Welcome back to Mike Harmon, who decided, Hey, I gotta go see the Stones one more time because Mick is eighty one, and then I gotta go see it.
So about it was more than I'm fifty and maybe it's my last time. How about that?
Wow? Why'd you get dark so fast with that?
I don't know you were killing off Mick Jagger. I figured the world would more in him, more than.
Me Mick Jim. Well, sure, but Mick Jagger's eighty one. Yeah, I mean, I didn't know you're gonna just get that much with it.
So it's a hell of a run.
All right, Okay, how was the show?
It was fantastic. Okay, all right, start to finish.
I got a little little church like thing with the sweet Sounds of Heaven.
We got.
A couple of songs off the new album that everybody looking around going, I don't know this.
Oh, that's great. They did songs off his is off our new album. That's why I go to the bath time to go to the bathroom.
But it's one of those like if you look at the grid, there's like ten songs that they play every time out uh huh, and then you mix it in. And they had a couple from the new album Angers, the number one track that was the single, so everybody got excited about that one. But then there's one called bite my Head Off, which you know he cursed a few times, pretty good. And on the album version it's actually Paul McCartney playing.
Bass with the band, which is cool.
Darryl Jones did a fantastic job in instead, but yeah, good show.
Uh long drive so uh you know, many a weary mile on the open highways.
Sure, yeah, no, I'm I'm I'm okay. You can no, no, no, god you could you know your you? I think you know the better way to say it, so you can go ahead.
It was hal of Graham Jogger last night.
No, actually it was.
They did a hell of a job. Then it came along.
You think mister Mick Jaggers would busy being a rock and roll star when he is forty years old, You are sadly stuff.
Like that weekend at Bernie for a couple of years.
Now.
By the way, that's actually the best line Jimmy Fallon's ever had in his entire career.
Quoted from Almost Famous Now.
And here's the thing, because I hope it was worth it, because you missed the first three pointer in the career of Brodny James because you wanted to go see this stuff.
I'll tell you what. I didn't go notification.
I got the notification as I sat in my seat and I go, oh, it's happening, It's all happening.
You missed it. I mean Rich Ornberger and I are best friends now, because, as he said last night, Jason, we're gonna share this experience for the remainder of our lives. And I said, you're right, rich And then he hit another one like to cement the bond, and I'm like, I should be here with Harmon, but I'm not. And Harmon decided, no, no, I need to go see the Rolling Stones, who have never even as much as sent me a card. And I'm missing Bronnie James's first three pointer of his NBAK. The guy was zero for fifteen, and you decided, oh no, I don't need to work. I don't need to see this bit of NBA history, something we have never seen before ever. You decided, no, no, I'm gonna go to the Stones instead.
You miss allow me to retorts checked the odds, and the odds of him actually hitting a three were so astronomical.
Thought I was safe.
No, no, come on now, It wasn't like Alex Saar hitting a shot astronomical. He was going to hit one eventually. I think he wowed it to a mirror.
I liked that they got it right back to him for the uh you know, the heat check is he is.
He gonna be on fire. Now give it to him again, give it to him. Yeah, I mean you knew at some point. I mean you you needed to stay until he hit his three and then go do some stuff. It's the summer, I get there, be Mike.
We've had big moments on the show, but none bigger than last night.
I mean that we broke it. We broke into a commercial to air that, and really, oh, we're not even allowed to air it. Frostburg said, no, play it, just play it, and we played it. It was amazing.
Oh actually Jason said to play it.
But yeah, no, but Frostburg is the guy that press and tysher pressing the button.
So there was that. Ye, you strong armed them into doing that.
No, well, I said, listen, this is that kind of big moment I made. We were playing a commercial. I said, no break in, play that jumper, and we played it.
You also missed ty Shirt eat Jason's flatbread.
Yeah, there was a big There was a big food thing that happened the end of last night that I'm not real happy about.
I'm a little but hused. God.
Yeah, food last night now here I'll out listen, we gotta get into hulkogin.
But let me and then I leave and then you order food.
So, just like Brownie James hitting a shot, food miracles happened.
