Colin tells you why he was right about Anthony Edwards and wrong about the Bears.
Plus, 3-time Pro Bowler Matt Hasselbeck joins the show to give his thoughts on where Shedeur landed and the Raiders selecting running back Ashton Jeanty.

Here we go, hour two. It is a Monday live in Los Angeles. It's The Herd. Wherever you may be and however you may be listening. Thanks for making us part of your day. Wild weekend. Shador Sanders drops in the draft. Matt Hasselbeck will be joining us here in about five minutes to talk about that. I did think the Seahawks had the best draft. I thought Cleveland did really well. Listen Cleveland in the Rams. Both got another first round pick for next year, which is a significantly stronger quarterback draft and Day both need him one for now. Cleveland needs a quarter back, which, by the way, Shadora Sanders has the second best odds according to DraftKings should be the starting quarterback, not Flaco. If you know how his number one odds Kenny Pickett. He's feeding out Kenny.
Pict don't bet that people.
By the way, I thought you were taking the first hour on the prank call much better than your NBA fouls tape.
But I have to ask you this.
I talked about it on my podcast, like, were you as a kid making prank calls? Everybody did, yes, yes, but you weren't ruining someone's like special moment like.
The prank calls we made.
There used to be a WWF wrestler who lived in our area, so we would prank call him at sleepovers and be like imitate Macho Man, Oh yeah, Macho Man and Rady Savage of Rick Flair. We would do that stuff. But it wasn't like like his NFL draft ball.
He wasn't going to like the wrestling hall.
By the way, it didn't ruin it because twenty minutes.
Later he had his mind know. But it was.
You had a good take on it. It's again we disagreemed it.
Some young kid did something really mean and really dumb, and that's what young twenty one year old as a parable.
By the way, how do you punish that kid? What's the punishment?
My punishment is get on the phone call immediately and apologize and let the nation. They're going to take shots at you and you have them all coming. I don't need to spank him. By the way, public humiliation is very powerful. I didn't grow up with Twitter, thank goodness. Yeah, Twitter's very powerful to make you feel bad about yourself. We have self esteem studies being done everywhere globally. People now are saying the best thing you can do as a parent. Psychologists are saying this, get him off social media. Yeah, so being crushed on social media, being publicly humiliated, and he was his punishment.
And by the way, how does the defensive coordinator leave his iPad around open with shadurd Sanders phone number on there when they drafted Michael Pennox last year. I'm not calling BS on that, but something feels a little fishy. No, do you leave your iPad open with the phone numbers executives you talked to?
I trust myke his you know? So?
All right?
Colin Wright Colin wrong on a Monday.
Here we go where Colin was right.
Aunt Edwards continues to be the best young player in the game. And I said this last week, not a GM in this league would take Jahn Morant over Aunt Edwards. Jaw got swept Okay, Ann Edwards is dominating fourth quarters, and three years ago Jahn Morant was the better player. Clearly, that is not close to the case. Ant takes on lebrawn and can play a rigorous, strong, physical, intimidating defensive game. Jaw can't. You are looking at, in my opinion, the best domestic player in the league right now at his age, certainly Aunt.
Edwards where Colin was raw.
I thought Sedor Sanders was the second best quarterback. I washedon college football to cam Ward and listen, he fell out. There's a lot of explanations for it. To complete seventy four versus one of your throws behind a terrible offensive line is impressive. But there's enough bad tape out there with him that it didn't blow people away. I do think he will win the starting job at some point next year. And don't listen to Jmac that is a tasty bat. Take Shador to eventually start for the Cleveland Browns. I was wrong. I would have taken him if I was Pittsburgh. I don't know what Pittsburgh's thinking. Must already have.
Aaron Rodgers where Colin was right.
You know, I don't like to pick on kids, but I was never a quin Ewers fan. I didn't get it. One year ago, people said he could be the first quarterback taken. I didn't buy it. I never had. I know he's a five star high school quarterback. I know he won a bunch of games with Texas. I don't see it he was the thirteenth quarterback taken. I just he had great protection at unbelievable wide receivers at Texas and made some incredibly big throws. But I never watched him during college football and thought that's a franchise quarterback, and he ended up being the thirteenth quarterback taken.
Where Colin was wrong, I thought the.
