Jason Smith tells you why J.J. McCarthy will be THE polarizing QB of the NFL Draft. Klay Thompson coming off the bench may end up being that move that catapults the Warriors a bit in the 2nd half. Plus, why Doc Rivers might not make it out of March if the Bucks keep spiraling like this.

Greetings, Welcome inside our two, The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, live from the tire IRAQ dot com studios. We'll have more on the night that is at Caitlin Clark, your all time leading scorer women in college basketball.

We got that coming up in a few minutes.

Forty nine points for Iowa tonight. Hits a three from the logo and oh, by the way, just how much of a cool blank you? You know, I'm not gonna just you know, settle for a job or an open three or take it to the rack or.

No, no, no, I'm gonna hit this from.

The bleeping log I'm gonna lean into it with everything I got and I'm gonna hit that three, and that's gonna give me the record.

I thought she was inspired by that tunnel shot that Steph Curry hit yesterday.

Oh, potentially that potential was making the rounds.

It was like, hey, you know, let's do this and do it spectacularly, and she did.

Don't you kind of want to see her in that Steph Curry Sabrina I and ask you thing if we that Uh yeah, if you could.

Add a third person in sure you got room right there. I I'd like to see Caitlin Clark may try to take those shots. Yeah.

If only it was after the season, then you can do whatever the hell you want. So yeah, but let's get a skills competition going after the season. We'll do that, and we'll do an extended version of Holy Moldy that includes that.

Now you could do that.

You could do that at an All Star break right now. You can get that going on.

You could do that. Yeah, I don't. I don't.

Well, actually, in today's day and age with college athletes, I don't know that it might not matter as much. He probably has game though, So I mean that you know, you got that little bit of it what you twenty six and three, you're fun. You don't need it for what you gave away the game. You gave away the game against nebrask gonna set the record tonight. You can skip her for a day and she could be it aft that weekend. No, but see that's that's the thing I kind of dig about her. She's she's got she's a chap ass. Yeah, oh yeah, the little things bugger, you know, if their team's not playing well, you know, if they win by twenty, like if she didn't feel the defense is playing up to snuff or or offensively, they're not hitting on all cylinders, she's pissy. And I love it, Like there's there's that anger of you know, the excellence of execution. Let's do this and do this well.

So I dig it.

You know, you have a big win tonight, seventeen point win over Michigan, And I'm sure there were still some things she was unhappy about.

Even when they're forty nine points.

And I think watching her the last couple of years, as we've had we've chronicled the rise of her fame and and how how much notoriety there is is like that's the one thing that that cuts through all of it, you know, people with their illegal streams. Tonight of Peacock, I saw that being uh, you know, distributed across social platforms, like they're not gonna step in and arrest these fools, like, Okay, here's my live stream, I'm putting my camera at my TV.

I mean, does anybody still use periscope? Like, does anything not? They killed the periscope? Does anybody still use periscope? No one? Because really, why wouldn't you.

No one's watching it, no one, No, no one's trying to figure out what you're doing wrong on periscope.

I think they actually shut it down.

That what you said when you stole the mailbox, there's nobody's gonna.

Kill somebody's watching there was Like, think about it.

In today, day and age, we would have gotten Smith's stumbling out of a car on a ring camera my neck.

Here's a ring doorbell of taking a mailbox.

He's strained. You're saying he strained his neck and his shoulder. I believe man was covered in Salon pause.

Although I look, I gotta be honest with you, today is probably the day I felt most like myself In the last three weeks.

Who say, like the last six weeks, then, oh man, well the last three weeks.

Now, let's say, no, the last three weeks have been really bad, like but it's the least pain tonight. It's the most comfort that I felt my last year. I feel like, Okay, finally I'm at the point where this is that, this is now, now, now, now.

Tonight's a big night.

I want to make sure I can sleep okay, But I'll tell you the pain for the last three weeks has been awful.

