Thanks for listening to The Herd podcast. Are you sure to catch us live every weekday from twelve to three eastern, nine to noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and FS one. Find your local station for The Herd at Fox Sports Radio dot com, or stream us live every day on the iHeartRadio app by searching Herd. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Ah our number three. One of my favorite guys, Will Blackman in studio love. He's got great film stuff all over the Niners, Eagles. It's the Herd wherever you may be, however you may be listening iHeartRadio, Fox Sports Rodio as one. You know, I was thinking about this. So we have been sitting here. A lot of people are like, why aren't these jobs being filled in the NFL? Usually you get very quick opening cokes. Well, the reason is Sean Payton. So he's interviewed where there Zona, He's interviewed with Carolina, he is interviewed twice with the Denver Broncos because Sean is overwhelmingly the best candidate. So if you and so, everybody's kind of waiting for the domino to fall and Sean Payton and Denver. A lot of people I know this. I had dinner with Sean. He likes Denver. They like him. They would choose him today. Russell Wilson, I'm told, would choose Sean Payton today. It's up to Sean. But when I had dinner with him, you know, we talked about a lot of things, most of them private. But one of the things I said is you do have to be careful about just chasing a paycheck. So they have the Walmart owners and the reports are they would have paid Harbaugh eighteen million. Sean Payton will be north of twenty million. That's resetting the market. But you have to be careful. I was thinking about this during the break. Is that Phil Jackson went to the Knicks for a check. It was an abject disaster. Everything told you, James Dolan, roster cap issues, draft pick inefficiencies, everything told you that was There were warning signs everywhere. When Chip Kelly went back to the San Francisco forty nine ers, he didn't like the NFL, he chose the check bombed. When he went to UCLA, Florida offered him a job and more money, he chose lifestyle. He's been successful. He's very happy at UCLA. It fits him. It's not do or diet, it's not everything right. So he chose lifestyle UCLA. He's got him rolling now the transfer portal. He chose lifestyle over a money. Nick Saban goes to the NFL. He wanted power leverage. Money bombed. Robinson. Canoe jumps out to me, just took a check in Seattle A Rod Rangers. It's money. What happens is when you choose something for money, not only is there an expectation, but you put stress on yourself. A lot of the steroid users in base sall take big contracts. Because of the pressure of the contract, they get into slumps, and then they veered in the steroid era toward help assistance, in organic assistance because they felt the pressure of the big contract. I think Sean Now, I believe he should take a year off. I think like the Knicks job for Phil Jackson. Phil's obviously a brilliant guy. Sean's a brilliant guy. There's all these warning signs with the bronchos, draft capital issues, salary, cap o line issues, Russell's self awareness issues. Is he washed new owners rich, but you don't know much about him. The GM now is semi powerless, it now we think highly of the Bronchos compared to the Knicks. But there were all sorts of like warning signs. But Steve Kerr was offered the job with the Knicks to be coach. He's like, get me out of here, Steve Kerr, quality of life Warriors is great. I'm not taking a check. Almost as a rule, if money is the leading driver, you're in big trouble. And so my takeaway to Sean Payton would be selfishly, there's gonna be two great quarterbacks next year. They may have new coaches. You could be one of them. And by the way, once you get at Caleb Williams or Drake May, they're free for four years. You're not. You can surround a roster and you can build the dream roster. You can't do that now in Denver. You have complete cap limitations for four years, not just this year. Russell's contract gets worse this year going forward. This was the best year of it. So word just came down Tom Pelicaro and Adam Schefter the Panthers hiring Frank Wright has head coach. I think that's a great hire. I love Frank, so that's a very good a They got the right side of the ball. Be sometimes in business you have to take advantage of other people's mistakes. Jimmer says, mistake Dave Tapper. The owner is going to take advantage of it. So that's a very strong hire. They're also very good defensively, so that's not frank side of the ball. But he inherits a very weak division, a very wealthy owner, and excellent front seven defensively with some young talented corners. And he's got a couple of weapons. You got the coach, Now just go get a quarterback. Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo. Carolina also has the ninth pick in the draft. Um, they're gonna have free agent money to spend. I think that's a great higher thinks that's a really really good hire. Yeah, I mean that we said that this year. Carolina is one of those teams that you're like, oh, they just need a quarterback. Yeah, Like the roster's fine, and the division gets very weak. Tom Brady is out of there. It's basically New Orleans. Let's be honest. I'm Derek Carr. That's incredibly attractive to me. I get a defense. I'm never on a defense with the Raiders. Also they got DJ Moore. Now, wait, you just talked about moving, moving your family, up rooting. That's tough. Car mostly a West Coast guy his entire life. You know, I hear Charlotte's lovely, Charlotte's No, it's a nice city. It's a nice city and a day week. I mean that division, if Brady retires, that is the worst quarterback division arguably ever. It's terrible. Desmond Ritter, Andy Dalton, Derek Carr and you know, no, Derek Carr, who's the guy in Tampa? Um? Is it? You said Trask? He might be the starter in Tampa. That is a very good hire. Yeah, Frank Reich got a defense. Get me a quarterback. Ninth pick, by the way, the ninth pick, so mock draft prime example. So Houston's gonna take a quarterback, for sure. The Cults are going to take a quarterback. You wouldn't have to move up far to get like a Will Levis or a CJ. Stroud ninth. You're probably have to get to seventh or eighth. What do you give up? You're not gonna give up much. Yeah, Vegas is at seven. I don't see McDaniel's drafting one eight Atlanta. They just took Ridder. They seem to like what they saw. Just move over him, Just move I would move right behind the Colds and make a run for a quarterback. And then I think this. I think in that division that roster was Frank, that's a playoff team. They just got to get a quarterback. They were in the playoff mix until like week what fifteen sixteen, I know, with a mess at quarterback. All right, let's that's good Hire. Let's bring on Will Blackman, super Bowl champion. One of my favorite people twelve NFL seasons, Harry Is he was a fourth rounder. That's why you're such a grinder. By the way, you were ignored by a lot of these scouts. Not on this show. We never ignore you. You know what? You know what's funny, is uh? Speaking of that? Go into like games like we were playing. We played the Cardinals my last year when I was on the Washington Redskins. I believe the Reskins. Yes, and forget who was one of the scouts were like, yeah, man, we had a second grade, second round grade on you. Why. I know it's funny when you hear that, Yeah, I took I took a pre draft visit to the Steelers because Bill Carra liked me as a receiver because they had the thirty two pick in the first round. So it's just funny they didn't getting to Tony of Holmes. That worked out, so it's all good. He's pretty good. He did. Yeah, so, um, you know you you had Mike McCarthy. Yep, So I have said, oh wait, he just got rid of all his homeboys and Dallas. He got rid of some coaches like Key, like guys that have been with him when I got drafted. Okay, so he's that means he's staying. Jerry asked for changes. Jerry wanted some changes. You're not changing, Dan Quinn, of course not so Jerry basically went to him and said, Mike, you gotta make some changes here. So he did. He probably didn't want to, but he did. So I've defended him. And one of the reasons I've defended him is he got beat up so badly in the Aaron Rodgers divorce. Well, Aaron struggling at the end last couple of years, at the end of the year, and Mike's got Cooper Rush going four and one. When you look at the Niners and that last play, it looks ridiculous. You're a film junkie. You sit on your phone all day with film. When you look at Dallas, right, do they look well coached on film? Here's the thing I think they they are. They can be too simple when it needs to be creative, and they can be too creative when they need to be simple. Okay, if that makes sense. That's why they have a lot of penalties. Are they are trying too hard sometimes? Yeah? You know, I would say, especially in that game when they lost Tony Pollard, I was massive because he's their number one homewwn hitter on offense. So that's why it was interesting in a halftime when when coach mccarthur was asked like, well things changed, he said, no, we're gonna change anything. I'm like, you're right, like a lot's going to change because you don't have that homewn hitter you can line up all over the field. And I felt like maybe they try to use some of the creative runs with Zekeman. Right now, that's not what Zeke does. He's a short yardage back. Now you're not getting any polite, and to his credit, it's like he hasn't been as healthy as he has been the past three years, I would say, and and then in terms of using Cede Lamb, it's kind of like guys were just just spying on him. I mean, he had a lot of receptions. He had. He was a big reason why they were still in that game. But I almost almost looked like he got exhausted towards the end of the game in terms of him having to work so hard because his routes weren't as crisp, you know, as the game went on. You know, I feel like in this in this off season, the things that CD can work on I was big on, Like, Okay, he has he's super gifted in terms of the things he can do athletically. I still go back to that Catchy made Oklahoma the one hander on the side of the day. He made a catch against the Niners, right, And I just feel like, you know, strength is massive. He should get way stronger and then just learn how to just be crisp when his routes for a full sixty minute. So um, it was tough. You know, they got Dalton Schultz, you know, ready in the red they don't look poorly coached when