Thanks for making us part of your day, Shady McCoy in about five minutes, how we long stop buy as well. Today on a little crazy Saturday, a weird Sunday where you had a lot of big favorites Philadelphia and Francisco, and you had upsets Cowboys Chargers tonight is really interesting because the Cowboys were so humiliated by San Francisco. My feel is almost always take the talented teams who not only loses but gets humiliated. Now Carolina just got humiliated, but they don't have the talent to bounce back. Dallas has some talent, not as much as Detroit or as much as they think. But I like the Chargers tonight.
Yeah, I have a My kid's college tuition fund is on the Chargers getting plus two and a half. I may not come into more of the Chargers don't deliver.
R I know, well they get They get Austin Eckler back. So the Chargers are good. They've struggled in some situational offensive football moments. Eckler is like the missing piece for that now Mike Williams is gone, but wide receiver, they got big bodies everywhere. I don't worry about that. They've not been a good fourth and one, third and two. Eckler is a tremendous as the tremendous ability to get three yards out of one, four yards out of two. So I think they will solve much of that issue, which is, you know, that's why games hang in the balance every week. They can't put them away.
Two words.
Kellen Moore puts on a show tonight for the Chargers.
All right, we do it every Monday. Colin right, Colin wrong, plenty of both. Here we go where Colin was right. I have defended Robert Sla every time the Jets lose. The Jets come out and say fire him, and I'm like, he's as good as a coach can be with the personnel he has. This defense, even missing its top corners, was great last night. Don't blame a coach because a roster has inefficiencies. He didn't wiff on a left tackle and a quarterback. This team plays hard, they play with passion, and the fact that with Zach Wilson in seventy three passer ratings they're beating Philadelphia is a testament to how good this head coach is. He didn't draft Zach Wilson, not his call.
Where Colin was raw.
I figured Philadelphia would eventually with Jalen Hurts, figure out this offense, and they can't. They're stuck pedestrian seven picks six all of last year. Yes, they clearly as we predicted, would miss Shane's We said Philadelphia is going to win the division. They're not going to be as beautiful and dynamic offensively, but I thought they'd figure it out by now, and they just haven't. They make more mistakes, you know, it's coordinators matter, and they're still trying to find an identity.
Where Colin was right, I said.
I went to Seattle for the Husky Oregon game, and I said, not usc but these are the two best teams, and they look like it. Well coached playmakers, pass rushes, first round quarterbacks. Here's how it ended.
This from forty two good snap, good hold, kick us on the way, kick us up, end over in tick.
Stillid did miss it?
Right?
Did missive?
I don't believe it, Kim, I.
Don't believe it.
It's a pandemonium at Uski Stadium.
Not just better than the USC, significantly better than USC.
Where Colin was raw.
I have defended Derek Carr for years, but the final two drives for the Saint summed it up with a great defense and excellent receivers dumped it off quickly underneath or uncatchable balls late. Derek Carr's offenses don't score enough points. Five games this year twenty points are less, twenty fifth in yards per attempt. That is not good enough. O line's good, receiving, targets good. Alvin Kamara, this is on Derek Carr, and the critics are.
Right where Colin was right.
I said about Brock Purdy, he's good. We don't know if he's very good, and yesterday was an example that he is good. But he completed twelve passes against the great defense I said, I felt he was somewhere between like the eleventh the best quarterback in the league and sixteen or seventeen, probably middle or less. And that's what the game looked like for me now. In fairness, Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel were gone for large chunks of the game, but brock Purty wasn't going to continue to put up monster numbers. The MVP talk was silly. He's good a Kirk Cousins. Kirk Cousins is good. They're not very good. He can't carry a team. He has to mostly be carried. But I did think brock Purty was what I said, capable of making smart decisions in big games on the road, and I thought he proved.
Yesterday where Colin was right.
I kept saying the Trojans are two Caleb Williams reliant. I said it last week in the week before. What do they do well beyond Caleb Williams. So when he plays poorly, you watch Saturday night what you witnessed. They don't do anything well. I thought their defense was okay, but it had been terrible for three straight weeks. It's great to have an amazing quarterback that's awesome, but you've got to be more than that. It's one of the knocks I have in the Buffalo Bills. Yes, Josh Allen is great, what's your off speed pitch? What if he's not great? This program has become way too reliant. I've said this week after week on Caleb Williams putting on a cape to save the team, and if he's off, they're bad.