And you see, you know, in studio on there trying to raise my arm and sit back and do all this stuff. Oh what stuff. I am that try to do the show and try to do the show and entertain millions of heat does a lot of gesturing. Did you kill that officer?

I couldn't make out his face, but I know he had a heating pad on it.

He was wearing a bright orange sweatshirt.

Guy had a heating pad and a lot of kinisio tape all over his shoulder and down his arm.

But those are the two things I remember.

I'm sorry, I mean, I know, so it's been a trend, and you know runway models wearing only the tape, but this guy had it everywhere.

Anything else, oh yeah, yeah. And a Mets hat yeah sorry, And a Mets hat. Yeah, I forgot. I think he's wearing a Mets hat too.

Okay, that's so two great stories today involving quarterbacks going into this season, and I you know, I love both of them for different reasons. The first one is, hey, you know, for a while today Mac Jones was trending on Twitter.

I thought, oh, was this today that he gets cut in the Jets?

Pick him U because I've already come to grips of the fact that he's gonna be Aaron Rodgers backup, right, of course it'd be Mac Jones. No, there was a lot of run that he could be the Steelers target, and so many people on social media were all excited. At hell, pretty soon Mac Jones is gonna be available for me to go get. Like, I don't know, the Pager's gonna hold on to a trade him, They're gonna.

Have to move on.

And and I saw this story, I started laughing. And I don't know why, maybe because my brain works this way, but I started thinking about, like, like Charles Barkley, how he would say it. I don't know why Charles park came through, but I just could picture Charles Barkley, you know, seeing this story going people talking about Mac Jones like they think, suddenly he's good again.

Like that's what I'm that's what I see with Mac Jones.

I'm like, people are talking about mac Jones like suddenly he's good again, not the fact that all he's done is regress since his rookie year and the fact that it looks like most of his teammates hated him.

What was the story today?

Bailey's Appy said the quarterback room was so bad the last couple of years. I had to go watch tape in the wide receiver room. I mean, come on, man, I mean Mac Jones. He's alienating people and he's a bad quarterback. But suddenly now today, cause he's gonna be available. Hey, look at this throw. If we get this Mac Jones from three years ago, no no, no, no stops.

If we get this guy that made this throw, we're getting a great quarterback. Steelers could have been great.

No, anybody who gets Mac Jones, you're getting a jag. I've told you he was a jag since he walked into the NFL. He's just a guy. Don't get excited. There's a reason why the Patriots are gonna move on fro him. There's a reason why he hasn't been any good. Yes, did the Patriots help him out the most as they could. No, but he would have flashed a little bit more and wouldn't been on a three year regression.

Mac Jones is just a guy.

But because he's available suddenly, oh now, no, yo, let's go get mac John mac Joe.

Oh Man. Look at this dime he just threw to Juju Smith shust here, look at it. This pass he threw over here to unter Henry. Look at this back.

You can pick out a couple of nice passes from three years ago and say, boy, it'd be great to get this guy.

That's not how it works. That's not how it works.

Going back on social media and reliving the good old days doesn't mean suddenly you're gonna have a great quarterback.

Mac Jones is just a guy.

If you get him, congratulations, you got a backup quarterback that if he has to go in and play a little bit for a short amount of time, you're not completely screwed. That's the ceiling for mac Jones. If he has to play for a very short amount of time, no notice whatsoever, you're not completely screwed. That's the best thing I can tell you about.

Matt now to be fair, I mean we talk about quarterbacks oftentimes, you know, being at least some percentage of that credit pie instead of the blame pie this time, the credit pie being where you showed up to work. Right, if you go to Chicago, you got a lot of stuff historically that has worked against you in terms of quarterback considerations and making it advantageous for you to go in and and succeed.

At a high level.

Right, there are a number of other places we can say that Jets and some others along along the NFL highways and byeways.

Patriots are one of those.

