Colin tells you why he was right about Steph Curry and wrong about Aaron Rodgers.

Oh here we go. First hour flew by. That's what happens when you get in arguments, when my wife's mad at me, the time just flies by, which is often live in Los Angeles. It's the Herd wherever you may be, however you may be listening. Thanks for making us part of your day. So a lot of stuff happened in the NFL. It's official like Wednesday, the free agency, but you're gonna hear stuff drop. And as I said earlier, this is really the week in which you can grade front offices. A lot of people making moves that feel like desperation heaves and hail Mary's. And then you get the Devonte Adams move to the RAM, which feels smart to me because I trust the Rams culture and DeVante's probably got two really good years left. That's exactly how many Matt Stafford has, so we do it every Monday at this time. Where Colin was right, where Colin was wrong, plenty of both, And.
Here we go where Colin was right.
Well, Sam Darnold's not, despite the rumors and reports, going to be a Minnesota Viking as we predicted. He has a market. Seattle's the leader in the clubhouse. Pittsburgh also interested. Sam's only twenty eight years old and has not had a lot of injuries, and he's coming off a massive season. He can move, he's got a big arm, He's a playmaker. I think of all the quarterbacks on the market, he's the best version. And there were reports for three weeks the Vikings were interested. I didn't think that make any sense. I thought they were trying to do him as solid within the organization to show everybody, hey, Sam's great, we're considering re signing him. And I think in the end it never made a lot of sense. Where Colin was raw. Apparently Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers are talking. This doesn't work for me as a fit at all. First of all, Aaron's a California cool guy, and the Steelers culture is defense. It's super conservative. They can't get their offensive line right. I don't like that for Aaron. I mean, I'm sure he respects Mike Tomlin. I get that, but this is not how like if Aaron went to the Vikings and followed, you know, the farm trajectory, like that would make sense. Good left tackle, great receiver, good offensive coach, stability in the organization. I don't get Pittsburgh at all. I read this and I think it's.
That's a miss to me where Colin was right, Steph.
Curry now eleven and one when Jimmy Butler, I'm gonna give myself another right, I had said a month before the move, just sign him. Anytime Steph's had a legitimate one or two around him, the team is a Western Conference finals or at least competitive for it. Steph now is shooting forty two percent on threes since Jimmy Butler arrived, and to me, it feels like Jimmy Butler has been a B twelve shot in the hip for Steph Curry. Not like he just learned how to play. But when you're on a treadmill to a play in game for a superstar that's thirty seven years old, Nah, that's not it. This move is perfect top to bottom where Colin was raw. I don't think this is a bad move at all. But Geno Smith getting another big contract in the NFL surprised me. He was twenty first last couple of years in QBR, which isn't the be all end all. He you know, he throws a lot of picks and Pete Carroll doesn't like those. But where I will say it makes sense. He's an adult, he's accurate, he gets a lot of yards, and the Raiders have no stability at coaching quarterback. So Pete Carroll and Gino Smith, you know, suddenly feels sort of like Seattle. You can get your way into the playoffs. Tough division maybe, but it caught me off guard that Gino may get another three or four year, big money.
Deal where Colin was right.
Pay your great players early. The Bills signed Josh Allen, but they've moved off von Miller. I never got the von Miller deal. In fact, since he arrived, their defense actually got worse three straight seasons. He was injured a lot. I thought the Rams moved off him at the perfect time. He became sort of a pass rush specialist, which for what they were paying him doesn't make a lot of sense. I just my people around the league didn't think it was a good move. I didn't, and I mean they got some sacks out of it, and he's a big play guy, but for the money and the injuries, it never made sense.
Where Colin was rong, I.
Thought when the Mavericks made the Luca ad deal, I said, you know what, you can bang on the Mavericks, but short term they'll probably be better. I like the roster, yeah, but I'm wrong since the higher roster is hurt. PJ Washington, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, Derek Lively. They are now lost five straight. They are a mess. Everything's bad, the karma, the injuries. Watched them a little this weekend. Yeah, I thought for a year to two years you would kind of look and go. Did Dallas get the better part of this deal? No, not at all.
Where Colin was right.
