Philip Nolan became a household name as one of the experts who led Ireland’s response to the Covid pandemic. More recently though, his conduct as Director General of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) has propelled him back onto the frontpages. While his position at SFI has now been terminated by the Board, his role in the future of Research Ireland remains unclear. Kevin Doyle is joined by Fionnán Sheahan, Ireland Editor with the Irish Independent, to discuss what's going on at Science Foundation Ireland and explain why, despite Philip Nolan's departure, the story is far from over.