Right in the post Brady era, we can we can stipulate to the fact that it's been an abject failure, including you know, a former defensive guy with a pencil behind his ear as oc and this year clearly a lot of discord and and problems going on. So I trying to parse out, you know, all the noise, how much of it is Mac Jones himself versus the circumstances he's in trying to fit into. Because we talked about it yesterday, right, the Brady quotes that are coming out in this new documentary thing that's coming on the Apple Apple plus, right, that's all of this fun stuff about Yeah, I couldn't do that, I couldn't stay anymore.

Whatever.

Well, Brady's a different guy, right, and you know they talk about I heard Julian Edelman talking about it with Colin on the network as I was driving this morning, you know, saying, hey, you know when Cam Newton came in, Bill realized he had to talk to Cam Newton in a different way, and maybe he didn't figure out how to talk to Matt Jones and communicate the same way. Right, the tough love and we've talked about that, the changing of not only you know, coaches and players and how they interact, but as a society. I mean, look, go back to when we were playing ball, right, hey, keep running to somebody throws up all right, that's that's the metric we're going to good. Hey, you didn't get into the hole fast enough here, But I hit you in the back of the head with my whistle is with as much force as I can swing my arm to get you to be better about this, or here, let's collide your head.

You can't do any of that crap anymore.

Likewise, you can't speak to guys necessarily the same way and have it have the same effects. So for mac Jones, I'm not ready to write them off, but it certainly will take a team with a lot of patients and just a an entrench starter where mac Jones becomes a bonus if he acclimates. But the story's behind the scene. Yeah, that was with Bailey Zappy. That was one that you're like, really, you couldn't even sit in the same damn room with it together.

The hell's going on here, you know? And do we have film with this?

Because if we get NFL films of all this other crap, how about you give.

Me some of that.

He's just again, if he has to play for a short amount of time, you're not completely screwed. That's the best I'm gonna give you. That's the best I'll give you about mac Jones because that's reality.

So we're all on the same intercom. But Bailey's gonna go sit over there.

You can wave through him through the glass, but he is not gonna sit occupy the same error. Uh.

Now, the other quarterback that has been bandied about today and he's gonna already you can tell, is gonna be the most polarizing quarterback of the NFL draft, and that's JJ McCarthy, right, every day is a debate on him. And you know today it made news. You know that scout a couple of days ago who said, well, JJ McCarthy's Joe Burrow if he was in an offense where they threw the football a lot. And I'm like, what, wait, what what are you talking about? And clearly he's gonna be the guy you can already tell. McCarthy's gonna be the guy to give you the most, to give us the most debate going forward. Eventually, Caleb Williams will be locked into being the number one overall pick, Drake May will go number two. Pennix is shooting up the draft boards. That's gonna be interesting. But the do we draft JJ McCarthy Is he great? That's gonna be another big conversation as we get closer and close to the draft. Now, look from somebody, Look from somebody who has watched every single game JJ McCarthy has played at Michigan.

Let me just tell you this.

The kid has a lot of skills right and on display, you could see them. Boy, he can make any throw, he can run the football, He's got every tool, right, He's got every single tool, And I get why scouts are drooling over him because he can make any throw, he can run.

He is that good.

But I go back to the line from Moneyball, where they say, if the guy's a good hitter, why doesn't he hit good? If the guy's a great quarterback, why doesn't he play great? Like Michigan won the National Championship, they won the rose ball in the National Championship by limiting JJ McCarthy's impact on the game, by taking away responsibility. They couldn't trust him to throw the football in either game, so they ran it a lot and only threw when they had to. What does that tell you? I mean, I've seen JJ McCarthy. He doesn't have touch. He airmails the football way too much. He's too inaccurate, he's too emotional when it comes time for a clutch drive, though, boy guy straightens up and gets it done.

But you know what is that a franchise quarterback? Is that a guy that locked down?