Jago Bears, We're gonna go heavy defense in the draft because they've spent so much money on offense. They said, nope, tight end, wide receiver, offensive tackle with their first three picks. I like the picks, but I mean, they have so much talent on offense. Colston Lovelin one of my favorite players. No excuses for Caleb Williams. Ben Johnson is clearly running the draft room because they are going free agency and drafting. Their best picks and pickups are offense. Where Colin was right, I said, for the last month. I think the Raiders are the perfect pick for Ashton genty because Geno Smith, historically, when he has a run game and can throw on play action, is actually a really good quarterback. You go look to his career on play action is one hundred and six passer rating. So now they've got their quarterback in Gino, a star tight end, a star running back, Colton Miller, a left tackle, and they went and picked up some running wide receivers. They also have Chip Kelly and Pete Carroll. I don't know how the Raiders are gonna do, but I thought this was the perfect pick. I loved everything. And at five to eight people say he's small. It is hard to get leverage on five eight running backs. Nobody bounces off more college defenders than Ashton gent where Colin was raw Boy did I miss on the Lakers series? I had the Lakers in five because I thought they were better offensively, but JJ Reddick has made it very clear he doesn't trust Jackson Hayes. Translation, we're gonna play small ball, and Minnesota's dominating the boards. They're more physical, they've got more rotational options. The Lakers are playing five dudes and Luca looked tired at the end. Lebron was tired at the end, and the Lakers have been outscored by six or more in every fourth quarter, and a lot of that is Minnesota is fresher.
Where Colin was right, I.
Thought the Pacers were gonna fly through the Bucks. The Dame injury thinks, But I just think Indiana's got more good players in their prime. I think Indiana's got the best talent in the league that nobody talks about. I really like the Pacers and I don't like the Bucks. And I've said this for three years. They're too Yanna's centric. And the big problem is that's okay. The nugget tri Jokic centric. But I trust Jokic at the free throw line rate late. I do not trust Yannis at the free throw line late so much like Shack, you didn't want him at the line even though he was dominant. So for me, it's time to blow up this roster. Where Colin was wrong. I had been told that a wide receiver t Mac from Arizona. A lot of people had cooled on him, but it only takes one and Carolina drafted him with the eighth pick. I thought some of The draft analysis on him was interesting. People theorized that Bryce Young is a smaller quarterback and therefore the long and lanky t mac is easier to see. Never thought about that. Probably true, but yeah, it takes one. I'd heard teams that cooled on him. Did he love football? Where can you use him? He's kind of a strider, doesn't get off the line good enough. I was wrong, And with that, eighteen years in the NFL, Mad Hasselbeck is joining us. You know, it's funny about quarterbacks. A year ago, everybody's like quin you Were's first round. Two years ago, Sam hell first round. So you get lied to a lot about this stuff. Things changed. I mean when when he dropped in the draft, shador standers, what was your immediate first and second take on that.
I was a little bit surprised, But there really weren't that many teams that were desperate for a quarterback.
I mean, obviously Tennessee.
You know there's something out there with Pittsburgh. The Giants were a player Pittsburgh, you know, wondering about the Aaron Rodgers thing. But like, once he fell, it was clear he was going to fall for you know, he could fall pretty far and there were some great quarterbacks, and for me, as a sixth round pick, pick one seven, I was kind of in my mind a little bit like crimea River. You know, there's some good players out there, Kyle McCord, Riley Leonard, will Howard. But I do think shed Or Sanders is a really good quarterback. I think he's talented. Clearly, his film was a lot better than I think maybe some of the interactions and some of the lead up to the draft, and that probably gave some people some pause.
Some teams that might have taken him chose to go elsewhere.
So I would put Travis Hunter on offense, mostly because I could target him twelve times and get him the ball, Whereas I'd rather do that than him used as a decoy chasing around quarterbacks and not be part of the play. So and I think he will be a prolific offensive player. But I do wonder on Tuesday or Wednesday during install and he's in the offensive meeting and not in the defensive meeting. Is that problematic?
Yeah?
I think there's like a lot of people don't understand how it works, like in a real work week for an NFL team. I mean, I could see a scout and like, oh man, this guy's awesome. He could play offense, he could play defense. But the reality of the process. You here coaches talk about process. Wednesday is all first and second down offensive defense. Do the exact same thing every day during the week. Thursday is all third down, third down and two minutes. Friday is red zone, short yardage, goal line. Saturday is kind of a walkthrough, mock game, situational, you know, hail Mary, end of game type situations. Obviously you play the game on Sunday. So really, I think this is gonna be a real challenge for the coaches and for the player. Playing the actual game is not the hard part, Like that's physically.
Not a big deal.
The preparation you spend all day studying the intricacies and tendencies on third down of your own playbook, of your opponent.
I just don't know how they're gonna do that.
