You're listening to Fox Sports Greetings. Welcome inside the Jason Smith Show at Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Radio dot Com. End I Heart Radio. Jason Smith alongside me my bas friend Mike Armon from the Geico Studios where fifteen minutes can save you fifteen more in car insurance. Got a Geico dot Com right now and see how much you can save. Well. Congratulations to Lebron, James and James Jones going to their seventh consecutive NBA Finals. After this whitewashing of the Boston Celtics, the Cavaliers win it one thirty five one oh two. Lebron and James Jones combined for thirty seven. Lebron had thirty five, Kyrie Irving seven assist Kevin Love fifteen and eleven and four steals. This was never in doubt. Cleveland got out to a big lead and you knew it was over. So I think I think all the boys Ayah Thomas that now, I think those conversations can stop now, Boston missus Isaiah Thomas, Well, you can still go back through the the idea of he is a year old point guard that's going to have hip surgery coming off a career year, and you start looking down the road when you've got a draft. I don't know where that has like eighteen of them. No, but I just mean if if you're talking about this notion that, well, boy, the Celtics you play together, okay for a couple of days without a start, then you get exposed. And if Isaiah Tom's such a bad defensive player, look with the Cavaliers laying on the Celtics. They laid one thirty five on them tonight in a game on the road. Yeah, three times this series. They went over forty points in the first quarter. H don't trying to, you know, take the accomplishments of James Jones and just push him aside. Someone has to be the leader, the focus of this team. That's him. He made the first sentence of the show. That's right. He's a big deal. Well, we actually have real playoff action going on in the National Hockey League, Yes we do right now. Pittsburg just missed on a partial breakaway that could have won it and sent the Penguins of the Stanley Cup Final instead. Otto and Pittsburgh continue to battle right now, tied at two apiece, and I am digging that Game seven is the number one trending topic on social media. It could be the Senators, which the NHL is going, oh my god, no, or the Penguins and Sydney Crosby taking on the Predators. But I would like to see Boston Celtics fans become the number one through nine seven trending topic. As they got suckered into coming back for another beat down, well they kind of had to write, you come back, and I don't know what what are you estimating? Ad revenues somewhere between five seven million dollars maybe a little bit more than that good for the good for the league and rev sharing, probably two or three million dollars when it gets down to ticket sales and some of the concessions and stuff. So we're talking about, you know, some eight to ten million dollars, maybe maybe a little bit more. Might be a little bit of fuzzy math. But for another absolute epic beat down own and a no show effort. Defensively, Lebron James, the aggressor in the first quarter en route to his thirty five points, does fall short. It looked like by halftime he was gonna have that triple dolt, but not to be. But he does knock down the big shot, and that's why all anybody you'll be talking about, especially as he started handing out T shirts while doing at least they weren't bottle flipping. He was handing out T shirts this time. Should have had a up of coffee and just chilled. But here's the big part of the one thirty five one oh two. I can imagine how many points the Celtics would have given up if they had Isaiah Thomas. I'm sixty. As I said, this game was never in doubt, and the Cavaliers maintained anywhere from a twenty two to a thirty four point lead for the majority of the second half. That's pretty big bulge. But that didn't stop Richard Jefferson first saying no, no, this is my game. Richard Jefferson went in a three the nineteenth of the game for ab them and Gerald Green will driple it up into the front door. That was it. That was it to Richard Jefferson, it's the three. Maybe is there some kind of crazy parley bet where it was you got to take the Cavaliers minus thirty two and and that had to happen. That might have been one of the inline in game number targeting. We were concentrating on hockey, so we weren't quite paying so much attention to the the finer points of those final minutes. But wouldn't have been great if if dude got body slammed. Hey hey, you know, I mean he doesn't wear glasses, so you know you're not on the hook for those you laugh. But right now, Geff forty is winning the election. What did I tell you last night? He's winning the election. Part of it was, what was it a quarter million votes would have already been cast. There's a lot of votes who were cast already, but they're they're counting right now. And still okay, you still have the rest of the people who are going to vote today. And still Dandy is leading by three percent of the vote. Nearly of the precincts are reporting the body slams a guy and hey, no, he's going to the House representatives Like there is nothing you can't come back from in the United States. No, I really believe, you know, I didn't even have to. I used to think that LaVar Ball eventually would say something that people would stop paying attention. No happen, No, and it doesn't matter. You can come back from anything. Now, if you if you have enough people that hate the other side so badly that I'm going to just back somebody I shouldn't back at all. You can come back from anything. Any body slam. Dude, lose the endorsements of the big newspapers in Montana. Have a number of people come out and start raising their hands, and you know you're writing the the entirety of the man's body of work off that incident, and and still still he's going to win. That's unbelievable. I we said it last night. If you can solve your problems by whoever has the best body slam, maybe that's how we break ties in sports. We should be doing that for everything. You got a problem in the boardroom, you're not getting your way. You're trying to do a little major redesigned on your website. No, this is the goody I want. This is what I how I wanted to flow exactly. Ring the bell and away we go Twitter and help out of Fresco. The Jason Smith showed Jason Mike Harmon. Although I don't want to get rid of playoff hockey, if I don't want to get rid of overtime playoff hockey. I'd rather see that than somebody body slams somebody. I'd like especially if it's announced by Doc Emer, because he can make me throwing out a napkin exciting. And there's Jason Smith into the kitchen, the napkin into the garbage. I mean, that's what Doc Emer can do, and you can do. You probably would have busted out with a rister lips he shuffles Smith with a rister. That would have a lot of random verbs for what you were doing. The bottle flops out of the recycle, bending onto the floor, a man scramble and time out again. Still too to Ottawa and Pittsburgh. But the story at hand tonight obviously the Cavaliers going to the finals again. It will be for the third time. We're gonna get Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, and this is now going to be Lebron James's eighth trip to the NBA Finals eight. He was right, it was just about something completely different and he didn't stay there. But after tonight, the Jordan Lebron conversation is going to crop up fresh again because of this occurrence. Back to Lebron James. It goes for us he knocks it down, and Lebron James with that triple has just passed Michael Jordan's to now become the top scorer in NBA playoff history. Cav's Radio Network on the call, Lebron passes Michael Jordan despite playing in more game but taking fewer shots. So there is that he did play in more games and Michael Jordan has during his NBA career, but he has taken more shots, so you can kind of tilt the stats wherever you want to. Now there's gonna be the big rush to have another Michael Jordan Lebron James conversation. Any Jordan Lebron conversation is incomplete. You can't compare. You know why, because Lebron is still playing. We know Jordan's body of work. We've seen it. We saw three straight finals, a retirement, three straight finals. We've seen it. We know everything about it. Lebron is still in the middle of or nearing the end of his peak. So to try to say, ah, Lebron's in this and you know, Jordan was a shooter, and everybody's weighing in now, and Pippin was weighing and I heard Rod Strickland on the way in talking about guys like pipping, like like Jordan's even throwing Kobe in the mix and everything. You can't. You can't say it because well, if Lebron st Lebron is not stopping right now, he's thirty two, he's got another three or four more years in his prime until he starts to slow down. All right, Karmelone built a lot like Karmelone. Carmelone slowed down when he was thirty six years old, and not a lot, but he slowed down a little bit. But Lebron's got a lot of milogo on his legs, does a lot more than Karmelone did for his team. So maybe, but another three more years for Lebron James, and in those three years he's gonna go to the finals at least two more times. So if you want to have the real Jordan's Lebron conversation, and it's got to be an incomplete one, because again you don't, we don't have Jordan's. But now, if Lebron goes to ten finals and wins five, that's better, that's best in Jordan's winning six and going six for six in the NBA finals. Going to ten finals Man ten five. This is like Celtics of the sixties. This is like Bill Russell and Bob Couzy And when there's four teams in leaguing out of Celtics are going back to the finals and we have on this very show that there are really only four teams competing for anything. But here's the problem is then, like you start parsing it out, and that's where the conversation is now. And what makes it such a great argument to just keep doing laps and going back and forth in terms of their individual achievements, the team achievements and everything else, is that you're comparing two different eras. You're comparing two different styles of player. You're comparing what three and a half inches, isn't that what they the height differential is approximately, like so different post games and everything else. You look at the outside shot everything. You just go on down the line where the east is competitively, not to say that it was full of juggernauts during the Jordin era, but just from just the rules that you had, so like, there's all different things that come into this equation that I'm sure some brilliant statisticians are normalizing for and trying to run their algorithms around, or maybe they'll simulate it like that Rocky movie and we could just do it once and for all and have these all these teams go at each other. So it's it's a fun argument, but it's yeah, when when we started comparing across eras, even as recent as Jordan's into Lebron, there's still so much noise in the discussion, you know, because they're they're different players. There's was Jordan more of a score yes, was he more of a natural leader with his clutch shots? Well? Yeah, but there's Lebron more of a facilitator, yes, So you're gonna have to measure what did they accomplish. And I'm sorry, but ten five, you're talking about ten NBA finals and ten finals. But you're still getting there, still gotta win. You get to tens and you win half of them. That's better than going six or six because obviously, had Jordan's played those two middle years and not retired for whatever reason, he would have gone eight for eight. And now that suddenly it's a much different conversation. Or if you exactly but you can't play ifs you know, you and I were talking before the show about how in the beginning. Jordan had to get past a lot of foot issues his first couple of years in league, and I remember when he was coming back from his broken foot, it was he's gonna get to play seven minutes tonight, and then it was we can increase it to seven and a half minutes tomorrow. It can be three minutes in a quarter, and then he's got to sit for a quarter and then he's got three more minutes in the third quarter. That was what it was like for Jordans the beginning. But you have to deal with what's been done and it's incomplete. But if you really want to project ten finals and five out of ten, that's better than six or six. It's better. It's because you can't. It's not number, but it's not equal. Saying getting to the finals and losing is the same as not getting at all. That that no, that's not because you've accomplished more in years when Jordan didn't get to the finals for whatever reason. Getting to the finals and losing is better than not getting to the finals. But but it's like, no, no, there's a philosopher that I'm gonna just drop the microphone and walk out of the studio. If you're not first your last Twitter it o about a Frescot. Gonna put a Bobcat in your car for the ride home. See how far are you making on the floor? Eight seven, seven ninety nine On Fox The Jason Smith Show, Jason Mike Harmon. Yeah you get to ten, you win five. Yeah, you beat Jordan's I We'll have more on this conversation. Oh boy, Mr Chicago's a lidle upset. But coming up next tonight maybe as good as it gets with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Why I'll tell you next on Fox Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show, Jason Mike Carmon, Live from the Geico Studios. Ottawa and Pittsburgh still tied at two apiece, the winner heading to the Stanley Cup Final. Just under five minutes ago in regulation. I'll tell you what, if Ottawa loses, They're gonna be that Phil Kessel dive in the third period that gave Pittsburgh a power play that allowed them to get their second goal. That will live forever because that was that was such a dive. Hey, if it works, it works. But and you gotta think officials are gonna see that Kessel just he just he's skating along the boards. You just just leaped to the ground and it was up penalty on a play that was gonna be icing. And when I next fly into Pittsburgh, is there gonna be a statue of that next to Franklin. Oh? Yeah, they're both in the same position because that was Kessel like like on the ground. My god, Twitter, And how about a fresco that