you look at they don't. So the answer questions. They don't look poorly coached. I just feel like in terms of just keeping it simple, because the one thing that Dallas has, Dallas has athletes all over the field, you know, and I just I don't know. Sometimes you just got to line up and just like punched a body interface right, you know, versus trying to be super creative. So, um, you faced a lot of quarterbacks. You paid Packers, Giants, Jags, Washington, and it happens a lot. Kyle Allen and Carolina gets a month or five starts and he kind of wows us. For sure, heinick, but there's a reason they got drafted lower, undersized average arm. We're all falling for brock Purty. But in the end, he went to Iowa State. He's six one, about two fifteen. He's first team Big twelve. Let's give he got some he got some accolades. It wasn't like he was out there just by the way. They were one in three is freshman year. He took over. They went seven and one. No doubt he's a gamer. But when you face these guys that know they get inserted in their later round picks, you at some point, no, you can jump a route. I mean when you look at Purty, what are the things you see that you're like, Okay, that's a whole that's why he doesn't do you tell me? Yeah. I mean again, you look at film any former player, but especially when I look at the quarterback position, the biggest attribute I look at is his is his mindset? You know? Is he ahead of schedule like Joe Burrow? You know, does he see things before they happen, you know, like a Tom Brady or Payton Manning. Like it's all the mindset because everyone could throw, you know, for the most part, everyone could throw in the NFL. So I see him and I look at a guy who is who's well prepared. I give a lot of credits to Kyle shanahand for having him well prepared to go into the game, and he just looks super comfortable. Like that's for me, that's enough. If I have a guy under center who's just comfortable with what we have to do, that's a big deal, you know. And one thing to stood out to me too was when Brock pretty took over, George Kittle was in the media saying like, okay, is it is our job the star is to step up and take over. Now, you know, we have to step up and do our part. We shouldn't put it all on him having to make all these plays, and but he is making plays. So I just just when I look at the forty nine is overall, I just see a well prepared, well coach team. Of course he's the quarterback. You're gonna look at him, you're gonna, you know, evaluate what he's doing. But overall, they're just they're just well prepared and he looks like he knows exactly what he needs to do when it's time. Eagles Niners. So the Eagles have eight Pro Bowlers and nine alternates. Yeah, Niners. Niners have a Pro Bowler in every single unit. Everyone. So it's about as talent to the game as I can ever recall, no question. It feels like there are a few Steeler Raven matchup years ago where you have like nine Hall of famers exactly right, So I look at whereas I look at the AFC, and it's a battle great quarterbacks. I think the NFC is a battle of great rosters. They're just insane. You have literally potentially ten Hall of Famers in this game. Go to your career and you were a very good player in a game where it was you're looking around. I mean, Ray Lewis told me a couple of games he'd look around. It's like, man, I met my match physically, and Ray didn't have a lot of matches for sure. Well, can you go back when you plan these games where it's iconic you I'm sure you had a couple with Green Bay where you knew there's eight Pro bowlers on the field. There was a game my second year in Green Bay. We went down to Dallas. It was two thousand and seven, and this is when Brett farvegart Hurt and Aaron Rodgers came in and just just the atmosphere. One. I just remember how big the Cowboys football team was, you know, I mean you had DeMarcus where you had to you know, we had Charles Woodson, we had Brett five. You had just guys all over the place, you know, and it was and then you knew as a pro athlete it was different, no question. You know, you had you know, Jay Z was at the game, and you know, just all kinds of stuff like it was just it was a crazy atmosphere environment and there was just tons of stars everywhere, and I'm like, okay, like this is like this is what it is, you know, this is just yeah, I'm like, this is I gotta get myself, you know. Right. So I had a few games like that, but that was one that stood out right now when you asked that question. Yeah, I tend to like phil I think Brock Purdy's gonna be. Um. I think it'll be a little bit of a reality check for him. Yeah, I think Jalen's played more of these big games. Jalen's a more natural Jalen's a greater athlete, he's a greater player. I think Philadelphia. I just think to myself, you're asking a lot of Brock Purty if he would think so as a rookie to go to Philadelphia with seventeen boarder, seventeen Pro Bowl players. He got people to give the ball too though. That's what helps. And he has hell of offensive line helping him. Like that's it's gonna be. It's gonna be what does the Niners offense do? Because I saw you looking at film before you came out, right, it's the power. I mean, even use check right, everyone is on deck. Like if you're dressed on offense