I've said, when you get a gift in life, accept it. And I've been critical of the WNBA because they got Caitlin Clark there, Steph Curry and they're fighting it. They did it again this weekend where apparently top players want to go on strike. Angel Reeese we should go on strike. The league's never made a profit, it's been subsidized by the NBA. This has been my knock on the WNBA. It's a league that was growing, and then Caitlin Clark was that once in a generation jet fuel like a Michael Jordan, a Steph Curry Lebron. You just don't get those. When you get a gift like Tiger Woods to the PGA Tour, you put your arm around it, you put them on TV. You understand that it's generational, a complete outlier. And what is the WNBA done complain about it? Strike? You go on strike when you have massive leverage. The league doesn't turn a profit, it's paid for by the NBA. This league just can't commissioner down, can't get it right, can't get it right. And it's too bad because the quality of plate today and the WNBA much better than eight to ten years ago, much better with that. Matt Hasselback eighteen years in the NFL, ten of those in the Seahawks joins us. You know, I said Matt that not all acquisitions are the same, like star receiver, do you fit? What's the quarterback? Like I think DeVante Adam on the Matt Stafford timeline for a really smart offensive organization and kind of a one year deal works. You may disagree with DK metcalf five year deal to an organization that doesn't have a quarterback, can't get the O line right. It's kind of tone deaf offensively. That feels like a little bit of a Hail Mary to me, like, Okay, we'll solve our offensive problems. Here's another receiver that wants the ball. Do you like DK Metcalf for the Steelers?
I kind of do, Colin, because I do think that it solves some of their problems in a roundabout way. You know, a lot of times in free agency or at the draft, like beauty's in the in the eye of the beholder, and Mike Tomlin sees something in DK Metcalf that he's like, that's what I need. That fits exactly the kind of guy I need, the competitor, the physicality, like all that kind of stuff.
And they've missed on the quarterback.
They haven't had high level quarterback play in a while, and they've had a struggle with running the football. I think that they believe that this will help them get rid of those problems.
They will all of a sudden be very very attractive to a quarterback who wants to come play there.
And if you have the weapons that they have on the outside, plus the tight end, I think they're going to do a much better job of having the light box to run the ball. So very similar to what Arthur Smith had when he had aj Brown back when he was the offensive coordinator in Tennessee. They had him and it sort of opened things up for Derrick Henry in the run game just a little bit more than it otherwise would have.
I thought time had played out Gino and Seattle, but I like it for the Raiders because they just need stability in a grown up and an adult What did you make a Gino following Pete Carroll to the Raiders.
I was a little surprised that Seattle and Gino couldn't figure something out, you know. I think I think they probably offered him something like Stafford money, old Stafford money, and he wanted something maybe more like Dak money, And like that's just like the the you know, when it gets in these negotiating sometimes feelings get hurt. And I think feelings got hurt, maybe even last year when guys like Jordan Love to get new deals into UH and Trevor Lawrence and like, hey, when's my deal?
When's my deal?
But the Seahawks don't do deals with guys until they're in that last year of the contract. And so then on the side here you got his his guy, Pete Carroll coming to Las Vegas with a smile on his face, loving him up. You're the man, you're the man, I'll give you that same contract. And then after a little bit, I think he's probably as the player. It kind of gets in this mode like, well, why don't I go somewhere that loves me, even if the money's maybe not even the same, or if it is the same. Yeah, And for that reason, I think you've seen a lot of change in Seattle.
So where are the Seahawks at that enough Seahawks fans may be freaking out. I think they looked around the room and thought, we just don't feel like Gino can get us to the next level. Seattle's got a much better culture roster right now, in my opinion than the Raiders. What are the Seahawks doing right now? Where are they at?
I think the like everybody at a price, but listen, I just think this is Mike McDonald's team. You know, they got rid of Ryan Grubb, they got rid of DK Geno Smith, Tyler Lockett moves on. He's a cap casualty, which probably paying them. I know they love Tyler Lockett. But they're going from sort of like this pass happy, we can throw it, throw the ball vertical down the field to a Mike McDonald feels like a harball harball type thing.
We're gonna have the top ten defense.
We're gonna figure it out on offense in terms of like run the ball first. And if think if you look at the trends around the league and Mike McDonald he's you know, people think of him as this like young defensive version of a Sean McVay.
He's looking at the trends.
The best teams are the teams that can run the football, and that's sort of the identity great defense, run the football.
That's his vision for the program.
Not necessarily four wides all the time, and uh, you know, how vertical can we be in the passing game? And I think you've seen a switch in that in terms of what they're doing in free agency, who they hired as they're offen it's a coordinator, and I think it's kind of exciting to see what's next.