They're gonna have to get creative, and the coaches are gonna have to be the ones to adjust.
I was really surprised the Bears the last two years in free agency have mostly gone offense, and last year in the draft, you know, better picks, they went offense. So I would theorize, Okay, they're gonna figure this defense out, and they went tight end, wide receiver, offensive tackle. I'm like, Ben Johnson is running the draft room. I think, did it surprise you? What did you make of that?
Well?
I think it's if you're a Bears fan, you're really excited to see that Ben Johnson and Ryan Poles are together. Like I think they're on the same page. That's not something you can say in Chicago for a long long time. But I think they're setting this up to find out if Caleb Williams is in fact Ben Johnson's guy. And you know, clearly he's got the ability, he's got the potential. We have not seen the execution on the field, so you know, obviously he goes out and gets his Sam Laporta type guy at tight end, he's got the wide receivers, he's building up front with the old line. He goes and gets Azzie Trapillo at an underrated second round pick. I think it's going to be all set up for Caleb to either be the guy or not be the guy going forward.
I love the draft. I really love what they did.
They did in Chicago, but now the press on the young quarterback.
I had said this earlier. I talked to an NFL executive on Friday after the show and he said, he goes, if Chador doesn't get drafted by like the thirty eighth pick, so six picks into the second round, he's being viewed as a backup, and some people aren't going They're not going to do that circus as a backup. He goes, keep your eye on mil Row. Everybody loves that kid, and he's not ready to play, so there'll be no pressure on the starter. So John Snyder to me is about as good as a personnel guy as the league has. I thought the Seahawks had the best draft, you know, the organization. Well, what do you make So I get taking Milroe over Shadur because Sam's starting for two years, let's not threaten him. What did you make of the pick? And what did you make of the Seahawks draft?
Yeah?
I agree with really everything that you're saying there. And you know, I just go back to even on the quarterback thing. I think I've told you before two coaches that came and sort of like worked me out when I was in college, where Sean Payton and Andy Reid neither one of.
Them worked me out.
Sean Payton took me to lunch, and Andy Reid hung out in a whiteboard meeting room with me and we talked. They both I think wanted to see if I was the kind of guy that they wanted in their quarterback room, that they wanted in their locker room. The person that I was like, it was I going to fit in their team? And I think what I've learned in eighteen years in the NFL is that humility is respected in the locker room. So I think, like when you're talking about a Jaylen Milroe as an example, he's everything you're looking for and a guy you're adding to your team, adding to your locker room, adding to your quarterback room. Your quarterback coach wants to coach a guy like that. You hear Mike McDonald talk about, Hey, he's special as a quarterback in the traditional sense, but when this guy like when things break down. As a defensive coordinator, my biggest fear as a decordinator play caller is when the guy has the ability to go do something with it. As a runner as well, certainly certainly is exceptional in that regard. So yeah, to your point, the Seahawks. They went and got their Steve Hutchinson type offensive lineman, no nonsense, versatile, you know, potential Hall of Famer type talent. And then you know, like obviously you know later on they replaced Gino with Milroe.
They add depth where they need to ad depth.
They get their Cam Chancellor in the second round, trying to rebuild that legion of boom, the Kyle Hamilton type guy that McDonald was using with Baltimore. I mean, they're in love with their draft right now, and I think Seahawk fans are as well.
Okay, I thought the Raiders asked in Genty. I thought he fit Chip Kelly. I thought he was what they need. I think Gino's always proven on play action. He's a more than capable NFL quarterback. I loved that pick. That's one of the few we called what did you make of it?
Yeah, we talked about it in March. I think you asked me the question what I think about it? And it's an identity pick. I think in that.
Division two, with the great quarterbacks and the great.
Offenses in that divisi and Pete Carroll views a great running game as an extension of the defense. He's got this formula in play calling. How many times do I run it? Plus how many times do I have a completion? And that's my formula. Ball security is another major factor. But like when you go back to who Pete Carroll was at SC with Lendell White and Reggie Bush and then who he was in Seattle with Marshawn Lynch.
This fits him exactly.
And I would even say that, you know, if you really study what Chip Kelly was last year as the play caller at Ohio State. This was a run first team and this was a be the hammer not the nail kind of a mindset that I think both coaches have perfect fit.
I am guessing that the Steelers have some sort of deal with Aaron Rodgers, and Aaron just said, I'll wait to see how the draft plays out, and if you don't draft a starter, I'll come aboard. Will Howard's a backup. Right now, I'm guessing because otherwise I don't know what Pittsburgh's doing at car What do you think they're doing with Aaron?