and you're a skill guy, You're getting the football some one way or another, like be ready, like you're gonna get the football right right now? What I love And we'll see how see Christian McCaffrey feels with his calf. But I love the fact that Elijah Mitchell got healthy. Yes, and that's a huge because he's a home run hitter. You know. When I saw them drafted, I was like, you know, let me look at his film and I saw he ran a four or three. He could hit the home run and he was perfect for this offense. So that's a one two punch that I like. Obviously, Debo coming back, so they have a ton of weapons. But I will say this about the Eagles, and I know we love you know, we love cool stories. We love you know, like the Niners going through adversity, like all kinds of stuff going on. But the one thing we fail to celebrate is like consistency. And the Eagles have been the best team or year long, like from from jump as long as Jays also, but they overall, like you mentioned rosters though, just built rosters like they have been the best team. Sure they struggled when when Jalen was in the game, but a little bit but they have the best roster and they've been the best team. So it's kind of like like I almost feel like it's it's Philly's time again because they just have the best team and they just know what to do. Like what they did against New York they were like all right, like it's cool, like all right, got let's get rid of you guys, get out of here. No. I mean it was like, outside of sa Kwon Barkley, I'm not sure the Giants have a starter on that team. Giants look like what we thought they were going to look like in the beginning of the year. Yeah, that's what it was. Yeah, I mean even Dexter Lawrence would probably start. But the Eagles have really good linemen. They have they have like two deep every They're just it's it's I feel the Eagles are a Jalen Hurts GM story more than a Nick Sereani story. Not a shot at him, but these rosters are I feel the Niners are at defense. I feel the Niners are at GM and a coach story. Yeah, I mean, how we got the guys and Nick that mess it up? Do you have a lean Kansas City Cincinnati? The video on Mahomes he's not limping, full participant in practice. You know this high ankle sprains, there's grade one is mild, you can play. Yeah, he had one hundred passer raiding one a weight passer rating with the ankle sprain. So my takeaway is from the video Andy Reid said the one four years ago was worse than now, and the one four years ago after the ankle sprain seven days later we through for four hundred and forty yards. So my takeaway is, Mahomes will be fine. You've played with probably a grade one ankle sprain at some point of high right, Yeah, I mean, so I don't think maybe I'm wrong. I'm not. I'm not trying to marginalize the injury. I just I kind of watched Mahomes fighting on the side. Well, I'd like, let me in and they might take away us. He didn't want to take that cleat off for sure. Right, What is your gut feeling about his injury in the game going into it? Well, I mean the one thing is like, is he able to you know, step back and throw play and throw like that's that's the beast thing? And will you have velocity? I think of last year or even the you know when they lost his Bowl to the Timpay Buccaneers. Mahomes running around, scrambling, doing all these things outside of pocket. It's cool, but it wasn't always as efficient as it needed to be. And even last year when they were going through that loser street, but everyone was like, oh, you know, they might They're not going to do well. They might barely finish above five hundred. They made an adjustment mid season where they just got back to the fundamentals and Mahomes was dropping back and just you know, thinking, and Duncan going through his reads, doing all these doing all these things, and I feel like him not being able to run all over the place is something that he It may it may benefit because he'll be able to sit back and get to them and get the football to his guys. That team is built of guys who can take the ball sixty seventy eighty yards, even Kelsey Kelsey after the catch. Kelsey is on film catching jailbreak screens and taking them eight yards to the house. So I think it'll just be a matter of efficiency. They have a ton of a whole running back room, you know, that can be effective. So again it's based on his pain management. But I also think it may benefit him because he won't be trying to do stuff above and beyond. Yeah, I think they took away if you. Greg Kosell came on an hour ago and said, Zach Taylor in the offseason took away a lot of the deep throws for the Bengals and said, let's lean into Burrows accuracy. And this is the best Joe Burrow we've seen. Oh, I've just watched the Bills game. And sure enough, I mean he was. He was beating guys to the punch before guys off the break. Boom, there was to be a linebacker right there, boom. He was insane the accurate that game. Because he is, he's taking a profit. You know, Yeah, we um when you go when you faced a deadly accurate guy, Brady, Breeze, I'll tell you right now, okay, or the crazy Josh Allen, what kept you up at night? Accuracy or like Lamar or Alan or Breeze, Brady, what kept you up at night? So so I'll give you Brady, I'll give you Breeze, I'll give you Aaron