Jenkins and Jonez - The Darvin Ham Cup

The guys discuss Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks defeating the OKC Thunder to win the NBA Cup, and Aaron Rodgers being Aaron Rodgers #volume

The Volume.

Welcome to Jackinson Jones on The Volume podcast network. It's Tuesday, December seventeenth, and it's our NBA Cup Championship Special edition. Thank you to everyone hanging out at YouTube dot com slash at Jenkison Jones Live.

We want to hear from you in the chat. We all just watched the NBA Cup Championship game. The Bucks beat the Thunder ninety seven to eighty one, and we are officially renaming the NBA Cup the Ham Cup. Darvin Ham undefeated through two years in the NBA Cup. Tyler, you're a Ham expert, describe the Ham Cup as it needs to be packaged.

Please.

The Darvin Ham Invitationals are starting to call it, which that has wild though he's been on both of the championship squads.

Undefeated.

Yeah ye, but yeah, bro, it's I mean, I was on the wrong side of my prediction. I had okay see, I had okay see with it, but it was just you just I mean, it was just Yanni's dog tonight. Like that's the simplest way to put it. You just saw how that dude was just heads and shoulders, the best player on the court and SGA's the top five dude in my book, But it's just levels bro Like tonight, I feel like it you can possibly say that Yannis might have Joker or whoever you had in pole position for the MVP by a nose right about that.

I think there's very few players like you talk about, like Shack back in the day. Michael Jordan obviously had his own set of rules where NBA defenses are treating him like he's the.

Kid in fifth grade who went through puberty early.

Like he's holding the ball on the elbow and there are five defenders like around.

Still figured it out.

The second half was like, that's noting again, you know what I mean, crazy crazy different, It's different. So yeah, yeah, I was surprised at how SGA looked as consistent as he is, as.

Solid as he is.

I was just like, I don't know if I've seen a game where SGA looked up a half where SGA looked like he did in the first half. I mean, he shot one that was like a foot and a half away from the room, and then we at the beginning you heard that kuiping him and he was saying like I'm ready to shoot tonight. No you weren't, brother, No, one and nobody, nobody else one of your team was ready to shoot either.

That was a stinker.

So, yes, Gianni's played good, but OKC looked the opposite of how they looked.

You know what I'm saying. For this season so far, they looked bad.

Yeah, but but I you know, I think, yes, they looked bad, But I think you have got to give the Bucks credit the way that they've been playing defense on this stretch, as they seem to have figured things out every it's They are the same thing that the Thunderwear, where everyone on that team knows their role defensively, they gave up. There was a three pointer where like six seconds left or whatever by the thunder That was the only thing that kept them from having the lowest point total of any NBA team in any game this season. Shay y'all mentioned eight of twenty four from the field, two of nine from three. They were five of thirty two from three in the game. And you know, yeah, obviously you shoot that poorly. Some of it has missed open looks. But I thought the Bucks did a great job of blowing up a lot of what they want to do. And for being honest, we talk about Giannest. But look at the negative side on the thunder, like, this is why I don't trust young teams until they do the shit.

In the playoffs.

Bro, Like, they look like the moment was a bit big for them against the MAVs last year.

You got this is the NBA Cup. This is not fun like this is well, how else do you describe these these boys? How else do you describe thirty one points in the second half. I don't know, but if that but.

To your point, if that moment's too big for them, that should be concerning for the team everyone assumes is coming out of the West.

I think Sga being good is more important to them than I thought it was, because I think once he gets going, I think it opens up a little for a few things. But he couldn't get to his spots, you know what I mean? Like that every like, how many open shots do we see Sga ta Like, it seems like Sja is always taking open shots no matter how good the defense is. He finds what he into a spot and get open. He just there were so many shots. I'm like, that's not a like they take good shots, and they were taking a lot of He was taking a lot of contested, you know, jumpers more than I normally see. So yeah, but I don't know if it was just the bright lights. Bro, that's coract. If we're saying that about the mid season tournament, G that makes you think me think totally different about this team in the long ruw.

Bro, I'm not saying it. I'm not saying that's just what it is.

I'm just saying it's like, either this is a meaningful game and I think both teams want to win.

There's literally money on the line.

Right or and like the Lakers made a big deal out of that, Bron and ad are playing for the dudes on the end of the bench should get paid all this other stuff, or the game doesn't mean anything, in which case it's still like either way, you score fourteen points in the third quarter, you got some splaining to dude. Yeah, they scored thirty one points in the second half tonight.

Of an NBA game.

Bro.

Not good, not good. Bro.

We were like, Bro, anything we said about the game, this is a stinker. Like that's all in the chat. We hadn't we a couple of Yannis stats in there? You know, yo, this game is this is not a good basketball game and it was okay, so she didn't show up.

I'm glad you guys were properly talking about Shay because Darren and the chat shout out to Darren donated some money. He said, if Tatum was sticking it up tonight, y'all would have the jokes out. Treat the Canadian the same, like shit, you.

Played like shit.

I mean, I you know, I like, he almost played so bad it's not even funny unfortunately. Like I mean, also, like I cleared my schedule for this game. SG ain't bro, like I have.

You know, we here about we ended up practice early. We ended practice early so I could come back and watch this game. Bro. We stuck it up. We moved act for this game.

Yeah, but there's not as much emotion behind this as you know, you know, as other as playoffs. It's any playoff series, you know what I mean. Like, I mean, like a first round series. I think there'll be more emotion behind it than the than than this mid season cup, you know what I mean.

So like, I mean, yeah, I just.

But I think that's no but no, but I think that's part of my point is again, it's just like you're playing on a neutral court. Did the crowd like Yannis volleyball spiked a ball on Brusche's head and no one in the crowd is even cheering, And that those lights were too bright for the thunder to that.

Like, that's what I'm saying, that's crazy. I can't quite say that. I just ain't there. That was like an exhibition game. The energy surrounding it, you know what I'm saying. Like it didn't feel like a championship game at all to me watching it, you know what I mean.