I'll take him all the way at the top, I mean, bottom line, Michigan won the title and in the two biggest games of the year, they limited his responsibility because they couldn't trust him to be the quarterback to lead them to victory. And there's lots of times during the season they limited what he had to do because he was not their best path. That's why they had to give the ball to Blake corm thirty five times a game and Donvan Edwards because you couldn't trust JJ McCarthy to make all those plays. The guy is that talented. But in the end, again, if the guy's a great quarterback, why doesn't he play great? And that's where I come down to with McCarthy old rule.

Of thumb, Where where can you find a guy that decides we've got enough playmakers and we need a guy who's got a good head on his shoulders, who's played in a lot of big games and is delivered. Doesn't have to be you know, off the charts in the physicality and those you know measurables that we talk about. You know, when we look and we talk about generational quarterbacks like Caleb Williams, JJ McCarthy fits, that doesn't he in terms of guy who look at Brock Purty played a lot at Iowa State. Mister irrelevant, I get it. That just means for nearly seven rounds. Everybody screwed up. Is really all that comes down to is that he was better than a lot of players that you selected ahead of him, and you made mistakes with JJ McCarthy some of the same, right, some numbers, some big performances. Heady plays in big moments, and he proved he could win. Now, how much of that is Harbaugh system run game defense? I mean, again, you ascribe whatever value you need to. But what we have seen time and again are teams that rely on quarterbacks with very limited experience, and then when it goes bad, they cut him loose, right, I mean we have seen that, don But I mean go back to the twenty seventeen draft, right, you know, the Bears take Mitchell Trubisky, he didn't have a law track history, and go we can pull up examples all over the board of guys. You know, we're wondering what Anthony Richardson was gonna become. But a lot of the question going in is like, yeah, a lot of big skills, not a lot of experience, right, A lot of the quarterbacks these last couple of years, and that's the case with McCarthy. I think you at least know what your base is with him, perhaps a little more firmly than you do with some of the others, which is why you see him in mock drafts, either back end top ten or very early thereafter. I've seen him going to Minnesota in a lot of monks.

Good luck this week, good luck you want JJ McCarthy, good luck man. I'll let you take him and move on from there.

You want, go ahead, you take him.

I'll let that be something you figure out, and I'll take somebody else.

I read again.

I've seen enough of them to know, Yeah, man, I don't know about that now. And if you're taking the guy, you want to be sure that this is the guy. Man, we're taking him. He's gonna be.

Our franchise guy.

I got it back away. I don't want to sit here and say, oh, afraid about No, I'm afraid. I'm afraid to take him and go I'm not getting the guy that everybody told me I was getting.

That's tough.

So there's two quarterbacks, two very different stories. Twitter At how about a Fresca Mike get swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon coming up next. Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. There you go, Kaitlin Clark, your all time leading scorer in NCAA history forty nine tonight and I was win over Michigan scored the first eight points of the game to give her the mark. And I liked your idea that you and I were texting about, Mike, you know, because I was. I was like, listen, you could have stopped the game. You could have stopped the game to honor her because it was a really big deal for all of sports.

Instead, we're gonna keep going.

You said, Hey, she's gonna set a new record every time she makes a shot. Stop the game every time she makes a shot. Then that would have been pretty cool. King would be like nine hours long. Stop she had another shot. Kaylee wanted to speak to the crowd again, what it's like here for your fifteenth and sixteenth points of the game.

I would stop. Stop she had a three.

Now she's got nineteen stop new record, Caitlin, can you please address the crowd. I'd kind of like to see that every time she hits a shot, it's a new record for all time score.

But I tell you that drive right there that put us up four in this game, boy, that was that was tough. I mean, she really defended me well along the baseline. But you know, fortunately I was able to get a little bit of a roll off the lip of the rim. And you know that we gotta go back and play defense.

I gotta go. I mean, you just mic her up. I'm actually back and forth.