Jason Smith show Jason my car? But yes, still too to under five minutes to go now in overtime, Nashville waiting with bated breath, a lot of anthem singers warming up. Maybe they should fight. Hey. We had John Paul Morossi on last night and I said, hey, you know, all's forgiven with all this bad Mets news. You keep bringing me as long as you get Jennifer Nettles to sing the anthem. And he goes, yeah, I'll look into it. I'm like, wow, we know people, he's got to look into it. I'm great, look into that to Riff ask questions. You know, he's one of those journalist that guy to guy. Oh, he's an aggressive young go getter. He works for multiple networks, getting after it, covering baseball, covering hockey. He'll go get it done. You said that like Mr Burns an aggressive young gooka smith is maybe the phraseology, but not in the saying Caden's or tone. But obviously the big story of the night. Cavaliers one thirty five the Celtics seven your final Now, I said one seven, maybe so we get the rubber match still covered of the Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Thirty five for Lebron James. A game that Cleveland got out to a forty three seven lead in the first quarter and they never looked back. They blew it open even further in the third and fourth quarter, Richard Jefferson hitting a three with the Calves up thirty two for that final thirty three point margin. Yeah, the Celtics will remember that. But no, well, I mean, is that part of the unwritten rules? You know? If you're on you don't you put the ball on the ground and walk away. Now, I'm gonna shoot a three wide. Screw you. I've got a guess. At some point, nobody believe me when I said Lebron was six. I'm gonna make this three just because wait, why didn't I sign this guy for the first game of the season against Boston. Oh wait here he comes. He's running straight towards Richard Jefferson. Look Out, but this may be as good as it gets for Lebron and the Cavaliers. Freeze this moment a flash in time. Lebron and the Cavaliers get past the all suddenly in different play for Game three, in the four fouls in the first half of Game four, when he was laying back and waiting for his supporting cast to step up and play well, because as soon as they did, he started playing like Lebron James. Forget about that for a second. The Warriors are waiting in the finals. Here's what Lebron had to say to Ernie Johnson following the victory. What does this team have to do before next Thursday and this NBA Championship Series begins. What does this need to do well? First of all, we can't take this moment for granted. That's the first order of business. We gotta we gotta celebrate this moment. This is not uh Kyle Cover fourteen years his first UH Finals appearance, d Will with thirteen twelve for d Will uh first uh, you know, first NBA Finals. So you know we're gonna we're not gonna take this for granted. And uh, once we get to the preparation for that job, and now we got our west, then we'll be locked in. Well for a guy who's going to a seventh straight finals, what is the first word of advice you give? Yeah, I know, what is the first word of advice you give to somebody who's not been there before? Just living a moment? Just living a moment, Like I said, this is not Uh, it's not promised every year for sure. We all know that it takes a hard work and dedication and uh, we just all got to live in a moment. And uh, I think we're all looking forward to it. But when we start to prepare, we get there and we were prepared the best way we can. Fans would love to see that series start. I don't know, ten minutes from now. How much time do you need? When would you like to start the finals? This is gonna be tough the way the week. Uh, we're gonna start next Thursday, That's what the schedule is. And we need that much time to prepare for them, so we'll be ready for it. Alright. So there's James Tehran lu said that their offense has nothing, absolutely nothing, and what the Celtics do, and they just vanquished them with with he he called he called the you know, Mike Brown said it was cute that he that he thinks that. You know, Look, I want to be honest here. I don't want to be realistic because we're always realistic. You may not like being realistic, but we are. I don't see a path for the Cavaliers in the finals. I don't. They have to hit too many threes to keep up with the Warriors. Golden State's gonna be much more disciplined than they were last year. They came in, they were full of piss and vinegar. We're gonna win again, Draymond Green, Nope, I can get tangled up with Lebron. I can respond. Then he gets suspended. The series turns and they never get it back. When things got tight, the Warriors saw we needed more than Steph Curry when it came down to that possession at the end, with Kevin Love playing the best defense of his life and Steph Curry trying frantically to get that three in the final seconds of Game seven that could have tied the game. Instead, he throws up a brick the Warriors new we need more because this is not enough because Lebron and the Cavaliers can neutralize us. It's really stick comes down to step at the end of the game, and that wasn't enough. The difference in the team. Okay, Lebron, they went out and they got Darren Williams, and the Warriors went out and got Kevin Durant. Hey, you just just missed Kyle Corver. I'm sorry. They went out and got Kyle Korver as well. But the Warriors went out and got a top five NBA player and Kevin Duran All of their problems will be solved. You can no longer have Okay, when it's time for them to lock down, Lebron's gonna be on Curry for a little bit, or Lebron will be on Draymond or whatever it is. Can't do that because you have Kevin Durant. Now, the Warriors have been waiting for this series for a year, for a year, and they've assembled the team now that is going to allow them to not make the mistakes that they made last season. And when you add during it, who is the guy who's gonna take these pressure shots? Now, this is not about They're still gonna get all their points in the flow of the game because Cleveland defensively is still up and down, so they're gonna get their points. But where this matter is at the end of games, in the final few minutes, instead of it being well, it's really just still gonna be Staff whatever he can do. Now it's Steph or Kevin Durant. And when you have those two options at the end of games, I don't see how the Cavaliers are gonna be able to do enough to get over them. I don't see how they can do enough to even win a game. I mean that this is the level that the Warriors are playing at and watching the Cavaliers still trying to figure it out get in there with the power of positive thinking and Lebron James's whole plan to sit back and let everybody get all kinds of confidence going in here. I don't know how Golden State has been at this level. They've been ready for this series now since Game seven ended last year. I don't see how the Cavaliers can make this a series against it, not not with the addition of Durant and what he's done and what he means at the end of games. Well, if the push it forward, there's two other things that that need to be considered killing, Like Thompson's played terribly and they're still boat racing everybody and Draymond Green. Whatever the message was, whatever is going on behind the scenes, message received. We've had no incidents, there's no issues, there's no fear, at least in this moment, that there's going to be any regression to what we saw last year, where at times playing out of control, finally getting himself suspended. He's curbed the technical foul run that he had. He said some fun stuff and some incendiary things on his podcast. Rather than that, he's between the white lines. He's just gone to work. So that's another thing you can't bank on is suddenly getting into his head as you could a year ago. Kevin Durant, if he's the guy that calmed it down, or Mike Brown has a different message for him than Steve. I don't know what the deal is, but the fact of the matter is you're coming in with the team that their best, one of their best options. Such an afterthought in Thompson end up being talked about it he's an All star and it's oh yeah, and Clay Times. Before this season, no, the best backport cord of all time, question mark, we had the hyper Lee but obviously there were columns being written about it and going through the metrics and and doing all that. And right now he's a guy that they list him third or fourth in terms of factors. If that so, when when you look at the way they're built and the fact that they can split up those big time players, which means there's never downtime, right if Lebron and Kyrie Irving and their tongue start wagon, you're bringing in Richard Jefferson and guys just spell minutes. Meanwhile, either Curry or Thompson is still running the show or your more iguadala is. I mean that they they just have too much. They have too much, and they they got through the minefield to get to this point. This is where this is where they've been for three d sixty days or well not there's three fifty days. This is where they've been and they got Kevin Durant. It would be stunning to me. I mean, I I don't I don't see how the It's hard for me to see the Calves getting a game. There's two games are gonna be in Oakland. That's gonna be two zip going back to Cleveland, and all right, we'll coming back. We're gonna win a couple of games. It's gonna not with this team, not with Kevin Durant. Early numbers for the degenerates out there se win probability for the Warriors minus to seventy of the Calves plus two forty. Who but a hundred to win too forty on the calv There you go, Bunny eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox Twitter at how about a fresco? The Jason Smith Show will continue this debate and to talk to former NBA player who knows a thing or two about the playoffs and winning, very very excited about sim Come on, man, you can't get into this conversation. But first, here's what's trending Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show. Jason and my bass friend Mike Harmon live from the Getic Studios called one seven Auto find out how much you can save on auto insurance? So the Cavaliers headed to the finals. Is this as good as it gets? Joining us now on the hotline. Casey Jacobson, basketball analysts for Fox Sports one Pack twelve Networks also get to see him doing a ton of stuff of the Phoenix Suns and now Stanford University graduate. Casey, what's happening, hey, guys? Man, I love that song in the background. Let's turn it up a little bit, though. Let's turn it up. Are you like in your underwear right now? Just dancing around your room? No comments, no pants? Thursday Here the Jason Smith Show, Fox More and Radio. Casey tells us why listen. I need a few minutes. Is this when you go and put your your your gear on and then get down to your underwear and dance around and play the fight song? Okay, we'll see you in about a half hour. Dead Oh man. I love my weekly visit with you. Guys. Hey, alright, let's start here. You know we we saw what we did tonight completely expecting this to be a blowout. It was. I don't know. This isn't as good as it gets for the Cavaliers. I'm trying to see a path for them to win the finals. But this Golden State team, the way they've been focused for this for a year, Cleveland's gonna have to hit too many threes. And when it came down to at the end of last year, the Warriors struggled who was going to take those big shots in the final minutes, and Steph Curry when he couldn't do it all the time, that was it. You go out get Kevin Durant. I think that erases all of those problems. Casey, I know, and it makes her a better radio. If I come on and I disagree with everything you have to say, but except for the underwear stuff, except for that. I was just talking with one of my best friends the other day and he asked me what I think about the Calves and the Warriors, and I told him that it's not going to be close unless something weird happens. I don't it's possible that it could be a sweep. I would never do that to Lebron though I have wan't much too much respect for him. He won't get swept, but I think this could be a five game series. Um. Look, step is healthy. Last year he wasn't and I'm not trying to make excuses, but he wasn't healthy. Uh, Draymond is not going to get suspended. Now. I can't guarantee that he's going to be able to control with the motion, but I do know that he's not going to get suspended, and oh yeah, they went out and got the second best player in the entire league and Kevin Durant, who is absolutely a man on a mission. The Warriors have made it so easy guys in the playoffs that we really haven't dissected how well Kevin Durant is playing. Dude like over shooting. He is absolutely motivated. I can't wait to see, uh this matchup, the individual matchup. I actually don't think the team matchup is gonna be that great. All right, So what you're saying is we're gonna go through a bunch of prop bats and over and unders on individual achievements because that's all we're getting. Well, look, basketball is a team sport, but it's a game of individual matchups, you guys. Basketball is a game of individual matchups. And I'm super excited. Regardless of who wins these games, I'm super excited to watch these individual matches. Kyrie Irving and Steph Curry are two They're the two best ball handlers in the NBA and arguably two of the best that I've ever seen. Clay Thompson and Jerr Smith two of the best flamethrowers, guys that can take over the game at the three point line on any given night. Durant and Lebron, Come on, man, I probably should have let off with that matchup. It came third in my lesson and about Kevin Love and Draymond Greene, who are probably the two X factors on their respective teams, guys that really make a huge difference when they're playing their games. So but again, I don't think Cleveland is going to push this just six or seven games. But that doesn't mean that I'm not gonna be on the edge of my seat watching every single possession and loving it. Who's winning in the coaching box Mike Browner or going on the other side and Lebron James. Uh, yeah, that's a good one. That's a good one. Mike. Um, I'm actually gonna go. I'm gonna go with