening to.
Her, Corrin with this question, like if you don't identify as an angler, this is for outdoorsmen.
For outdoorsmen. So, Krinn, what percentage of outdoorsman said they'd rather win a fifty thousand dollars boat than a fifty thousand dollars pickup?
If you've changed it to five hundred thousand dollars, you.
Have your answer, Karinn, go ahead and reveal your answer. We have Karinn saying thirty three percent. So everyone else now identify if the real answer is higher or lower than thirty three percent. It's everybody ready.
I mean all pickups cost fifty grand or more of these days, right.
What percentage aboutdoorsman said they'd rather win a fifty thousand dollars vote a new pickup than a fifty thousand dollars you.
Just like even at Tacoma is close to that.
Now go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Chester saying higher than twenty or.
Thirty three.
Everybody says higher. Everybody's wrong. The correct answer was twenty seven percent. Really, Karen was only six off, which means she is awarded nine points as he knows what's in people's hearts.
From now on, I gotta find out what people think about something to.
Ask Karen there you go inside, what's everybody wanted for dinner night? Krin, She'd be like, passa, damn.
It, I was gonna make taco.
What will people think of this tattooed k.
A twenty twenty one article from Action water Sports said that new boats have a thirty percent depreciation in value at the five year mark, and a twenty twenty one article from Motor Trend said that new pickups are the exact same, with a thirty percent depreciation of value at the five year mark, So either one of those choices would be worth thirty five thousand dollars by the year twenty twenty nine. Run to question seven, This is for Yanni. Yanni, what percentage of hunters have inherited a gun? What percentage of hunters have inherited a gun? What do you think in here?
Yanni?
How many guns have you inherited in your days?
That would include inheriting one from a friend or does it have to be like passed down?
You don't mean like a hand me down like probably a question.
The question for the two for the two hundred and fifty pold was have you inherited a gun.
That implies or death? To me? In my boat?
I don't think so.
I think it would be if your if your father passed a gun on from your late grandfather, so there could be a live to live transferral.
Your own definition of inheriting.
Well, then you'd be like, did you inherit it from your grandfather or get it from your father?
You know No, I think that'd be inheriting from your grandfather, a family inheritance. But I feel like that's how I would explain it.
If my grandpa gave me something, he dies, Okay, my grandma dies, my grandma says he always wanted you to have this gold coin, then I give it to Randall.
Would he say that he inherited.
It if that's not the being used, and he would say he got it it was grandfather to father.
To I'm simply pointing out the distinction between a grandfather handing on a gun and then the middle man sort of giving it up before he leaves the earth, versus your dad going out and buying a gun that doesn't shoot for shit and then giving it to you. Two years later.
My boy has possession of his great grandfather's nineteen oh three Springfield.
I think did he inherit at that?
I don't know, because the his uncle.
Is that right, his uncle handed it to him and he was not close to death. I would say that very healthy underlying gun says you'd appreciate this and hands it to him.
Yehn inherited.
Yes.
So the question was what percentage of hunters have inherited gun? Yanni says twenty percent for his answer. So there our other seven players need to say. If the real answer is higher or lower than twenty percent, what percentage of hunters have inherited a gun? It's everybody ready.
Suck this go ahead.
It'd be kind of embarrassing if I be kind of embarrassing. If you were to happen to declare yourself being great at this game too. Right beforehand, we have chest. You're saying higher than twenty percent, Brody saying higher, Mark saying higher, Randall saying lower, Seth saying higher, Karn saying higher, Steve saying lower. The correct answer is seventy two percent. My god, anyone who said hi is correct? Seventy He inherits hit a gun? Yeah, how many people in here.
Of inheriting minah?
Okay?
Several y?
Yeah?
The four.
I heard mine man was in the will.
No, like they died and we took it.
Has either a twenty seventeen study there to stop us. A twenty seventeen study from the Pew Research Center found that thirty percent of American adults own a gun. Of the seventy percent who don't own a gun, slightly more than half said they could see them selves owning a gun in the future. Phil, we have one question left. Give us a leaderboard update.
Yeah, do some quick, Matthew, give me a second.
That's a great line of questioning. Could you see yourself in the future blank?
Yeah?
Yeah, all right here.
Have you ever had a triple long? John Dona?
Have you ever flown up noself having one in the future tied up in last place, our Stephen Ranella and yanis true.
Tell us next. We've got Randall with fifteen Seth.
It's like inverse. It's inverse trivia expertise.
Seth has twenty two, Brody has twenty four, Chet has twenty five and did I did I do Mark yet? Mark's got twenty Sorry, you've got twenty Mark And in first place by I don't know pretty wide margin is Careen with thirty four points.
