To understand how a South African studio pulled off such an ambitious project, Amy MacIver speaks to Phil Cunningham, film maker and co-founder of Sunrise Animation Studios. Cunningham has decades of experience in animation, from the stop-motion classic The Legend of the Sky Kingdom to the international hit franchise Jungle Beat. He shares the story behind David’s long development, the challenges of animating humans in a faith-based narrative, and the global collaboration that brought this 30-year vision to life.