So the Niners. A story came out that the Niners that leaked out are going to be much more hard line on contracts, much more like the Rams, and I agree. I think they've been too permissive. You know, the saying I always use is ice cream for breakfast, Dad like, okay, whatever, we'll give you the money. And I think the Rams have been better run that way. I think they have more leverage with brock Perty than anybody's acknowledging. What do you make of the purty Niner negotiations?
Yeah, I agree with you one hundred percent. And breakfast for dinner is a bad idea. Sorry, sorry, dessert for breakfast is a bad idea, but breakfast for dinner is a great idea.
Truth.
Yeah, listen, I think brock Perty in the Niners will get something worked out. There's a lot of reasons why I feel that way. First of all, I think he's a great player. I don't think he gets a lot of credit that he deserves. But he's also a guy that's never been paid, and when you've never been paid, like I think he's made like two point.
Something in his career.
By contrast, Kenny Picketts made like eleven point something in his career. So, like, you have a guy that has never really been paid quote unquote as a quarterback, he's more likely to do a deal that's I don't want to say hometown discount, but like, hey, let's just get a deal. I don't have as much leverage, but this is their guy, Like, this is the Niners guy. The Niners believe in him, but they also know that if he were to sort of test the market, they like him more than other people like him and so like, so that's why you hear these other names out there, Like I really just think that they'll figure it out and it'll just be a deal that's sort of I think maybe you would say win win, but you also might come out of it feeling like, well, Rock Perdy probably could have squeezed them for a little bit more, but he didn't. And ultimately, I think you've seen over the you know, guys like Tom Brady in their career, it actually works out better for the team that way, when the money spread out just a little bit more.
Go to your last couple of years in the league. I don't like Aaron to the Steelers, although dk metcalf in your opinion, probably makes it better. I think he could work in Seattle if the number's right, I could think San Francisco at brock perty said I want forty eight million. I would have no problem go with Aaron Rodgers. Where do you what do you think his mind is? Older? Quarterback, got his money, God, his trophy. Where's Aaron at right now?
I would think he'd want to be on a great team, you know, and you want to be on a team that's relevant at the end, that has weapons that can protect me, but that also has weapons and a coaching staff that I like, that I trust, and I'm almost intrigued to go play with them.
I'm excited to go to work.
You know, I think the I would I would expect Sam Donald in Seattle, but I think with Aaron, I would not discount the relationship and the history that GM John Schneider has with Aaron Rodgers, you know, back in the day in Green Bay John Schneider and Aaron Rodgers.
That would make sense.
But after they make a strong run at someone like Sam Donald Pittsburgh, you know, I think sometimes later in a quarterback's career, when they maybe have humbled themselves a little bit. They say, Okay, you know what, I can go to that point guard role I can be I think what he was supposed to be in New York with the Jets. Maybe that could work this time around with Mike Tomlin, with Arthur Smith, with these incredible wide receivers that they now have a great tight end, And like, maybe it's a run first offense and Aaron brings his intangibles and his leadership and his experience to the party. That's an interesting one, but I think that's also one that would would be a plan B.
I would think, Okay, well, finally I want to talk Chicago Bears for a second. So last year, the entire talk was, oh, wide receiver, wide receiver. This year they get a new coach from Detroit, which not so coincidentally has a great O line. They go get guard, center guard. They went and just got the guard from the Atlanta Falcons. And my take is, this is what a couple of years ago Andy Reid did Toney from the Patriots. This is what Sean mcvagh did Dotson from the Steelers. I actually love except for Ryan Poles. Basically, the new coach is saying yeah, you missed on all your interior linement picks. Love what the Bears are doing, but I don't think it makes headlines. What say you?
Yeah, Well, the number one thing I think in Chicago is that Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson are aligned philosophically.
That's that's number one.
And I think philosophically you're seeing Ben Johnson come in with that Detroit Lions playbook, and you know, like basically, we're gonna build it inside out.
We're gonna set the foundation up front.
And I've said many times like if you have pass protection as a quarterback, you can take good quarterbacks and make them look great if you just have pass protection, and then the opposite is true, and so like I just I really think they have to figure out the sack situation in Chicago.
I was pretty blunt with you all year.
I thought a lot of those sacks didn't fall in the offensive line. But those things snowball, And so I think they hit the reset button and they're gonna go with veterans upfront who are going to do their job, and then they're going to probably coach the quarterback hard. And I think that's sort of like the vision and the game plan. But all you got to look to is that in the division. Look at Detroit, how they built it, how they did it. That's what I think you're seeing out of Chicago right now.