We had food. Go right, okay, sure, okay, yeah, uh so we get food. Tyser says, hey, I ordered that flatbread because we talked about getting the flatbread from cheesecake factory. And I said, y oh great, yeah, he goes yes, and ty Shirt's word, so we could try it? Yes, outstanding. So the food comes. I eat my food. I don't go in and glut. Nice. I wait, I digest an hour or so, goes by. I want to say, hey, I want to try a piece of that flatbread. And Tyser looks at me and goes, oh jas And I look over and it is gone. Ate the entire thing. Ordered it for us on my credit card, and then ate the entire So he had two meals in the time it took me to have one meal. A meal that he said, hey, this is for us, okay, great, Hey, ty shit, I don't know. I don't know the girl your dating has been dating for a little while. I think that's a warning sign. That's a warning sign, right.
I think the warning sign is Jason, you are a foodie.
Right?
Is that what you like to say about yourself.
That's one. Yes, I am okay.
So how does a food in my Carmen? Come in here for an hour and a half and never once asked like, hey man, so is the pizza here? You didn't even bring it up.
Because I had my food I digested. I wanted to wait and then get the and then get the great experience. Let my palate cleanse and then get the experience when you walked in here, no nut, But that was at night. This was three hours later, one story here, three hours later, three hours later, we were you kidding?
You don't digest?
I didn't. Yeah, I'm like a lizard. I'm like a snake. It just goes right through my body.
And then, just like a burger eating guy from Popeye.
I would gladly pay you two dollars for a hamburger today. So again, so you missed some stuff last night because you had to go see the start of stuff. Yeah no, it's good and you missed Bronni, So congratulations.
I got to hang out with my daughters and celebrate some good times on the road with some wonderful singalongs.
And yeah, no, that's great. You miss Brownie's three. You miss Bronie's That's all. That's all you need to know.
You know what, Eventually he'll hit another one, may not be tonight, he's oh for one from three point range.
When your kids are slamming the door in your face after an argument, just remember I missed Bronnie James's three for this. I miss Bronnie James hitting it three for this. This is what I missed it.
Yeah, if if I get to that point that I really hit a sad low in my exist.
But look, we have some big stuff to get to tonight. Obviously, we have the big Russell Westbrook Trade. We have the big w NBA drama at the All Star break and oh, by the way, how great is that that We're going to talk about the w NBA at the break like a state of the Union. However, we can't not play Hulk Hogan at the Republican National Convention tonight. We cannot. He's on stage endorsing former President Trump and and it was all day I'm going, what is he going to say? How is he gonna say? It is gonna be somewhat reserved? Is he gonna be Hulk Hogan? Like? What is Hulk Hogan going to be here. So this is Hulk from about an hour or so ago on stage at the RNC when they took a shot and my hero and they tried to kill the next president of the United States. No baend it goes the shirt brother, and there goes the shirt roll again, There goes the shirt right right again, here comes Paul Orndorf coming out of coming out.
Of the side.
Now he's gonna hit him with the poses.
There's me and Gena Jesse Venture ready to do the analysis like it was exactly what you thought it was gonna be, Like the the only thing that would have made it amazing. I just think about this, just ww perspective. Right, he goes up, he endorses Trump, right, but then in the middle he turns heel and like he rips off his shirt and instead it says Biden Harris twenty do or Harris TBA twenty whatever, And he pulls that off and he turns heel right in the middle, and then somebody else comes out and then there's a big fight and everybody, I mean, how what if what if that was what it was? What if Colgan said, well, you know, you think I'm gonna come out here and do my thing in Hulka mania and all this and that. No, no, no, what if we really what if we really went deep on this? What if we really scripted this thing out? And in the middle of my speech, I turn heel and suddenly it's it's no holds Barden, it's videos. It's hologram Rowdy Roddy Piper who is coming in here? And hologram macho Man's had too many holograms. Hologram macho Man Savage coming in now, that would have been an event.
It does have us recognize that, you know, Hogan's one of the few standing from that era when you keep referencing holograms.