my I'm gonna go with Mike brown Um. First of all, Mike's not alone. You know, I feel so terrible for for Steve tur but he has a week to prepare and help his team. Tyron Lou doesn't have a guy in the background, uh, you know, helping him out. Um, you know, he's got Lebron on the floor and he's got himself and and and some assistance, but no that the coaching matchup is gonna go to coach Brown and Ker. We're talking with Casey Jacobson right now on Fox Sports Radio. That Jason Smith Show Farm on Twitter, Cee Jacobson twenty three. That is Casey on Twitter Cee Jacobson Tree. No, the only thing you miss, Casey was you missed the real story, and that is James Jones is headed to his seventh straight. I mean, I don't know how you missed that. That's the real lead. That's so good. I love that. And so I watch most NBA games that I can, and I actually didn't know that or I had forgotten about it. And I laughed out loud when when Reggie Miller mentioned that, I mean Chris Webber, his his reaction was so funny too. You gotta give him credit for being smart. Really, man, Hey, look, you gotta recognize when you walk in the room, who's the smartest person in the room, who's the most successful? Go chat him up, get on his side, and you can make millions and be in the finals that many times. Good. James Jones, Well, you should be writing the book about taking the sequel to influencing people and winning friends. Write him and Jim Sorgy the books. They could write The Man Behind the Man. That's a book. That's a John Feinstein book, The Men behind Them and were the backup quarterbacks and the James Jones is right about what it's like going on that big magic carpet ride. Oh I don't think. I don't think I'm buying that book, guy, But we'd get to talk to Jared Lorenzen too. Jared Lorenzen hefty left at quarterback. Oh yeah, yeah, now I remember, Yeah, yeah, You're gonna go and you're gonna google him and you're gonna watch videos for the rest of the night. That's what's gonna happen. Hey uh. Obviously, with Lebron passing Michael Jordan tonight with most points ever in a career for the playoffs, he played in more games Lebron has, but he's taken fewer shots. There's a way to, you know, to sit here and take either side of the coin here. Any conversation with Lebron versus Jordan's is incomplete, But the best thing I can say is this, because Lebron is still in in the middle to the end of his prime. If Lebron goes to ten finals when it's all said and done, ten and he wins five of them, that's better than Jordan's going six for six. Because it's like you're penalizing. People want to make this argument. They want to penalize Lebron for going to finals and losing when that's not equal with Jordan's teams not going to the NBA finals. I mean ten finals and went in half of them. Casey, that's a big deal. It's a huge deal in modern sports. I'm with you all the way. Look, I have room for both. I was born one, so I grew up in Jordan's prime. As a kid, I wore number twenty three at Stanford and with the Phoenix Suns because of Michael Jordan's But now Lebron is my new favorite player of all time. Um he was last year. This this isn't a new development. This happened last year. I have room for both of them. Though. At the top of my hill there they both wore number twenty three. They can both will. We'll retired just twenty three. It doesn't matter what name you put on the back. But um, I'm with you on the fact that we We should never penalize somebody for getting to the phone. You know how hard it is year after year. It was so hard that Jordan had to walk away from the sport. And I know that that's talked about, its mentioned, um, but I don't think we we truly understand not only Lebron James is, you know, just the way he's been able to do it at the high level. But then adding the fact that I have never seen an athlete more scrutinized. We live in a different world with Twitter and Facebook and every YouTube videos. Um, Jordan wasn't perfect. He had stinkers. The other night when when Lebron had a bad game, and it certainly was a bad game, Um, everybody was all over him, like as if Kobe Bryant and Ai and Russell Westbrook this year didn't have thirty or forty games where they were they were stinkers. Um. So I just think we also have to give credit to Lebron for being able to take on that storm of being the chosen one. And I know he puts some of that on himself, but he's been able to handle it really well. Nothing but respect for Lebron. One of the best. Maybe Z best of all time basketball analysts for Fox Sports, one Pack twelve Networks. Former NBA or Stanford star Casey Jacobson on Twitter at c Jacobson Tree. And if you live across the street from him and can look via telescope into the room he's in right now, you'll see a man in his underwear, cardinal underwear, stancing around a trophy. How we do it. That's how we do it. Casey, thanks a lot, funny, appreciate it. We'll talk to you next week. Hey, they money during the finals. Come in for a night with us, hang out with us for an hour, so we'll arder pizza. You bet, I'm in all right there we go mean he's paying in case, he's gonna pay for it, but we'll still we'll order the pizza. There is that? Yeah, I throw that out there there. I'm just picturing Casey like with this whatever trophies he's got up and just underwear. He's he's the one that brought it up. I still owe you a pantsing from two nights. I think you've just pushed the narrative a little further, a little farther than we need it, farther further, farther, you're like Kent from Veep further Whom Whom? Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, Twitter at, how about a fresca coming up next? Maybe the most disturbing thing from Game seven of the Eastern Conference Finals, in fact, definitely the most disturbing thing from the finals. Next on Fox, Dann Mike Brown. Sorry, I said that stuff about how the Celtic were tougher to defend than you, guys. Man, I was just playing. I just say something nice. We were still playing against him, and Adam Silver wanted ratings for this game. But you, I really respect you, and you and whoever else winds up coach, and if Steve Kirk can't And I love Kevin, and I love Steph, and I love Draymond. Everybody loves Draymond. I like to say everybody loves Draymond like it's Draymond everybody. And I'm thinking of ray Romano because that's kind of funny. Do you like me? Now? Hit me back? This is Tehron lou p s. Don't call me Webster. It's a good question though, as you go forward to that. Did the Warriors have to designate a player coach like the Cavaliers have and tonight's player coach Lebron like anthem singers where they have to rotate? How does that work? And tonight's player coach James Hetfield heat Field quick update. Right now in game seven, we are in double over time. Pittsburgh and Ottawa tied at two apiece, and I gotta tell you, Mike, we just watched Pittsburgh get a couple of chances in front in front of them. What we don't play this guy, he's banned. Look it up, hit the Google machine. I have no patience for guys without any touch around the net, for guys who get the in front of the net and think I have all day to turn around and figure out how to shoot. I have no patience because maybe because when I played, I always knew, I always knew what I had to shoot, I knew much time I had. I have no pace for guys and oh I got it and they get it taken away and I just watched it happened three times in a row for the Penguins. You have talked about your prolific scoring pace, and we're gonna put that you couldn't skate. You were happy, but I still scored. As we watched from the Geico studios. It's just the old adage of just flip it towards the net, allow something to happen. Guy's penic. I got it, but let me dont he turn around to get nine? Oh we're going the other way? What happened? No patience for that, especially here. All you need is something flukey. This isn't a long drawn out process. You score, you win. Great news is a quick way you could save money. Switched to Geiko, Go to Geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you could say fifteen percent or more on car insurance. Well. The most disturbing thing out of the Eastern Conference Finals Game seven tonight was not the final score. One third the Celtics was pretty up. The defensive game plan of Brad Stevens is suddenly, Wow, we don't have Isaiah Thomas and we still give up a hundred and thirty five. Maybe Isaiah is not all our problems. Tonight we got to see, Unfortunately, Shaquille O'Neil's toe. Last name anyway in my life you much like that. Shaquille O'Neal showed the big toe on his right foot to the world tonight. His big toe. It looks like a snail, like a big fat snail has camped out where his big toe would be. It looks horrible, and he's moving it around it. It looks like I could just stick a pin in there and like it would either come out of air or like yellow puts would just start using out of his toe. Don't know that I needed the reference to pus uh the larger. Hopefully he's got, you know, the circulation. She's feeling all right and everything you know, you learn about differ diagnoses and issues going on. But when we look at this toe, it's like you haven't had it corrected. Is that the result of too many decambe mutambo stomping down and other big men over the years, Because that's that's all kinds of nasty going on there. And and the line at the end, I think it was Kenny Smith who said, you make too much money to have a foot like that. Yeah, dude, how did how does your foot still look like that? Millions of dollars? And now here's the thing we'd go on all these years without seeing it. Okay, So that that's one, you've been able to keep this under wraps. Two, if he's not in any pain, so be it where socks you just can't wear the big brand sliders around and whatever else. It was very I can't even say it was. It was so disturbing to have to see it. And I don't understand how someone with that kind of money walks around like that. How do you not have a new foot or you know what, I'm gonna take this toe off, give me a new toe, take a toe off, a cadaver, whatever it is, give me a new toe again. I'm great, Like I would like the further conversation. You have all the feeling in it. You got any nerve damage? Is it hurting you as you walk? I mean, if that's an issue, then yeah, get it correct otherwise and I'll tell everybody else to beat it. I just don't know why you had to show it. Twitter at how about Afresca? A twitter at how about Afresca? The Jason Smith Show Jason Mike Harmon live from the Geico Studios. We have a final in overtime. The Penguins beat the Senators. They scored just seconds ago. Give us five stars. We will love you forever and ever and ever and ever. We'll have more on Lebron and the Cavaliers as Lebron, James and James Jones headed to their seventh consecutive NBA Finals. But first the drama is over in the igloo and NHL executives breathe a huge sigh of relief. Cross me at the peng left pink So Chris come in plea bird, peng one at Ladies and Gentlemen. Alban As just left subulting Nits where the game winner and the peng Winker going on to play the Nashville Predator and Craig Anderson doesn't know whether the cross or wind his watch. Nobody better, well maybe Doc Emeric, nobody else better than Mike Lang. On the call Penguins Radio Network, Crosby t to Kunits for the game winners. So now NHL fancy and we got Crosby back in the finals, okay, because we were looking at a really bad Ottawa Nashville final that harkens back to Carolina and Edmonton. As far as popularity is gonna go, at least we got the Penguins back in the Stanley Cup final. Make the promos for Sydney. Crosby book every A list country music star for appearances. Go it's a beautiful thing. And now everybody is gonna be on Twitter saying stay away from my city, come in for a game, and then get out. You can't move here now. Coon. It's had two goals tonight, including the game winner on the knuckleball. Hadn't scorts its February. Yeah, kind of goals in your game seven? You know, Stanley Cup playoffs, and this is how it happens it's how it happened. He just one. You talked about a fluke and that's what we saw. What he got cald net funds. We were so dang close to the Senators and Predators, which is the equivalent in the NBA of like the Sacramento Kings and the Thunder. I thought you're gonna say the NIXT although that's the Western Conference. Yeah it was. It was awful. I mean it would have been terrible because look, look, the Hurricanes are my team. You know me old Whalers fan. It was awesome for me, but I realized for the NHL coming off a strike, the last thing you wanted was Carolina and Edmonton. You're like, oh, Mike, at least you got a thrilling seven game series and you know, my team one, which is pretty cool. You're you're talking about Ottawa and Nashville that you're talking about the NHL. Go we are leaving the map. Although you know what, tonight it was everywhere the number one trending thing in social media, despite the fact it was Pittsburgh and Ottawa. And you know what, maybe these NHL playoffs are gonna You're gonna get a new group of fans who are gonna help grow the game, because, let's face it, they've been a lot better in the NBA plays, not the NBA playoffs. Think I'm gonna watch. But when you start hearing about how good the hockey playoffs are, maybe one out of every thirty fan says, I'll maybe all tune in a little bit. They go, Wow, this is pretty exciting. Oh, you know, I like this Crosby guy, all right, can't stand this Crosby guy, all right, can't stand Jason Smith when he says nobody likes Sydney Crosby, which is true. I I gotta watch. It's exciting. Doc Emeric is very exciting the way it makes everything sound like that's the end of the world is coming. In fact, if Army Geddon was ever coming, I would want Doc Emeric to announce it. And the bombs are coming. Let's see where they land. Oh, it swept a side by an F fifteen fighter. Oh, they dusted off that fighter from top gun. Here comes Maverick and he shot another one down time out North Korea. He's not quite Gilbert God from the Crosber what he got. If the NHL were smart, they would get the series in right now. Starting tomorrow before the finals started to get seven games in, go do it? You got if that game tips off Thursday night, nobody's