Another frazzled start to this week's Imaginary Friends Show....we fell like a blue arsed fly buzzing around in a bottle going nowhere fast.

Tunes and nonsensical ramblings as per usual for the first couple of hours.

At around 8:20am we had a nice chat with Wendy Berry, a Kalorama local sharing her story of the disruption to daily life when a devastating storm tore through the Dandenong Ranges on the night of the 9th and morning of the 10th June 2021.  As if the Covid19 pandemic wasn't enough and relentless wind storm left a path of destruction throughout the Dandenong Ranges.  Kalorama was one of the hardest hit towns in the mountain district and Wendy's home was one of the 200 or so that bore the brunt of the felled trees.  Wendy's house was inhabitable for 2 years while she navigated insurance claims and the eventual reconstruction of her home. 

Wendy described the night of the storm and everything that came after it with the community rallying together to support each other in the aftermath.

Wendy is also a part of Rescue Logs, an organisation that was established to salvage timber from the many mountain ash trees that came crashing down in an endeavour to see quality timber being used for furniture making and the like rather than going through the chipper and ending up as mulch.  You can find more about Rescue Logs HERE

We love independent Australian music and spin tunes from local artists over the 3 hours...Sometimes we are lucky enough to have a live performance on the show....quite rare given that 6am is not the friendliest of times for musos...but you never know....