But I know, it's like he's gonna be the last one standing. It's like it's gonna be helking. And okay, it's all.
Those orders of training, saying his prayers and eating his vitamins working well. Although he did struggle with getting the shirt off today.
Yeah he did.
No.
And when I say he was taking his shirt off like oh yeah, no, no, no, he really was rinking his shirt off like he really was doing it, like he but he did. Look because Hulk Cogan's in his seventies now, so he took off his jacket, then he took off then he ripped off his shirt, and then he had his that, then he had his other shirt off, and I'm like, this is this is just unbelievable.
And then guys like he just slammed the Andre the.
Giant, Yeah, the Giant brother.
But that's what he said going in tonight, It's gonna this is going to be more exciting for me than when I body slammed Andre the Giant and was WrestleMania.
Two, I think, or go back to Theresa three, go back to three until yeah, it's what's that? Yeah that was two thousand. That was WrestleMania three.
What the whole world is coming to see? Like that was the tag that I remember.
Such a big rampway that they had to put the guys on car instead of having them run up the aisle and whatever.
It's just kind of crazy.
But yeah, so so for this one, I like the idea, you know, really do a full on work, just figure who's on the other side that you gotta gotta get on board. But you know, electrified the crowd certainly got enough social media impressions to give it some juice. But yeah, the tearing of the shirt was a little sad.
But I gotta ask you a question, because it was it wasn't It wasn't quite the beat obviously. Look, he's not in his thirties or forties when he could just like move his muscles and it would rip. Do you think the T shirt was pre ripped? Oh?
Yeah?
Do you think it was always it was ripped already at some point because it comes off pretty, you know, like right down the middle like when you rip a T shirt. Like if I ripped a T shirt, I ripped it off like it would be to the side, it would be the material would stretch. This was like a clean pole right down the middle. So I don't I look at it and I go, I think that thing was pre ripped.
Oh, I agree with you.
It's not.
It's not quite velcrow pulled together, but you know, something like that. But the other thing is he's coming out with a suit coat. It's like people sitting on sports TV sitting with suitcoats and ties, don't do it doesn't make any sense.
Yeah, when he's wearing the suit coat, you know what's coming off?
You know, it's okay? You really the pretense man?
Yeah, I mean really. I really thought he would come out and if like, Okay, he's gonna do this, But like if he wore a jacket that was sleeveless, Like if he had he had the big, expensive jacket but it was sleeveless.
Did you get one of those yet?
No? I wish?
Oh d you do? You kidding?
I don't know when I wear that all the time. I'm not a big guy that dresses up, so I don't know if I would do that, but man, I would like to a wedding or something. Oh yes, sure, like if that was acceptable, Yeah, one hundred percent.
Get a cup.
Well what's that a matter whether it's acceptable, it's whether you feel comfortable.
Yeah, everybody else with you.
But I want to take pictures with people.
It's other people, I'm not saying, but you you'll be the guy remembered forever.
Yeah, but I'm wearing it to somebody else's wet. Hey. Every bride is the star of her wedb Yeah.
Yeah, they can photoshop your ass out of every photo they want if they're uncomfortable with it.
Eye out. You mean the guy that did the ceremony for us, Yeah, get him out.
He grace that guy. He he wore the sleeveless top that had fringe attached and a bunch of sparkles.
Get him out here.
I mean, I really, I don't know how you taught this. I really wanted to see. I mean, there's got I said, there's gotta be something else with this show. There's gotta be something. But it's I mean, it's because it's Hulk and it's Hey, what about He'll Billy Jim. Could he have gotten in somewhere somebody else? I mean, I mean, I gotta know his holograms, hologram Iron Chic, I mean, too many holograms. But like all these guys could have gotten involved somewhere, Like I.
Will say this.
The Iron Chik's Twitter account was still active with men always uh ever present Black the Hogan.
I'll tell you. I'll tell you if Iron Cheek was still with I mean, how how all of a sudden he shows up and you know he starts that eat on, he grabs a microphone for huging heat on, No better vun, eat On, No better vun. He's got the big curl toad boots on that he's walking around.
And say, now we're gonna do this at summer slam brother.