You know, as we paid some bills with a friend of mine who was in attendance for this game, he showed me the advantage point of his seats, you know, nosebleedy kind of stuff. But buddy, who's contributed to the program for years, he goes, you can't believe what that's like. That's like all the other events you go to on steroids with every shot she takes and he goes. And it's been like that for a couple of years, but certainly tonight with all of the attention, all that anxiousness of how quickly will it go down? How's it gonna go down. I've seen in my timeline folks getting retweeted from like six hours ago. What if she does one from the logo, Well, from the logo, you know, like a little Penny used to say, and boom there got you got exactly what you wanted. And I said, hey, did you at least get a paper ticket out of He goes, oh, I probably should have done that. Huh.

I'm like, yeah, you probably should have asked that.

Sure, running back down court, Blake you Dame time, it's Caitlyn time.

This is Kate. Dame time missed a uh what would have been a tying three?

As Doc rivers, hang on, don't hang on, hang on, that's coming up, that's coming up, that's coming up. Don't don't do that's coming up. Don't don't bleed right into that. That's coming up. You got him up, Mike, that's coming up.

Mike, I didn't hear you.

What did you say? Well, he said, Dame time, and I got it excited. It's coming up. We got we got the wig. Don't worry, we have all the duck. What do coming up? All the don't up coming up?

Uh, because we got to ask a really big question that could get awful, embarrassing for Giannis and the Bucks. But uh well, he got another loss to night, he got another l Ghana's got another l uh in a game that just went final, a makeup game from the seventeenth of January, the Warriors beat the Jazz one forty one thirty seven. Uh so, a nice enter the All Star break on an upswing for the Warriors, and clearly they're looking for answers, trying to figure out what to do.

They couldn't make it traded the deadline. I thought for sure they.

Would make a move, Wiggins would go somewhere, they would make some kind of deal, because look, they're not going anywhere right now. You are seeing the dynasty just slowly crumble to the to the end, which is kind of how it goes with dynasties. You stick with the same guys. You want guys like Steph and Clay and Draymond to play their whole careers with you. Okay, well, this is kind of how it goes. But sometimes desperation is the best thing you can embrace as a coach, where you know what sometimes it is, but sometimes it's also the best strategy you can embrace when you feel like Okay, we've tried all of this. We need something else, and let's just try it because no one else is riding to the rescue. Tonight, Clay Thompson came off the bench for the Warriors. A lot of video on social media Steph Curry trying to get high five from the game last night, and he just walked right by him, like, oh, this is the end of Klay Thompson.

In Golden State. This is the end. This is the end.

Clay Thompson comes off the bench tonight for Golden State. Now again they beat the Jazz one thirty seven.

The Jazz are okay. The Jazz aren't great, but you know they're an okay team and you're the Warriors. You're looking for any kind of answer.

In twenty eight minutes off the bench tonight, Klay Thompson put up thirty five points thirteen out of twenty two from the floor seven to thirteen to three point range. Also pulled down six rebounds a couple of assists. But listen to that, seven threes and thirty five points in twenty eight minutes off the bench. And Clay is a guy that of any of these players on the warri if you said, hey, can you come off the bench. Clay's the guy that I first would say no way, because he's he's got too much of an ego and he's too proud. I'm one of the why aren't why one of the fifty best players of all time? I'm not coming off the I'm not a guy that comes off the bench, but desperation. Some times you hit on something. And here's Clay off the bench, who clearly has lost a step. Right, you watch him play, he's not the same guy. He can't get open like he used to. He's a volume shooter. Now he'll they'll have games with twenty five points on nineteen shots.

Right, That's what Clay Thompson is.

But now you talk about him coming off the bench and playing against the second team and heating up and playing a little bit of crunch time minutes down the stretch, and maybe suddenly that's a thing for the Warriors to hold there, to hold on to going into the.

Second half of the season.

If suddenly you have a guy coming off the bench like Clay who can light it up, you know, when he's playing against a second unit, all of a sudden, maybe you got something because you still let all five starters and double figures for Golden State, and Zemski has thirteen tonight. He had a big night last night too, even got the rake of the face by Mason Plumbley. But you know, look, if he's gonna start and Curry's gonna start and these are the results, Yeah, sorry, Clay, maybe you want to go somewhere next year, you want to leave, you want to go start. The Lakers will promise you whatever, but put.

