In this edition of Our Burning Planet on CapeTalk’s Afternoon Drive, Graeme Raubenheimer is joined by environmental journalist Ethan van Diemen to unpack Eskom’s controversial new direction for South Africa’s coal-fired power stations. Departing from its original Just Energy Transition (JET) commitments, Eskom is now exploring plans to repurpose ageing coal plants to run on gas, nuclear, or even so-called 'clean coal' technology.
