David Fryar on Global Lessons in Personal Injury and the Biggest-Ever PIEF Conference in Geelong 2026.

Rhea Mercado chats with David Fryar, CEO of the Personal Injury Education Foundation (PIEF) about his 2026 travel and industry work across Europe and Canada, plus volunteering in Ukraine.

David explains PIEF’s role as a member-based nonprofit building capability and connection in the personal injury industry through training and qualifications (Certificate IV to master’s programs with Monash), and events including the PIEF Conference and PIEF Encore.

He previews the biggest-ever PIEF Conference in Geelong with 1,000+ attendees, a new Case Manager Summit, international participants (including ACC New Zealand and Fiji, Canada, the US, Sweden’s Karolinska Institute, Netherlands and Belgium practitioners, and Ukrainian PTSD researchers), and notes Australia’s strength in care-based early intervention and case management despite fragmented data systems. He also highlights PIEF hosting the International Forum on Disability Management (IFDM) 2028 in Australia and calls for stronger cross-industry collaboration to improve outcomes for injured and ill people.