Well, yeah, karenn we got question e and then the bonus round. Question eight is for Steve. Steve, what percentage of out doorsmen think Bigfoot is real? Steve? If you had to go around this room and look at folks, what would you say? How many people in here do you think believe in Bigfoot?
Zero?
Zero?
Zero? Okay, we can find out the answer after. For now, though, you need to figure out what these two hundred and fifty people said. What percentage of out doorsmen think Bigfoot is real?
Steve? But you know where a bigfoot nest is?
Smelled it?
My body smelled it.
Steve came up with his answer. He says nine percent, nine percent of outdoors man think Bigfoot is real. He's very eager to come up with that answer.
It it's one of those questions where it's like, how many think Bigfoot's real? Or are they asked answering the question how many think it's funny to respond.
To survey because people ironically like big point.
Yeah, okay, I got eight down.
Steve says eight.
If you put a gun to their head.
You other seven. Do you think the real answer is higher? Lower than eight percent?
Really?
How much credit you want to give these outdoors?
Is everybody ready? No?
Yeah?
Could you picture in the future.
Higher or lower than eight percent? Taking her go ahead.
There's no way I can earn twenty four points on this question.
Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Chesters saying lower than eight percent, Brody saying higher, Mark saying lower, Randall saying lower, Seth saying lower, Karinn saying higher, Yanni saying lower. The correct answer is nineteen percent.
I think we have.
Rody and Kin.
Steve.
Steve just want changing out of the running for having noise And did you were eleven off instead of ten?
That's the cut I would have just got that.
You would have gotten five points there.
But well, people, yeah, I.
Don't know who you're pulling.
Yeah, I just told you many a times who I was pulling your listeners? And when are colleagues?
How many percent of meat eat employees?
Can I see the tink a little pull out who?
Specifically?
A twenty twenty study from Civic Science found that eleven percent of Americans believe in Bigfoot, which means that outdoorsmen are more likely than the average American to believe in Sasquatch. That Civic Science poll also found a correlation between household income and believing in Bigfoot. They learned that the less money you make, the more likely you are to think Bigfoot is real. Their data showed that forty three percent of adults who make less than fifty thousand dollars per year think Bigfoot is real, and fifteen percent of adults who make more than one hundred thousand dollars a year think Bigfoot is real. It's the less money you make, the more likely you are to believe in Bigfoot. Who in here believes in Bigfoot?
Well, if I was broke, i'd change the way. I think that's the probe Guessing myself, I'll.
Tell you what I found out what it is.
It's not my job.
Phil, give us one last scoreboard update before we do the bonus round.
Yeah, Joannis and Steve still have ten points, and then we've got randall of fifteen, Mark with twenty, Chet with twenty five, Brody with twenty nine. Oh, sorry, Set's got twenty seven, and then Kurinn thirty nine points.
Now, oh, Karen.
The bonus round is worth of a lot of points though, so this could all change.
Oh.
Here's how the bonus question works. I asked two hundred and fifty outdoorsmen for them to rank these animals from best tasting to worst tasting. You need to place them in the correct order. For every one of these you get right, you'll receive five points. That means this final round is worth a max of twenty five points.
So here you go.
Rank the's in order of what outdoorsman said is the best tasting animal to the worst tasting animal. Feral hog, white tail squirrel, black bear, wild turkey, Sorry, best to worry, best to worst. This is what our two hundred and fifty people said. So your best tasting animal will be number one. The fifth best tasting animal will be number five. Five choices are feral hog, white tail squirrel, black bear, and wild turkey. For each one of these you correctly place in the right spot, you'll be awarded five points.
Oh, seth, I screwed up. You don't have twenty seven, you have twenty two. Clarify, Thanks Phil, Yeah, you well appreciate that, Spencer.
I wrote my top two really big, and so the rest are abbreviated, and they kind of go in a trianguler o.
Hay to erase and wiste any ink.
No I wrote. I wrote the names that I just have the numbers next and names. I didn't rearrange them.
Okay, yeah, we'll figure it out.
Unless I can steal Karna points in this round, I don't think there's well you.
Can get twenty five. So anybody who is within twenty five of Karen or twenty four, because Karen could potentially get all five wrong and one of you could get all five right, I guess I do. Can happen?
I have fifteen, right Phil?
Yes you do.
And this is going to take a little bit for Phil to keep up with scorekeeping, So well, hey, take our time.
Yeah, you're.
Kind of kind This is almost anybody's game, But to have to.
Get one in the right spot.
Someone else, you know, Randall, there's other players here who are closer to Karin.
Well, they're all playing from their own perspective and I'm playing from mine.
Is everybody ready? You have these ranked one through five, Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Chess saying one white tail, two wild turkey, three squirrel, four faral, hog five, black bear. Brody saying the exact same thing. Mark saying one white tail, two turkey, three hog, four, squirrel five black bear. Randall saying white tail one turkey, two hog, three squirrel four, black bear five. Seth saying white tail one turkey, two squirrel, three, black bear, four hog five.