Rodgers, right. So with Brady. The hard thing going against Tom Brady is that he already knows where you're gonna be, Like he knows, okay, if he's two yeards, I said the hash he's gonna be over here, and it's like, well, you can't trick him, so just play it and play the percentages. That's what's tough going against Tom Brady Drew Brees, Like you could bear hug the guy, and Drew Brees will find a spot. Like I was covering who the tight end was. I think it was Mham it was it was one of the tight ends in in New Orleans. But anyhow, I was draped and he drew bees through it to like his right knee and that's where he caught the ball. And so that was super. I mean they rocked us. I think it was like forty nine to like ten, and he was just daily accurate. Aaron Rodgers is tough because he can put the football wherever he wants, anywhere on the field at any time, going to his left, going to his right. So it's like when you're going against these teams, like these quarterbacks, you're not so much going like defending the scheme, you're defending the quarterbacks their skill set, their skill set, and that's that's what makes it difficult going against guys very much Breeze in terms of he literally can throw every route, timing location perfectly. Yeah, he's but I see, yeah, But but Breeze is more like the like the Paint and Manning, Like they have their structure, they have their sistant, they have their their things, they go about it right, they're in the command. Burrow is more Brady, just based on the poise and he's like, I know where I'm going and like there's nothing you can really do about it. Yeah, you know, And so Buffalo's defense was lost. They were, Yeah, because the two touchdowns, the two early touchdowns, the one that Hayden Hurst and the one to Jamar Chase, guys are wide open, wide wide open. And by the way, it was twenty seven, but they really had a touchdown on the back of the end zone, which that felt like a touchdown. Yeah, Like Jamar Chase was wide open and middle field like there's no way to have the breast received wide open. And then on the hayted Hurst touchdown, three guys jumped to Jamar Chase and hayted Hurst was wide open in the end zone. So that's that's tough when you know in a playoff game. When you lose, when you lose like that, like that's hard. All right, we gotta go. Sounds good. We got you before the break. It's pleasure to see you. Will Yeah, I'm wearing Dwight shoes. These are pretty cool. Way of wave. What size of you. I gotta get some shoes. Twelve flat, I got wolf and twelve flat twelve I have flat feet and I got you know a lot of it's I don't dress. Shoes are difficult for me. Like you are like a like you order shoes like coffee, you just you tell them. I only wear work from shepherds Um all right, back in a second, Live in La. Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays and noon Easter nine am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio FS one and the iHeart Radio. Property crimes Burglary, Spike, package staff, Spike over the Winter, Simply Safcolin dot com. Protect your house indoor security camera twenty percent off. No safe, like simply safe? All right, J Max, So Carolina has hired Frank Reich new head coach with a pretty good defense. Week Division. J Mack with the news, No, no turn on the news. This is the herd line News. Yeah, I guess what do they say? One man's trash is another's treasure. What I'm saying, Yeah, so the Colts dusted Reich of course. Listen. He took him to the playoffs two times in four seasons, the fifth when he got fired. Andrew Andrew Luck had his best year. Philip Rivers had a good year with him. Wentz went twenty seven touchdown seven picks with him, and then disintegrated. Yeah, Reich, essentially every single year started Week one with a different quarterback, Like, how are you going to overcome? Then? That's just too tough. Wentz had his last great ear with him. I think Andrew Luck had his most efficient ear with Oh no, wait a minute, did you just say Wentz had a good year with him? Do you think Carolina News after Wentz? No? I would hope not. No, yeah, no, But I'm saying Wentz and Andrew Luck had I think they're most efficient ears with him, and Philip Rivers got to the playoff with him, So you can blame anybody you want. He's good with quarterbacks. I would say this is definitely a better job than Arizona. Would you agree? Oh? Absolutely, Yeah. The Arizona's got all sorts of stuff. And now what about Dent. What's the better job Denver or Carolina? Oh? I think Carolina right now, I can start from scratch. I got cap space, draft picks, bad divisions. You don't have is a quarterback? Okay, but again I can get I could sign a two year deal with a Garoppolo. I would sign a four year deal with Derek Carr and then draft quarterbacks every year. You know, just say, hey, Derek, you're our guy. Next two years, we're gonna start, but we're gonna draft somebody eventually too. Now car may not like that, but the market is good for car It's not six teams substantial for cars. So I think Carolina gives Derek suthing he's never had, which is a good defense. If you're Derek car do you want to go work with Nathaniel Hackett in the Big Apple? No, Nope, I want a coach who got a new four year contract. This is a very good higher by them, and they