John Maytham is joined by Faez Poggenpoel, chairperson of the Kalk Bay Cooperative — the only fishers’ secondary cooperative in the small-scale sector — and a fifth-generation fisherman from Kalk Bay. He has been closely involved in the fight to protect small-scale fishing rights and understands first-hand the cultural and economic importance of the industry.