I mean exact same answer.
Karenn saying turkey one white tail, two squirrel, three, black bear, four hog five. Yanni saying white tail, one turkey, two hog, three squirrel, four, black bear five.
No wait, this is not my personal feelings.
Steve saying white tail one wild turkey, two squirrel, three, black bear, four hog five.
What kind is?
We have a few of you who got it right on the nose. The correct ranking is one white tail, two wild turkey, three squirrel, four, black bear, five feral.
Hall twenty five points. Right here, Steve.
And Seth, we're gonna do a clean sweep there. They've got twenty five points. Corinn, who is in the lead, has three of them. Correct, she's got fifteen. Brody and Chester what do you guys? Both got three each? They got fifteen? Marcus, how'd you do? Marcus? Got two of them?
Right?
Randall? How'd you do?
Uh?
Two of them?
Right? Phil? Like how he's gonna get out of the head.
Well, I just know I didn't get it perfect, so I didn't count.
Up to Phil.
When you're ready, I can go ahead and tell us the score from worst to best.
All right, I'll take your time, Phil, I'm doing this the old fashion ate with pen and paper.
You see, get it right? Phil?
In last place? Jannis putell Us He with twenty points.
John, he does not know his fellow outdoor has been very well.
Next up, we've got Randall Williams with twenty five points.
Either does Randall?
Coming up next? Mark Kenyan has thirty points.
Nice go, I really jumped up in the.
Right Stephen Ranella has thirty five points.
Not far enough.
Chester Floyd has forty points. Brody Henderson has forty four points. And who do you think wan between Seth and Krinn'd be?
This is a mean trick.
Karenn wins with fifty four points. Seth had forty seven.
Krin Kurenn.
That's why she produces the number one hunting and fishing podcast in the world. She knows hunters and anglers that well. Job Krinn.
Quinn.
This is like your first trivia victory.
It's my first real victory because the last time.
I won it was they gave you the answers.
Yeah, how that still is like and your head sort of a win, there's still losing.
Her head is like kind of how about this?
Is this a real win? Stevers this kind of a leg?
Yeah, that surprises me.
She knows how all through not either just all through down the well done.
You get to choose, Well, what I want to know? How you know, Krim, how she feels, how she thinks that she did so well?
You mean like my my rationale or my reasoning.
Yeah, why do you know more about hunters and anglers than Steven Yanni?
Uh?
I mean I wouldn't say that, but I don't know. It was just like an intuition I wasn't for for most of the answers. I was pretty certain hit.
Me with the truck one, so she was only six points off the truck.
What are people thinking? So?
I think that a lot more people, even if they have a nice truck already, potentially wouldn't mind a second one for free for fifty grand as opposed to a boat, Like what's you know, utility? They'd use it more than using a boat.
What's the thing?
Um?
Now, I'm sorry to think that my logic was convolution.
They'll get something they wouldn't normally have.
They would they would get something that would be otherwise out of reach.
Yes, the thing I get the truck and then sell my old one makes it mounting.
Yeah.
One of my favorite things about Karin is how she psychologizes, like everybody she beats. If I complain about something, she'd be like, well, it's obvious that person has just like a deep seated hatred for their father and their older brother had to step in.
You can really see it in their eyes.
Karin, you get to choose with a five hundred dollars donation from meat Eater goes, what's it going to be?
Let's make it the rough Grouse Society once more, because that's where I donated last time, I didn't actually win nice and Clean, and we don't we don't donate to them as regularly.
That's a good read. What do we think of the meat pole concept? Would you play this again? You're okay with that?
I like it.
I like that it gives people a chance who aren't Randall Brodie Steve.
I have to know a little more about the polling, Yeah, comfortable?
What more would help you?
We would well, I would like to know if out of fifty employees, is there one that really believes in Bigfoot?
If you said, like if you were saying, if you if you said sort of like randomly generated names from a list compiled in such and such way, right, I just get more comfortable with it then I would be if I'm not really sure who you're talking about, how you selected them?
Is there dad out there? Like to know, like roughly how many people intentionally lie or give the wrong answer?
Well, there's two hundred and fifty of them. Here's a pulled so they can't. You know, one person trying to mess with the data can't do a very good job.
If you had a national database of in some states, you can just get it. If you had a database of If you just said.
Hunting and fishing, hunting and or phishing.
License holders in America, and I serve a two hundred and fifty randomly generated holders of valid hunting and or fishing licenses in America.
I'd be more comfortable with the game.
Why Because I feel like it was more randomized, leading to a greater general representation.
Steve didn't win, and I think I'd be more apt to play if you actually pulled people out of a Kenosha parking lot. O. Yeah, we'll do that.