went to the right side of the ball offensive a guy who absolutely gets the best, most efficient version of the quarterback he has. And a fun fact here, Frank Reich through the first touchdown pass in Carolina franchise history? Did he back in nineteen ninety five? That's when you're drink in a bar, right there? Up? There you go, There you go. That's a good trivia. Oh boy, Joe Burrow, let's go back to Burrow versus the Chiefs. Burrows trying to get you back to back Super Bowls. Team owner Mike Brown spoke last week about keeping Burrow in Cincinnati for his entire career, but did hint at a hometown discount. The latest on Burrows contract extension comes from Jeremy Fowler, who reports that an anonymous NFL executive says the expectation, Oh my gosh, is burrows contract will surpass Aaron Rodgers league high average of fifty mill a year. Well, you're not gonna keep te Higgins, but you have Jamar Chase. What you have to do on this is hit draft pack. If you hit draft picks, they don't have a ton of guys I have to keep. I have to keep Jamar Chase. Absolutely, I would keep Henry the rush end, but this is a roster that you're keeping Joe and you're keeping his favorite weapon. You're probably gonna keep your your two highest graded old lineman. You eventually will have to probably let Joe Mixon go and Sammy p ryan On stay. But I mean, is it much harder, Yes, Jesse Bates in the secondary. At some point you're gonna be losing guys. Well, that's right. They spent a lot of money two years ago in free agency. You're probably not re signing those guyl Collins who's out for the season. So you gotta You're gonna have to hit on draft picks. You can make it work when the quarterback's great. Kansas City had to get rid of Tyree Hill and Ward. You can make it work, but you gotta hit on certain Kansas City doesn't miss in a lot of draft picks. Creed Humphrey, they drafted him. Best center in the league. Yeah, Joe Tuny, they brought over best guard in the league, like Brett Beach. Had to make some amendments, but he hit on almost. Let me quickly call up the Bengals draft. Uh. They got Daxton Hill last year. Um a second is it solid defensive back? They got another dB, cam Taylor britt He made a couple of nice plays in Buffalo the year before that. Obviously, Jamar Chase Jackson, Carmen. So it looks like the draft. The recent draft history has been solid. Evan McPherson, Evan almighty, the good kicker. Yeah, wasn't awesome this year, but the year priory was incredible. Um. So they've hit on some picks here and if you got to keep doing and by the way, they've hit on places like corner and tackle and Jamar Chase wide receiver. It's not just hitting on you gotta hit on the right. Okay, you can hit on linebackers all day. You gotta hit on the corner, the large error. Yeah, I mean it's it's difficult. Um, all right, Colin. The final story is the Golden State Warriors and the Grizzlies. I don't know if you saw this last night. I saw that step a big, big dinner night and a couple. It was a family night, John and Vinnie's. Yeah. Yeah. So Curry had forty three, yeah, but in a stunning turn of events, was ejected with about one fifteen left for throwing his mouthpiece in frustration. He does that once, an, So I don't know if we have the video, but here's what Curry had to say after the game. Crucial time in the game and the way that our season is gone is you know, there's questions about the heightened says, the urgency of every detail matters and when you want something really bad. So I reacted in a way that um obviously put myself out of the game and put the team in a tough place that we needed this win in a desperate way, not just because it's Memphis and all the narratives there, but just it's about how we're playing to see the guys bounce back the way it did and and finish the job. A lot of a lot of celebrations in the in the tunnel. Listen, I'm the biggest Curry honk ever. Okay, here's here's the here's Curry throwing the mouthpiece in anger. But the details are what matters. So Curry. When I started a podcast, like over a decade ago, Curry was my first guest. So I've been a long time fan. I don't like this at all. Call it and here's why. The reason he threw his mouthpiece was Jordan Poole took a long three kind of with the game on the line a minute to go. Jordan Poole, remember he got in the fight with Draymond not really a fight. You're not a huge Jordan Pool. I liked Jordan Pool a lot, the company, the Warriors, they trust him, they signed him. So Jordan Pool takes his shot, Curry's angry that it wasn't him. Pool missed, throws his mouthpiece, ejected. Jordan Poole eventually hits the game winning layup and the Warriors win the game. But the fact that you would get that angry that a teammate took an open ish three and throw your mouthpiece and get ejected with the game on the line, that was uncharacteristic from Curry. So I don't like the fights, Like, what does that mean he doesn't trust Jordan Pool. Well, Steve Kerr the other night yet, that's right, he barked at Jordan Poole. Remember you'll get your act together. So here's what I've heard about Jordan Poole, trash talker, even the own team. I like that. I don't um that doesn't play with a lot of um urgency or self awareness in big spots. So kurb barked at him two games ago or