Yeah, I think you nailed it.
I mean, I have no insight info, But this whole time, when everyone's all this chatter, what's Aaron Rodgers waiting for You either want to be a Steeler or you don't. Guys, do you remember what happened last year? Kirk Cousins signed a huge deal to go to Atlanta and then they picked a quarterback like eighth overall or something like that. He's waiting for the draft. He doesn't want to be a lame duck quarterback. This is the perfect team for him. Pittsburgh's the perfect fit. He's waiting till after the draft. So you don't do something sort of foolish. Go get me more weapons, don't go draft my replacement. And that's essentially how I think the draft played out. They got a really talented quarterback in the sixth round and Will Howard that's not a threat.
He's more of a project.
Maybe have a guy that's like, hey, I really like this guy. I would like to sort of mentor this guy. I like what the Steelers did that way. And I do think there was a handshake agreement. Let's wait till after the draft and then we'll then we'll talk and get your pen out and.
We'll put this thing to paper for the record.
A team will go into camp with twelve linebackers, fourteen offensive linemen or more, but generally you don't have five quarterbacks. How do you How does Cleveland figure out? I mean, I think Chador is gonna win the job eventually, but it is a lot of snaps. Dylan Gabriel Kenny pick at Joe Flackel, how's that gonna work?
It doesn't honestly call it. It doesn't feel like a head coach GM draft pick.
For that reason. It feels like an ownership draft pick. It feels like.
You know they had a plan and then all of a sudden, someone who ranks higher than them said, hey, why don't we do this? And so something's got to change. There's not enough reps for three guys really, never mind five. So I wouldn't be surprised to see somebody get traded at some point.
That's just the nature of how it goes.
But I remember being my first year, I was the fourth string quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, and like I said, there's nothing to do. Essentially, they used me as a practice squad, tight ended practice.
So somebody's got to go.
Somebody's got to go, and that's an interesting dynamic in that room. Obviously, people will be talking about that one and watching it very closely.
By the way. Finally, the outpouring of affection to you on the passing of your father, I think speaks volumes about the Hasslebeck family and you in particular. I have met your father, I've met your family before, and I just think, I just we want to pass along how much we think of you. And it was it warmed my heart to see the outpouring of affection by the Internet towards your family. My man, you know, we think thanks calling.
Yeah, my dad was larger than life in a lot of ways, and I hope we honored him at his funeral.
He was.
He's a great man and.
Still in shock a little bit, but it's he'll be definitely missed.
All right.
Matt Hasselbeck one of the really good guys in our profession. Eighteen years in the NFL. That is interesting. They had Matt playing tight end and great so as he noted, it felt like an owner pick, not a coach gm pick. And that's what my friend John Middlecoff theorized. They took Dylan Gabriel around early just to get out of the shaduur stuff. But you know, the owner he liked Baker, who's a lot of personality. He like Johnny Manzel, a lot of personality. He wanted Deshaan Watson and you know owners now, I mean, listen, they get the final.
Say so, let me ask you the Dylan Gabriel stuff. He's from Hawaii. He as a quarterback. I believe he's five ten five and five ten and a half.
You know, is he gonna work in Cleveland? Again?
Look at his history? He played a UCF warm weather ish locale.
Didn't see him.
I don't.
I thought Cleveland had a great draft. I didn't get that pick. There were Seattle had a pick where they picked a full back in the fifth round. I didn't get that pick.
Wait, so do the Browns like Gabriel or were they saying let's let's just say no to Schador by taking a quarter That's right, So when did you say him? I had no disrespect to Gabriel, but I smelt a little major early.
Yeah, I again, I had I don't know. I didn't get You know, listen, it's hard to ace. I thought Seattle came as close to acing a draft as you can. I thought Cleveland had a great draft, but that one I didn't get.
But at the same time you talk about five guys in camp, who's a pro, who's coming in with earbuds, enter, an entourage and a video crew. It ain't Dylan Gabriel.
No, he And by the way, he's had a multitude of you know, he's bouncing three colleges. I think that's a little more mature. Perhaps I don't. Yeah, I mean, I I just but I don't see him maturity aside. I think Shador Sanders is a franchise quarterback. I do not think Dylan Gabriel. I think he's a third.
You think Joe Flacco would have signed there if he thought he was gonna be like the fourth string guy inactive.
My guess is flat. They have Kenny Pickett on Draft Kings winning. I think Flacco wins the job and Shaduur eventually passes.