So let's feel like last year's that's for sure, Oh for sure. Yeah. Yeah.

So let's let's talk about the Bucks. I believe of now won thirteen of their last fifteen games. The only two losses were to the Celtics and to the Hawks. They're averaging one of the best defenses in the league over that stretch. It's clear, both by the numbers and by watching them, that Jannis and Dame have settled into their roles. And I do think, for as as much fun as it is always to make fun of Doc Rivers, it is clear that that team is figuring itself out. And it's also clear from tonight whatever the NBA Cup means, it's clear that that's part of their narrative of we figured this shit out, We're ready to come and make a real run this year. And like Tyler said, man if Yiannis is playing that way like That's what's exciting to me is that that makes you feel like they could make a run because as we saw the last as we saw when they won the championship, he has to play like a fucking Greek god for them to actually win in the playoffs.

So and Dame looks like both players look like themselves now, Like Dame is comfortable.

You know, he knows exactly what he needs to do on that team, you feel me.

So I think it opens up for everybody else on the squad, you know, when those two guys are playing like themselves, you know what I mean.

I think it's noteworthy that in those fifteen games, Janis has been the leading scorer in thirteen of the games.

You know.

And I think part of that transition that it can't be easy for a player like Dame to make is you've been the guy on every basketball team you've ever entire life, and you are gonna have to be a leader from the number two spot on this team. You just are like it is just Gianice's franchise, Janice's City, Janie's Arena that they fucking built because of him. Like that's difficult, and I think that Dame deserves a lot of credit or clearly this year, they're much more comfortable with the even just the way they're talking to each other on the court is visibly they're much more comfortable.

With each other.

I also really liked Andre Jackson in the starting lineup for them. I feel like that's definitely a key part of their defensive turnaround. Dame has not and it didn't work last year. Obviously, maybe not because of Andre Jackson, but Dame has never had a defense this good around him, right, two defensive anchors like Joannison brook Lopez and specifically not like a wing stopper. When was the last time he had a super athletic big wing stopper being able to like guard with him. He's been always paired with C. J. McCollum in the backcourt, which is it is respectfully like it is, it's a challenge and Dame wasn't hearly himself offensively last year, which made it sort of like tip the skills the other way. But like when Dame is playing this, well, you really see how fun it is when he has a competent above competent basketball team around him.

He just looks comfortable out there like that second, you know, he just looks comfortable like And I also feel like, dang like his shot. I don't know, like steps is the purest, but it's he shoots from deep so effortlessly that fade like I mean, it's like it's like a flicker, the easiest flick of the wrists.

It's just so effortless, you know what I mean.

Like, But yeah, man, I mean he's been fun to watch me too as a guard guy.

You feel me for sure. Respected a street shark, you know what I mean. But you know, you know, you know street street sharks. You know what I mean. He was doing. He was sharking like a motherfucker.

But you know, uh, the street Shark had a couple of fun you blocks tonight, to which I love.

That he bounced off Crusoe's face.

I was like, goddamn, it was.

It was the one that right there.

Yeah, it was a one where Hartenstein was like toe to toe with him and they both went up together.

Richard Jefferson was trying to.

Be polite, but he was like, I don't know that I would go up straight up toe to toe with your honest, don't waste your time, brother, Just hand of the ball and run back and play defense.

You know what I mean?

Should they Should they move this out of Vegas? The crowd was horrible. A lot of people talk about how bad the crow was. The teams. Apparently Adam Silver acknowledged before the game. The teams are all lobbying him that they want this on their own course. It seems like next year I would guess at least the semi finals will no longer be at the neutral court. Maybe that makes the crowd in Vegas better if they're able to say the semis are on Tuesday at the home course. You got four days to get out there. But I think what we saw today was bro This shit looked like the Super Bowl. It looked like a corporate giveaway crowd.

You know what I mean. I didn't see anyone going crazy.

There was one guy yelling the free throw countdown clock, to be honest, when he was shooting free throws. But like, how do they fix that element of this?

Did that happen? Available on game time? For fifty bucks today.

I saw him like day, you know what I mean, from mooded, I'm like, damn brother, they begging.

It was eleven more like John John Nichols at that airport right now at that point, get people on the street and let them and pass them. Motherfuckers out, bro feel that arena Come on man? All right?

I mean it always felt like it was kind of like a litmus test to kind of gauge the NBA interest in Vegas, you know, because I feel like that's for sure city they're targeting as far as expansion goes.

So I don't know, I don't know where they're at right now, you know.

Being that that we saw this slow turn out. But last year, you know, Lakers of course, Lakers brond They're gonna bring everybody out.

So it's a couple hour drive is a twenty minute playing flight, Like.

I mean, that's the thing.

Like when it's okayc verse the Bucks, Like there's Vegas shit to do.

You know what I mean, I don't need to be here, you know what I mean?

Like, so yeah, it's just year to year, but I think I think I think it would work out way better and it would feel way better if they were at their own home courts or whatever.

I mean, Like we saw how fun the games were.

Like the see that the the playing games were great, you know what I mean? Those every time, every every single one I watched was fun as shit, you know what I mean. But I feel like this was just so antiphmactic, you know what I mean, at this away court, you know what I'm saying, or this neutral court type situation, like yeah, maybe the champion championship there, but if not, maybe like you played it, maybe both games are played at home game at home teams.

You know what I'm saying.

Whoever's the better record or whatever. You know what I mean, you gotta go you go away and get it and get a dub. You feel me, I'm not mad at it if it's gonna feel more if this was at the Bucks right now or at ok see, imagine the.

Energy that would have been. We would have fought there, you know what I mean, wait to get out and gamble, you know what I mean. Half did you see the did you see the halftime?

Like like I'm like, there were so many empty seats, like this can't be this many people going to get popcorn right now popcorn is not that good, nigga.

There are eight people in the seats right now. The fuck you mean?

Damn g you know what I mean? Those Vegas hot dogs are that delicious? That shit was empty. I'm like, God, nobody cared crazy.