Where Colin was raw.
Oklahoma forget about USC. Oklahoma is rated six in the latest USC poll. Brett Venables, not Lincoln Riley, has developed a culture in a year and a half based on substance defense. They've improved last year. I said, I don't know, I've never seen an Oklahoma team that looked that disorganized. Now, they haven't played a great schedule, but they did beat Texas and they looked like the better coach team than Texas. Lots of substance, not a ton of flash. Right now. Brent Bennables is.
Right where Colin was right.
I said in the offseason the Patriots were the slowest team in the league. Drafting two kickers and three guards was an outrageous draft weekend decision. Belichick is tone deaf on offense, they haven't scored over twenty in any game. They have no skill position players, and I had predicted they were a fourth place team. I thought mac Jones would be better, but I thought it was outrageous, considering that everybody in the New England area knew we need more speed, that five of their draft picks were interior offensive linemen or kickers.
Where Colin was right.
I like Jason Tatum, but I've always felt he can't carry you to a title. He's not a Giannis, he's not a and mj abirta Magica Kobe. He's just really really good. And NBAGMS in their annual survey did not have him as a top five player to start a franchise. Anthony Edwards had more vote, and so did Victor wimbin Yama. The rookie Tatum is a really good basketball player, but I think the Celtics, by acquiring Drew holiday Porzingis with Jalen Browns, are signaling the reality of Tatum's game big fourth quarters. He's usually good, but not consistently enough great, and he needs more talent around him. Where Colin was right or Colin was wrong in a Monday and both twelve years two Super Bowls and a six time Pro Bowler. Lashan McCoy is joining us on a Monday, the former Philadelphia Eagle watching his Eagles struggle to figure out the offense. You know you had in six years Philly, for Buffalo, Kansas City, Tampa, you had coordinators or position coaches who were simply better than others. Yes, I do feel watching Philly, and this is no knock on the new guy. They kind of lost their identity. Is that fair? When you watch him?
I think we're h I think we nor identity, but we're trying to still find it. I think once with a new coordinator and then Jalen's just trying to figure that thing out. It looks a little different from last year. And man, it takes time to jail. You know, this is his first year calling plays, and with that type of exposedive offense, so many good players, you try to get everybody involved. Right when we get aj his his certain amount of plays. We got to get Swift his carries.
Right.
Then you got Devonte, so you're trying to spell all around. Then you got tight end, got Dallas in there too, that's pretty good. Got Gager, so you're always trying to figure that out, right, And that's why the Andy Reid's and Sean mcvaze are so special. Kyle Shannam so special because they could they find a way to get everybody involved.
They have displace the play sheets.
I mean back in the day with Indy reed to be me and it didn't be DeShawn Jackson and Macklin. He's shining. Get everybody involved. So it just takes time. It takes time.
You know, you you were critical. I think last year on this show of Jalen you said I love him, but don't confuse him with Patrick Mahomes.
Yeah.
Do you still feel that he's really really good? But we've annoyted him to a position that may have been somewhat coordinator driven.
Well, See, the thing with Jalen Hurts is that I don't know his ceiling because each year he gets better and better and better.
They count him out.
He can't throw, He's throwing the ball deep, right, He's he's always constantly getting better. I mean he struggled, you know last game and yesterday, so that that happens. But I think that he's he's deserved, he's deserved the type of credit he's getting right now. I wouldn't put him in the Patrick Mahomes category yet, Yeah, right, I think I think Pat is he's something special, right, Patt has something special where you could put him in any system. Guys could be injured, got to be hurt, he'll you still have a chance to win. Even the only lost that the paint or that the Chiefs had against the Lions.
If them guys catch them balls, they've win that game.
Right, And Chris Jones was in play or Travis Kelsey, So he's that different of a player. But Jenleen he's terrific as well. He's just he can run the ball and throw the ball, do different things.
Just that.
I think we don't see where his sillling's at because he's still getting better and better better. He's still young. Jenen Hurts is still hit a young quarterback, young player.