What do you think think it is moved?
I'm just wow, that's what I think. I don't know what to tell you, but you can't keep four and five guys around. You can keep eight linebackers.
But the smart move would probably be right on the eve of camp to cut Deshaun Watson. That's the big story, not this four man competition.
Just move on. Take the cap hit get out of there.
I think your quarterback competition now is more than interesting.
It's gonna be the number one talking point Eddie in the camp right because they have shuer Well.
I don't know if it's a number, it's certainly with Cleveland.
What other quarterback issues are there around the league? What are their competitions are there?
I don't think there's any Maybe I think Jackson Dart's not gonna get it, but Rodnell Jackson.
Dart's going to be a story. I want to watch cam Ward. I'm excited that he's a starter. Yeah, he's started. No no, no, and he by the way, he is such a neat. I mean you see his interviews. I mean so I find these guys, some of these young guys are impossible not to root for. I mean, Kyle McCord sitting there crying when he embraces his dad going to Philadelphia. It's like, I already liked the kid, but it's impossible.
Way I saw Kyle McCord was maybe prank called. Let's several of these guys got prank called in. I think the tight End got prankd tight End, Tyler Warren as well. It's just like guys, come on.
Dude's listen. Everybody wants to be viral. RG three was quartered as saying that this morning, I saw everybody wants to be viral.
It's like.
One more heard. The Herd streams twenty four hours a day, seven days a week within the iHeartRadio app. Search Herd to listen live or on demand whenever you like a lot of stuff going on today. Rick Buker joining us next hour. NBA basketball, it's physical tastic. Don't listen to Jmax push people around.
I'm still not sure. Usually after four or five games, I know who the better team is. I still think the Clippers are better than the Nuggets. I still think that. I still think I'm crazy. Are the Warriors going to beat the Rockets?
We'll see Jimmy Butler TVD.
By the way, the Lakers in Game three and four, six of the eight quarters were better than Timberwolves. Yes they were. So I don't think that series is over. I know I'm in the minority.
Fourteen nothing run to start the third. I thought it was over. I thought, Okay, Austin Reeves woke up, We're ready to go. Yeah, but again, you asked Lebron and you're twenty two to play an entire second half because you're not playing until Wednesday's great.
In the fourth quarter, defensively had like a steel block steal consecutively.
That block on d has a great block.
Oh, I thought they came down Dorian Finney Smith after the block hit the three. Yeah, I thought the game was OK.
Two ninety seconds left.
I was like yes, And then Anthony Edwards did his thing.
J Mack with the news.
No, no, turn on the news.
This is the Herdline news. All right, the staff's are working overtime. They found a Buffalo Bill's moment from the draft weekend. It's phenomenal. So the Bills loaded up on defense first five picks. A local Bills radio station was unhappy that they didn't draft a receiver, and GM Brandon Bean had some thoughts on that.
Sounds like twenty eighteen all over with you guys, Well, we're very how so well you guys were pitching in twenty eighteenout Josh Allen. You guys wanted Josh Rosen, and now you guys are bitching that we don't have a receiver. I don't get it. No one scored more points than the Buffalo bills, including the Super Bowl champions. How is this group not better than last year's group, Like, I don't like our job is to score points and win games. Where do we need to get better defense? We did that, So I get it. You got to have a show, and you got to you got to have something to bitch about. But bitching about wide receiver is one of the dumbest arguments I've heard.
Well, love it, love it. Don't you love that combativeness?
Yeah?
Well, I mean when you're in a smaller market and you know, you see everybody in the grocery store, you know, guys get feisty. I mean, it's it. Buffalo football is the sanity. Yeah, bigger than wings, right, super Bowl? New York had a Super Bowl. I was at a New York Super Bowl. You couldn't tell they were having a super Bowl. There's so many things with the UN. You know, the UN they do that annually. The UN's in town like New York. You don't even know if there's a Super Bowl Buffalo. The game's the biggest thing on the calendar that week. So I thought their draft was fine.
I thought it was great.
Yeah, they draft very well. They always done with By the way, that Walker guy that the defensive tackle for Kentucky in the fourth round. I think he's had some injury stuff, but when he was healthy, he when he's playing well, he can be a game. Right.
So they basically went se Ohio State at fine, Like, come on, this is a good draft. And by the way, the Bill's defense was getting long in the tooths last couple of years. Remember the injuries of the linebackers secondary. So I like this draft from Buffalo. I'm on board Bills and winning the Super Bowl next year.
That's my I thought you had him this year.
I think I did. Yeah, but the.