Matt Hassel back in a Monday Great seeing you, Bozzoa's thanks Coln Siah, you bet, yeah, a little update on stuff. So he and I agree, h huh. Jay Mack on Brock Purty, there is a reason stories get out. People see a stories out. Why why did it get out? It has been leaked to the media in the Bay Area. We are taking a harder line on contracts. Translation, we're talking to Sam Darnold and Aaron Rodgers. You're not getting fifty million Brock. You're not getting it, nor should he, nor should he. So they're taking a hard line on Brock party. This is the difference between the Rams and the Niners. The Rams went to Stafford. It's like, here's the number when in culture, go ahead, go to the Giants and staff like, I love Los Angeles, and the Niners are like, they're not gonna cave to Brock. Perty.
Let's spin this forward. Let's just say hypothetically, Darnald or Rodgers takes Purty spot because he got too greedy. What's the market then for brock Purty Colin around the league?
Not much.
I don't think he's going to Seattle Pittsburgh.
Not at forty five million. I don't think that. I think it's incredibly small. Jets, Hey, you throwed to Garrett Wilson. I mean you had this guy as the next Josh Allen.
He was awesome when he was healthy and the team was healthy. He was excellent. That's undeniable.
But now put me in a maserati. I look pretty cool too.
Here we go.
Yeah, I don't. I can't afford one. By the way, the Steelers just lost their left tackle. Yeah, left tackle, starting left tackle, Dan Moore. See, you don't have a quarterback now, don't have a left tackle, and their old line is not good to begin with. Why because they signed DK Metcalf be your deal.
I think that kin Law if you look it on the screen, I think that kin Law deal is a massive overpay by Washington. He was on the Jets last year. I watched him closely. He's underperformed his first round pick. But they needed a defensive tackle. Yes, they couldn't stop the run.
I'll just tell you this I'm gonna give you a little credit. This is not like a long segment. Keep your eye in Tennessee. If they get cam Ward, that's a good get for Tennessee. Dan Moore is a starting left tackle. Yeah, Steelers don't have.
One, by the way, I know we don't like the deal in tinfoil hat stuff. But you follow Daniel Jeremiah on social Media's excellent, He's excellent. He put out this big tease yesterday. The Carolina Panthers are going to be interesting today. That's the team to watch. I don't know who the player is. Some people think maybe there's a Hail Mary for Michael Parson, some trade they I don't know, but Carolina Panthers are a team to monitor right now. In free agency. They got money. My buddy was at the Clippers game last night with Bryce Young.
We got We're gonna bring Bryce Young on the show.
He's coming on excellent.
Yeah, well I got to get my day. He's the guest booker. We gotta get him on it because Bryce a nice.
Kid, very nice. I've heard good things.
Yeah, really good kid. All right, we got stuff here. This show is I told you when the show started. It's one of my favorite weeks of the year. This is one of my favorite weeks of the year. Hey there, Steelers got another receiver who wants the ball. But you know, left tackle just walked out the door and not very good. So Tennessee is like, hey, that tells me we're drafting cam Ward. We're getting a left tackle to make sure Cam's okay. I think I think you and I are you like Tennessee to be the shock team in the league. I don't think you're wrong on this. I like New England, but I'm starting to buy into your Tennessee stuff.
Who was the receiver? I think I saw Houston grabbed a receiver because Tank Dell just had another surgery. He can't stay healthy. Ye Digs, it doesn't sound like he's coming back there. I know they have Collins who's a stud, but Houston, they really were not as good.
Christian Kirk, Christian Kirk is the guy these He's quiet. He's a number two, but he's quiet. Can return kick M A three.
I don't know.
He may be li maybe a three, but he's a good three. He's he's a grown up. He just goes out performed us.
Woah.
He was pretty good.
In Jacksonville for like eight minutes.
Boy, you know somebody's out here with glass half full? Yeah?
One more heard. The Herd streams twenty four hours a day, seven days a week within the iHeartRadio app, Search Herd to listen live or on demand whenever you like.