Uh, John, you made the discovery. This did go around social media a little bit ago, but you made the discovery, uh today about Hartenstein's ethnicity. I have been calling him the yin to the Mike Tarriko Yang. Describe your thoughts you're trying. I was completely shocked, nigga.

I'm like, the fuck.

I mean, at no point that I think a Hertenstein was black, at no point, at no point, you know, like bro, like I watched the games. I don't be on Twitter like that no more. I ain't locked in like that. Half time I'm watching the games. It's a mute, nigga. I don't know what these motherfuckers be talking about. I'm just watching basket ball. You feel what I'm saying? So like, I'm not hell a hit, but I heard it cracked off in March when they did some shit that's from Twitter was telling me.

But anyway, I was completely shocked.

I was I looked like bro like that there is nothing about Hartenstein, his face, his name, anything.

You know what I'm saying. That said black to me. But actually what's crazy is like I saw him. You know he does. I'll see the like they had the little little post game interview.

I've seen a couple of them type of situations with him. I saw the video that Folk sent me wash him talking to the rest of the Knicks. You feel me, that little podcast, and like, oh he sounded like a nigga there. If I would have heard that first time, I would have been like, I might have had some questions. You feel me, Like, Okay, the way he talking to his homies, way he talked to the rest of the team, it's different how he talked to the media.

You feel me.

He was he was like you know what I mean, he was, he was little, he was moving different. He hits something with the Obama shit.

You know what I mean. He hit the media with the motherfucking Obama handshake.

Nigga Like, yeah, we were ess No, when he was talking to his homies, he was totally different.

You feel me.

I'm gonna tell you to give away from his conversation and that the let me know, Okay, this dude has grown up around black people.

He's not just saying that shit.

And you know, because his whole thing was his mom is white, his pops was half black. But he said he kind of grew up on like, you know, with the black side of his dad's family.

Yeah.

When he revert when he referred to himself as bright skin, yeah yeah, yeah, black black people say bright skin. You don't hear white people saying that shit. White people say like light skin or fair skin. Bright skin is a very black, you know statement right there. So I was like, yeah, he's been around black folks.

Black people have called him bright skin, you know what I'm saying, Like, for sure, that's what my sister, we call her bright skin.

You feel me, like, you know what I mean bright or they call it yellow.

You know what I'm saying, Like that's the type of ship like between yellow and red, you know, very it's very obvious to us. So like, yeah, so that's that's definitely a tale right there. But for sure, and he called himself black. He was like, he didn't call himself mixed under that shit. He said, yeah, I know I was black, So you know there was that too in that in that little interview they sent me, so, yeah.

I'm just replaying your entire Tariko monologue but inverting the names of ethnicities in my head right now.

I'll be another eight minutes. Sorry. I still can't believe that happened. Bro.

We still get tagged in it so regularly, and I rewatched the whole thing almost every single time it comes up.

We put that motherfucker wrang button naked on Twitter.

All best practices went against all best practices.

Had to cut off like six, like forty seconds of it because it was too it was more than ten.

Minutes, and the mother fucking still did director's cut of the Cheriko rans.

It's just like the you know, it just tails events the front of the tail, you know, part.

Of it, like it was funny, Yeah, but point of it is just like the They were just as shocked as we were, Like this.

Nigga thing he's on me like it is mind blowing.

Bro.

Mike Vick, it had been rumored, was going to take the Sacramento State job with the fifty million dollars niopool that the downtown Sacramento businesses have put together. They're building new facilities, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Would you please tell the people where Mike Vick will actually be coaching and your thoughts on the matter.

It will actually be coaching at Norfolk State University. Behold the Green and Gold, motherfucker. Oh yeah this, you know, And I'm glad that John Me and you we kicked it out there in the seven five sevens because you've got like first hand experience about how tight knit.

That community there, right.

Yeah, So you know, we got worried that Mike Vick was being considered for the Norfolk State job, and then it felt like after that we got word that he was being considered for the Sacramento State job. And the Sacramento State job, it is a job where they say they've got like a fifty million dollar nil budget, they've got a new stadium, they've got like top notch facilities on the way, and Mike Vic chose to stay home and to help bring the local HBCU to glory and to people who are familiar with the way seven five seven people do.

This should not be a shocker.

You know, the rest of the nation might be surprised with me as a Virginian and me and someone familiar with you know, people you know from the South seven how they move that's part for the course, because what they do there, they're a very tight knit community. They I feel like the worst thing you can do is someone who comes up from that area is forget where you came from, because they take giving back so seriously.

They take being connected to their community so seriously.

Like when John was out there and and we were doing the Keishawn Davis thing for top Ring, like he saw first hands, you know, so many people who were supporting him, you know, just because he was the local NORFOLKID and he's a Norfolk dude who's the number three lightweight in the world. Live lives in trains in Vegas, and he wanted to have his biggest fight back at the Crib in Norfolk, you know what I mean. So it's just it's it's it's something that, like I said, it's not surprising when you know the cloth that people are cut from in that area. It, like I said, very very tight knit community. Like to go back to the top ring shit we were at they had Bruce Smith pop out for keithhn Davis' the fucking mayor pulled up.

The mayor pulled you know what I'm saying. Right, people were pulled up in line eleven am. You know what I'm saying on a Thursday, bro. Yeah, like they it was crazy. It was crazy. Yeah.

And Bruce Smith like the NFL leader in sacks if you were creating an all time NFL defensive line, he's on that motherfucker. And he popped out on a Thursday just because it's a hometown kid who's making good, you know what I mean. So yeah, it's it's a it's a really big deal for Virginia. I think it's a really big deal for HBCUs And like I said, I'm not surprised because folks from the seven five to seven they just cut from a very very different cloth.

Man. Loyal t is everything out there, and this just exemplifies that. Also the n n IO deals like to help in the facilities.