not? Yeah, Steve Kerr, Curry barked at him here, So the brains I mean the guys that really run that team are Draymond, Kerr and staff that beings that they need Jordan Pool. Okay, so Draymond's punched him, Curry's throwing his mouthpiece with him, and Kurr's chewing him out two nights ago. So the three guys that run that organization that really are there there, they're the catalyst of it. It's Steve Kerr, Draymond and Curry Core all frustrated with Jordan Pool at times. Um, I listen, we've disagreed on some stuff. I don't think we've ever disagreed more on the Draymond punch. Um, I didn't love it, wasn't a fan of it. You didn't hammer Green the way you should have. Punching out teammates, you know, not really cool. Um. I do worry though about Pools Psyche. I got punched out by Draymond, getting chewed out by the CoA and my teammates that pissed. I agree that he's want to do what I want to do. I just think it's just not a great thing. It might be too small and not a huge deal, but going forward, I just like, does that mean that Curry doesn't trust Pool. I don't know. Well, it does tell you something. Curry gets frustrated with him. Draymond gets frustrated. Kurry gets frustrated. They they will not win the championship without Jordan. That's import And in the finals, I know gives a Curry show. He's obviously he's still he's still. My knock on him is he'll give you twenty eight the next night, I'll give you six. Like he is inconsistent. He's not a but but on his good nights, when when when Curry hits the bench, he's like he can fill a basket. Well, you know what he's doing. He's actually playing on like James Wiseman and Kuminga, who were giving you nothing and they were supposed to be integral this year. So the Warriors need Pool. Um Let I'll put it behind me. I'm a Warriors guy. I like Curry. I don't even know. I wouldn't even throw it. Why would I get a te for throwing it away from the action? Why can't I throw I guess it landed in the front row. It was a weird ejection. Was a minute left in a close game? What are the people? So I don't that doesn't feel like I wouldn't have teed up a guy for that. If we'll remember your mouthpiece to the bench, what do I care? Remember against the Calves in the finals, he threw his mouthpiece and got a big tech. I don't remember he rejected. But you can't throw stuff into the crowd. I mean, you know, come on, Curry, I'm disappointing. I would. I would be the rep that led a lot of stuff slide and then players would like me a lot. Oh that's what you need, guys liking you and then cursing you out. I'll be ice cream for breakfast parents. I don't carry threw his head band over here. So what you're saying is the day if bomb you here on the set, you're fine with that. Yeah, I mean everybody makes a mistakes. I don't care. I didn't say it was a mistake. I said I was upset to a guy for throwing his mouth piece. Of course, am I wrong on that? Probably if I throw it to the warriors bench, dang it well to the warrior's bench. But this was this was toward the crowd, like the front row, Like where do you expect it to go? It was the home crowd. He wasn't trying to God, you guys are rigid. I mean, definitely a technical. I don't say this. I would not give out a lot of technicals as a as a ref. I wouldn't give them all. You could cuss me out all the time. You need to draw a line in this. Will you that lax parent who never grounded your kids? No, no, no, no. I by bark, but I I tend I never hold a grudge like a lot of these officials in the NBA. You feel like they hold a grudge. Ref show like, I'm not into that at all. Bark at me all you want, only don't bump me. Don't get physical. I mean if you bump me, as a coach, I'll tee you right up. But I'd let a lot go. You could bark to me. Luca barks every time up the floor. Nobody can plays like Luca. Yeah, I'm okay with it. J Mack with the news. Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the herd. Lie, Well, what is the precedent for throwing stuff? Like if I took my head band off and threw it? Is that a team? I think it's pretty easy, don't throw stuff like if you take off your helmet in the NFL, remember the guy and that's a that's a weapon. Well, helmet, you're not throwing it, just taking that helmet off. Talking Piazza, Clemens bats, I'm talking a mouthpiece. We're talking practice here, a mouthpiece or a headband. I guess it is a t. I don't know it is right, I don't know, a couple of rough shows over here, A couple of guys on attention zebras. Be sure to catch live editions of the Herd weekdays and noon eastern a Empacific. Here we go the Brady hunch. Here's the story of a man named Brady who was thinking he will join another team. He had his fun down there in Florida, but now he wants another ring. Here you go, all right, Brady hunch? Yes? I like it. Are the Bucks a good thing fit for Tom Brady? Knicks? They actually are. Do you know? Their offensive line allowed the fewest sacks in the NFL. He gets a new coordinator, he'll hand pick him. They have no established quarterback under contract, so they want him. I think that's why they got rid of coaches quickly right after the season to send a message to Tom. So I think that's a fit coming back. Okay, Are the Saints a good fit for Tom? Brady next season, no defensive coach, least amount of cap