So A Miles Garrett of Cleveland just signed one hundred and twenty three year, twenty one hundred and twenty three million, forty million annually deal and people are kind of freaking out to no trade clause. So people kind of freaking out. How can you pay that? And my take is in a division with Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson, you paying top of the market for the best pass rusher in football. I'm good with. Also, Kevin Stefanski won eleven games twice for this organization. So you got the you got the head coach right, and the great pass rusher right. Those are two of the four boxes I can about. You're just bad at quarterback. If you could get that right in the draft, you're on your way. I mean, they were number three in total defense the last four years, spearheaded by Miles Garrett. They won eleven games two years ago and their quarterbacks were p j Walker, Joe Flacco, Dorian Thompson, Robinson, and Deshaun Watson and they won eleven games in that division. You got the coach, right, the numbers tell you got the defense and the edge rusher. Right, there are three positions in this sport. I'm just gonna pay whatever it is if you have the best guy in the league quarterback, left tackle, pass rusher. Whatever the market bears, I'm gonna pay it. And I had no problem with Miles Garrett saying get me out of here. And sometimes money talks, you know. I mean, these guys buy homes, their kids are in school, they have a life in the city. Most don't want to move. I mean Nick Fulton doesn't want a move. He wants to be with the Chiefs. Chris Godwin didn't want to move. He wants to be with the Bucks. Stafford didn't want to move. It's la It's seventy two degrees every day. So most of these guys don't want to leave. The most Americans don't want to leave. So I'm gonna defend Cleveland on this. If let's say they take either get cam Warder Shadoor Standers and they're good starters, which by the way, they need because of that ridiculous Deshaun Watson deal. They need a rookie quarterback on a rookie deal for four years, just like Denver. Denver was in cap hell, they hit on bow Nicks. You're still got cap issues. But it helps a lot. So you got the coach. I'll pay whatever it takes for three positions. That's one of them. I rarely defend the Cleveland Browns, but in this spot, I'll pay for it. Jmack with a.
News no, no, turn on the news. This is the herd line news.
Why don't we stay in that division and go with the Bengals column. The Cincinnati Bengals still in negotiations with Jamar Chase on a long term deal. A couple of weeks ago, their director of player Personnel Duke Tobin told the media that Chase will end up being the number one highest paid non quarterback in the league. Right He said that a couple of weeks ago. Well, now that Miles Garrett has become that overtaking Max Crosby, the price keeps going up. Colin, the Bengals continue to butcher this so badly.
Yeah, I I really like Jamar Chase a lot. You're getting into a spot again. I will defend quarterback left tackling pass rusher because they're not really different players in a snowstorm, like like I mean, Matt Stafford in the snow in Philly was really really good. Miles Garrett in the Stone gonna be good. Wide receivers worry me in the snow can't get their traction. You're not gonna throw the ball downfield when it's windy, you know. I think Jamar Chase is great. I also think they're going to be top of the market at quarterback in two receivers, which is it's tough now one of them's a franchise tag. But I mean, listen, the smart organizations get the super stars signed really early, and the cheap ones wait and wait and wait and wait, and it almost always costome.
Which brings a lot of people to mention Miles not Miles Garrett, but Michael Parsons ride. The cowboys are dragging their feet. You want to keep the guy, just pay them. What are you waiting for? I don't know, Colin, it's some of these teams, I mean, unbelievable. Next story, let's go to another wide receiver, the Seahawks traded for DK Metcalf. That's under that five year, one hundred and fifty million dollar extension. Well, of course, Pittsburgh legend Ben Roethlisberger has chimed in and he's very excited about DK Metcalf.
Coach T are you kidding me? DK Metcalf on one side, GP on the other.
Move work in the middle.
I mighty throw my hat in the ring.
Man, you lost your left tackle, so and you don't have a quarterback. Actually, him throwing his hat in the ring wouldn't be a terrible idea.
Yeah, I would. I would place a little wager on Pickens not being on the team. I think he's gonna probably get traded.
All right, that's my guess.
He's a headache. You just you got to move off of them. Yeah, and picking back Calf has been a bit of a headache at times.
Not like Pickets, Well, yeah, I mean Dcalf. Since he came into the league. I think he's the most penalized wide receiver.
I think I saw stat simulard of that. Also, regarding the Steelers, Justin Fields apparently will not sign with Pittsburgh unless they commit to him as the number one quarterback.
I don't blame him. I would want to be the number one quarterback too.
I don't blame Jobobby, Like, come on over, you could be our number one, and he's like, yo, you got.
Don't you think a lot of this quarterback talk, Darnold Aaron Justin Fields, don't you think a lot of it's just making it public? Why is it all leaking? Because they want those quarterbacks and their agents to see this, the brock Purty thing. The Niners want that out there. We're not paying you fifty and I agree with the Niners. So all this stuff gets out when somebody wants it out. All this quarterback stuff, what a shocker today, it's all getting out.