Guy got robbed by the officials against Kansas City.
I will say this after looking at that Bears draft, No, here we go. What I mean, look at their offensive talent. It's incredible. So what do you There's Super Bowl? What do we got here? Playoff? You don't think so?
Look at the schedule of my friend. Take a glimpse of the opponents. It is brutal. Next story, Colin is back to the NBA. Oh look, another American dominating my man.
Jason Tatum sat out Game two with a wrist injury courtesy of the physical postseason basketball bounce back with a thirty seven piece yesterday in Game four after thirty six in Game three, Jason Tatum. How about the stat from our staff most thirty point.
Playoff games in the league since twenty twenty. Jason Tatum, Woe.
Luca Jokic, Aunt Edwards, whoever you want to name. Jason Tatum is the truth. I love this guy. And you know I don't like Boston.
By the way. I know you think I don't like him. But you asked me this week who was the domestic face of the league, and I said, who would I bet on? And I said, and that's a good because his personality, And then one A was Jason tATu. Now you asked me who the best domestic player was, and I said, and one Tatum, one A because I do think Ant can do some things physically that Tatum can't. Yeah, but I think they're both amazing player.
Excellent and Ant is showing out against the Lakers, which on a big stage, it.
Doesn't get much better than that.
It's been great in the You know the history of teams that win the title the next year they kind of struggle, right, We've seen a lot of those teams fall.
Out in the playoffs.
This Boston team does not look like it's going to have any trouble with the Knicks next round.
Right, they will give They will dispose of the Knicks in five. The only series that's really surprised me has been the Lakers. And I didn't think JJ Reddick would play five players only for an entire half. Like I was like, Wow, they're not playing Jackson Hayes at all.
Well, he's unplayable. Well, he's a foul machine.
He's not a high IQ player against dumb flagrance, dumb techs. He's just not a smart player. He's done in. I mean, he might as well get his passport to China. He's gonna be playing for one of those teams in China next year. He's not two f He's an NBA player.
Stop it.
Come on.
Final story, Collins to the NBA Warriors got that Game three win over the weekend. Jimmy Butler did not play, and they're optimistic he could return. According to the Athletic Butler worked out on the practice court ahead of Game three, and the medical team held him out to give him two more days with the belief he's going to be back for Game four.
I thought Golden State. Tim Goon didn't know what he was doing. Jalen Green pulled back like it was.
A by the way Jalen Green got into it with Draymond at the end. Another thing with the physical nature. I mean, I've got a list here going of all the coaches and players who were like, this is not the basketball that we've been playing all year.
Well, that's right, it's not. Thank god, thank god.
Finch, who sits on the couch, is a big fan of the show. He's complained about the officiating.
I don't think he's complaining now, Well, his team's beating the Lakers up.
I don't like that.
Jaylen Brown has complained, how about this? Steve Kerr howskarsel Biss how about this? And I think it has to be coaching to some degree. Julius Randall, you never trusted him in the playoffs. Ever, he has had a good series.
He's shooting forty five percent for threes and he's got twenty eight in his career in the playoffs. Throw he has shot the he looks like an All NBA play He does like he's tough to stop robbing. Julie Frandall.
I'm like usually because.
I think some of it is you have to pay so much attention to Aunt that he gets better looks. And they moved the ball, and Jade McDaniels is quake.
Daniels is really good. He's a good player.
NA read Laker's in trouble and remember Lakers.
And I don't know why you're smiling. This is bad for the show and Colin.
Great for the show.
Stop it. You will not open the show with Anthony Edwards.
I will four straight days, no ways, A favorite of Chris Finch, I will fine, fine, Okay, you're right, A forgot I think Minnesota is a good watch. By the way, Finch a plus off air, taking all my basketball questions.
He will take anything I ask him. I like the guy a lot, so I do.
And you don't have Are you pestering him mildly during the playoffs?
No, no, I'm not, no, no, no. When he comes here.
To the show, okay, okay, well it's a commercial break, he's he's a nice guy and willing to talk hoops.
Oh, he's a great guy and the staff's had a great series. Uh, Jay Mack with the news, Well.
That's the news, and thanks for stopping the herd line news.