He recruiting Mike Vick, you know what I mean, Like I would love I mean if I don't know if his appeals the same, you know what I'm saying as it was, But I'd imagine kids, would you know, just like they love playing for for Sanders, you know what I'm saying for Dion, like that's my vic you know what I mean, Like, oh, I don't you know, I think like his name is going to pull a lot of people in that way regardless, you know what I mean. So yeah, I mean obviously the loyalty for sure, but I don't think that nil money, would you know what I'm saying, is gonna be as much motivation as it is like to play for fucking Mike Vick, especially for the VA kids.

Yeah, nil money is motivation over every other thing in the fucking world right now in college sports, I do think, But Mike vic I think it is smart to understand that if it's fifty million and il Pool at Sacramento State or his name at Norfolk, Like that's.

You feel me, that's a different Yeah, sure, yeah.

He's He's the most beloved football player in the state. And this is a state that gave us fucking giants like Bruce Smith and Lawrence Taylor, and Mike vic is more beloved than both of them, you.

Know what I mean.

Like, he means a lot too, especially to these youngest, you know, to folks our generation and below us. So like, and one thing is like, Virginia is a hotbed of it's it's a sleeping giant when it comes to football talent. And we've always just known, as you know, folks living in Virginia. When we see an all time you know, great high school athlete, a five star kid coming through us, we're like, okay, this kid is playing football out of state.

There is no I'm.

Just gonna ask you, where does the average five star girl, Like, where are you expecting him to play?

Like? Person?

Person Carvin Percony Harvin seven five seven went to Florida, you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah, Percy Harvin was one of the the most you know, touted prospects, and you know during his year coming out and and you know Ronald Curry, who I've said is the best football player in the history of of of high school of Virginia high school sports. Right, we knew the whole time he wasn't going to UVA or Virginia Tech. We knew he was leaving and he went to UNC. So yeah, there is there is for sure. We do not have a monopoly where we know that if there's a top notch VIA kid, there's this Virginia program that that's gonna have first dips on it more likely, right, And I'm how do at all saying that it can be that guy and make an HBCU that program. But I for sure then he can snag a few four stars fast stars here in there.

I mean, I mean that's all you I mean, that's the like, that's that's the game. I would say, you talk about five stars. Yeah, bro, Like in the state of California, one of the top ten recruits this year signed with USC.

Everyone else went to the SEC. Like the SEC in the nil era, the.

SEC is the NFL junior and it's gonna be I think over the next couple of years, a real sharp separation, not that there hasn't already been a separation obviously, but like you just see the one kid that signed with USC. They flip from Texas A and m late like's they just spending money in a completely different way. We have kids out here, like Polynesian kids who are USC or Arizona or whatever. Someone walks up to you and says, it'll give you four million dollars to play college football next year.

Bro.

Great that you're building a new stadium. Great that this school is closer to my mom, whatever you talkalking about. I'm nineteen and I could make the kind of money that like Troy Aikman made or Michael Irviant, like you know what I mean, Like the all time greats thirty years ago. We're making what like a depth lineman at Auburn is going to be making, you know what I mean.

It's just a it's a it's a different world, Bro Jackson.

You saw like the entire USC Trojans are in the fucking portal.

They don't have a roster for their bowl game, Like like a.

Team might not be able to play in the game because their whole team is in the portal where they playing, what ball they're playing at? I don't even know yet.

Are they in the poll?

They're in the ham Cup, I don't know. I don't know there.

They're in the Las Vegas Bowl against Texas A and M.

That's that makes a lot of sense though, like after you know what I'm saying, Okay, yeah, yeah, I did not know that, but yeah, it makes a lot of sense athletically and also wild boy. Yeah with Mike Vic though, that would have been a show.

I mean I think Mike Vic DeShawn Jackson will still be. That's one of my favorite connections ever.

Bro.

There's a lot of people you can put with Mike Vic and it instantly becomes an all time, all time classic.

We want to talk about Jason McIntyre, Well, I mean you can put it out there. Come a bit on his fatherfucker Jason.

Jason McIntyre to your mother fucking ship.

Jason McIntyre went on Colin Cowherd show, went on The Herd today and said that he thought, remember we talked about the NBA ratings, and I said, all anyone is doing is going on social media and saying whatever thing I dislike about the n B a is causing the NBA ratings to go down, and.

Apparently to dislike this thing is crazy.

Though apparently what Jason McIntyre does not like about the NBA is inside the NBA, which he says has been quote devaluing the product by speaking down on teams and players.

Do you agree?

I think that you can say that, you know it absolutely is a valid point that Chuck and Shackle perhaps too hard on today's players, right, I value say that, Yeah, I don't know about the whole devaluing thing because I feel like I feel like the people who go this route, they try to paint the NBA is the only league having old heads who think the third day was better and which is bullshit? Right, football players, Plenty of football players think that. Plenty of baseball players think that. I don't know about hockey players. I don't keep up with the fucking hockey.

But Tom Brady has a podcast interview where he talks about how NFL offenses fucking suck. Like he spent like a half hour breaking down now quarterbacks aren't on a team long enough to actually teach him how to play football, Like that's like he literally like that's the guy Fox just gave a quarter billion dollars two to be their top color commentator.

Yeah yeah, so so, Like I said, I just can't ride with them painting this like it's a uniquely NBA thing, you know what I mean, all the old heads you know behavior wait, their wave their fist at today's league.

So I mean Inside the NBA was on when the NBA ratings were up.

All the networks like they have the least slippage and viewership, like between ESPN and and ABC or whatever, you know.

What, because you talked about it what they have.

I mean, I almost think comparing them to NBA, NFL, or MLB broadcasters doesn't make sense because no other league hasn't Inside the NBA, like Tyler pointed out, it's not a it's not a studio sports show. It's a late night show. It's it right, And obviously I'm not the person the.

NBA is worried about losing.

Like I'm addicted to watching basketball, but I don't know how many times I've watched the fourth quarter of a game that I would not have watched because Inside the NBA was on after it. Like that is to me, And we've talked about how important that show was to me bringing my son into NBA culture. That show has been the bridge between a lot of generations of fathers and their kids or you know that that cross generational thing that you're looking for.