gonna care about that. Well, but that's what they've been helped. You mentioned the NBA and certainly blow out after bloout, and and tonight game seven that always just has that extra mystique. And again I just retweeted the reverse angle of this game winning shot and it's floating like a frisbee with the kind of over the side back and just the rotation is ridiculous. It's not a straight on shot, it's but you're helped with the the burial that you got at the hands of the Cavaliers over the Celtics, which, man, I want to watch sports, let me find something else. Wait game seven, I'm here. You know it was Crosby, the back handed pass, the knuckle puck. That that's how it is. Sometimes it's it's that thin a line in the National Hockey League, which is awesome because this is how because it's so thin a line, it's how eight seeded teams go to the Stanley Cup final and it's out one seed sometimes go home when it's what the hell just happened to us. This is the best part of the NHL play it's also the worst part because you get Nashville and Ottawa and teams that could go to the Stanley Cup Final. And it's not Golden State in Cleveland's not all your superstars. It's like you're it's like n c A tournaments. You're either gonna get a tournament with a lot of upsets, which means it's great early but it stinks later, or you get no upsets like the NBA, which means it stinks early but it's great later on. You know, it's one or the other. But I'd like to think that at least this momentum that they've had over the course of the past few weeks can carry over despite the fact it's Nashville. But it's Nashville, you know, in the United States, it's not you know, I like to see, you know, if the ratings stink in Canada, while they stink in Canada, but you've got Nashville. In Pittsburgh, you have country music music city that's a fun little you know, iconic uh or not not iconic but more of a cult thing. Hey, we can wrap onto music city in Nashville and the country music stars in the music scene and everything, and how much do they really know hockey, And that's kind of a fun thing versus the Penguins who have become look Penguins and black Hawks really are the NHL's version of the Red Wings who ran the NHL for so long in the late nineties and early two thousand's where you know, they were hockey town. It was it you wanted the Red Wings in the Cup final because they were royalty. Was Eiserman and and feder Off and Constantino before his accident, and it was Osgood and Mike Vernon, it was Sarah was all these guys. I mean, this is what you want if you're the NHL. You want Pittsburgh, you want Chicago, and you got one of them in well the beauty of the Predators. What you can do is go through just the defensive prowess against those stars of said Blackhawks and running through these playoffs of how they've been able to limit stars and take them out of games altogether, great game planning, great smothering against the boards and slowing down the puck and making it their pace of game. And that's the narrative for the next couple of days. As we await Game one is all right, what are they gonna do to slow down Sydney Crosby Because it's his time front and center for this series, make no mistake about it. So we'll have ample stories on him, ample stories on the pres d and then everybody along music Row lined up to sing in a battle. Royal Box Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show will have more on this. The Penguins heading to the finals. Meanwhile, also heading to the finals, Lebron James and the Cavaliers one thirty five, one oh two the final tonight in Game seven against the Boston Celtics. Gonna get a little bit of Kyrie Irving right now, who met the media a few moments ago talking about the big victory. Kyrie had another big game tonight, not quite the game he had in Game four, but now that he has grown his butterfly wings, Lebron James can step up and be the guy, knowing full well and trusting that Kyrie will step up when called UPOD here's Kyrie carry. You've been one of the most efficient scores in the NBA since you since you were drafted. Do you feel like you're playing your best one on one right? Now because you had at any point in your career. I just think I'm seeing the floor a lot better than I was in my younger years, um, you know, or previously before we had the team that we have now, UM there's a lot more spacing, UM, understanding where teams are coming from, uh to double team or come over and help, and just watching a lot of film. UM. It's just dedicated myself to the game. UM you're not eating it, not trying to skip any steps understanding that. UM you know, every game that I get a chance to go out there and play, UM, it's a chance for me to continually get better, UM, dominate and um you know in any fast of the game, and as well as lead my team and uh do whatever it takes. So that fearless attitude that I have, UM you know is now uh you know, definitely putting me in a position to be successful out there on the floor. UM. But none of that happens without the teammates that I have, UM in the unbelievable selflessness that they have. UM you know, that selfless nature allows me to be who I am truly. So just for that, Hello Julie from Globe, I was just curious to move. We just put on a crowd in the third quarter of that spinning to the step back. Just uh, can you describe how you put that sequence together and just where does that come from? Uh? Man Uh, just constantly watching Uh you know a lot of guys that have come before me. Um, you know, being able to create just enough separation to get my shot off. Um, you know, seeing the way the defense is playing me. But more or less, just um, allowing my footwork to be able to make up for my lack of athleticism that I have at the rim or Um you know, some of the speed that guys may have on me, or some of the aggressives that they that guy's uh try and um, you know, just it's a lot of dedication and a lot of hard work to it. But that seque monts is something that I've I've worked on plenty of times. Um and uh you know, I'm glad that the shot went in. The move doesn't mean anything unless the shot goes in. That's one of the things that my dad always told me. Um, you know, you could have a five million dollar move, but if you have a one cent finished, then you know who cares? So Um, the importance is utilizing the moves into at the right time, um, you know, and just seeing the week's hot action and uh, you know, just having your head on a swivel and just being complete, especially in those situations like that you had a five million dollar move but a one cent finished. I like that. That's T shirt work. It is five million Like here's the front of the T shirt, a five million dollar move and him spinning and a one cent finished and it's Lebron missing the dunk from Game four when it just pounces out and to look on his faces. Oh, I gotta be honest. I'm a little afraid of copyright problems, but I really think that the phraseology of this has applications outside of basketball, and I'll leave it at that. Kyrie Irving goes for any for tonight. He was plus thirty three, four out of eight from three point range, also dished out seven assists a couple of steels as well as the Cavaliers headed back to the Finals again one thirty one O two over the Boston Celtics, and as he began his comments, Jason, I like how he put himself in the path of being the grizzled veteran A come on, man, you played a year at Duke and then you've been in the NBA. Come on, man, come on, I mean, seriously, come on, We've been talking about you for a long time. Kyrie still waiting for Lebron James hit the podium. As soon as he does, we will bring it to you. But coming up next, we will have the sunny side for the Boston Celtics and also the definitive Lebron James. Michael Jordan's argument, this will end everything that's come up tonight because of what Lebron did in the middle of Game seven. That's next on Foxy Fox Sports Radio, that Jason Smith Show, Jason Mike Carmen. We are live from the Getic studios. The Penguins in the Stanley Cup final, Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. Remember if you're trying to figure out which is final, which is finals, remember this sentence. The NHL playoffs are better and that is final. You know, NHL is final, NBA is finals. We'll have more on Nashville getting ready for Pittsburgh coming up in a bit, But tonight was all about Lebron and the Cavaliers. As the Calves now head to their seventh straight NBA Finals and you already people are are tweeting and texting saying, hey, you played Kyrie Irving a few minutes ago. So m Kyrie. Usually he's out with Lebron. Lebron's with his guys, Kyrie or Kevin Loved, whoever it was, Well, Kevin Love just spilled the beans a few moments ago and said that it would be wrong for us to be out here with Lebron. He passed Michael Jordan tonight when it comes to overall points for a playoff career, so he deserves to have the podium all to himself. Now, what did it sound like when Lebron James became the biggest scorer in NBA playoff history, Well, it kind of sounded like this. Back to Lebron James, it goes for US three, he knocks it down, and Lebron James with that triple has just passed Michael Jordan's to now become the top scorer in NBA playoff history. Ka's Radio Network on the call. You can cut this up many ways, Mike. You can say, all right, well, yeah Lebron did, but he played in more games than Jordan did. But he took fewer shots, and you need to shoot to be able to score at least last time I check. You can cut this up anyway you want it. There's going to be the big Lebron Jordan's discussions again. You mean it hasn't already been going on for weeks upon weeks, and I some guys are working on their masters in sports talk radio and television with this as their their premise. This is what they're gonna have to defend this since Lebron one his second with the heat. As soon as he called himself the King, it was game on. But here's the thing. Any conversation and this will this will be the definitive Jordan Lebron conversation until we find out how these finals go for Lebron in the in the Cavaliers, any conversation about who is better Lebron or Jordan's is an incomplete one because it's not like the two were the same player. Jordan had a very specific set of skills and he accomplished, and Lebron has a specific set of skills different from Jordan's and he's accomplished. But you can't say who has turned out better because Jordan's Lebron is still in the back half of the prime of his career. It's his career is still going. It's just oh but look, but Jordan went six or six. Look at Lebron. This is his eight final. Now he's one. It's not over for Lebron yet. He still has more time. So any conversation is incomplete. But if you really want to have it, here's how it's gonna break down for Lebron versus Jordan's at the end. Yes, Michael Jordan went six for six, three in a row, retired for two years for whatever reason, one three more, had some injury problems early on in his career. Could have maybe played a little bit more at the end, but he didn't. Had he played, he would have probably won eight in a row. I don't see anybody stopping him in the two years he retired. But I can't give somebody credit for something that hasn't happened. Because we've seen all of Jordan's career. There's no more questions to it, there's no more things that are up in the air. If Lebron at the end of his career, and this is being conservative, if he goes to ten finals, which he's now at eight, I mean, this is this is Celtics, Bob Couzy, Tommy Heinz and Bill Russell. You're in your eighth bleep in NBA finals when you shouldn't be going to eight finals. This supposed to have parody in the league and teams. You're in your eighth NBA finals. If he goes to ten, right, which I don't think you can say he's not gonna go to ten. He's got at least two more years running the East, depending on what the Celtics do. But he's got at least couple of years where you think he's gonna get to the finals. If he goes to ten and he wins five, he surpasses Jordan's because people want to equate going to the finals and losing and not making it to the finals, like it's equal, and it's not. You can tell me till the count. Well Jordan was six or six. Yeah, that's fine, But all these other years he didn't make the finals. Yes, it was a couple of years he was out of it, but he didn't make the finals. You're talking about Lebron again. Like I said, it's incomplete, But if you want to do it, getting to ten winning five it's not like getting to ten and winning two. Then he can say, well he got there, but he only won twice, and you know Jordan did win six. If it's close, and he's almost gone to twice as many finals as Jordan did. That does it you know? Jordan apologies? Yeah, but this year we had to go not No. Lebron still found a way to get bad teams to the finals and he got there, found a way to get teams out. Even if you lose, you lose. That's much better than years you don't get to the NBA finals. I think there's there's a couple of things to be said. First, there's a great photo that one out. Dave mcmaniman put it out Lebron for his postgame photo shooting. I'm assuming sitting there at the podium wearing the Air Jordan ones and they put up a little Eastern Conference Finals banner as they're holding this silver ball. Uh Jr. Smith suggesting that they needed to go in front of that backdraft to avoid the quote old ask pictures in the background because it was all the Kevin McHale and everybody else on the walls there. But when we look at just the the Largesse of the situation in the the different phases of the careers. We're comparing different players, different positions, different skills, and even some of those numbers are closer than I think most people want to admit in terms of their overall just statistical work. When we get into the how many finals you hit, and we we start getting into great teams, good teams and what else was playing in the the era that these guys were playing. And for Lebron James, the number one thing that comes up time and time again, and I'll get to the moves in a moment, is the idea that we know on in October that there's not a challenger, barring Lebron himself getting hurt, that there's no challenger in the