Yeah. The thing that's interesting about the draft is that so much of what we talk about before the draft is it really seventy five percent of this for players is where quarterbacks is where you land. And so I'm trying to think, is Cleveland a great place for Shadur to land? Now here's the good news. I think Stefanski's a great coach. He's an offensive coach. He's good with pocket quarterbacks, so it's a great place. The second thing is the owner made the pick. That's the feeling. So the owner likes you, He's going to give you some leash here. He's gonna let you, he's gonna let you play, he's gonna push for you to play. And Shador is in this quarterback room, he's the most talented quarterback. So you can complain about Cleveland. But offensive coach, excellent draft. You're the most talented guy in a room of kind of past their prime or never their quarterbacks. There's worse play, and the owner picked you, so you know you're gonna get some tarmac here, You're gonna get some runway. So you could say, well, it's a beat. They're gonna move off. They're gonna move off. Quarterbacks, two of them immediately immediately. You know what I'm interested? How about this? What if Chadure is a great guy in camp. I suppose he would be, and then it plays well in the preseason and Flacco wins the job and Kenny Pickett, you know, back whatever. It's just gonna be interesting what happens if Shaduur is really good really quickly.
You know that the odds are probably high he's inactive for at least the first month of games. No way, no way, dude, he is so much you think so the Brown staff did not want anything to do with Shador.
That's pretty clear. We okay, so the staff did not.
Do you think they're gonna make him the backup quarterback so that the moment Kenny Pickett throws a pick six or Flacco has a bad game, Dion's out there said to be starting.
Do you think that's what they wanted?
I don't think, Dion.
Well, yeah, I see you took that back pretty quickly. Dian will say what.
I think Shadur is going to be noticeably better than everybody except Joe Flacco, And I think he's better than Joe Flacco. It's just that Flaco has seen so many reps that Flacco is going to be like, you know, he's gonna be like the principal among teachers, like he's just been. He's more experienced. But I think chadur is gonna pop Listen, whether you like him or not. He was the most underdrafted player in the draft. There's no way he should be going in the fifth round. That's why it might take is Pittsburgh has to have a deal with Aaron Ron.
Just doesn't this come to the market like the market was rejecting Shaduur Sanders Colin for a while.
Yeah, yeah, well, by the way, the NFL has every right to once. College football just did this with Nico Iamaliava. He goes, I'm not showing up the practice, and college football said, yeah, we're interesting.
UCLA two seconds later with yeah, please get over here.
Took a pay cut, fine, by the way, took a player cut. Stop the same the.
Door, taking like a four million dollar pay cut, being a fifth round pick from his nil money.
Nobody I think Seattle needed a quarterback.
The Raiders needed to back up well see an one, Well, they needed a backup. Nobody wanted should do or said that's the real. So you're saying underdrafted, but the reality is no, un wanted it.
Well, the NFL sent a message a little more humility, and they have every right to do that. This is not this is not a player run league, with very few exceptions, it is a It is a front office league, and I think they sent that message and they have every right too. They don't want to be baseball and have ten year contracts and they don't want to be the NBA player frame it like that.
People are like, oh, the NFL did collude. I don't think so.
No, no, No.
I think the five or six teams that wanted or that were in the market for a quarterback just didn't want anything to do with this.
Let me ask you this, this idea about colluding. If you lived on a cull to Sack with eight homes and it was like a quiet, respectful with a bunch of young kids, and all of a sudden a young party couple that stayed up all night and crank loud music moved into the neighborhood, would you have to collude? No, you would know everybody in the neighborhoods like, who are those jerks? You don't have to collude in life when everybody knows something that's obvious. Have you ever been in a room full of guys at a party and a beautiful woman walks in. You don't have to tell the guys that, Wow, what's that? Who's that? You don't have to collude stuff. The NFL is a league where it's humility before you're an employee matters to the league. They don't want to be a load management league. I love the NBA, but there is a different culture. I like baseball's having a great two year stretch here, but their culture is different. Ten year contracts. The umpire union in baseball feels like it's stronger than the player union in the NFL. So sports are different. If you're a bad actor, I'm not saying shud there would be, but if you're a bad actor in the NFL, you're out.
You're gone.
Deshaun Watson, We'll eat hundred million. That's not the way the NBA and baseball work.
So do you think, based on everything he's learned, chadur is going to show up to camp the same way he showed up to those meetings with the team, or do you think he's gonna no more this be legendary no and earbuds, and I say he's rocking out in me.
I mean, I think he's smart enough to learn his lesson. Nobody said he's a bad guy.
Nobody.
I've seen enough video in interviews with him. Seemed like a nice kid. And his reaction to the young man that pranked him, I thought was incredibly impressive. He could he could have been so upset and so crushed and could have fired back, and Shador Sanders said, Hey, everybody makes mistakes. It's okay.
That was That was good.
It was really impressive. So to me, I wish he would have been that before the draft.