Then and then the speech ends right and instead of going to Fox News or seeing whoever's running it and said, it just cuts to me Gene Oakland, who says, there it is August the twenty second in Detroit at the Silver Home. Don't miss it. Paper view as well, coming back right next with a big matchup, Tato Santana putting the Inner Continent belt on the line against Iron Mike Sharp, it's the WWF. Wait a minute, while, why are we cut? Wait? Why don't we go back to our guys for analysis. I do't understand. Brett Bher is ready to talk. I don't understand. No, no, heng on. It mean Jane's got to do a promo for the about coming on and I'll get twenty seconds.
But they go back to the coverage of the convention, and now they're hyping up the matchup and starting to do the tail of the tape and how America's looking at that matchup and deciding a winner state by state as well.
You don't go right back. You come back and go to piper pit first, then you go back right You gotta go there, Okay, here to break.
Dad or the body shop or the flower shop.
For flower.
Hey, Adrian Adona's let's go.
I'm gonna hit you both with a leg drop.

This goes out to that flatbread yesterday, Mike.
That's what Tysher told me yesterday when I asked, Hey, how's the flatbread? Can I have a piece?
No?
No, no, no, no, no, no, what flatbread? Eating all of it? Eating it all? Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike car.
My defense, he was wolfing those mac and cheese balls like he didn't care about anything else.
Dude, I ate. There's four mac and cheese balls in an order. I ate two of them and I put the other two away, specifically so i'd have enough room to eat the flatbread. Yeah, specifically, so I do that. Nope, Tycher says, Nope, I'm glombing it down like I'm Joey Chestnut on. Well, can't be fourth of July on Labor Day weekend. That's what I'm gonna do.
I do like that, my vocabulary of gluttonizing and glomming has got into the vernacular. Here, you and I leaving no stone unturned, honestly, Dictionary, I will, I will, uh, you know, pull the curtain back on this.
My daughter Zoe really wants to see seven, right, She really wants to see seven. And I was like, ah, I you know, I don't know if you're ready to she really wants to see it. I'm like, I don't know, I don't know if you can give me the seven deadly sins. I'll let you see it because I knew she didn't know them, and she gave me six of them, and the only one she didn't get was gluttony. So I dodged that bullet for a little bit long. But she did not get. Goes, oh gluttony? What what is? What is gluttony? So it's a mustard they put on you see gluttony, you know? But she did. But I was like, oh, she's.
Got were you confusing it with chutney?
I said, Wow, she's got pride, she's got sloth, she's got left Okay, oh wow, I might have to allow her to what noe? Nope, couldn't get gluttony, Jason, Here, go ahead.
It's what Tyshirt does when he eats flat bread.
And there's oh when I see it and a dictionary dot com The picture is actually tight Shirt eating flatbread.
Do they have the stash or not?
Yeah? Yeah, habitual greed or excess in eating. And there it is tight Shirt just wolfing down, getting getting all bits of flatbread caught in his wispy mustache like he's fifteen years old, saying, hey, I could grow a mustache. And all the girls are gonna really like me, Mike.
Just remember who sides you're on. He bought food when you weren't here. Remember that we gotta drive.
It wispy in, which was, Yeah, I'm gonna drive an old muscle car and people are gonna think I'm really cool. That's me. That's my way to get the girls in high school. Yeah, that's me. Let me alex Tyscher.
So wow, he went. He went hard at you there. That's fine.
That's funny that you're one that she doesn't know. Jason is glutting out of all them. That's funny.
She just knows. It's good.
It's that's so much gluttny going on there, Jason.
No, not enough apparently, because you didn't know what it was. So we gotta have more. Get I have to get more food when I go to McDonald's all the time.
How are those extra two cheese cheese balls?
Once?
You didn't have any flatbread?
No, I didn't because I didn't have time to heat it up. Because I didn't it was ten thirty. I'm like, I'm just gonna take him home. And I was mad, and I was mad, and here's the other part. Here's the other part, right, Yeah, we ordered the food last night. Who do you think did Tysher gave it? Gave a piece of flatbread to Martin. White's got a piece of flat bread. I didn't get a piece. Oh here take it? No, No should I ask Jason? Hey, you want that piece? I said we'd get it because you and I were gonna split it. No, here you go, Martin, here's a piece of flatbread for you. Go ahead, take it.