You know.
The weird part is Russell Wilson is great at throwing that deep ball down the sideline to pickets. So they got Metcalf who does the same thing. That's what they're moving on from Russell Wilson. I don't get it, Colin. Something's going on with the Steelers. It doesn't look good. Final story is uh oh yeah. Kirk Cousins another quarterback. We barely mentioned this guy, Special k Kirk Cousins dancing machine. He's still in the Falcons. Technically now. He met with owner Arthur Blank last week and told him he'd like to be moved to a team where he could be the starter. Another report indicates despite the meeting, Atlanta will do what's best for the organization and they don't plan to release Kirk Cousins. He's in year two of that four year, one hundred and eighty million dollar deal. They've announced Pennix will be the starter. Listen, we can go back to your take after this happened. You love drafting Pennix on the heels of Cousins, Right.
Yes, I thought he was and I said this before. He's the starter. He'll win the division year one, year two, it's Pennis now. He was very good until about Thanksgiving and then an unravel But yeah, I don't. I don't think Kirk has a huge market.
No, no, release him. He's gonna have a market.
Do you think so?
Because he'll play for the vet minimum and the Falcons will eat his contract.
No.
I think I would take Kirk Cousins on the veteran minimum, wouldn't you?
Yeah, on the veteran minimum.
Well, Wilson got Pittsburgh to the playoffs.
Yeah, yeah, No, I I he has a market. I mean, all these guys have a market. There's seven teams that are desperate for a quarterback.
But I don't think anybody's trading for Kirkcusins.
I'll tell you if you had to give out grades, I mean that's early, it's not even official yet. If you had to give out grades for free agency, I have one A plus.
Wait, wait, let me guess Bears. Yeah, it's been good so far. A plus is a little rich from any Huh.
Hey, Chicago Bears. When's the last time we said that Chicago Bears highest grade in the class. I mean they've been having to stay after school for years to get just to get to the graduate.
I don't even know who else to be in their class. It's still early.
I think Devonte Adams to the Rams a good fit.
How much is he adjusting impacting wins?
Uh? He's going to have Puka Nakua. Now who's the number one? Puka or Davante? Maybe you put Davante in the slot. So how many teams in the NFL have two good corners.
They're probably the best wide receiver duo in the NFC.
I know AJ Brown and DeVante.
DeVante Smith are right there. But Pukah and DeVante.
Look at the Rams. They're paying nobody on defense. All the Rams money, smartly is on offense, all their deep Now they'll pay Jared Verse in about two years, and they'll pay him early. Don't be shocked if they don't go, you know, a year before he's up. They'll they'll pay Jared Verse early.
Are you thinking offensive line or tight end? To really both? To the offensive they need a corner.
The Rams need a corner, and they do need an offensive tackle for the future. But when they re sign their left tackle and they have a right tackle, they don't They don't have to address tackle urgently until next year. Corner corner is a big deal for them. Interior line and a tight end. They could use another tight end.
I think the kid loved him from Michigan fits perfect there because the tight end they have Higbee, he's always hurt.
He's good, but he's hurt good.
But yeah, this offense, Kyron Williams Adams Hooka LA is going to be the place to be this fall for Football Chargers.
En Ron.
J. Mack of the News, Well, that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the.
Herd Line News.
I watched that Celtics Lakers game. I haven't talked about it because it was Saturday, but it was very, very predictable. Is once you heard Ruey's out and Jackson Hayes's out, which is a lot of length, and the Lakers schedule. You know, Lebron getting on a plane and going five and a half hours. I don't care if they eat nice sandwiches and get smooth. He's on a team plane. They had about a they had about an hour of gas, and in the second half, the Lakers were done and and Lebron just said, hey, Dad, he's taking a break. Tweak the growing I'm out. But I didn't think I said before, I think Boston and Cleveland are the best teams in the league. I think Oklahoma City feels like Cleveland last year, where they're really good. They need another year of seasoning before they can go on the road. Now that doesn't mean they can't win the West, but I think it's pretty clear when you watch Boston is and yes, Jason Tatum had a very good game. He has a lot of very good games. He's still not face of the league material. I think Boston, and I think people in Boston know you don't have to watch this league too long to face. Like Boston against Okac, I would take Boston eight out of ten times in a series Boston Cleveland, I take Boston six six and a half out of ten times. Cleveland's now got they got a little they got a little age. They've aged a couple of years, so you know, closer to the vintage. But you know that Laker loss was predictable. And when you don't have length against the se you have to have everything healthy for the Celtics. You're not beating the South when you lose Ruy and Jackson Hayes. And because I still don't think Lucas playing that well, he was awful in the first half of that game, like he was a no show. Live in La, It's the Herd.