But maybe he needed to learn this.
I mean, believe it or not, twenty three year olds aren't quite you know you were mature at twenty No, I was in embarrassment.

So look at the quarterbacks taking them were thirteen to just show you how weak of a quarterback draft it was. One will actually play a lot next year. Cam Ward he will start, But Jackson Dart is not gonna start. Okay, Russell Wilson will start. Russell Wilson will LEI better, Tyler shock Arizona, you know, Louisville to the Saints. I don't think he's gonna start. Well.
Wait, the Derek Carr stuff is interesting because he's talking about this shoulder injury and he's not rehabbing. He went on like some church stage over the weekend. I don't know what's going on with Derek Carr.
I think he's gonna be ready. I think there's a disagreement in the building. Oh but my take is Tyler Schuck will not start.
I would agree.
Yeah, mill Roe won't play, Gabriel won't play, Chadeur will eventually play, McCord's a total backup. So it's Howard, Leonard, Mertz, Miller, Rourke Queer's one starter and backups. And I mean some of these guys, like I don't see Dylan Gabriel as an NFL quarterback. You think I don't see Mertz as an NFL quarterback?
Everyone outside of Cam wod Will they have five starts next season total?
Yeah, schadur will have all five.
Well he better according to you, because I'm sorry, I can't believe Graham Mertz was drafted your guy, Riley Leonard six round of the Colts.
No, I mean the whole draft. Usually there's like three guys that are gonna start for sure and two that will compete. And you think, though, you got one starter, so that tells you a lot here. And but that's why, like I don't get Pittsburgh. I would have taken Shad Her Sanders. But here is Matt Hasselback on the Steelers, Aaron Rodgers their quarterback position.
All this chatter, what's Aaron Rodgers waiting for? You either want to be a Steeler or you don't. Guys, do you remember what happened last year? Kirk Cousins signed a huge yeal to go to Atlanta and then they picked a quarterback like eighth overall or something like that. He's waiting for the draft. He doesn't want to be a lame duck quarterback. This is the perfect team for him. Pittsburgh's the perfect fit. He's waiting till after the draft. So you don't do something sort of foolish. Go get me more weapons, don't go draft my replacement. I like what the Steelers did that way. And I do think there was a handshake agreement let's wait till after the draft and then well then we'll talk.
Yeah, we had said this is that. I don't think Aaron was in any hurry. And I think, you know, Aaron's the one guy in the league that nobody has any real contacts. Nobody really knows what he's doing is I mean, we people close to him thought he would be on that you know, McAfee Pittsburgh show. So you just don't know. But my guess is, you can't be taking defensive lineman in a division with Burrow and Lamar Jackson and in a conference with Mahomes and Allan if you're not taking it, if you do't a quarterback, and so Aaron with this defensive team pretty interesting. I don't think great, nine to ten wins, but much more interesting than I mean, Chdor would have been the most interesting, but they didn't love him. You know, here's the thing is, you got to what mel Kiper found out. There's a lot of misinformation before the draft. You start getting real information once the draft starts. Then stories start to develop and then things are explained. But I think Steelers Aaron Rodgers whenever Aaron wants to. You know, Aaron tends to do in the off season, do his own thing, so they may have an agreement that he's going to show up in July. I can see that Aaron works out by himself, maybe here in California, up in Thousand Oaks. But it's hard for me to believe you wouldn't draft shad Or unless you had some sort of plan. And I think coming on the heels of the Kirk Cousins situation, Aaron's like and we predicted this, we had said before the draft. Is I could see Aaron just saying, like, I'm not getting burned here. I got no interest getting burned. So that that's kind of the take. And the other take is that the Brown's front office that you could tell why their reaction did not want a draft shader, because you could tell by their reaction they drafted Dylan Gabriel hoping it would get them out of the quarterback situation. But Chadour is a much better pro prospect than Dylan Gabriel, not close, much better.
Yeah, I mean it comes down to fit ultimately. Con I don't know what the Browns saw on Gabriel.
Well, I think it is about fit. But Chaduur, I mean I want to watch. I have a hard time believing he is not a franchise quarterback, seventy four percent completion rate, running for his life. He's got some bad habits, but almost everybody not named Andrew Luck, Jaden Daniels comes into the league at quarterback with habits.
Kill Williams had a lot of bad habits.
Yeah, I mean, bo Nick, So it didn't matter if you have sixty college starts. There's things you have to refine. The coverage is better, the coverages are smarter, the schemes are tougher, the coaching is better.
All right.