So that's that's my disagreement.

I just I think it's such an integral part of basketball culture, and they even make fun of the old heads who are hating, you know what I mean. That's like ERNIEO said that that's not fair, you know, you can't like he's a great young player.

Like, so, I don't know that that's my take on it.

I just think it's too important to the culture of basketball to say that it's the reason for the ratings to climb that yeah, like for that.

To be the number one thing that's caused the NBA ratings to drop.

Like it's also like a lot to say to suggest that Inside the NBA is the only show that has former players hating on current players. Even even that's incorrect, like that's all ESPN does now They literally fired Zach Lowe and have paying Kendrick Perkins millions of dollars, Like that's literally what ESPN does. It's it's so weird to singularly like this thing is the is the only thing.

It just it's it's very strange.

Let me find out there's some little beef there, because I think the the gymnastics you have to get to in order to say that is the thing that's causing the ratings drop. That's the number one most the thing that's damaged the NBA more than anything. Is crazy to me, So it has to be someone else. There has to be something under that. We gotta find out some Twitter Twitter Sloop's gotta figure that one out, because that's crazy.

That's crazy, all right.

I want to talk briefly about Aaron Rodgers since we're five days away from a Dookie Butt of the Week here. Aaron Rodgers, a couple of weeks ago, you know, gave some quotes about not liking that, you know, ESPN was so personality driven, like, you know, personality driven commentary, people making it about themselves, et cetera, et CETERA. Friend of the show, Mina Kimes pointed out on a different ESPN show that Aaron Rodgers is employed by the Pat McAfee show to go on there and be one of the personalities on their personality driven show. And she didn't say this because she works for ESPN, But I will say Pat McAfee, his close friend, is like the face of that happening at ESPN, Like they specifically like laid people off to give more money to Pat McAfee to come be like personality driven sports stuff. Aaron Rodgers today, I think, within seven days of this comment, went on the Pat McAfee show and asked, after being criticized by Ryan Clark, demanded to know his VAX status.

And I would just say, R so funny.

Hell, I would just say, Aaron, don't do it. You hate it when people go on ESPN personality driven shows and make things about themselves.

Don't do it, Eric, don't tell.

This dude is never gonna go away. And I feel like we just need to come to terms with that. He's not going away after he retires. He's not going away if he's not a starter anymore. Like Bro, He's gonna be here forever. Because this is a motherfucker who loves to hear himself talk, because he doesn't give a fuck how contradictory he is, how hypocritical he is. He's just someone who thinks he's the smartest motherfucking every flecking conversation and he loves to hear himself talk. He's never going away. That's the takeaway I had from this, and it's a scary thought to have.

It's funny because he said the other day, I think on Pat McAfee show, they were like, after you are done playing, do you plan on being in the media in a more formal way, And he was like, no way, no chance, absolutely not. You're gonna see me like in the woods in a cabin or something. And it's like, as you're on, no one's asking like you, you don't have to do this, bro, You really don't. You've made millions of dollars. You're making millions of dollars right now, they're paying you. You do not have to go on the pattern Aca show right now as a player. It's okay, you don't have.

To do it.

That's not going into the kids five twenty nine college savings account.

Right like you. It's okay. I'm gonna make the same joke I've made about him before.

Man, he's got what's doing all that money?

Where? Family? Bro? What's he doing with it? Family? What's he doing with that?

Man has zero family like his even like the family he was born into, doesn't funk with him.

He doesn't have the family you choose or the family you don't choose.

Family, liss you got about the money, it's a.

Right, yeah, that nigga at home like big as house, echoing Nigga.

He's ricked from Rick and Morty if Rick was a dumb ass.

He that had not occurred to me until Tyler said that. But unfortunately, you're right, and he'll get any amount of money that he wants to do media because he's in the sweet spot, which is that a lot of people agree with the dumb shit he says, and everyone who doesn't agree with him hates him so much that they have to talk about it.

You gotta say the material though, like the VACUI hit in is almost twenty twenty five.

Nigga, show your vax status, bro, Bro, damn, this is what we're talking about, seed notes and ships. I want to know your vax status, he said.

I want to know your vax status because anyone who is vaccinated, I immediately disregard every single thing they have to say because.

They're being controlled by the big farm.

Rodgers has to be vaccinated against something. He grew up in California, Like they don't let you out of the house if you don't have the polio vaccine when you're you know what I mean, Like, like, there's no way Aaron Rodgers does not have the same amount of fucking little robots floating around in his bloodstream that I have.

But that's my favorite one of the things I find the funniest about it. Didn't he go to public school, so oh, I'm a go ahead, jack.

It's one of the funniest things I've things I find the funniest about people who are anti vaxers and people who have this sort of like stance that Aaron Rodgers is taking of. Like if tell me that, I don't want to hear you guys asking me about my vac status. But like then when it flips, when the things the other way, He's like, tell me your vax status, because I'm gonna immediately discount everything that you're saying. We are not saying. I'm not saying anyway I don't want to see we I'm not saying. I'm discounting every single thing an anti vax person says. I just think that doing that is stupid. He's like, if you aren't, if you're vaccinated, I do not believe a word out of your mouth that is so it doesn't that's what you want.

We're saying, Aaron Rodgers went to Pleasant Valley Heights.

You and him as you're reasonable though, you know what I mean, Like you can't explain.

The anti vacks himself out of a family nigga, He has nowhere else to go. He has to talk about anti vaxers. He has nothing else. Salon's nigga. Like he has to stick with it, you know what I mean. But this is a hold on. To attend a public K through twelve in California. Actually, I thinks you attend a private K through twelve in California too. You gotta have five doses of your te app which is ditheria tetanus protesters.

You gotta have four of the polio shots. You gotta have three of the B shots. You gonna have two shots of measles, mumps, and rubella. And now which was not true when we were kids, because we're as old as Aaron Rodgers, you gotta have the chicken the chicken pox vaccine as well. Aaron Rodgers has at minimum twelve of doses of vaccines coursing around in his dumb ass blood as he's saying all this.