So when you you know, I said, this is a long season. It's not college football. The margins are close. It's not like Bama against Kentucky. Right, Like every team's got dudes. And I watched the Jets and I'm like, listen, most of their talents on one side of the ball. I do not think it's sustainable to have a quarterback with a seventy three passer rating, beating teams. Now they got Kansas City at home or affiliate home. My takeaway on the Jets say is I think that staff does as good a job as you can with the personnel they have. Is that I don't think it's a stainable team down the stretch. At some point you gotta score.
Well, well, you said that, and I agree with you.
Right, Robert salaz On an excellent job with the players that he has in that locker room. You know, the descriptive play was that, Okay, we want to have Aaron Rodgers lead this franchise. Right, I've got a good defense, a lot of good playmakers, got some officive players that can make plays.
But but your quarterback is hurt? So now what do we do?
Plan?
And b I think with Zach Wilson, he's doing the best he can. With Zach Wilson. You know, Zach, he shows flashes of some really good quarterback play. Then he shows flashes of some bad quarterback plays, some bad decisions. But with the with the players that he has in that locker I mean they're they're doing well. They battled up, they battled with the with the Chiefs. They battled with the Eagles, they beat them. You know, So he's doing he's doing a pretty good job with the players he has.
So as I watched Buffalo last night and it's a little like USC. Yeah, I can love Josh, Allen and Caleb. But even with Mahomes, if you look at what he has, a great defense, a brilliant coach, a horrific GM. They reboot constantly. They rebuilt an old line in Kansas City in winter. I feel like when I watched USC in Buffalo and Buffalo last night. If Josh plays well, they're good. If Josh doesn't play well, they're not good. Should they go out because they lost their best linebacker in corner? So they go out of the trade deadline. You can make an argument for this shady and say, listen, Josh's style got about four more years of prime, We're going to sell some draft picks. We're going to go get a top linebacker. They lost Milano, they lost White the corner.
Then ed Mins went to the Bears.
So I'm thinking to myself, should Buffalo just say, hey, listen, our windows about three years to four years here, like Mahomes and his prime Burrow we can't sit because those guys don't get this team. To me, feels like they've got a decision to make it the trade deadline. Would you give up some future for right now? No.
I think the Chiefs the they're in the same boat, right, expensive quarterback, good pieces around them, you know, with Travis Kelcey and you look at Stephan Diggs.
I talked to Brett Veach, the GM for the Chiefs last week.
We're just talking about the players and et cetera, and that they're so funded with the quarterback that they can't just go out there and just get a lot of free agents. They so they got to go to the drafts. But when you have a quarterback that that's good, like a Josh Allen, like a Patrick Mahomes, you take them cars. You take them cars, and you deal them and you play them because they can still win with Josh Allen, right. We the thing with Josh Allen is we see him at his worse four three picks four right, right, But then you see when he when he's clicking, they like a whole different team. So I don't think they need to go after and you know, gamble for this pick for right now, they have a good enough team and they're well coached, solid GM where they can win games.
Same thing like the Chiefs.
The So I watched the Miami Dolphin yesterday.
Okay, they flying by the way, Tyrieg Hill.
I'm saying that right now, Tyrieg Hill should win the MVP or at least beumber one.
And you know in the voting, can that kind of football the speed boat of the NFL. Weather gets cold, it gets windy, like I look at that and I think it's Big twelve football. I love watching, right, that doesn't That's not a Super Bowl team, is it.
That's hard to say.
I mean Andy Reid, I love him and he told me, Lashawn, you can't go to heaven if you run the ball too much.
He told me that. So my thing is with the Dolphins. They got a smart head coach.
Man Mike is an extremely intelligent you know, coordinator and coach. And the way he downs and plays up toua is he knows exactly where he wants to go with the ball. Right, they have a good enough team. I think I need to see a little bit more from the defense. And I think Jayleen Ramsey will be back, you know, sooner than we think but you can win with that team. I mean yeah, Like I think the Bills come to Miami, that'd be a good game. I think the Dolphins probably win that game, right, those probably split. And I look at every when I compare like championship teams, I look at the predigree.
Right.
The last the championship team is the Chiefs. You've seen a speed offense down that last year. They didn't do it as much, but that's what he's known for, right, And they have that in Miami. This gotta be more consistent and better on defense.
They got a shot. So what do you expect.
It's Cowboys Chargers tonight tonight.
I'm going to that game, by the way, you are.