That on us. I'm gonna put that out there. I'm gonna putting that.

There's reports of there's Trey Young, there's this guy you're doing in Clay.

Saw him wearing a Next owl, was wearing a mixed owl.

No, I'm putting this out there right now. For he was wearing a Next towel. This is this is this is especially here. This is a special just for you, Rob says next.

Austin Reeves and ruiy Hachimura for Clay Thompson the off season.

I'm putting it out there. There it is and go you would put it out there. It's in the atmosphere for you. Good. The worst. That's the worst thing I've heard.

You can you know you can see Lebron saying, let's go get Clay. We won't be too far from getting Steph.

All. Oh, you could see that Canton better than Jason.

That would be a dude, You kidding that you would trade Anthony Davis for Jalen Brunson. Come on, man, let's be serious, funny serious now. Legitimately though, I mean, you do have Chris Paul who's coming back here at some point.

Ye, so you get it.

I mean you're a five hundred team, Yeah, but it's Chris pa stays on the bench.

Yeah, Chris Paul is tough, though, dude, because you know, Chris Paul is always a guy who plays great right up until you need him the most, can you Yeah, I mean that's Chris Paul's career. He's great right up until you need Chris Paul to do something. Then he gets hurt or misses shots, and and suddenly it's boy, Chris Paul really wasn't that great.

I don't know.

Can I trust he's gonna stay healthy if even if he's playing he was playing less minutes off the bench.

Now and he's say, at this point, all you want him back is another guy to give you a little bit of juice off your second unit. And if he's the guy that's passing the ball and getting it to Clay, because Clay's cooked defensively and offensively. How many games have we seen where he's shot them out of games or made bad decisions like the other night right taking the intentional foul. Man, that's just dopiness on a whole other level. But thirteen to twenty two tonight, seven to thirteen from three point range. You know, every once in a while he has one of those big games. I'm not gonna do, you know, do the quote because you get mad at me, But you know you can have one of these nights once in a while. You just can't count on them, and you're gonna need the others stepping up, particularly Wiggins and Cominga are gonna have to be consistent the rest of these guys. Man, you get what you get alongside Steph C. I mean, you got twenty three points out of Draymond Green. How many nights are you getting twenty three points out of Draymond Green?

Right now?

If I'm the Jazz, any member of that coaching staff, I'm beating these guys. How the hell does this happen to? Where this guy's nine of fourteen for twenty three points. What are we doing out here?

Uh? Look, is every game gonna go like this? No, or suddenly the Warriors solving all their problems.

No, of course not. But in a Western conference where.

It's about getting in, and once you get in the playoffs, you don't know what the draw is going to be. Maybe you're playing a team that's really good but as young, and you can knock them out of the playoffs because you have a little bit more in the tank. You understand what it means to win a little bit more than the other team. Remember we saw that with Sacramento last year. Boy, there's a team like the Beam.

And all that.

Boy, they're right to lose. They're right to lose to a team that that's older than they are.

Moving on. Mean, look, this is how it happens.

So if you're the Warriors, and I'm not saying this is suddenly they're gonna start winning, you know, eleven out of fifteen, like they're the Knicks or the Clippers or the Cavaliers.

But this could suddenly be a team that hey comfortably.

Gets in at the bottom of the of the of the seedings for the playoffs for the Western Conference, and suddenly that's a lot of problems. Man in the first round with nothing to lose, sitting there as an eight seater or the seventh seed. They're in the playing round and they win the Suddenly the Warriors could be a dangerous team. And this is something that they could figure it out with and Clay off the bench. I mean, if this is the kind of night that you can get and maybe Draymond Green can score more if there's more shots therefore him because Clay is taking his shots, you know, not at the same time where Draymond is running up and down, pulling down rebounds and trying to get some blocks and assists. So I mean, this may be something that really helps open up the entire offense. With Clay and his volume shooting out of there, maybe that starting five can start putting up some more numbers.