Well, catching strays freaking pizza now, okay.
Frostburg would have had some two except there was cheese on it. He couldn't eat it. You know, you know, he would have found a way scrape all of that off. And I'll find a way to eat that and make sure nothing happens to me.
It's gonna check that back.
Yeah, that's what happened. That's what happened on the night you were gone.
I was just eating pieces for Mike.
Okay, sure sure?
Now hey, speaking of harmon, Now, there could be a thing here because you might actually be the Bronnie James jinks because right now Lakers are down to Cleveland Summer League sixty nine fifty nine. Bronnie James has not hit a three tonight, so every night you have worked. He has not hit a three. He was oh for seventeen from the floor. He is Alex Sar. He is oh for seventeen from the floor from three point range. Nights you don't work. He had two threes. So I think you're the jinks.
Let me put it this way. Uh, if they want to offer a buyout, we can talk.
Ayson.
Yeah, what do you got for us?
On what point does Clutch Sports call Julie Talbot?
Oh yeah, yeah, go hey, we got you gotta get this guy off the ABB but he can work on the Knights of the Lakers. Don't play, and that's regular season or G league because we don't know where Brony's gonna be. But he can't have games where he can't hit threes. We gotta make sure that happens. So that's like three nights a week. You'll be off, buddy nice.
And look if they haven't called on some of the takes I've had about the Clutch Sports lebron world. Uh, if this is the thing that pushes it over, I'm ready for my my, my close up. I've leaned out a little bit, I shaved earlier. I'm ready to go.
Let's go well, speaking of Bronnie James, the odds on him winning Rookie of the Year have now skyrocketed. Now Zach Edy is the consensus betting favorite at sportsbooks for Rookie of the Year. He's had a pretty big start to his Summer League career. And Edies was a guy who boy two time Player of the Year. But does his game dominate or does a translate? And he's been pretty good so far, so okay. However, more bets have been placed on Bronnie James to win Rookie of the Year than any other player at multiple sports books, even more than Alex Sar. Here's more bets on Broni to win Rookie of the Year than Alex Sar to hit a field goal. Right, So that that's how big a deal it is. Bet MGM took a thousand dollars bet a few days ago. Draftking says, listen, EDI's attracting more money, but more people are betting on Bronnie James to win Rookie of the Year than anybody else. Now, what's the big takeaway because this is a big deal obviously, right, the big takeaway is this, man, I wish I ran a sportsbook. I would take all of those odds. Yeah, what do you want? Yeah, you want who wants to bet on Bronnie James. I will take that action. Come on, come on, I will take that action of Bronie James winning Rookie the Year. Come on, give it to me, anything you want, and I will take your money and I will spend it right away. I'm not even gonna put it into account saying okay at the end of the year when they award it, then I'm gonna feel John. No, I will cash that stuff right away and I will just be I'll start buying stuff straight up. I'll be wearing fur coats to work. Yeah, look at it. I'll have crazy ass jaunty hats. I'll buy new car. I'll be wearing platform boots. What's this. It's all the money that I got from people betting on Bronnie James to win Rookie of the Year. It's not happening, and sportsbooks are more than happy to take all of your money. I mean it. If I could find a way to do a pop up sportsbook stand, I would go downtown, stand outside of the Crypt, and I would go here taking bets on Brinie to win Rookie of the Year. And I'll do it every single day of the year, every day until people say, no one's bet with me in the last like three and a half weeks. Now, look gonna show up. Maybe it's a three at some point, maybe it's on the court, and I will make all kinds of money on that. This is free money for sportsbooks. You want to bet on Brindie to Rookie of the Year, go ahead, you got it.