Yeah, so we want to report back when when Dallas isn't is in a weird spot. Well, Jay Mack and I have said this, Detroit actually has the talent people think the Cowboys do, right, Okay, so the Cowboys always have that sort of global pressure. We always think they're a little more talented than they are teams like Cleveland. That defense is insane. That defense is good Detroit, that offensive line, golf running backs insane. But when I look at the Cowboys, I wonder I sit to myself and think, are they that talented? I mean, you're gonna see it tonight. I think the Chargers have more good players than than the Cowboys. Enan Allen player for player, Bosa, Mac Slater, Derwin James. I think the Chargers have seven elite players now that Trayvon Diggs is out, Mikah, Zach Martin, c D.
Lamb.
But but the thing, the thing with the Cowboys now and then, I gotta be honest. Now, I think the Cowboys are extremely talented. I mean, yes, it's only one week.
Spot.
I feel like on the Cowboy especially the offense will be the quarterback. Everything else. The line is solid, line's good, Okay, they got a good running back in the backfield that they are are all pro wide receiver ceedee Lamb. Well, I think it's a number one receiver, yes, right. And then Brandon Cooks. They don't use him in that conservative offense. But if any any other offense that Brandon cook is on, he's he's going to get busy.
Okay.
So you like their talent, yeah, Okay, the defense too, Okay, So they the Cowboys have gotten very bad second half offense, very bad red zone. Okay, the Chargers with Kellen Moore, the Cowboys oc have gotten great in the second half and great in the red zone. If tonight the Chargers come out and it is a Kellen Moore show off, Clever in the red zone, great in the second half. If you're Jerry Jones, because you said you love the Cowboys. If you're flying home and you get beat tonight Dallas after being humiliated and out scheme by San Francisco, do you have discussions with your son Stephen to make a coaching change if they are beaten soundly tonight?
You know what I don't. I don't blame Mike McCarthy.
But you said it was a conservative offense.
And why is that?
Because Mike McCarthy, But why why why.
Is he so he holds school so well, he's what the Packers They threw the ball deep, they took the shots, but they had aaron, they took shots. The reason why, now, when you look at his offense, why is the soil conservations?
Why?
Why why is he why why is he doing that? Why is he called him? Please?
Because I think he well, I think he realizes, Dak.
Here we go.
That's what I'm getting to. When your quarterback is limited. You gotta you gotta call the plays that fits his skill set. Right. So for example, when they got Brandon Cooks, I said, Okay, Wow, this is gonna be nice. See p Sidi Lamb in the slot. You're gonna let him do a lot of different things. Why you gonna have some some speed on the outside, Tony Pollard. But then when I start watching him play, I said, oh wow, Mike McCarthy, he's he's letting the defense win all the games.
Right, great field was just for the offense.
You know, picks and turnovers, sacks, Michael Parks, all that type of stuff. So now when it comes to the offense, you want to run the ball, run the ball. I'm like, Oh, he's scared that his quarterback's gonna turn the ball over.
He doesn't trust that.
He doesn't trust that.
You can't say it publicly in Dallas.
Oh I do, Hair Fox Doubs.
I'm gonna say it because the truth is when you watch them, they play as if, Okay, we're gonna let our defense win the game and let our rookie or or quarterback.
I don't want to call a.
Rookie, but he's playing a rookie. The way they call the plays for him, they're trying to protect them, they're trying to hide them. Yes, you can't hide a guy that's making the hundred someth million dollars. You gotta hurt him play. So that's why I don't blame Mike McCarthy because when he had a quarterback that was throwing the ball, he let it go deep, short, you let everything go. But when you watch him plays like the you condense the playbook for a reason, the reasons he don't want to turn the ball over.
That's the truth. He's protecting him.
Well that I think it makes sense though, Right, Well, no, I've said this about green Bay and Jordan Love. They're coaching him like they don't trust him. When you watch the Texans with C. J. Stroud, to let him go, I mean red zone to the yard line, throw it by the way. That kid makes good decisions.
Yes, I like him.
So what the coach calls tells me what the staff truly thinks of a quarterback. And you're saying Dallas doesn't trust Dak.
They don't trust him. Think about it though, So, like what game was it? The Colonel's game? They're down I'm going to say two scores.
Yeah, and he running the ball? Why you run the ball? You donal school.