Eastern Conference. So when he left Cleveland, the first time state in the East went to a super team when it which already had two superstars, didn't get them convinced them to come to Cleveland, he needed to leave. So there's Jordan to wait that the and help my argument. He was he he was done at that point. Game as bad as it was to see it for for every NBA fan, not just the little kid from the South side of Chicago, but the idea being that there, there's all of that that's always going to come into the the argument of you know, not only did you get there, but how did you do it? And like everybody says, well, the bulls brought in Dennis Robin. Nobody wanted Dennis Rodman because he was nuts. He was he was a wild card. He was a guy that was still a great but it was I can control the guy that was, so they get a little more. You should get a little more credit for that. The other thing with the the Michael Jordan thing that I'll say is he was more of a corporate guy. Remember he always the line that always gets trotted out was how people buy shoes, Republicans buy sneakers? To write, the same thing went for being and and and we've had this discussion quite a bit when it came to resting and days off was right now the players look themselves more as partners with the league as opposed to employees of In Jordan's day, even with all the cloud he had, still went along the company line, could have probably barked for things. A lot of the conspiracy theorists wonder why he was gone for two years. Well, if he had power, he wouldn't have had to leave, now, would he. So you go down those there's a lot more nuance to it. But certainly ten is greater than six if we're just comparing now, right, because that's really and I said that, because that's really what you have to do, because for every argument you can say, well, Jordan did this, you know, I'm just facts is greater than six. I'm not saying in the argument Lebron Trump's Jordan because of that tent tent five and ten is greater than six to and ten is not greater than six. I mean, you gotta you gotta be close. You can't just get there and not again we caveat it all out. There's a million other things at work. But right so in terms of eras when we do these comparisons, because right now, by your argument, Tom Gray, he's the greatest of all time. I did not say that. But if we're gonna say he's been to seven Super Bowls, right, it's greater than Joe Montana had a lot of plays. Sure, he's you know even with no no, hey, if you're gonna put it over here, I'm gonna go Apple's down. But in terms of this go with Brady. With Brady, it's not also not done yet. I mean I think I think he's got seventies one four. You know that that's better than going four for four. That's it's better because you're not you know, you're not penalizing. You can't say, oh, because Brady got there and lost a couple Joe Montea, those are years Joe Montana didn't get there. You know, I'm sorry, but those are years he didn't get there. I'm still going with Elway and then Brady for now Brady wins another one or if he keeps playing then but John Elway is still to me, is the because he only got there and he won too. He's he got there forty five times and he won too. It's not that he got you know, Elway still to me because you know, seeing all their careers. But it's got to be close. You know, he can't oh he got one win, well, all right now, it's got to be close. Well like if they get to the finals this year and Lebron doesn't win all right now, now you're talking about eight and you've lost together. But did they go and get boat race? You know which, what does that count? If you run through what he is perceived as a deplorable Eastern Conference not a bad because even with the Celtics running to the number one seed, what do we say, what did everybody say? Number their number one seed? Because Lebron didn't care in the final month of the season, final two and a half months of the season as they tried to figure things out and tinker with lineups, defensive schemes and everything else. When they went played five basketball. Why he's not the m v P of the regular season, But we we laughed about the way they worked through. It's like, yeah, nobody's beating him in at least in the Eastern Conference. Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show, Jason Mike Harmon Live from the Geico Studios. What does Lebron say about the comparisons between him and m J He just spoke. You'll hear it coming up in one minute. But first, here's what's trending The Jason Smith Show, Jason Mike Harmon from the Guy Go Studios. Call seven Auto find out how much you can save on auto insurance. Well tonight, Lebron James past Michael Jordan's for first place all time most points scored in the playoffs in a career, and he met the media moments ago following the Cavaliers one thirty five to thirty one victory over the Celtics. What does he have to say about the now new round of Lebron Michael Jordan comparisons, Well, you'll hear from the king right now, Lebron. From the number that you wear on your on your jersey too. You know, just the way people have talked about this one guy be such a luminary in the game and you're trying to chase it. How do you put in the words passing Michael in such a the statistic that you know has a lot of stature in this game. Um, I think, well, first of all, you know, I wear the number because of Mike. I think I fell in love with the game because of Mike, just seeing what he was able to accomplish. Um. But I felt like Mike was so you know, when you're growing up and you're seeing Michael Jordan, you it's almost like a god. So I didn't never believe I could be Mike. So I started to focus myself one other players and other people around my neighborhood because I never thought that you could get to a point where Mike was UM. So I think that helped shape my game and UM, I think the biggest thing for me sitting here today after breaking the all time scoring record and playoff history is that, UM, I did it just being me. I don't I don't have to score the ball to make an impact in the basketball game. And that was my mindset, you know, when I started playing the game, I was like, if I'm not scoring the ball, how can I still make an impact on the game. And it carried me all the way to this point now and it's gonna care me for the rest of my career because scoring is um it's not number one of my agender Compassed to me Bob Shrump from The Citizen, I heard what you said about living in the moment, But is there a particular challenge about defending the time against this. I'm gonna be honest, I'm not really and uh, I'm not in the right mind to even talk about Golden State. It's too stressful and I'm not stressed right now. I'm very happy about our accomplishment. I have no I have no discussion Golden State is They've been the best team in our league for the last three years and then they added an m v P. That's all I can get you right now because I'm happy and I don't want to be stressed. They cause a lot of stress, and I would get to that point when we start to prepare for him. Jason, Jason Lord the athletic. You've said multiple times now that you're growing up, you never thought you could reach you Michael status. When did you realize you could? Uh? I don't have a I mean, you're on the green if you're not, I'm not a golfer. This guy right here to my left hand though, so he'd tell me what that man when we get on the bus. But you know what I mean. You're obviously in the discussion whether or not you whatever you like you said earlier, you're in that. Did you realize you could be? I think Jason, at the end of the day, for for for my name to come up in a discussion with the greatest basketball player of all time, Uh, it's like it was like wow, like I said, I did, I did pretty much everything that m J did when I was a kid. I shot fadeaways before I should have. I wore legs, sleep on my leg and folded it down so you saw the red part. I wore black and red shoes with white sox. I wore short shorts because you so you can see my undershorts underneath. I didn't go bald like Mike, but I'm getting there. But I'm getting there, but it'd be post career. Uh that's the only thing I didn't do. But other than that, I did everything Mike did. I even wore wristband on my farm, you know. So I didn't do the Whoper rank either. That was Mike. But I did everything Mike did. Man, I wanted to be Mike. And uh so for my name to come up in any discussion with Michael Jordan or Kareem and all these great guys that has paved away for myself and Tristan and Kevin Swish, it's like, so it's just a wild factor. I don't really have nothing to say, all right, whatever, You don't get the mustache that Jordans had the last copy. Don't get that mustad. It's a bad mustach. It's bad. Don't ever go to definitely a bad move. That a pr backlash, A lot of explanations. Now even let him do a commercial with the mustache. You're gonna go tell Michael he's gotta go shave No, not me. All right, let's shoot it and go. What if he gambles like Michael Jordan's might have to take two years off, might not get to that ten then Lebron, you get over the Canada, do some gambling or like you know, downtown Detroit, you go to Windsor and you know, lay some money now and now it doesn't happen allegedly anyway. The the quip about the hair was funny though, like you don't see that that policy got on your head. We see, we saw that hair, like like, come on, now you spray look so natural? Can tell? I like in answering the question to he always he made sure to get the all time scoring leader in playoff history. Phrase in there as well. Look take nothing away from it. I mean, it's a remarkable achievement. The guy has done it as best anybody knows. The way. You can. You can criticize the moving and the decision down to Miami. For me, the only thing that goes is with it is you were the villain, embraced the villain role, and he cried wind about that a little bit too much, complained outwardly about his teammates this year and didn't have enough firepower and they may not we may not see them win another game when and why? He doesn't want to be stressed, right, But in the moment, you think about all the huge games and after two lackadaisical to be kind efforts comes back and finishes off the Celtics and dramatic fashion. Eight seven ninety nine on Fox, Twitter at how about a fresca? That's twitter at how about a fresco? The Jason Smith showed Jason and my bas friend Mike Harmon. He sort of says, I don't you know this is so all right? He comes at it this way, Oh little old me, a comparison to the greatest, and he loves the comparison, and it's calculated, all right, How do I do the whole a false humility thing? And you know that's exactly what he's doing. And there's people and there's nothing that drives me crazier than people that do false humility, and Lebron is doing false humility. Okay, I get it. I get now. Because he's getting ready for the finals and really don't want to say, oh yeah, look what I've done what I've accomplished because you still have a series to play in a week. If you know, if he's doing this in the off season after another title, it's like, Okay, come on, dude, don't give me the false humility and fault. You know, the people in the bid, you people you watch on TV, listen to the radio that want to play the oh what, it's just little old me when you know it's false humility, and that's what Lebron James is trying to pull off here. But you can tell even in the false humility, he wants to talk about it. He likes he doesn't say and let me throw it all these other girls mention my name with Michael and Korean, all these other greats, all the other great George, Mike In and you know, and and don't forget all these other people that came a long time. I mean he look, he loves it. He loves the comparison, and he loves talking about it, even though he plays the whole lot. It's like it's almost like a poor man's Jerry Jones talking about Tony Romo, where you just want to get jonestock. You just asked him and he talks forever this is a little bit more thinly veiled then Jerry Jones talking about Tony Romo se they what they need to do to get him out of that mindset is hold up a picture of shacks toe. Why are you gonna bring that up? Because his kid apologized Fox Sports Radio than Jason Smith showed Jason Mike Harmon. We'll have more on Shack's foot coming up a little bit, but straight ahead, we will preview the NBA Finals, and I'll tell you why tonight is about as good as it's gonna get for the Cleveland Cavaliers. They may not get a game in the NBA Finals. I'll tell you why. Next Fox Sports Radio taking you through the night. Jason Smith, the man next me, Mike Harmon, give me a whoop whoop, Yeah, Bunny big Tip partying in the club robson Cleveland, not so much in Boston, but definitely in Pittsburgh. Give you a bad hip hop djy, I don't do you got you gotta whoop whoop, but you gotta be yeah, you gotta yell. I'll be happy to yell. Listen if you all right? Show me the Benjamin for the extra club work I'm doing and I'm in if you're if you're a rock and roll DJ, the lower you talk of, the deeper you talk, the better. That's kind of how it goes. Pretend you're smoking something on air. Sure, man, you are sure. But if you're a hip hop D you gotta be energetic. And there's who what you gotta yell? You gotta That's how it is, your SEO type. No, I just said, if you're a rock and roll DJ, you gotta talk with your voice. Sure you know, it's just like rock and roll. So deaf Lepard for the first time back in eighty one, Phil Colin was the real brains behind the band. And uh but I tell you what some of the troubador in l a and they just were fantastic. All right, here's a def Leopard song for you. Not that Pour Some Sugar on Meat, not that Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show. Great news, great news. We have days of Future pass on one of our TV's. Also, there's a quick way you can save money. Switch to Geico. Go to Geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you could say fifteen cent or more on car insurance. It was in ninety seven when Jack Nicholson. Jack Nicholson uttered the famous words what if this is as good as it gets? It's a very sobering statement. Helped push the career of Greg kinnear. It did. It also pushed the career