And clearly tonight they all shot great.

I mean, Curry was the only guy that a bad night shoots four out of fourteen, didn't matter, though Wiggins had a good night shooting the ball. Kamengo was five out of six. Maybe this is a thing. Maybe Klay Thompson going to the bench, is that spark that the Warriors needed. I mean, look, the Lakers got dinwitty, they started to figure things out. Anthony Davis talked about it last night. Hey, we know what our identity is right now, we know what we're trying to become. We're gonna be a team that goes up and down the floor and plays great defense and stretches you. We're not there yet, but we're on our way. A couple of teams that may have figured something out, the Lakers figuring out because this is who we are in our locker room, and the Warriors making a desperation move that hey look at this, it's all coming up sevens.

Let me give you one data point from tonight's game that also says a lot about the style. Like I only saw portions.

Out, it looks like it could have been a thing of beauty. Forty two assists on forty nine makes tonight for the Warriors. That's a pretty ridiculous percentage right there.

I mean, really it is.

And I'm not every night is gonna be like this, because again it's the jazz, and the jazz are okay, but it's not like you went in and did it to Detroit. Well, Detroit's terrible. It won seven games of the Wizards. They try hard.

Just let me know, is Caid coming Cunningham gotta play tonight or not?

But Clay coming off the bench? Man.

Sometimes sometimes the answers are right there and you just have to make a really hard decision.

And you know, it's a hard decision for Steve Kurtz. Hey a guy that won.

US four titles and oh to have him come off the bench, that's a tough thing to do. But maybe now coming off the bench, if Klay Thompson his pissf he plays plays better.

Hey, guess what. That's what it's gotta be, right, that's gonna help you wins one.

It's gotta be The Jason Smith Show is my best friend Mike Carmon coming up next. As the NBA gets set to hit the All Star break, we have to talk about something from tonight. It's gonna sound insane, but the more we talk about it, the more it could really happen in the second half of the season. That's next right here, Jason and Mike. This is Fox Sports Radio.

Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific.

Fox Sports Radio.

It is the Jason Smith Show with my bass friend Mike Harmon, live from Thetirack dot Com Studios. One game left until the NBA hits the break T Wolves and the Blazers. T Wolves up big right now. But we broke down the two games earlier tonight. One tremendously large. We talked about a few minutes ago with Klay Thompson scoring thirty five off the bench for the Warriors. They beat Utah one thirty seven. But this final from Memphis, the Grizzlies without John Morant, of course, just want to say that without John Morant, the twenty.

Win Grizzlies, Yeah, he was coaching. He was Maybe that's what he's gonna be doing, just coaching his ass off over there. Maybe he can coach the Bucks.

The Grizzlies beat the Bucks one thirteen, two one ten. Now, why is this a big deal? Remember the Bucks fired Adrian Griffin because well, we're not quite the best version of ourselves that we can be.

We can be better, all right.

Doc Rivers comes in and is now three and seven in his ten games as the Bucks head coach.

Three and seven Okay, now the Bucks.

Bucks have lost to good teams, they've also lost the bad teams.

Like they did tonight. Three Now though.

Eleven seconds, do you foul as Mitcheller Jenkins and not allow them an opportunity?

Had agree terse Lullard. He gets caught up at midcourt.

The ball was ten ow to Lopez two seconds gone, blowing at the.

Hard o god. Let Chris holds on.

There's your call, Memphis Grizzlies radio network on the card, tnt I an eagle with a call.

Uh so, another loss? Three and seven.