She got a twelve pack of robots. You got a dozen robots, and you motherfucker talking all this ship.

All right, someone sent me this. We could talk about this for a second. I don't know if y'all have an opinion. Did you guys see the list of the most popular hard liquors in the United States of America? I have the list of the top nine. I'm curious if these will surprise you.

You want to these are hard liquors. Yeah, like not beer? Yeah yeah, yeah yeah.

Like the brand, like the brand of vodka and whiskey.

Yeah yeah, okay, An I feel like, yeah, yeah, yes, I feel like there's.

Been like a real tequila renaissance over the last decade, or.

There's not a tequila in the really, wow, I was gonna say, had to be.

Tito's is a vodka andos in Atlanta. Y'ah.

Remember that, with all due respects to all of our humble upbringings, you are rich compared to the majority of Americans.

He does Number one, I think is number one, Tito's. John.

By virtue of you being able to afford to runt a house in Los Angeles, you are richer than ninety percent of the United States of America.

I don't feel like number okay, Number one is Tito's m hmm. Is Jack Daniels not the.

Jack Daniels is number nine.

Johnny Walker, Johnny Walker not on there. Crown Morgan, Crown Royal is number three. Captain Morgan is number eight. Motherfucker. No, we've gotten four, I conna say, because that ship was cheapest.

No, tequila's I'm surprised you have not gotten number two. Number two would have been the first one. I guess what is it?

There's something. It's something something, something cheap that sucks you up. Secums gin No, uh is going there? No? I used to funk with that spect I should be my absolute. It was absolute on that motherfucker. No, nigga, what's on there? Man, We're gonna be honest. Number two, number number number two is smearing off. Oh wow, got so he did.

It's affordable, it's not affordable, it's not bottom, but it's.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I forget bro. That was expressive to me except for Paul. There's no way Jamison is on there, right. Uh, Jameson is not there? Oh? Hell, I know, Jameson.

What's what's the one with the red tip, the whiskey makers mark, Makers Makers mark?

Is that on there?

Uh No, so it's Tito's Smearnoff Crown Royal.

But Carty is number four, Jim Beam is number five.

This is again I'm glad that this podcast that none of us are in this phase of our lives.

Number six is fireball. I have a home girl who put.

Up a picture of a party she was at that was like a throwback party. And what they had on tables all around the it was a house party, was the many Christmas trees and they had the little fireball shots tied up like ornaments all over all the different little Christmas trees, and it just it just smelled like college.

What was that that you would do with? It was like it was like red Bull and something. Yeager Ball is yegger on there.

No. Number seven is New Amsterdam Vodka. Number eight is Captain Morgan and number nine is Jack Daniels.

People don't drink Amsterdam.

I've never heard of that before, my a lie, I don't believe that I know.

What type of what type of liquor? Is that? Wow? That of course is I mean, that makes sense, But Jesus that sounds horrible. So it's a lot of vodka, whiskey and run on that list people getting did you drink par Masan when you was in college? Did you stay away? Yeah?

Masan that she was like a dollars nigga. You said, what J n J went crazy too? Almsg J nig I used to ian J and vanilla coke. You know that was my little little ship.

You know what I mean?

Brother? What was that ship? That motherfuckers was drinking? Oh?

Mac, I was drinking mad I talked to Brooks was drinking mad.

I think one night I with mad Dog and it was off with the tequila drunk, felt like a beard drunk, which was like, I'm burping this ship.

I'm like, bro, it's am I am? I am? I correct? Vodka.

Vodka is cheaper than tequila, right, that's why there's so much vodka.

I think the cheapest vodcast there was some cheap vodkas on that.

There's a plastic bottle you can get.

I remember my freshman year of high school. You remember how vic those motherfucking n J bottles were came to like the fence and ship.

You thought it was gonna explode, but it actually just went straight through someone's head and you're.

Like fresh fresh freshman year of college.

There were there was some surprise room checks going down the hallway from the r as and we were like, oh ship and we had an empty bottle of that in the room. My roommate threw that ship out the window. It hit the ground and bounced. We were four stories up. We lived on the fourth floor. He do that motherfucker out the window and that ship bounced.

You're saying, you're saying, you're saying, they sell that ship in the black boxes from the airplanes. Bro. That shit crazy, that's crazy. They spend more money on the glass and the liquor then you feel me?

That ship was That shit was pure helligg I think if I drank that ship now it would be over.

I would probably he was just sniffing, you feel me?

No, that ship was Oh brog motherfucker's putting that shit in gator ray and ship like they don't even like that's just just.

Pure, purely just it's like how I eat when I'm trying to be healthy. It was just to get drunk.

I'm giving a fuck about taste, I'm giving about nut. There's a purpose this liquor ass and it's to get me drunk. Mixes with anything that's gonna get me drunk, faster crazy.

I feel like alcohols as well as the games played with alcohols was a big like racial divider in college.

What you mean ya had an incredible hulk where you was at No?

I mean like well, no, like Lomba State obviously was you had a You had a contingent of both things. But it was just like my black friends would play Edward forty Hands, where they would like take forties to their hands, and my white friends would would ice each other.

You know what I mean with vodka? You know what that is, John, You're not never played everything. I didn't play every That's what I'm saying. I didn't even played that, Tyler. You know Edward forty I didn't know.

I was talking about that on the show Edward forty Hands.

You take forties to your hands and then you couldn't take them off until you drunk both forties.

Y'all play that at college? Tyler. I was aware of it. I've never I never seen it actually take place in the wide participated. Yeah, that's not that's not one of course. Yeah, that model bottle is you see that you see how think.

But it got the handle to bust somebody. You know what I'm sing It made a cracker nig. They probably thought all that throughout. You know what I'm saying that it looks.

Like bo Junior bro looks like Thor's hammer.

After you drink it, you could use it as a weapon as well. Purpose Yeah, what's I'm probably gonna hate this.

