From the hills of Limpopo to stages and academic institutions around the world, few people have done more to preserve and champion indigenous African music than Dr Sello Galane.
A musician, composer, researcher and cultural activist, Galane has dedicated much of his life to Kiba, the vibrant song-dance tradition of the Bapedi and Northern Ndebele people. More than a musical genre, Kiba is a living expression of history, identity, storytelling and community, carried through powerful vocals, movement and the distinctive sound of the dinaka reed pipes.