I want to know. My theory on that is because I said this on the air that McCarthy was protecting Dak because if he threw a bunch of picks, the narrative from the national and local media is Dak picks all you talked about is so McCarthy kind of protected him. Thought we're gonna run our way back in or we're not gonna win. It's one game, we'll get out of town. So I do think to your point, because when I watch him play, I think the offense is dull. I think Dallas is a considering now. I do think Dalton Schultz the tight end. They missed him. I liked him, but I feel like it's a dull nineteen ninety four offense.
Yeah.
But and you have a point there, But you got to look deeper into it, right, And when we look deeper into it, it's like they're trying to protect their quarterback. They don't want to lose the game. And we have a defense like they do have. I mean, Michael Parsons, he's from my hometown. So I've been watching for years and everything he's doing now he's been doing and he's that type of different player. That defense, they fly around the ball. So if you have a defense like that, it's like, you know what, let them win the game. If you watch all their big wins, right.
They beat Cleveland yesterday, field goal, field goal. They want field goals?
Come on, cop was louder yas they get all the way down to the red zone, right, don't dumps run the ball, run the ball and they kick field goals.
That's how they win.
They let the defense go out there and winning games. That's the same that's the same formula that the Dallas has been winning by. But now you have a team where okay, the defense has a bad game. It happens in football, jay le hears had a bad game. Party, they've been playing great, bad game. Now what you need You need your officers to show up, use your quarterback to show up. And if you can't do it, you can win against the big teams. But they are talented though, I mean, that's a talented group.
All right.
We both like the Chargers tonight, you like Dallas.
I mean I don't like neither team. I'm not I have nothing in it. I have nothing in this one.
But if he was talking about the strictly talented, you take Dallas. Yeah, I think they're more talented.
But the Chargers are good. They're talented too. On paper. They look.
I'll say this, I never did, You're more talented.
I think that. No, no, I think that. I think Dallas is more talented.
I think on paper you can say that the Chargers were probably because even at one point they had.
Each position had like a top player paid in that position. So but they get results.
Oh, we'll see right, all right, we both you, we both I like Chargers by a touchdown tonight, Shady.
Who who's the best quarterback that the Cowboys have beat this year?
Just rattle them off for me, I've forgotten who is it?
Snow what I will say, it's the best sport that they lost to was Brock Purty.
Oh yeah, they got smoked by uh and they and Josh Dobbs, Josh Dobbs and they ate Zach Wilson and Daniel Jones.
They did beat him in a different fashion though that doesn't matter.
Yeah, they did clab rooms.
I'm saying, if you play a team's supposed to win and you just you win, that's cool. But if you play the team's supposed to win and you dominate him, it's like, okay, we did, were supposed to add more.
That's fair.
Goold see anybody?
Yeah, always good man. It's like a living room. I'm just relaxing here, you know.

That was good.
Let's start with the Jets. Boy, their defense phenomenal without cornerbacks one and two sawt Gardner DJ Reid both out with a concussion. The Jets did a phenomenal job defensive. The offense was a bit of a nightmare. You see Zach Wilson and Breese Hall doing some things, but they only had two hundred and forty four yards.
Colin, I'll tell you what though, Garrett Wilson and Breeze Hall are a's. Those are good players, and they're young, and on the rookie DA they're really really good players.
A lot of promise. This is unsustainable, though Robert Sala talked after the game about the offense.
Offensively, we did a really nice job moving the ball, especially in the second half. I know the yardage isn't going to look like that, but look look good. But I thought we moved the ball well on the second half, and we gave ourselves opportunities. We just, like I said, like you said, we got to finish without freaking close.
I think we're Hey. I don't think Aaron's gonna play, although there's a lot I mean, listen, it's fun speculation. I don't think he's gonna play. But here's my question, and this is probably dumb question. If Zach won seven of the next nine and Aaron was healthy as a franchise, knowing he's not one hundred percent healthy, knowing doctors recommend probably want to have him grow strength in that Achilles, would you bring him in.
He's not coming back. I don't even like talking about this.
It feels silly.
I'm just gonna point out something about the Jets offense district their longest two drives of the entire game. We're fifty and fifty one yards. Oh, I know, resulting in field.
It's not sustainable.
It's not sustainable. That being said, the schedule eases up. They've now faced the Chiefs defense, which we agree is very, very excellent, the Bill's defense, which has been good with pre injuries to White and Milano, and the Eagles defense, which is very good excellent. So what do they get now, Well, they got the Giant after the buye and I don't want to hear about the Giants Bills. That was like a weird spot.