And a smear of product that's like maybe maybe it's yeah, you know what something I felt some fake titties I had. I was. I was drinking ice.

Send send that quote to Action bron that Action rocks.

I was. I was. I was string shot of the of the podcast.

It was a Christmas party.

Is how cool niggas are?

It was a Christmas party and like right, like I was like eighteen, you feel me? And we was like like she had bought some some joints.

You feel me?

And she was like yeah, you could, you could whatever. And so I'm like a doctor in that bitch.

I'm not.

I'm not even niggas telling me like you know, you ain't trying to because I'm like I'm like I was feeling them, like I was examining them. There was nothing sexual about what I was doing.

You were picking up when she was really I was not picking up like giving it a grace.

Also, she was this too, so I wasn't gonna pick it up, you know what I mean, Like I was, I was way more interested, you know what I mean in the science that.

Was going on. You're toting the bounced levels this. Yeah, that's all it was. That was. There was no way that was going down. That was That was. That was a smear off experience. That was just yeah, that was.

Ice is when icing someone is when it's like a game that your whole group has sort of agreed. It's sort of like a social code that you just agreed to playing this game, which I think.

Is kind of stupid.

But it's like you would hide it somewhere and the person who finds it has to like chug it immediately in ten seconds or last Like you hired. Like a drawer where you're getting your utensils at ten in the morning or whatever, you getting breakfast, pull it out. There's an ice in there. No matter what time of day it is, you gotta drink chug said ice.

Dumb, incredibly dumb.

I agree, nothing fun about that Hey, did y'all did y'all used to soap? We used to soak fruit and liquor, and then like on the weekend, we would like eat the fruit on a Friday.

You know, like we were we would we would be like in the my homegirl actually would do it.

We would be in the in classes on Fridays or Friday class get ready for the weekend.

Nigga, Bro, I would Nigga. I didn't give. The one thing I regret is not really put an effort forth in school. I just did what that's so that's one. That's one thing I was. I wish I could have seen.

You were too cool, Bro, I wasn't too cool. I wasn't too cool. I just didn't give a fuck up I was. I was getting my finance degree for my mom.

That was not for me, brother, you know what I mean?

No, but I feel like I feel like Tyler would would you agree? Of everyone I know, the person who I think would most enjoyed going to college right now and having nothing to do for two years but take general education college classes would be John, Like, I feel like you'd be texting us in the middle of every fucking class, Like I'm in this botany class.

You won't fucking believe like what I mean, Yeah, for so for so, And it's like weird.

Classes that I would find super intriguing and get lost in, like you know what I mean. But yeah, the find to find and being in finance and business man like calculation and ship.

I took calculus in high school. You're reading get the fuck out here, you're reading pomegranates instead.

Yeah, what fruit we would put like, I mean, we would cut up like pineapple. It was you know, it's it's and we wouldn't really cut it up she was. We was pouring fine a pineapple from the can. Also, we do like fruit cocktail.

You remember that ship.

I don't know Biggs even do that ship. No more that shit even exists. Damna. We would cut up fruit cock We wo were just taking the camp It was just canned fruit for the most part.

So what's more advertising what John is describing or the ham?

What are you more likely to eat? That's what I want to know, was good Man. That was very intrigued. That fruit mischi was good.

I mean, it was a bunch of sugar because it's canned fruit. But I was like, I was, like, fucking nineteen or twenty.

Nigga shit, that.

Sugar didn't hit a nigga at all. Bro, I was jigging at twelve with my abs. Bitch fuck answered my back. Nigga up here answered my neck amms and my fucking eilbows. Nigga, that ship was crazy.

All right.

I want to go to what John said about how one of his regrets is that he never really applied himself of college, because I feel like I got a bit of remorse there too. And a few weeks ago, someone tweeted out, like, am I the only one who keeps having this nightmare where I'm in my last semester of college and I'm about to graduate and I didn't go to class all semester. And I was like, dog, I had that all the time, everybody all the time. Whole support group formed around that, SUEK like so many of us had that recurring nightmare.

Doug, Bro, I'll be in the I'm like, damn, I'm finna. That's crazy. I don't know why that is it because niggas isn't slack. It wasn't you doing like I think it's a.

Combination of thing.

First of all, it's a transitionary stage for your brain physically, right, like our brain is like finished growing more like in your mid twenties, it's a yeah. And then it's the transitional period socially too, where we you know, we have all these college kids who work for us, and I tell all of them. I actually was just telling them because his finals week right now.

Savor it.

There is no feeling you will ever have in your life again, like finishing your last final for the semester. You will never finish something again ever in your life. You will have a job and you'll just have the job, and if you lose the job, you'll be looking for another job, like unless you're a very lucky person college. You know, like Thursday, two pm, I'm walking out of the Liberal Arts Building and I have.

Shit to do for six weeks, Like you have to save the shit that.

Bro even in school, like if I would have just like I didn't have to, like I don't think my to do good. I just had to like show up the class consistently, and nigga bruh. I'm like there was some weeks I might pull up that motherfucker. I might have like twelve fifty I think my last semester, I had eighteen hours, and there's some days I might go to two some might go to two classes. Nigga, fuck you mean you know what I mean? If not taking, if you're not taking, like, uh, what's it called attendance, niggas. I'm like, Bro, I'm cool, you know what I'm saying. Like, I'm just I just didn't. I did what I had to do to get out of there, bro. But I think mostly was because I was doing something that I didn't care about, you know what I mean. If I could do something that I thought was actually interesting, you know what I mean? And also I was just naturally get a number, so I really didn't have to if I had to. I don't know, I just I just wish i'd apply myself this I could the same way I could have done.

I do kind of have a theory that we sort of have like misordered our lives a little bit in this country and then like modern society or whatever, because like most people are now having kids, like you're very like you know, the average age having kids, like in your early thirties or whatnot, right, tire as fuck char and I joke all the time, bro, Like her dad was fifty when he had her.

Parents are crazy, imagine.