Well, when we went to uh Ireland, we went out to the racetrack and they actually do have where you can bet, you know, like traditional standing, gonna go up to the counter and everything, but they also have an area where all the different proprietors and betting shops are open, so they have their own odds and their own tote boards and you go bet with them individually and you can literally walk around and shop odds here for Brownie James, everybody's two hundred and fifty to three hundred to one. But I would really love to see Jason Smith and saying, come.
On, load it up. I'll take it off.
Like the fantasy owner that collects everybody's money is like I'm gonna win the league. Either that or I can use their money for six months before I have to work.
Hey, where's that muney? Well, I really thought I was gonna win the league, so I uh, I spent that catch When do I get it? Yeah, it's un Boil'll get it. Don't worry, it's Unboil'll get it. That's up on.
I need a few days, and then you start giving an itemized list for all the flatbreads and sandwiches you bought that six months ago. You already got.
Paid out, Pal, you already got paid out.
I mean, I get that you're looking for a long shot. Everybody falls in love with the storyline of here's Bronnie, but really, just think about this for a second. Bronnie would have to find his way to regular minutes, okay, which is not happening. He's gonna be a guy that's not gonna start. Is he really going to start? No, he's not going to start. He's gonna come off the bench. Even in a best case scenario, is he gonna play enough minutes to win Rookie? To just be honest, I get that. You're Hey, we're gonna throw here, and I'm gonna throw a hundred bucks down, and there's just in case something crazy happens. But you look at the guys are gonna come in, the rookies gonna come in and start and play right away, like you really think Bronnie said, you're just taking money and saying, here, go ahead, just take it from me. Now. I don't want it back. I just want to be able to walk around and have the social currency that I could say to my friends, Yeah, you know, I bet on Bronnie James win Rookie of the Year. Really, why would you do that? Well, come on, don't I sound cool? No, you sound stupid. You sound like sound cool for about four seconds and then everybody realizes, oh, you just flutch Whatever that money was away? How much was it? Was it fifty? Was it one hundred bucks?
What?
What was what was the money you've You could have bought tacos, You couldn't have done something, and instead you just decided I'm gonna give money to a casino who smiled and took it from you. I don't even know if I think you have to go to these sports books and say, hey, we got to make sure that you're taking enough money, Because if I was working a sportsbook and they didn't have a camera on me, or i'd go in the morning. I would make sure the camera wasn't working and I would just take the money and go, yeah, great, this on Bronnie James Brook. Here's your receipt. Great, and I just put that money in my pocket. I would wait and I would waddle out of the sports book at the end to by shift. Hey, I'll come be waddling out. Ah, I just don't. I don't feel good. I'm a little heavy. I'm kind of moving. I back problems now, Yeah all that. How is the action today? Yeah? No, everything's in there. People bet on Bronnie.
Nah.
Nah.
I didn't get a lot of people on that. And I would walk out with all that cash and go, oh man, I'm a millionaire. I'm going to police. I'm good. You're never gonna see me again. I'm taking all this Brownie money and I'm going on a lifetime vacation.
I did that.
It made it sound like you were walking around with pockets full of two pound coins, like you just visited the UK or something weighing you down instead of the paper bills. But yeah, it's the social currency. I think some of it becomes the ideria. You know, guys running their mouth talking about how great the James dynasty will be and how Lebron's gonna pass it down to Browny.
I don't know.
I hope he becomes a serviceable pro player. There's little bits and pieces of his game that you know, you can bring along and we don't need to re relitigate that here. But in terms of placing the bet, yeah, it's like you got bullied into it or you just like burning money.
I mean, just think about this. There's guys in summer League that dominate. I mean that absolutely dot look like Dalton connects second game, but look at twenty points seven assistant. There's guys that show up and absolutely dominate in Summer League and they can't even crack a rotation when it happens for real. Right, here's Brownie James, who can't score more than six or seven points in a game, you know, playing twenty twenty five minutes against other guys who aren't very good. Right, it's not like, oh, hey, well, you know, it's too bad. He's going up against all the best players. The Cavaliers have no When you're a rookie and you're a second round pick, and you're going up against other rookies who are also second round picks, and you can't dominate against them, never mind the better rookies that are playing, or the guys who dominate in summer league, and you can't dominate in the pros. When he gets to the regular season. What are you really doing? Really? What? What are you really going to be doing here?