of Helen Hunt a little bit. They let you in in a house dress. That's the most assulting step up and clash from Paul Riser. But tonight, But tonight, we watched the Cavaliers absolutely boat race the Celtics one thirty five, one oh two, Lebron James and James Jones going to their seventh consecutive NBA Finals, the eighth finals for Lebron James. Who's the better James? Night seven seven, Lebron j answered, James Jones, don't forget about Craig James. He doesn't. He's not Jermaine to this conversation. No Jermaine Jermaine Jackson. Not Jermaine James, Jermaine Jackson. That's why I stopped it. There's there's either or there's Jermaine Jones, but not, and it's Germany, and then which which is spelled right here right now? E s U S Jesus gotta list of the show last night, Oh By the way, don't forget. You can download the entirety of the show. Whatever you miss right after the show is over. Go to iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher. It's right there. Anything you miss on the show, you get it. Rate us, give us five stars, will love you forever again iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher. This is gonna be as good as it gets. With Cleveland Cavaliers. I'm trying to see a path for the Cavaliers to win the NBA Finals. Not only do I not see that, I don't see a path where they can even get a game. If they win a game, this would be a victory for the Cavaliers. Number One, the Cavaliers have to hit too many threes to keep up. And that's a gambit. You're gonna say a team is gonna get hot in threes for an entire series. I don't see it. Their defense is still suspect, and you can't go into a series against the Golden State Warriors with a suspect defense. Now that being said, all these things were true last year and the Cavaliers still found a way to win. But what's different one The Warriors will be more disciplined this year. Draymond Green is not gonna get suspended. He may kick people in the junk, but it's not gonna get him a suspension. They know they've been focused on this series for the last three and fifty days since they lost last year, and they found out at the end Steph Curry is not enough when we get down to our choices at the end of games and need baskets. It's really defaulting to death and sometimes he can't get the shot he wants to because a lot of it is I gotta sit back and I gotta hit the three. It's his quick release when people aren't expecting it. And there was no Clay Thompson can win games or Draymond Green can win games. It was staff or bust. The final possession where Kevin Love came out on him and play defense and didn't let Steff get free for a three that could have tied Game seven. Instead he misses, the Cavaliers get the rebound and they win. That was a big deal. That possession told the Warriors, we need something different. So what is different. It's the focus of the Warriors, and when you want to compare adding Kyle Korver and Darren Williams and the Warriors added Kevin Durant. All the Warriors problems. He takes care of all of them, scoring down the stretch, no worries. I can take over some games, it will be stuff with a big game. Some days will be Kevin Durant. But they're both always gonna have big games. The defensive advantage of Lebron being able to stick on one guy all right, when it comes down to it, I'm gonna guard Steph Curry. Can't do that now because if you put Lebron on Staff, it's gonna be KD. You put him on k D, it's gonna be it's gonna be Steff. So you can't do that the end of games. Now, the option is gonna go to Kevin Durant to score baskets. He can score streaky, he can score in a bunch. This is such a huge advantage. I don't see how Cleveland, who was still trying to figure themselves out and get to a most positive frame of mind with Lebron James's game that he was playing in game three. In Game four, I'm gonna sit back and wait for my teammates to step up, and then I'll become Lebron James again. I don't see how this translates into beating the Warriors. The first two games are at the Oracle. It's gonna be two is it going back to Cleveland? And I I'd like to see because I want to see an NBA final. I want to see a great NBA Finals. But we're gonna get a finals that is gonna be more in line with what we've seen during these playoffs, and that's blowout after blow out after blowout. Well, that's the thing is, we'll be watching it live and covering eight four. You here with your post game from the Geico Studios each tonight of the NBA Finals. And when we look at the way this team has gone through its progressions, you're more worried about Zaza Pachulia doing something borderline dirty on the court and not talking about Draymond Green. He's in the right frame of mind. He's doing his thing. Blake Thompson's an afterthought, right, he just went through the entire analysis and he and andre I Goodala weren't mentioned all. JaVale McGhee shocked in the fool and everything else. Still give them solid minutes in this run as they go through and grind through these blowouts that they've had time and time again. Clay Thompson's now had two plus weeks to work on his shot. And when you go and you try to shut down Curry or Durant and he's gonna be standing there waving all by himself, looking to take an open shot. I think there's just too many weapons for the Calves to win. But it's gonna be fun watching Lebron James lose his mind trying twitter at, how about a fresca? That's twitter at, how about a fresco? The Jason Smith showed Jason Mike comment, we are live from the Geico Studios. I mean, I'd like to see him. I don't see them getting a game. If they losing five, that's a victory. It's the Warriors are that loaded right now at this moment in time. Coming up next, we'll have more on Game five of the Eastern Conference Finals, more on Lebron, more on Shock's foot, and we'll hear from James again and the selfie rocking the world, not shocking. The Cavaliers win Game five in a route to get to the NBA Finals, shocking. One night after body slamming a reporter, Greg Ganefday actually won Montana's Soul House district in a special election. You're surprised there were a lot of votes that were already asked, which why are you having election day if you're allowing so many people to vote early? But so there were a lot of votes that were already cast. But he won by a decent margin. You know, still people came out to vote, and any any one seventy percent of the vote counted, he lad bite eight percent. That's a blowout. It's a blowout. The body slammed somebody that's my that's my house representative guy? Is it because people want to drive around Montana and go, uh, you know, I want to have that bumper sticker. Yeah, you see how tough our guy is. No body slam me if he asked a question that you don't like my child, you know, can beat up your honor students or one of those bumper stickers that you see on cars, like next to the stick figures that everybody has here in southern California on their cars. G and four Day at the victory speech, finally asked about didn't talk about it all day, but now finally says, oh, I'm sorry because he won, said I made a mistake. A supporter yells out, not in our minds. You know what this is where we're at in the country. There is now two thousand seventeen here we are. There is nothing you can't come back from. There is nothing. There is nothing you can do either in politics, sports, whatever it is. There's nothing you can't come back from. There's nothing. If you have enough people who believe in you for whatever reason, they will not leave you. They will stay because they hate the other side that much. It's different. Someone like Colin Kaepernick doesn't have enough supporters. So that's but if you do, if you ask, when you do something bad, people will forget. Oh that's okay. You can body slam a guy if you want to. Will still elect you to Congress. They have no problem. There's nothing you can't come back from. The election show the presidential election showed us that. But there's nothing you can't come back from. Yeah. This one I thought was we talked about it last night as the news was developing, that this was going to be your outcome because you've you've got a segment of the population will say that's my guy. And if they hadn't voted already, they're already in and if they had voted previously, I mean there's a possibility that this comes up for a recall immediately. I mean there's there's lots of ways the political process will continue to surprise you. But in in this evening, this will be bigger than Lebron James passing Michael Jordan's on the scoring list. This will be bigger than Sydney Crosby and the Penguins advancing to to defend the Cup. No, this is this is a pretty big deal. Uh, And certainly on social media, it's now starting to win the evening over anything. Lebron James wanted to say, when you know, don't compare me to Michael, but what if you're going to Hey, let me throw some extra data on Justin Frostburg has some freaks in here from Montana. This justin, guys, I'm being told Phil Jackson legally voted for this guy who the playoffs. Here, I'm just picturing Phil Jackson's like with a whole bunch of fritos, trying to go in and out and keep voting. I'm Phil, I'm voting and just texting them in I'm Phil. I'm voting again. I'm voting again, like it's American idol, and you just keep hitting the send button. Vote vote. But Phil, you were asleep on a bus. How did you vote so many times? What if we only let Phil Jackson vote? You know, that's something I'm gonna go out. I'm gonna go out to my home, sit in the desert for days. You know, maybe bring some things with me. They're gonna help me get through those days. May start seeing what's wondering. If you were going to jump in and sayings like like twin peaks, I might be stuck in the black lodge for a while, and then I was gonna say sweat lodge. But you know, and then Carmelo Anthony may come and dance in front of me and say you last trade me to the Clippers and get Red Dick back. I'm pretty sure he went a body slam Carma. We have video tip him flailing about it is sanctuary where seeing ghosts, seeing visions. We respecter of Carmelo Anthony want we were right last night when we said body slamming to decide big things like politics or extra inning baseball games or NFL over to know we could have done that with double ot. No no, no, I want to keep it in hockey. No no, no, I don't want to preserve. But they fight better than everybody else. So maybe we just put Lebron and k D in a ring and whoever gets body slam first wins the title. Katie's got no shot. He can't bet on, he can't betch. We don't know. But he still has to the body slam him. Is the objective whole Cogan picked up Andre the Giant. Anything's possible. Brother Lebron would just say, hey, Katie, they called you, uh Mr undependable, right and that Okloma said, oh don't cry, Katie, don't all here. Let me pick you up in body God's Canada rants mom. That's how he saw things. But no, keep the sanctity of the NHL playoffs. So, by the way, Penguins and the Predators now in the Stanley Cup Final. After the Penguins beat the Senators three to in double overtime, and you brought us the stat of the night, kun it scores to win the game. Yeah, he had two goals tonight. Sidney Crosby sets him up with the knuckle puck that wins it in double overtime. I feel awful for Anderson. He's played so well, but you get one of those when the when the knuckle puck goes up and it lands comes over your shoulder. There's nothing you can do, so depressing. Depressing for the reverse angle. Not only do you see how the puck is knuckling, you see he doesn't react. Now It's like it's like you can tell behind his mask it was okay, he's down. It's oh, like he knew, you know, it's gonna land over my head. But Kunits hadn't scored since February six, and he had two goals tonight. This is what's awesome about the NHL playoffs. And when you look at the NHL playoffs in the NBA playoffs, you see two different versions of the n c A tournament. We either get an n c A tournament where we get a bunch of upsets early, which is really exciting. In the first few days are just mass anarchy and everybody's going crazy, but then we get bad matchups later on. And that's what happens in the NHL playoffs this year. Because we saw all the upsets and we were close to having Ottawa and Nationale in the Stanley Cup Final, which is the last thing the NHL wents. Oh my god, but they got lucky. They got Pittsburgh in who was a n h L royalty Pittsburgh, the black Hawks, and if the Red Wings were any good, those three teams would be Look, the Red Wings carried the carried the torch for a long time through the seventies, early two thousands, and now it's been the black Hawks and the Penguins with Crosby the last few years. The NBA playoffs is the opposite of the n c A Tournament's an n c A tournament with no upsets, which means the first few days are gonna be hey out and watch the games. Got drunk, but nah, it wasn't very exciting. But when you get down to the end, you get incredibly good games in the Elite eight, in the Final four, in the National Title game, you get that. It's it's it's Those are the two versions of the playoffs we're having right now. Unfortunately, it's that in a lot of the the NBA, down the stretch, we just got we just got the best, We got the two best teams. But now we have the chalk playing for it all and we'll see that a week from tonight as we'll be in the Geico studios breaking all that down to you. So now we look at the Stanley Cup final and we get sid the kids, so they get their star power. NHL executives and network executives certainly celebrating his return to the big stage and all the stats and data that can accompany it. For Nashville, we have all of what they've done defensively to slow down the big stars in each of these rounds, including the number one seeded Blackhawks, and they're they're big guns. But the bigger story is going to be if we're drafting, if we're doing a draft of country music stars and we can't have repeats. If you already did it, you're done. Okay, you blew it, Okay Underwood, you're out. Jennifer Nettles. Then Christian Bush shows up and it's sugar Land because it's different show, Like he gets one? Way, does Chris Gaines get one? Does he get the national anthem? He should? That