He's a women's tournament. Finally, as Lauren Jensen hates Creighton against eight Buckers and top seeded yukon IT seven B and Eastern Radio on FS one game, so it's interesting.
The Lions lose Carlton Davis. He got three years, sixty million in New England. He's good for them. He's not their best corner, but he's a starting corner. Meanwhile, the Lions get DJ Reid from the Jets three years, forty eight million. So it's a prime example. The Lions, who I loved their front office, went out and got a position they've kind of struggled within the draft DJ Reid, so they've struggled at corner. So again I love the Lions front office. They're like, listen, this is a position, and we have not drafted brilliantly. You know, we've done the O line, great running back, wide receiver. There's a lot of areas that the Lions have drafted brilliantly. It's kind of scuffed a little bit at corner, which is a hard position to draft, right, you just don't know. So they go out and get DJ Reid, who to me is a number one corner in the NFL now with the Jets and Sauce Gardner, he's a two right because Sauce is so gifted. But I think DJ read to me, feels like a number one corner or a really great two. So I like that move. A lot. They also picked up Patriots picked up Carlton Davis. He'll be their number two corner. Morgan Moses, who was a Jets tackle. He'll probably be their right tackle in New England. Again, he's fine. But you're seeing a lot of moves. You know, here's the one that's interesting. The Cowboys. There's a headline today do you pay or trade Michael Parsons? So I said this, I've been saying this for three months. I would have traded Michael Parsons. I like him. He's very good. He's not great. He's not Miles Garrett. He's not Aiden Hutchison. He's not he's not TJ. Watt's very good. I like his podcast. I like him. He's very good. I think when it comes to great players, Josh Allen, pay him early. Pay Josh Allen early, pay Jamar Chase two years ago, Pai Jamar Chase two years ago. Justin Jefferson, pay him good players. I'd be a little more patient. And JJ Watt had a tweet today where he said it just if you don't sign your best players, it creates unnecessary tension, and the longer you wait, the higher the price. And the Cowboys feel like they're always paying surge pricing at Uber. They waited too long on DAK. They paid him an eight plus contract. He's a BB plus quarterback. I think Ceedee Lamb should be paid a lot of money. I think he got paid top of the market, not probably where I'd want to go, but he is on for the Cowboys. A very very good player, good and big games, good player. Micah Parsons, i'd move. But now because the Cowboys have waited and Miles Garrett got four million, well Mike is probably going to get around that, and that's a big number. So they're top of the market on DAK, top of the market on CD, top of the market on Michael Parsons. So they're bringing the band back together. But the band's gotten booed off the stage the last couple of years, so it doesn't feel the same. So Josh Allen, by the way, he got a big contract over the weekend. I would keep paying Josh Allen early and reworking that puppy over and over. He's in his prime. He's the best athlete playing quarterback. Big strong, moves arm to a whole different ballgame. So I've said this about the Cowboys. The Cowboys feel out of touch, you know what I mean, They've they've sort of lost their fastball. And by the way, this was not always the case. It feels very Al davis late years of the Raiders. There was a time that the Raiders drafted brilliantly when Al Davis was young. The older Al Davis got the worst the Raiders got it drafting. And I would say this with the Cowboys. They built the best offensive line in football. They were like the Detroit Lions a few years ago. They were good at back, offensive line, they had playmakers Dez Bryant. I mean, there was a time you looked at Dallas and they were like maybe underrated. They were really, really well built. Jerry should have stepped aside years ago. Too many family members in the building, and they just feel like they've lost their fastballs. So they're gonna be paying probably Mike at top of the market. I still contend in a week draft you could get a number. You get a first round pick for Micah, maybe a first and a fourth, a first and a third. I mean, let's be honest. You take TJ. Watt out, Miles Garrett out, maybe Aiden Hutcheson out, Hendrickson and Mike are fairly similar Max Crosby and Micah. I like Crosby more than Micah, but it's close. We could argue about that. But you know, this is Dallas and today again. If you start looking around at kind of what's happening to me, the smart teams have either re signed their players, like I think what New England's doing is interesting. New England's got a ton of tap space. They're not going for superstars. They're getting a number two tight end. They're getting a right tackle the Patriots are getting. I