But it's the same thing with like you're retired, you're sixty five, you're sixty eight or seventy, you could travel, you ready to go to bed bro, like you know what I mean? Like like we like we're doing all this shit that requires energy at the wrong end of things.

And then like when we're in college.

Imagine if you got to go to college when you were sixty you don't have shit else to do, Like that seems like I would be crazy, but you're eighteen. Like you're eighteen, your brain's not formed yet. You literally don't have the ability to process risk correctly. And that's when we're like explore the world, you know what I mean? Like it doesn't make sense what was?

What was?

Like, Okay, the part of the reason why I, you know, chose finance was because, like I said, my mom, but also because I was only eighteen and had to make a decisions about what I wanted to be.

That's what it felt like at that time.

So I'm like, who I'm not, I'm not gonna like drop my nuts to my mom, be like no, I'm chasing my dream Like nigga, I don't know what the I don't even have a dream.

I know what the fuck? I want to do it? Eighteen, nigga, You know what I'm saying. I just want to. I want to.

I want to get shit cracked, I do know, And that's what I'm gonna be doing in college, you know what I'm saying. So when it was finance, motherfucker, you know whatever shit you know we that would be doing that, and that's all that really mattered because I was eighteen, you know what I mean.

So I just I just hate.

That I had to make a decision that was so so.

Serious, you know what I mean? It was that as important is it?

I've never used that degree, you know what I mean, So like it's not as important now, you.

Know, I have an English Lit major with a philosophy minor. You feel me. I'm just saying, like, but that decision, twenty years of dust done it, I would have.

Chose, Like I'm so curious about so many things, finance is not one of them, you know what I mean.

I would at least.

Show something that I'm extremely curious about, like you know, anthropology or some shit, you know what I mean.

Like, anyway I feel you anthropology was that was the dopest class.

I took two anthropology classes.

I took one anthropology class fun fact, in middle school because there was a pilot program where they sent like five of us from middle school to college to take college classes. So I took a biological anthropology class at cal State LA.

When I was in eighth grade. And that shit did not make any sense to me. But I gotta see, I remember when I was in when I was in.

Middle school, if you tested a particular way, they made you take the ACT. You know what I'm saying. I was in seventh grade and like I took ACT. I got like an eighteen or something or nineteen something like that. But I was like in seventh grade, but they made you do that if you got a particular test on or whatever. Yeah, but like like that, Nigga didn't give a fuck about school. And when he was in college and I was in seventh grade being forced to I'm forced but my mom basically forced me.

But he said, yo, let him take the a CT. See what he does, you know what I mean? But crazy?

They were doing educational ship by throwing darts at the board when we were kids.

Bro, Bro Nigga Talented and gifted was such a waste of time I was in that.

I don't say it was. I wouldn't say it was. It was a waste I would was, but like maybe what school I was at? Yeah?

Yeah, but like the like sending middle school kids to college just to see what happens.

Why, Bro, I was in there with fucking adults.

It was hard.

Yeah, we were in there with college students.

Fuck y'all. Bro Like, like they said, raiders are here with us, seven to twelve nigga twice as big as me. I'm like, Bro, you know what I mean?

Crazy? We smell different, Nigga. I smell like outside. You feel like I want to go play. You got me in here for four hours, six or whatever it took, Bro, Man Nigga.

Making the middle schooler take a full day of standardized testing.

That does seem like crazy. It does feel you.

Had an intermission. I thought it was supposed to be leaving at that point, They're like, no, you have.

Two more.

My whole Saturday Saturday, Ada.

I only get fifty of these a year. Man, the come on, man, Jackson. Anything from the chat.

They're just laughing about missing college and.

How how it feels when you have to finally get in the workforce.

After that, that was that was the brother bro, when Nigga, When Nigga, I went from college and I'm like, yo, wait, I gotta sit here for eight hours.

I gotta be here.

I didn't realize how much free time I truly that. That's why I said I didn't really have to like lock in as much as I thought I did. I can still did all the things that I did and still put some put a modicum of fucking effort into what I was doing, you know what I mean.

It was crazy. We thought we were adults too. Bro. I was just walking around that motherfucker nigga. Bro.

Yeah, I got the keys to the newspaper delivery card you you want to ride back to your car?

Decisions we were making at.

That time, like like it was the like it was the nuclear codes, you know what I mean, Like I got a key to the newspaper office because we don't even have to go home tonight.

Yeah.

It's really so wild man, Like we were and we were living on our own at that time with other dudes our age who thought they who foolishly thought they were just as grown as we were.

How can we survived? One time, this nigga tried to holler at my chip.

And I was supposed to be like my homie, right, I had a four toys you know, that green, big ass goofy ass can car. Bro I saw that nigga crossing the street on a four lane street and was circling him in the street. I own you, I'm gonna beat your ass when I feel like it, motherfucker.

Four lane street. Nigga circling this nigga a fourth tour.

I own you could through the door think I was nigga. I could have cracked his ass though for sure he was little saint kitsch nigga.

Man.

Oh, anyway, we really thought we were like you know, we thought we were fifty years old.

Broh ah, that's crazy, man.

I just remember, like, you know, people graduate be complaining about stuff and he'd be.

Like, how serious I took Mike, You correctly took your relationship very serious? Yeah, I'm seriously I took my crazy ass relationship right the fuck.

Oh we moved. I moved in with somebody at twenty one. That's move in.

That's why I've been telling these folks leave Travis on her loan dog, Bro, like you saw Michael irban and day violation.

I don't know.

We was doing backflips to that motherfucker, and I don't think that was good. It was horrible, but like a person that bad should not be moving in with anybody.

And she was wild too. We was all wold. We were supposed to be wild the fuck. Just crazy bad decision making.

Michael Irvans fell violation with four A's today, Bro, but he was tweaking, bro.

Like.

He was so deep in that child's business.

I looked at the video clip and that she said five minutes eighteen seconds.

I said, motherfucker, row so deep we run in film.

He got the laser pointer.

He's doing the red line refe thrusher analysis and yeah, bro, it's not that d all right.