Seriously?
I would take that money and I would put it in my pocket. Up. Yeah, here's your receipt. Don't worry about Yes, when he wins, come see me. I'll make sure you get your money. Yeah, yes, see that money.
But watching these games, right, there was a guy they drafted last year named Maxwell Lewis, fortieth pick overall a year ago, and he's had some big flashy moments, some big flashy scoring plays, and it's uneven overall, but he's had enough legitimate highlight reel. Now we're picking through and try to find a couple because we need to sell, sell, sell, But is he making the roster. No, No, he's probably gonna be looking for another team, or he's gonna be on one of these bounce back and forth break class in case of emergency, get to the end of the roster kind of situations. But he's a great example of summer league and we get excited about guys in their talent, recognizing again who you're playing against, and not to besmirch anybody. They all, uh, they all signed pro deals.
I did not.
However, we can all, uh, I think, come to an agreement that there are giant dividing points levels, as it were, between you know, being good in summer league and being a functional in season NBA players. That's a dramatic leap for a lot of these guys that they're never gonna make.
But Dan ask that we're gonna bet it and enjoy it.
Now, let me let me ask you this, Yeah, what is what is a longer time to realize you made a big mistake the time it takes you realize betting on Bronnie to win Rookie of the Year when you thought it was gonna be cool and you're gonna get that social currency and people told you you're crazy, or like when you catch a home run ball in the outfield but it's the visiting team and everybody yells you to throw it back and you're like yeah, and you throw it back and then you realize I caught a home run ball and I threw it back? What the hell did I do? How long until you realize what you did was really not smart? Is it? Bronnie is at the home run?
What is it?
How much time lapses until which one is the shortest amount of time until you realize I really shouldn't have done that.
Well, Bronnie, because you knew you shouldn't have before you even put the money down. The other guy might just be goaded in, and maybe there's a big, threatening individual right next to them that wants to throw them onto the field, so you get intimidated. You got the bully pulpit of all of these folks yelling at you. The other is you just willingly stupidly opened your wallet or money clip or whatever you're carrying, or just reached into your pocket and you sack fist, as you said, a burrito or tacos or something of goods and services that you'll be able to enjoy versus Yeah, I'm never getting.
That back exit out about a fresca exit swollen down The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon live from the Tirack dot Com Studios. UH Coming up next, we had a big trade today, but was it really a big trade? And therein lies the game that's next. Right here, Jason and Mike, you're listening to Foxes.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific.
Fox Sports Radio. It is the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, live from the Tirack dot Com studios. We got big second half predictions for Major League Baseball coming up in a few minutes. But big trade went down today in the NBA. We got Rick Buker dropping by, coming up about a half hour to talk about it with us. Russell Westbrook is now out in Los Angeles. He is joining the Nuggets after the Clippers and Jazz made a trade earlier today Utah waiving, the former MVP, will buy out the remainder of his contract. He will clear waivers and join the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets have said, look, we've been in the market for another point guard. We lost a couple of guys in the offseason. Casey he left, Reggie Jackson left. It's like the same guys that Russell Rustbrook was with in Oklahoma City is following them all over there. Yeah, here's KCP, here's Reggie Jackson, here's all this. Well, they laid the groundwork for him to come in and do his magic. So Westbrook is going to head to Denver Nuggets GM Calvin Booth saying on Tuesday, we need help in the backcourt. We're gonna try to continue to identify that and survey the market. If we can add a high level guard, we'll be happy with it. Now, it's not like the Jazz have to buy out a lot of money. It's four million dollars for sure. For Russell. It's not like, oh, we're buying him out of thirty five million. But you know, I you know with this this story comes out today and yes, is it? Is it a big trade because Russell Westbrook once again got traded? Yeah? But is Russell Westbrook? I mean, honestly, is Russell Westbrook still a guy that go?
Whoa man?
