Men Talk Menopause

View descriptionShare

Colin joins a panel of experts, including Employment Lawyer, Matt Ginger, Sales Trainer Paul Kilby, Graphic Designer Paul Tompsett, Psychologist Lee Chambers and Menopause Specialist Bev Thorogood, to talk about why men need to be involved in the menopause conversation.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • While men may not be physically impacted by the effects of menopause, we can still learn a lot by using curiosity and understanding to learn more about the subjects for ourselves.
  • Men do not have to learn a strict routine or set of guidelines when it comes to menopause, as it affects women in strikingly different ways. It's more about understanding how the impacts can affect women.
  • In the last few years, there have been far more cases in which employment tribunals have had to face the effects of menopause. Irrespective of the law, employers need to ensure that menopause is on their agenda.
  • Men cannot be the solution to the problem. Women are not essentially broken, and therefore do not need fixing. Men must simply be open to helping in any way possible, and open to educating themselves furhter on this sensitive issue.

BEST MOMENTS

'It might not directly impact us but we can learn an awful lot'

'Often it requires you to step into things that might be a little bit more uncomfortable'

'It isn't a woman's responsibility to teach us about the menopause'

'We're not broken. We don't need fixing. We just need understanding and support'
