Hurling star DJ Carey has admitted falsely claiming he had cancer and defrauding people into paying him for treatment.

The former Kilkenny player (54) pleaded guilty to 10 deception charges when he appeared in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court today. He had been due to stand trial but entered the plea when he was formally arraigned before the court this morning.