Weird.
Giants defense is not great, Raiders defense mediocre. As long as you can bought Cosby they get to play Washington Texans. Falcons like these are just ok teen. So there's a big stake.
If this defense is going to listen, this defense by itself just beat the Eagles. This defense mostly by itself almost beat the Chiefs. So the dilemma is if we know Zach Wilson, he's playing about it as well, and the staff deserves credit. They've gotten him out of trouble spots. They really lean into Wilson, lean into Breeze, lean in the field, position. But if they won starting yesterday, if they won six of their next nine and Aaron could play, knowing he's not one hundred percent, there's a higher risk of re injury. I don't know if you're playing well because I everybody loves Aaron, but this is really you have save this traffic. He's not a franchise guy. But if Zach going forward is your backup for two more years, he's a very good backup.
I don't know.
I just think it's gonna it's not a crazy dilemma. When you look at what they've done to Kansas City in Philadelphia and the schedule eases, I don't think they're gonna go through. I think I think eventually defenses get hurt, they'll have to.
Well, they were playing without some guys. I'm just gonna say, you look at the AFC. We're only in mid October here. Does anyone honestly you can get to the playoffs? Does any team right now scare you right now in the AFC?
Well, I think Kansas City, if they made a move at the trade deadline to get a receiver, I think they're really good. And I do think they're young receivers Rashie Rice will get better. I think Kansas City just needs more reps. I think they're gonna look really good in six weeks. I think Cincinnati is gonna be better in five to six weeks. They you know what, they didn't play great yesterday and they won against a very good team.
I believe Orlando Brown on the left I'm not sure when exactly it was, but what their left tackle when he went out. I think the offense did like nothing. They did nothing in the second half against Seattle. The injuries yesterday are a huge story in the NFL. But I'm just saying Colin the AFC, I don't want to say it's wide open, but like I know you like the Jags a lot.
I'll tell you who I like yesterday, Baltimore come on.
But we'll see. You know, the offense is still finding its footing.
I don't know. I thought Lamar Lamar has been this year.
They put a half against Malik Willis. Well, that's not half our staff could stop Malik Willis on her drive.
I'm not even kidding.
Like he looked like he did not want to make a mistake, which is what zachtly.
A young quarterbacks look like.
That a lot.
You're down two scores.
You got to make something happen, and he's like holding the ball and just you know, I don't know AFC. All right, let's go to Anthony richardson Colin this stinkum. He's on IR with the shoulder injury and sounds like he's gonna have season ending shoulder surgery, damaged AC joint. I don't know what to say, man, this is the guy who was kind of exciting for the Colts. If you want a silver lining, perhaps, Hey, we're not gonna be.
Great, right, better draft pick.
We'll get a good draft pick, probably gonna be drafted top seven. There are a lot of needs on this team.
Well, they have good online and D line play. I don't think there are a ton of needs. I think they have the coach. Online D line play is good. I think they could use another receiver Jonathan Taylor's back, probably another corner, but the entire league could use another corner.
I think that.
I think their roster is better than people think. So I think their roster. You gotta think I'm crazy when I say this is I think we over now. I could be totally wrong tonight. I think we're over valuing the Cowboy roster and undervaluing the Colts and the Lions draw.
I largely agree. So how much of this game did you WT? Colts Jacks?
It's on the corner team, not focus.
Okay, I was invested in the Colts. I had them in the contest. I went too and two and I'm watching this and Colin I'm I'm I know this is I'd be popular. But the reality is the Colts offense moved the ball much better than the Jags. They the Jags came back from London and offensively were just like sleepwalking. They had no explosive plays. They were not stretching the fields. Colts one yardage by one hundred and twenty yards yards per play more. They moved the ball.
It's just that Gardner Minshew.
Kept making like horrendous mistakes and it wasn't even Jacksonville like making great defensive plays. Colin Minshew lost this and it was one of those where he's overthrown guys by like six yards and it's like, bro, what are you doing? Fumble atm scores on the next play, like, Colts aren't that far away? You're you could be right about this.
Rocks I like it.
I think again, I think they need to corner another receiver. But I think they're all line d line play. They got some guys oh no, no, Bruckner. All lines really good Butner, and now they're all lined with Jonathan Taylor back.
