For almost 50 years, successive British governments have condemned Israel's illegal settlements in the occupied territories. 

But condemnation never translated into action, and the settlements continued to expand. 

So, why has Andy Burnham’s government finally chosen to flip the script and impose trade sanctions with the settlements? 

Meanwhile, in Israel, political pressure is mounting on prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. 

A newspaper report claims Netanyahu received intelligence warnings ahead of Hamas's October 7 attacks in 2023, but failed to pass that information on to Israel's security chiefs. 

With Israel edging closer to another election, fresh questions are being asked about his political future, and whether his grip on power can survive the growing scrutiny.

Trump meets Catherine Connolly: What could possibly go wrong?

The fall of Lance Armstrong was intertwined with the similarly disgraced descent of his one-time American Postal teammate Floyd Landis.

Landis, having come from a unique rural and religious background, rose through the ranks to take the coveted Tour de France title for himself just one year after Armstrong stood adorned in the famous yellow jersey as a record-breaker en route to retirement and the continued adulation of millions who bought into his story of triumph over tragedy.

In time, both men would be exposed as doping cheats after Landis confessed to what many had suspected, and indeed accused of, for years – creating the domino effect that would ultimately bring Armstrong down.

Twenty years on from his tainted victory in 2006, Landis still has a lot to say, and the Sunday Independent's Paul Kimmage was on hand to hear it.

On the conclusion of a two-part Indo Daily special, we outline why Landis denied the truth for years, the fallout from his eventual admission, and how his story had to come all the way back to the start in order to find a new way forward.
