Afternoon Drive with John Maytham

John Maytham is a trained actor who made the switch to radio over 20 years ago when he joined the news team at Radio 604.

He then swapped reporting for anchoring an AM drive time show at a national talk radio station.

Once he set the bar for South African news and talk radio he accepted the challenge to join Primedia Broadcasting and help establish the newly founded CapeTalk, fulfilling the role of both News Editor and Breakfast Host.

He was the first host to switch on the mic on 14 October 1997.

Years later, he was also the first radio broadcaster to do a Google Hangout in South Africa.

South African singer-songwriter Bongeziwe Mabandla has built an international following with his distinctive blend of isiXhosa folk, soul and electronic music. Born in the Eastern Cape, his deeply personal songwriting and acclaimed partnership with producer Tiago Correia-Paulo have earned praise from audiences and critics around the world. He joins us to discuss his latest release, Walila, and the continuing journey of sharing Xhosa soul on global stages.

The South African Post Office is seeking to exit business rescue after a dramatic financial turnaround that included major job cuts, branch closures and debt reduction. Business rescue practitioners say the organisation is now technically solvent, with losses significantly reduced and its balance sheet restored to positive territory.
