Guests: David Witt and Russell Stendal | Julian Gibb interviews David Witt and Russell Stendal of Spirit of Martyrdom - Part 1. At age 4 Russell prayed to be on the mission field, and at age 8, he was on the mission field with his parents. As a young adult, he was taken captive in the jungle by terrorists in the guerrilla camp. Russell tells his story, saying, "I felt the Lord was going to get me out of it. People were praying for me all over the world. I felt like there was nobody worried about them, and that's why I focused on trying to reach them."  Russell continues, "At first they wouldn't let me talk to anyone. They just gave me a notebook and told me to noodle and keep my mouth shut. I was tied up, but there was enough slack in the rope to write a book. And so I wrote a book reaching out to them, called, "Rescue the Captors"; I wrote it in English. When I got to their names, I spelled it real clear.  The commander looked at that and he was overcome with curiosity.  So they ordered them to bring a typewriter and paper, and a desk, and lengthened the cord a little bit, still tied to the tree, and type this out in Spanish for them. And it was like playing Arabian Nights, and they would sit there fighting for the sheets as they came off the typewriter.