The Bucks have lost to Denver, They've lost to Portland. Right, they've lost to Phoenix, who's red hot. They've lost to Memphis, they lost to Miami, they've lost to Minnesota. They've lost to Utah. They are three and seven under Doc Rivers. And I ask this because I mean this is a title or bust year for the Bucks. Right, you went out and you made the boldest move in the offseason. You went out and got Damian Lillard, brought him in saying this is the guy, this is the guy that's gonna get us over the top and working with another title with Damian Lillard, and you fire your head coach and now the guy you brought in you are three and seven. I don't think this Doc Rivers is a forever thing, man. I mean, if they don't get it going in the second half, there'll be another coaching change. Like like, I really the Bucks are gonna they made the move very early to get rid of Adrian Griffin to go to Doc Rivers. Are they gonna let the Bucks just continue to spiral the rest of the year and not make a coaching change as nothing else you can do, can't get any other players, nobody else, didn't make a deal, can't get me else in the buyout market.

I don't think this Doc Rivers thing is forever.

You know, we had Rick Buker on and he said, you know, the Bucks did this because they thought this might work. And you know, that was a very that was a very telling statement by Rick because the way he said that, hey they thought this would work, well, of course you think it would work.

But it's not like he said, Hey, the Bucks did this thinking this is our guy, this is good, this is our guy. They thought this.

Might work and they might wind up getting better and they might get that extra little bit they needed that they weren't getting under Adrian Griffin. As it turns out, they're not even getting that. They're getting way worse. Right, the second best record in the NBA. Now they're falling through the Eastern Conference. So I don't know that Doc Rivers has forever. And in fact, I'll look at it. If they don't get out of March with turning this thing around, it'll be a third head coach.

I mean, because there's no way that the Bucks watch this happen and don't do something.

I don't know how much time Doc Rivers, he's.

Already be coaching the All Star Game and every of the other girl all his controverts this week. Really, he may not make it out of March. Look at you.

You already fire him if he goes back to TV. Does JJ Reddick get to keep whatever he negotiated to take over his chair on television before he gets pushed back out of there? No, it's look three and seven, last ten. Danilo Gallinari's coming to the rescue. Yeah, don't worry, don't worry, don't worry.

Get if you go back in time? Is he twenty one years old? Oh no, no, no, no, we couldn't do that here it is, and we'll get more quotes as the.

Length of the presser goes on, and he's certainly the editing in the back quote. We had some guys here, some guys in Cabo, So that's good. Wow, that's that's a pretty good statement that you got going on there. And in the post game, you know, you've got you know, folks going well, you know, we we did what we needed to and took care of business. Here's our twentieth win of the night. Gigi Jackson, a second round pick out of South Carolina, goes ten to seventeen for the field with six threes for twenty seven points. He came into the game, you know, averaging you know, ten point six, so a nice outlier kind of moment for him. He had four players in double figures out of the starting lineup, and again some good ball movement shooting fifty from three point range, and the Bucks another game of frustration. They go eleven to forty four from beyond the arc and come away with another huge loss three and seven. Doc Rivers running out of answers, blaming you know, vacation minds. I don't know, how do you explain the rest of the doc they explained your game planning, you know, because he was blaming the schedule early on. Well, we just hit a rough patch as I came in here and blah blah blah. Uh no, no, no, now you got a bigger sample size. This is this is not good.

No. Look, and I really I don't know that March might be I don't know.

I might push that up a little bit because you're talking about coming back to play the beginning of March.

Does he get the whole month? Does he get the whole month you're mark hiring? Doc? Is he gonna love this? He's been fired. They come out of the break.

They got Minnesota and Philadelphia right away, both on the road, both on the road in nationally televised games.

Hey, Joel's not coming back for that second game, is he?

He's not gonna be healthy enough, right, I don't have to worry about I won't worry about Joelle going for seventy on us.

Get this, okay?

Then you get two against Charlotte, the road game at Chicago. Then you get the Clippers Golden State eight and two their last ten, the Lakers, and then the Clippers and Kings.

Doc might not make it out of March hot Take. Coming up next, A Real thing on story out of the NFL