I think though behind early and then they stopped giving it to Mass and Taylor.
Not built to play from behind.
Minshew fifty pass attempts, Like, come on, we can't have that. Anyways, Let's go to the final story here, Colin. It is Yannis and Dame in the NBA. They were here in LA last night playing the Lakers in a preseason game that was on national television. I don't know why that is, but they looked. They looked decent together. Dave didn't shoot it particularly great. Afterward, they talked about playing again.
Yeah, I've never been disopened.
And the first of all, I've never seen anybody being double team from the first position of the game. He's a threat, like like coming down from half court. He's old be a threat, you know. And I've never played with a guy like that, And I hope I could.
Make the game.
I can make the game easy for him as much as he make it easier.
For the man of team having another guy out there that's just dominant, you know, like he can dominate a game and win you a game. First couple of players, and they blitzed me, you know, they trapped me. And the guy that I'm releasing the ball to is Yannis. So I'm just like, we can do all night.
Yeah No, And you know, everybody poo pood he didn't go to Miami. This is a better fit. Giannis is significantly better than and I love Jimmy Butler and Bam, but Dame needs to be the two in Miami. Dame's the one here, and that's not a knock on him. Yeah, he may be the one at the end of possessions and at the end of games. Dame maybe the one probably would be. But the truth is this is a better fit. They are a big, big team and Dame is a smaller player who can be a bit of a defensive liability. So and Jimmy Butler does not play a ton of games on the regular season, so Dame would have been out there with Bam. Well, that's that's a lot. Never forget Miami was a seven or eight.
Seed last year.
They were in the play in Yeah.
That's right. That's more Portland. So Jimmy's off, it's Damon Bam. Gianni's plays more games. He's better than Butler Bam. This is a All they need was a perimeter closer. They've got their you know, they've got their interior closer. Middleton's a mid mid range closer. They don't have a deep threat of Curry, so this thing's gonna work really well.
Can we just say, can we settle down about there blitzing me and I'm passing to Jannis, Like, bro, it was mostly the Lakers third string dude, Okay, Austin Reeves wasn't there, Like that needs to be said, Like Lebron did not play, Like, let I don't even know if Gabe Vincent suited up. So Dame, let's just chill.
Okay, Well, he's excited, get excited.
That's fine, but the perspective context that kind of stuff matters.
Hey, the Northwest is feeling pretty good about himself. Oh really, yeah, so Dame, their hat, you know, they were a little bruised when he laughed, and he's gonna have to demand it out. Well he could have demanded, yeah, kinda demanded trade me guy. Well, liked Portland. You just wanted to go by the way.
How was the weather this weekend?
A lot of rain? Literally perfect. Oh, it was classic Northwest hoodie weather. The game ended, fans poured on the field, and five minutes later it started raining. Oh. It was like the Skies waited for the game to end, in the fans to celebrate for three minutes, and then it started.
You had a hoodie in a raincoat? Did you have flow?
I didn't wear I wore a hoodie. Joel McHale, the comedian, the host guy, was next to me up there. We were just sitting talk hanging out with the roll. He's from the North. He used to play for the Huskies. He was a tight end for him. He's been Joel McHale. Yeah, he's big in person, He's like a big a Wow.
I was already tank top all weekend here in LA. It's like seventy eight.
You know what I like hoodie weather. I sitting there drinking, drinking beers and watching the Huskies Ducks college pounding beers.
In a hoodie.
It was a flexing in.
A tank top. I had more fun than you did. I guarantee it. Doubt it. Jay Mack with the news.

I think I like Penn State in that game. So two years before Andrew Luck was drafted number one, I sat on the air. Andrew Luck is going to be drafted number one, I said at the beginning of a sophomore year. At the end of his freshman year, I said, Trevor Lawrence is going to be number one. I said middle of last year, Caleb Williams is going to be number one. I know people live in the moment. Caleb Williams played poorly because he's running for his life. He's going to get drafted number one. Scouts are looking for talent and traits. Patrick Mahomes had a losing record. Josh Allen I watched him twice in college. He was putrid against Oregon and Iowa. People know that Caleb Williams is great. They also know that USC's got a bunch of transfers and only one NFL offensive line in front of him and no first, second or third round wide receiver. Talent and no elite tight end talent. USC's talent is a little overvalued. Kayleb. Williams is great now. J Mack was taking shots at him all weekend long on the X Stop. He said, worst half of Caleb's career by a mile. Maybe we should stop worrying about top of the draft. Looks totally unprepared for this awesome notre dame scheme, hesitant, unsure. Let me add this PAC twelve defenses are a joke. We know this. Williams has been so bad and clueless you have to worry about stacking stats against inferior PAC twelve jokers. Williams is a major talent. I'd still take him first, but this half opens up. So your take is what on Caleb Willims.