mean, look what the Patriots are doing Carlton Davis three years, sixty million for a number two corner. Morgan Moses, you're gonna pay him, you know, twenty eight lards to be a right tackle. He's passed his prime. I think Vrabel's a really smart guy. Let's just go fill gaps. We don't want to be terrible anywhere, and right now currently we're kind of bad at tight end. Outside of Hunter Henry, we don't have a lot there. So I think you can't in college football. You can win a national championship and have holes. The coaching's not good enough to pick on it. But I think also by the way the Patricks have already signed one hundred and sixty five million. They went and got Harold Landry, Robert Spelane. But the numbers aren't outrageous. They're getting starters, they're not getting stars. So free agent, you're it's a little used karlaw. You got people that are a little older, they've had injuries. Maybe there's a reason they're on the market. That's fine. There's nothing wrong with the free agent market. Don't be silly. I'll take you the one to look at Sean Payton. There's a story out today the Broncos want Hufunga, the very good safety, been a little banged up in college in the pro. But keep your eye on the Broncos going hard after that safety, because remember they gave a safety up to I think Atlanta last year. They let their safety go. So on the back end, safety's value is kind of increasing based on some concepts in the NFL defensive list, so we'll see there. But there again, there's nothing wrong with the free agent period. Just Miles Garrett I would pay top dollar for. I can't think of another player I'm going to break the bank for outside of Miles Garrett. Miles Garrett's generational DK Metcalf thirty four catches last year for first downs. That's half of omor On Saint Brown. And by the way, Detroit is never gonna let go of omor On Saint Brown and his pride. He's never gonna hit the market. So j Mackett's been pretty active. It's been pretty active.
Yeah, it looks like Milton Williams, the defensive tackle from Philly, is the big name out there. Some reports leaguing into Carolina. Nothing finalized yet they just dumped Grady Jerry.
Yeah, Milton's a good player.
He looks great in Philadelphia, that's right.
Because he's got Jalen Carter next to him. So he's a prime example Milton Williams. How he's letting him go. Okay, he looks really good in Philly because everybody has to double Jalen Carter and.
Their ed rusher is a great sweat.
Yeah, no one. So he's a B player. He will get an a contract and so somebody and I like him. He's a good player. But let's again let's put this in contextualize it here. Jalen Carter's Aaron Donald. You have to double team him. Okay, well, and then and you got edge rushers. Okay, so Milton always gets single blocking.
Yeah, great super Bowl. He was phenomenal.
He was great. And we've seen that before. Remember Larry Brown of the Cowboys thirty years ago at a great Super Bowl. Somebody overpaid. So I liked this player, but Philly had him on a really good contract. Now somebody's going to overpay.
By the way, how do you feel about my Jets kind of rebuilding? Aaron Rodgers has gone about Day Adams has gone. The cornerback DJ Reid, they lost so Morgan Moses their right tackle. This is a teardown. Aaron glenn Well signed up. We're tearing this thing down to the stud.
No, they're not. First of all, they're not getting rid of Quentin Williams. They're not getting rid of Sauce Card Sauces on the rookie deal. They're not getting rid of Garrett Wilson or Breise Hall or the left tackle. They have an excellent linebacker. I like they're making wise decisions to move off a number two corner DJ Reid who wanted to be a number one, and he wanted to be paid like a one or close to it, so he wants to be the guy in that secondary. He'll never be the guy with Sauce Gardner, so I think it's a smart move by the Jets to let him go. He's a very good player. He's a one on most teams. He's not going to be a one on Denver with certain He's not going to be a number one on the Jets. He wants to be the guy he will be in Detroit. So that's a smart move by the Jet. Aaron, it was over coach, it was over DJ Reid. It's over. I think the Jets still have six or seven really good players. I think the Jets are actually showing some maturity. We don't know if Aaron Glenn's going to be the right coach, but they have a weapon. They have a back, they have a left tackle.
It's early in the process. They've lost four starters, and all signs points to CJ. Mosley the linebacker. He's gonna be shoved out.
Wells had a lot of injuries. Yes, I like him a lot, but WoT I wouldn't spend a lot on CJ. He's been banged up in his career. Don't confuse prudence with the rebuild. Seattle's not rebuilding. They just don't want to pay DK and Gino Smith that kind of money.
Offensively they are, They're always born and fired.
O line running backs, tight end.
They good.
Hour three coming up next