We went? I looked at the back of his basketball card. You look at what he's been able to do over the course of his career. What a great player like This is one of those moves where it's okay, it's a depth move for Denver, and I get it. And in the mile high altitude, maybe his his his brand, his style of play is going to exhaust people. Because it might and him playing seventeen to twenty two minutes a night off the bench, Okay, that might work a little bit, but this is not one of those. Hey, the Nuggets just put themselves back in the NBA Finals moves like it's a nice depth move, and that's kind of where it's at. And yes, the big names going on right now, we see them. Yeah, they're big because you want to look at the back of the basketball card and it seems great. But Russell Westbrook moving at this point, it's like, yeah, okay, I mean, I don't think we're gonna be a year from now, we're gonna be saying, man, you know what we didn't think about is we didn't think about Russell Westbrook joining what a big deal that was gonna be. And I say this fully remembering that it was just a month ago. Horace said, you know, if you told me we'd be here in the NBA Final, saying, boy, Chris toms Porzenkis is the reason the Celtics. Now, I get it, but that's not gonna that's not gonna happen here. Porzincis was always somebody who the question was, Hey, is he ever gonna be healthy? If he's healthy, terrific. But this is Westbrook who has been on a downward spiral. Now, the guy's in his mid thirties. He's not the same guy. He comes off the bench. He's an energy player. Look, if the Clippers really thought they were right to continue to build around him, they would have done it. I like this move by the Clippers. I like them moving on that he need to move on from this entire semblance of the realm they had here. Look they moved on from Paul George and Westbrook. Okay, that's great. Now they're still stuck with Kawhi and James hard but at least you got rid of two of the guys. So okay. I think this is a much better move for the Clippers and moving on from Russell Westbrook and the move for the Nuggets. I feel like, man, Okay, they need a guy. Okay, got a guy come and play in minutes. Okay, they got Russell Westbrook. That's kind of where I kind of just shrugged my shoulders at it.
Yeah, you've got Taylor Swift still embarking on her eras tour the Clippers clearly deciding that the street lights instead of spotlight era is ending a bit here. Yeah, you still got two of those four big names, but trying to reconstitute the roster and see what you can do moving forward. I'm curious with them in Denver right when we talk about guys getting added for depth, recognizing where you're at in the career and what you can do. Right, he wasn't a disruptor, and I mean that in the most positive of ways for the Clippers right on. The court still had some moments along the way. This isn't like hit and rewind when he was at the other locker room at the Crypt. But yeah, it's a whole lot of Yeah, it's been a nice career. Now we just add another jersey like the Shack tour. At the end of his career. Where's he at now? I don't even know he signed with another team? Okay, great, and then he can have a giant jersey wall or a jersey quilt made, which is all the rage right now, you know with concert t shirts and your own things that you've done in your life, and you say Hey, let's put all these together, and now we've got a memory thing for the dog to steal.
Ah, you can do that gets you? That's nice? Hey, you know, and that's one of those like, Hey, I found a quilting store that will do that for you want to pay him. It's like one hundred and seventy five bucks and you just bring them the stuff and they'll do it for you. Don't have to do it yourself anymore.
Yeah, you know what the cost of the it's the convenience. Right.
I may like the idea, but if I don't have to do the work, how much am I paying myself an hour?
Smith?
That's hours? I can watch Brownie James, not hit threes. I can watch reruns of some show that I didn't like the first time. Or I can you know, read a book. Okay, first of all, you were good until you said read a book. Secondly, yes, yes, your time is way more valuable.
It was way more valuable.
Unless you really like quilting, then have at it.
Go nuts.
But I guess the point is with Westbrook, he's a jag at this point, right, I mean, he's an extra piece and maybe you get a couple of big games where he impacts the outcome.
And that's the thing. If something happens, he's a nice little reserve piece. But again, it's the expiration date for Russell Westbrook as has passed. But we got more on this, babe. Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe Rick Bucker has a different take on We'll talk to him coming up in a half hour, But straight ahead, big and fearless MLB predictions for the second half of the season coming up next. This is Fox Sports Radio, just picturing Harmon like quilting and it's purple and it's all pictures of former Northwestern legends in front of him after the flatbreads are