I mean, first of all, that's one hundred percent facts, right, Well, tell me what's the factual there? I mean, the Pack twelve defenses are a joker. Williams look lost, he looked ill prepared. You have to admit that he like he didn't know where the past rush is coming from. Scrambling into sacks just very out of character for him, Like, I don't know, I know, we're talking nil Caleb Williams all the time, and he's gonna go number one, but he doesn't want to go to Arizona or Chicago. He wants to go bro lock In for Notre Dame. Okay, it was an embarrassment. He looked awful. That being said, big picture, I still have him one. But I'm just saying this, Drake May just added a big time NFL receiver. This kid, Tesz Walker played his first game.
Yeah, he's like a four.
To four guys six y three, three touchdowns against Miami. And Drake May's putting the ball anywhere.
Well, a lot of people's kids, I know. No, I mean, I don't want to go overboard.
It feels a little like Drake May is in the Herbert class and Caleb Williams is in the Mahomes class, and that's what we're looking at at.
The top of this draft.
Yes, I think Drake May and Caleb are both a prospects. I think I think I saw Michael Penix and Bone Nicks this weekend. Bone Nicks is Derek Carr. Pennix is a bigger, stronger Tua. I think they're both. I think I think Knicks feels like a top of the second round pick. Penix feels like a mid to late first round pick. I liked both of them. I don't think either one is Drake may or Caleb Williams. I didn't love when Caleb painted his fingernails.
I didn't love that.
And I do think he goes a little into the weeds on accuracy from time to time. And I think it's a fair criticism that usc IS feels like they're so into the Heisman and so just get blocking schemes, right, I mean, now, I think it's a fair We've been on this for weeks. I kept saying usc is the third best team in this conference, and I'm not sure if Utah's always capable. Utah has been very good against sc But I went to the Oregon Washington game. Those teams are well coached, good foundations. They have flashy players, but aren't flashy program you think of Oregon of this flat Oregon is about defense and run game. The Oregon wasn't flashy at all. Oregon was trying to dominate guard center, guard the Huskies middle of the field and did for long stretches. So I think when I watched usc it it wasn't the worst thing in the world to watch them be humiliated, because I think they were really falling for themselves. They got all gassed up. Colorado feels the same way. Is that a lot of transfers, a lot of penalties, a lot of hype, a lot of headlines, not a lot of steak, mostly sizzle.
Is that fair?
That's one hundred percent fair? Do you remember Andrew Luck had a primetime game while at Stanford against USC and he threw a brutal pick six.
Yeah, and it was like, oh, this isn't the number one pick.
You know, people freak out.
Caleb's still won, but I think Drake Macon closed the gap, and I'm just this, let's just put this to bed. Caleb Williams is not staying at USC for nil money. Let's just end this non sense people are putting that up. There's no way he's gonna get killed behind that offensive line.
Colin, I was.
I texted you about this, like, I'm surprised they didn't pull him down twenty. He's taken some big time hits in the Yeah.
Well, the most disappointing thing for USC. Their defense played pretty well, but a lot of that is Notre Dame's offense is very pedestrian. I think the bigger issue is the old line has gotten worse, and that's on coaching. The players didn't just suddenly get worse. Maybe they were, to your point, overvalued against PAC twelve teams and weak teams, but I mean that game was they can't block, and they couldn't block Arizona's best athletes. USC cannot block elite athletic defenders against anybody. They couldn't block Arizona's. They certainly couldn't block Notre Dames. They're not blocking Oregon. In Washington's They're gonna get blown out by Oregon. Washington's gonna score a lot on them. I think they'll score a lot on Washington right now today, Oregon would house USC. They would oh yeah, oh yeah, that pass rush. Washington's got a first round left for second, they got an elite left tackle