space in the league. So Tom's at the point where he's gonna come in and go, I need this, this this. Remember the Bucks, he said, I want Gronk, I want a b I want Lenny Fournette, I want to write tackle. They got no cap space, and Dennis Allen has now had two opportunities as a head coach and it's been a disaster with both. It's fair, all right. How about the Raiders. Josh McDaniel's good fit for Brady next season? I don't think it is. Josh Jacobs is a free agent. What if they don't bring him back, because if you got to pay Brady. The other thing, the offensive line's okay, good at left tackle, but needs a little help. Darren Waller's gonna be there, but he had injuries last year. And you have to win every game, aim by a shootout in a division with Herbert and Mahomes because the defense is bad. I mean, they had huge double digit leads all year and couldn't sustain them. It's on the coat. So, buddy, are the Titans a good fit for Tom Burrady? This is one I don't think it's a fit. Oh, line struggling, not a lot of cap space. Remember they would eat I think it's about fourteen million of dead cap money for Tannehill if they moved off him. Tannehill gives them more athletic ability and they don't have any weapons. I mean Derrick Henry doesn't. Derrick Henry feel a little bit like a pitcher that's pitched a lot of innings, Like at some point he's gonna run up against it and they only have one receiver and he's a kid. To me, I don't think it works. Yeah, here we go, Miami Dolphin's good fit for Brady next season. I think it's a great fit. Oh he First of all, he's got speed receivers Jalen Waddle and Tyreek Hill. Get it to him, bubble screen it. Offensive line bad though, left tackles good. Rest of it a little regrettable. But what I do like is he's got a lot of guys that are good after the catch, so Tom didn't have to sit in that pocket forever. They are going to address the old line. That what they have to address in the draft is the old line. But it's a lot of and they had some old line injury, so it's not as bad as it looked this year. But they've got guys that are good after the catch that fits. And also it runs the San Francisco offense. So as we've often said with Kyle Shanahan and Mike McDaniel, it's quarterback friendly, not quarterback centric. How about the Jets. Are they a good fit for Brady next season after adding Nathaniel hack At the Wizard offensive genius to the staff. I'm not handing my career to a young roster, a zany owner, and a coach that has to win this year. It just feels like it's just not They don't have any momentum. I think Tom wants to join something either with a lot of town or a lot of momentum. Wait, they have momentum, but it's just a bad thing. Didn't like gore a touchdown in their last six starts. That's momentum, like four different starting quick I have no offensive momentum, no offensive identity. But Breece Hall's coming back, so there's that. How about the forty nine ers? Should Tom go back to the Bay Area where he's from. It's kind of kind of not. Let me ask you as long as Brock Purtis not off. If they lost twenty four to twenty three, why would you Why would you want to pay your quarterback? You don't have to even if he loses. So yeah, I mean again, if it's a if it's like Brock Purty loses, I mean, if they get beat thirty eight to seven and Purties completely over a Skis, then you have a discussion rookie quarterbacks in conference championship games. Oh and four straight up. That's why I like Philadelphia. I can't believe you're holding nondo San Francisco. You're really into it. Well, I think, well, we'll see what happens tomorrow. Finally, Oh, I like this the Brady hunch. Should Tom Brady retire instead of playing next season? Just not in that shirt? Yeah? Yeah, I mean it's for what do you have against? What is that a pineapple on a shirt? I might have that. What you got against? Well, you're a former sports rider. That's how that's a sick. If you literally go to if you go on vacation and see somebody in a pineapple shirt, it's a former sports rider. I mean, maybe that was too large of a pineapple. I have shirts of small pineapples that are cool. Ladies like it. Man, it's money. You're married, so that's kind of irrelevant. I know, fair point, it's kind of useless. It's kind of useless to look good in. Yeah, you stopped working out, right, you don't work out ever? Who cares? No? I I but I went. I did pasta last night and had no no guilt, pasta bowls of it, right to bed. Why would you ever have guilt for eating pasta? Well, I mean, you know, like I said before, she's trapped and trapped. She got me now, don't know. I'm not going anywhere. Uh So what's the point of working out? She coming to the Super Bowl or no? And she don't no interest? Neither is my wife. So no, we can go out and party living it up. Okay, well we got the party win. I'm gonna bring the pineapple shirt. Okay, all right, thanks really appreciate that. Okay, good Power Hour today Greg Cosell. I thought he was excellent Today. Greg Cosell breaks down the Eagles Niners, some concerns with brock Purty. I thought it was very strong. If you're a Niner fan, goalless Newer podcast. We'll put Greg Cosell on it. The concerns the film is saying on brock Purty are real. And also he made me like Cincinnati against Kansas City.