be fantastic? Uh? Willie Nelson think the national anthem? I think we can do that. You know, you just gotta bring out everybody after you don't you do do a we are the world have all the great country. Probably gonna get two games, maybe three, but you never know, but you're gonna get two games. And you bring out like night one is like twelve singers. They all do a line or two from the national anthem, and then the next night it's the same thing, or they just come out and do like you know, a great country music song of the past. We're gonna do all my exes living Texas instead of the anthem. Everybody had a one and at two and at three, ladies and gentlemen, Mr Charlie Pryce, because oh my getting to George straight back in their sports Texas. I'm still waiting to hear for it doesn't matter Texas Nashville music. No, No, George straight might be fighting over that. Then again, he built a lot of those those bungalows that that house executives and lots of gold albums. Twitter and how about a fresco the Jason Smith showed Jason Mike Harmon. Meanwhile, for Lebron James, he passes Michael Jordan tonight for most points in the playoffs in a career. He played in many more games than Jordan did, eighteen more games, I believe, but he's taken less shots, so you can kind of part that out. How you want three more games? Sorry, thirty three more games, he's taken less shots. When Lebron was asked about this after the game, he didn't shy away from it, didn't say he wanted to talk about it, but also didn't shy away from being compared to the biggest thing for me sitting here today I have to break in the all time scoring record and playoff history is that I did it just being me. I don't have to score the ball to make an impact in the basketball game. And that was my mindset. You know, when I started playing a game, I was like, if I'm not scoring a ball, how can I still make an impact on the game? All right? Stop it right there, and stop it right there. This is a window into what Lebron James really wants. We talk about false modesty right and Lebron James right now is living false I can't stand it. There's people I know in the business that are the worst at false modesty. There's I'll tell you I should write. I'll write a book one day when I'm all said and done, I'll write a book one day, I'll tell you, you know who was a real you know what, but wanted to pretend they were really modest. Oh, really little old me. I'll tell you some Listen, you're gonna go, oh, yeah, yep, you're probably yep that right now, Yep, that guy right there. But listen to Lebron. For someone who says, oh, you know, hey, being compared to the all time grazer, how about the fact he doesn't just answer the question you know where where normally you would you would just say, hey, Lebron, how do you feel about passing Jordan tonight? Well, you know, it's it's a great honor. It was something that I'm very bad. No. Listen to how when he answers the question, he makes sure to say, you know, passing Michael Jordan's for most points like he felt the need he had to say it because I want everybody to realize just what I've done played again from the beginning. The biggest thing for me sitting here today I have to break into all time scoring record and playoff history is that. Did he have to say it? Did he have? No? Of course you didn't have to say. That's what we're talking about. We're talking about this, but no, no, I want to make sure I say it so when this SoundBite is played back or it's another reinforcement that you hear me saying, this is what I've done. I've broken the all time record in playoff scoring tonight that was previously held by my Chael. Jordan's well, he had to speak it into existence. And then he proceeds to say, well, no, no, no, he score the ball. That's always my favorite score the best score the ball. But and that's fine. He's just at this point he's just pontificating and telling you all about his greatness, but saying, well, you know, scoring is great and all, but look at what I look at everything else I do. So it was don't compare me to Jordan. It's nice to be in here, but I do a lot of other things, don't. It's not a one to one Fox Sports Radio, the Jason Smith Show, what he Got Golden Headphonds. It's like almost he screened these questions yesterday like they were prepared. Might it might have been you're gonna win Game five, Lebron, Can we get you these questions? And now so you can think about him. The only thing I've been thinking about the entire entirety of the post game, about my great for you except for you, Kenny, Kenny today or did they tell him to beat it? It was in Boston, he might have traveled, Kenny, they won Ken. He wasn't going here. He was on a plane just in case. But then he had it landed. Sorry, everybody, We're gonna have to turn this plane around because the Cavaliers are beating the Celtics by thirty in the fourth quarner. Kenny Roada no longer needs to get to Boston to ask Lebron a post game question. So just sit back and Joe, we'll get you some free peanuts, and we'll have one more round of beverage service for you. And you can look at Shack's foot on your television screen and just see how disgustingly large that is. I'll have a great rest of the flight. We'll be ready for our final approach. Greatest troll job ever. Though. He calls in and someone's got him on FaceTime. Hey, Kenny Rhoda wants to ask a question. Had they lost Mary kay Cabot Cleveland plane dealer. I have Kenny Rhoda on facetide. He'd like to say this here holding Lebron to Lebrone holding the phone, asking him coming up next. Hey, a very big anniversary today, and the sunny side for a team that just lost by thirty three. More on the NBA Playoffs, Box m Cowboys, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show, Jason and the Best Friend, Mike Harmon. Maybe during the Stanley Cup Final, we'll have to adopt Southern accents and talk like this. See what I would like to do is just talk like Boyd Crowder from Justified. Well, Raylan, you want to say some kind of hooki jukie stuff about my family, I will tell you one thing. Boyd Crowder doesn't let that go now. I would default to Boyd crowding. I'll steal Frostberg's bolo tie. I already have a cowboy hat in the chaps. So we'll head down in Nashville and get after it. Box Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show, Jason Mike Harmon from the Geico Studio Cowboy. Once the Stanley Cup Final begins, it's gonna be a lot of country music. I hope you're ready for it. I hope you're ready Me and and and and also now I know country. I want a program of country channel. I want in. There's also a lot of people who would like, you know, we make the yelling at the club, but now it's the yell we get the honky tonk no, no, no, not now from last night, A call back to tonight, A call back to last night, me talking like characters in the Black Lodge in Twin Peaks as part of the show. Okay, good good, it's a new bit. I like Crosby, but none of the players. Do we do a whole show the Black Lodge. Yeah, we did great, great numbers with Sydney Crosby. You had the Black Lodge stuff to it. Think about how viral that goes from the studios. Lebron James is not Michael Jordan done yet body he could pass him with the finals up here, rands his this is borderline and you're playing something backwards like a Beatles album or you know, is called Dead or or something from Ozzy Osbo where you're unleashing the gates of hell, which means I've got to commit and get after an exorcism here in the studio, come on, hey real quick. Oh by the way, Star Wars turned forty today. How about that kind of a big deal. Forty years ago today, Star Wars was released in theaters. Had a long time today talking with Zoey about that. Zoe, can you imagine because it's always a Star Wars and Harry Potter freak. I told it was forty years ago today, that Star's release. He was, can you imagine Daddy being six years old and going to see Star Wars? My dad said, he goes, I've never seen a Star Wars movie like he wears it like a badge of honor. I have to put that on his tombstone one day. Here lies Walt never watch a Star Wars movie. But she was like, wow, Dad really se yeah, you know. And my wife was would have been seven or eight um when she saw because she didnt see it in the theater for the first time until after it but not a long time. But and you know, I was thinking about it today and she says, Dad, what do you remember from the first time you saw the movie? I said, you know, honestly, it was the second movie I had ever seen. My first movie was Raggedy Ann and Andy, which the most exciting thing was the popcorn. And I spilled it, and my aunts still bought me a bunch, which was awesome. But then I went to see Star Wars and I still at this point had no idea what to expect. I mean, look, I'm like, you know, I'm six years old, and the beginning of the Star Wars opens and it's the rebels. They're all running to get in that spot on the ship where the the Stormtroopers are gonna break through and everything, and there's a big the lasers are going back and forth, and the Stormtroopers break through, and I'm like, what the hell is this man? What? Who are the what are these people? And the what? And then Darth Vader walks through the smoke for the first time, and I remember I sat down in my seat and I was like, who is this? I'm scared, but I'm also really excited. In Hollywood had me forever. After the first time I saw Darth Vader walk through this phone, I remember going through the whole thing and thinking, well, the Stormtroopers are bad shots. Yeah, were bad and and Hans shot first, but that was their best shooting experience. Was the beginning of a new hope because what they got they broke through and they shot enough people, and then Darth Vader gets through and they get to the ship that someone fart What was that for? I can't tell you. That was the next level. So you know that was their best shooting experience. They the beginning of a new hope and executing Order sixty six and when and when they helped and when they helped win an attack of the clones. So in two parts of movies that they actually shot pretty well the ter But now you add into the fact that we we had the data from last yeah take that for data that we had last week. That you've got a bunch of people naming their kids Kilo and nonsense like that. So it's gone to the next level. That's disturbing, problematic. He's the bad guy that slaughter Jedig. The larger, larger issue is once he sees the movie, he's gonna think he can wine like Kylo ran did Ah and start breaking things in your house. But fantastic thing seeing everybody posting pictures of themselves as kids playing with toys. You know, when we had the original Star Wars figures, you lost the lightsaber battle, you lost a limb, might have lost your head. Because we had a lot of guys that were glued back together back in the Harmon household. Sometimes you're getting into the cage with b a Baracus or the Road Warriors. I mean, you ever knew how it was gonna end be a Baracus or the Road Warriors. We're gonna play a team and wrestling everything the world's collided in the Harmon house it's no separation. We we all found all those universes came together Twitter at how about a Fresca The Jason Strift Show now tonight Obviously we spent a lot of time on the Cavaliers and the Warriors meeting for the five Els in the third straight season. Finally we're getting to a series and everybody really wants to see. But real quick for the Celtics, who got absolutely boat race tonight number one. I believe all the you know, they may be better off with Aya Thomas. I think those conversations are all done now. Oh he's not good defensively while they let up one thirty five tonight at home to Cleveland. Now, it doesn't change the fact that he's not good. But you can't tell me that, you know, you can't say all Isaiah Tom they may be better with that. I get that's a popular storyline because they've been playing without in the last couple of days. But any team, it's not unpopular that a team loses their best player and for a couple of games continues to play great. They're playing on the vapors of Okay, here's what we do. We all step up now, and that adrenaline is flowing and coaches figured out something different and we're playing well these first couple of games without him. But then what happens. Eventually the other team sees what you're trying to do and you realize you don't have the athletes, you don't have the stars to win games, and you get systematically destroyed. And that's exactly what happened to the Celtics. For the second half of Game three, it was we're doing something different and we're coming back. Oh boy. And then the first half of Game four, but then slowly the Cavaliers, when Lebron James decided I'm gonna play again, step back up and they completely outclassed the Boston Celtics. So number one, that's out the window. The whole Oh they're better off of that. That's done. Secondly, if I can't be Golden State, and I can't be Cleveland. The team I want to be in the NBA is Boston because you have seen them. Now traditional power in the NBA get back to where they were. They finished top of the Eastern Conference. They lose to the Cavaliers without Isaiah Thomas last couple of games. That's no shame, and now they sit all right, we're back now. Brad Stevens is a phenomenal head coach. Phenomenal coach rings around Toronto, lou for this playoff series. The only reason torontolu one is because he out after an ounce superstarred the Celtics. But you have now a situation where you have a pretty deep and okay supporting cast, not great, but you have a superstar in Isaiah Thomas. You have the first pick in the draft, and you can easily pull a free agent to come play in Boston. Whether it's Gordon Hayward, whether it's Paul George, come play here. We're about to be a team that we're gonna be the top of the Eastern Conference for the next seven years. Now you can come. Now, you know this this blow out the hands of the Cavaliers. It was okay because they lost without Isaiah Thomas, and they actually won a game without him, so it was okay. It was very rocky for a little bit. But now you can say, hey, I can be part of that missing piece, and Paul George can go there, Gordon Hayward can go there. You can keep Isaiah Thomas. You can say, you know what, twenty eight years old, with a couple of hip surgeries, we're gonna move you and do whatever you want to do. Number one pick in the draft is coming Mark el Folks, who could be the next Derrick Rose, hopefully a little bit healthier, because that's kind of game he has. It reminds me of that's the team you want to be. You're You're you're traditional power, You're in a big market, you are at the top. You have a great draft pick. You have a superstar who you have no problem assimilating. There's nobody who's gonna say I can't play with Isaiah Thomas. He has already said, hey, Mark el Fults and I can co exist. We talk on the phone all the time. That's a superstar. You can say I can go play with him, and it's okay. That's the thing I want to be Boston. If I can't be Cleveland with Lebron, or I can't be Golden State. Well, that's the attitude of a guy who just became a superstar. So right now that works. We'll see how that plays as you go forward, particularly as he's looking for a new contract coming off an injury. But it does give them a lot of flexibility and makes them the most intriguing team as much as we love watching what maybe the next part of a soap opera with the Lakers, but the Celtics holding all the cards and having a lot of opportunity and options to build on what was a fantastic season. Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show, Jason Mike Harmon from The Guy Goes Studios in one minute, dude, the two biggest things you need to know about Lebron James after tonight. But first, Tom Looney's got what's trending? Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show. Hey, everybody, you got the Predators in the Penguins in the Stanley Cup Final. You know this song? This one though she thinks my tractors sexy? That is right? And old Ebuddy Goody from Kenny Chesney. Wow, Okay, all right, you know what. Like I said, my country music knowledge is limited to the few big songs that I like and all of sugar Land's repertoire. So I am down for whatever we find out about country music in the next week. Had a big deal. He's taken over the vibe, the Island vibe of Jimmy Buffett and extended that brand. And now he goes with his caravan around. I'm supposed to see a concert with Troy Aikman at some point, Kenny Chesney show, Wait you and Troy, we are going to a concert. So we had him on the show once upon a time. I was in in Dallas for New Year's Eve and he was at a table x to us watching a show and men and then and when we had him on our Sunday morning football show this season, we brought that up because when we should go see a Ken Kenny chest show. So when he tours again, I'm planning on calling in that ticket. Hey, Troy, remember me and Mike Carmen swelling down? When are we going? Buddy? Come on, I'll play back to the audio. He should have showed him your cals Do you remember you? Hey? Remember these calves? Day? It was New Year's eve. I was dressed well. He used to day a country musician along, but she's a lot. She was like she was well, okay, yeah, he was like in his early twenties, but she was like almost forty. Yes, it was kind of a big deal. Okay, how does Lorie Morgan look now? Get get Lorie Morgan up on your computer. There Two big things to know about Lebron James tonight Number one, he didn't body slam anybody to win, well, not literally, well figuratively. He was like called running wild in the mid eighties happening. Two big things about Lebron James following the Cavaliers one thirty five one O two victory tonight number one passes Lebron James for most points all time in the playoffs. If you want to have a Lebron James Michael Jordan's conversation anyone you have, it's incomplete. You can't have it. It's you know, it's fun to but I feel like we we gotta have the conversations that means something. And you can't say all Lebron versus Kobe and Lebron versus Jordan's because Lebron's career is not done yet, Kobey's is done, Jordan's is done, Lebron's is not so. And you can cherry pick your argument and say I like Lebron because of this, and I like Eyeside with Jordan because of this. But you're just picking what you like the most. So the best thing to do is to say the accomplishments. That's the one thing you can say. Mathematically. What can we say when you're talking about Leader playing its winning championships if you want to play that game. If Lebron James finishes his career with ten finals appearances, ten, ten is a lot. Ten, it's one more than nine. It's a lot. He may go to eleven or more because he's thirty two, when he's got at least three or four more years left of the back side of his peak. If he goes to that many and he wins five, that's better than Jordan's. That's better than Jordan going six for six, because going to the NBA finals and losing is much greater than not getting to the finals. And I know people like to say Jordan Jordan's six for six, he never lost, didn't look at well. Now, first of all, Jordan's did lose a lot of years that he didn't win the finals. Those are years that he lost. Just because he got to the finals and didn't lose, that's not a negative stat for Lebron James. That's a positive stat. Getting to the finals and losing is greater than any other year Jordan didn't win a championship. So as long as Lebron gets close with titles, it's not gonna be a discussion. You can say all you want when you say, dude, ten finals, eleven finals, five wins, that's Lebron. Yeah, but it's always gonna be a discussion as as we're having this discussion now. Bill Russell's over here waving at you with all his rings, right, he's gotta grow extra fingers. It's like that. All the arguments about great baseball players, no we ever mentioned Jogi Bearra, the guy dominated. It was a lynch pin. It was the key to so many titles. But because he didn't have sexy statistics out a year to year basis and didn't have any of these all time numbers, he got left in the dust. Bill Russell, that's why he was salty all these years, because nobody ever included Wait, how come it's always cream abdul Jabar and no talk of me. Well the league was different, Okay, well we're gonna play that game. We play the same thing in terms of rules and how things have changed between Jordan's era and now we look at the East every year, what do we do. We we have a roast. We might as well get a bunch of comedians in from the comedy store or the improv or groundings or whatever, and just haven't come in here and go through a full on roast of what the Eastern Conference is serving up on an annual basis. Because back on Halloween we just wrote calves in really big bold letters, and then we we had might as well have had shots and forced people to put up a ridiculous Hey, here's another team that can compete, because that's what it is. So we start going down and you can start parsing the argument into all these different caveats. Tens greater than six, Yes, that's a mathematical truth. Plus ten is greater than six. Two plus ten is less than six. I don't care. He's got to get close to Jordan's it's a crazy new math. He's got to get close. But he wins three three plus ten is not greater than six. But the point is always going to be you're you're gonna have the eras separated, and people who are in the Jordan camp aren't going to be suede people who are in the lebron because it's the now and what they've been writing about or tweeting about, or the highlight reels or their marvel marveling over the fact that he hasn't aged, including his hairline that suddenly got restored unbelievable, that they're not going to change their mind either. So we'll have a nice impass to where it's gonna come down to body slams like we've been talking about all along, and whether football, basketball or baseball's your sport a choice, you know, the key to winning is a strong roster, and great coaches know having the right players comes from scouting in all the right places, which means Jets go get a quarterback. Cavaliers Fans, earmuffs, bud earmuffs, Fox, take off your uniform, take off your cleats, take off your jockstrap. Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show, Jason Mike Rmen Live from the Geico Studios. Great news. Want to save some money while I'm gonna tell you right now, switch to Geiko. Go to Geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you could say fift more on car insurance and then maybe he'll be doing this. That's what's happening right now in Cleveland. So what happened right now in Pittsburgh and in sorrow happening it all over the city of Boston. Stay in your lane. You know. I was surprised. I thought tonight LaVar Ball would make an appearance on the show. However he did not. I was probably we have but no, But I mean, like as a topic, you know, oh, we're not gonna work out for the Celtics, but we're gonna work out for the seventies six or is out, you know? But no, we was a LaVar Ball free show. Good what do you got called netphones? He might have tried to call him, but Drew Brees won't hang on. I think he's pumping tiede today. Eventually we're gonna have to talk to him. Well, he's trying to complete his BINGO card, so he needs just for the show won't pick up the phone. I don't understand. Uh. Timed out for the play The Night Brought to You by Geico, and it was a knockdown, drag out battle. Doc Emeric made it sound incredibly good. I mean it, if the end of the world is coming, I want Doc Emeric to announce it on television so I can at least watch it. Because he can. I could be walking to my recycle bin with a soda can and he could make that sound like the fate of the world depends on it. Zombie apocalypse would be pretty fun too. It's Jason Smith. He's finished the soda into the kitchen to the recycle bind and no, it falls out, It rims out and insta ground. He's gotta pick it up and put it back in. Oh my time out, Doc Emeric could do that. Not bad. You gotta get a couple more verbs in. There comes the North Korean missile. It falls into the water. Oh the fifteen doesn't have to waste the missile. There goes mamrickan goose. Oh my goodness, here it comes stop gun too, well, I said, who's just coming back? He has to do you know. Oh, by the way, even if he's just an apparition. He's just a little little fuzzy Ale Guinness like figure tweet of the week. Oh, by the way, and I know we have a full day. We did the whole top gun to stuff. Like two nights ago a top Gun two was announced. Was a somebody tweeted me and said, oh my god, you guys spoken into existence. And I went right back to him. Really, did you think it was just a coincidence? We said, hey, they top gun two and and and he read the next day that it was gonna be made quiet. We did, We did exactly that. We did exactly that. Oh and there's Maverick and so he hits the brakes. Oh, the enemy flies by bomb it's an explosion. Tweety Now Ice Maan is worried. He's got no missiles left. Slider doesn't know what's going on. Maverick's gotta come to the rescue. Oh he defeats the bandit with the right nicely done. That is brilliantly played here in the Geico studios look forward to putting that in animated form at some point. Now Maverick is upside down communicating with a MiG Oh he's giving him the bird. My goodness, no al's barred and another body slammed. But it is Mike Lang, long time Penguins announcer, and not between him and Doc Emeric. None better in the history of the game with the call and the Penguins in double overtime thanks to coon Its Chris come Penguin at Ladies and Gentlemen. Alban has just left the buildings. Coonis were the game winner and the Penguinker going on to play the Nashville Predators. Oh and Craig Anderson doesn't know whether to cry or wind is watch. Elvis has left the building. That was the call. He's got a million of them, a million of them, but that might be my favorite. Well, we'll just have to keep track of the verbs. We've got interns now for the summer. That's gonna be the job for the Stanley Cup Final is to just chronicle every verb that Doc uses for shooting the puck. There's baffles it forward. You're playing the night brought to you by Geico. Great news quick way you can save money Switched to Geico. Go to Geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you could say fifteen percent or more on car insurance. Now to the NBA Finals, which I am afraid is going to be much like the playoffs that we have seen so far. We've been waiting so long for this series. It's here Warriors and Cleveland. If Cleveland gets a game, that's a victory. The Warriors are a different team than last year. They added a top five player in Kevin Durant. The Cavaliers defense is to suspect they're gonna have to hit too many threes to keep up. The Warriors have been waiting for this series for three hundred and fifty days. The Cavaliers are finding their way to get in their right frame of mind to play this series. All the weaknesses that the Golden State Warriors had, what they were gonna do at the end of games. They're gonna get one dimensional. It's just Steph Curry. Lebron can lockdown Curry for a few minutes. You can't do that anymore. With Kevin Durant, He's the big reason they're gonna win the first two in the Oracle, and they're gonna win. Like I said, if the Cavaliers get a game that is an accomplishment, I'll take it. Take it in five. They will steal one at home and that that'll be it. It's it'll be a quick, decisive series. We'll see if they can finish the historic run the Warriors, that is, given the margin of victory and just the depth that that team brings to the table. Igodala. We talked about Clay Thompson earlier in the show. Get it on iTunes, uh as soon as the show's over Stitcher or Google Play, give it five stars and hear it all. But Klay Thompson has been a non factor in the playoffs. You're gonna have to account for him now and try to close out because if you try to go to towards Lebron, uh Lebron covering up Steph or or you pick a poison he goes after Durant, you still got three point shooters galore to carve you up. And trying to match three pointers with these guys, it's a bad way to be I'd love to see a path for the Cavalier twin because I want a big Finals. I hope I'm wrong. I'm not, but I hope I'm wrong. From my Carmen, I'm Jason Smith. Twitter at how about Afresca? That's twitter At how about Afresca. My buddy Ben Miller, he is next
