Super Bowl week New Orleans Media Center. What's going on? I mean free food? Sign me up? I love it.
And as Rob Partner says, when the company pays, you get flay and that's what you have last night.
So nothing better than eating on the company dime.
And it's always great to be on media row for Super Bowl fifty nine New Orleans.
Covino and Rich.
Which for Colin on The Herd, Rich had our bosses for it.
You know, we're gonna talk about that because I think you guys are as clowns. And I'll explain why.
However, no matter where you were when the company's paying, why does the food.
Just taste better because it's free?
Yeah, it's just how it is that they don't even have to do the fake reach for the wallet either.
No, that's part of it, and that's part of the scene.
Again, a lot of boozing and schmoozing, a lot of events and parties leading up to the Super Bowl.
And as you always point out, you know, if you go to a conference for your career, you just bump into people you've.
Met along the way.
So for us, it's like, hey, look, there's like a reunion for the industry.
There's that I'm shying, there's meta times.
There's that like you see everyone you've worked with over the years, so it's like rap check, let's kick his ass.
A lot of people you used to.
Work with, people you know, a lot of familiar faces that you see on TV.
Actually a lot of fun.
Everyone busts out there their new wardrobe, their new gear for you know, super Bowl week and everything rocking my Travis Matthew jacket.
That's a nice one.
Like I brought out some new Jordan's yesterday. Is it safe to say that eight out of ten dudes in this whole conventions that are bought some new sneakers or shoes in the last week you got It's like the first day of school. You don't roll up to the first day of school, eat up thirtys air Force. You gotta bring it. That's just part of the deal, and we'll give you to play by play.
We got Vince will Fork stopping by later on the show and Fred Warner this hour, one of Rich's heroes. And a quick reminder again we're Coveno and Rich and we do this Monday through Friday on Fox Sports Radio. So if you dig our show, even if you hate it, follow our podcast for free, follow, rate and review, just search Covino and Rich.
Get here, Pooka Nakua.
Here's some of the interviews we had earlier this week, Covino and Rich. We're on two to four from La So two to four on the West, five to seven on the East. But always a pleasure to fill in for Colin on the Herd. So we're basically doing five hours yeah of radio today. Now I gotta call Rich out as oh you know what, I see Fred Warner stopping by.
I'll call you out right after that. Save that, you know what, Calling you out is what I'm good at. So don't worry.
I won't forget hold that butt and you could call me out at the end of the our hang with my dude, Fred Warner.
Hold on, yo, what's up? Man? All right? Let's welcome with glory. Dude, I'm the biggest there is. He is, he is. Man.
Let's welcome forty nine Ers linebacker Fred Warner to the show.
All right, welcome man, No man, thanks for stopping by. We appreciate.
I'll try to hide my fanboy nous. I'll tell you, as a Niners fan, this season, I gotta know, as a player, did you feel what I felt every week? Where I was like, next week they'll win three in a row, they'll turn it around, of course, sneak into the playoffs.
Yeah, I mean that that was, of course what we all felt, right, and I hate that the season ended how or it even turned out how it did.
Right.
We've had seasons in the past where we had slow starts, right, and we're three and five, or we're on the verge of three and six, and we find a way to pull it off and then win out and do all these sort of things, and of course you're yearning for that. But at the end of the day, we couldn't overcome a lot of the things that we were dealt, right, So.
That was the toughest part this Niner season.
A weird analogy, but we're feeling for Colin today and he does analogies all day.
Yeah.
It reminded me of Mike Tyson Buster Douglas the whole time. You like, oh Tyson old just a matter of time, that's right. Each round went on, You're like Buster Douglas whipping his ass. Yeah, and then eventually like, oh damn Douglas.
Every week. I'm like the fan of this analogy.
I don't know what I have to do with in this current interview, but you know what I gotta say, Fred, Let's take a look at next year's schedule.
I know you can't think that way, but it's pretty light m m. Yeah.
I mean it's so, here's how the schedule goes the year that we just finished. Everybody's looking at the teams that we've that we're gonna play, and we're going off of base off the past year, right, and that means but what happens, Like the all those teams that had poor, poor seasons, they all now have the best picks to pick up the best players, and then they go in free agency and they go get more great players, and then all of a sudden, they have a great year next year. And everybody's like, oh my god, I thought this team sucked, and it's like, no, well they got they got some reinforcements, because nobody wants to stay at the bottom, right, And so it doesn't matter what the schedule is. I mean, I obviously I guess you technically you want the easiest schedule, but at the end of the day, there is no easy games. Because it's the NFL. Everybody's great, So you gotta go out and you got to put the best product on the field every given Sunday.
Fred Warner here on the Cavino and Rich Show.
Rich talked about, you know, everybody expecting the season to turn around last year and it just never really did.
So there's a lot of buzz, a lot.
Of talking everyday social media on TV. How do you tune that out or does it start to weigh on you after a while?
No, you tune it out.
I think in season is especially important to kind of just keep that stuff outside of whatever your personal things that you're allowing into your life.
Right.
I think there's a lot of stuff out there that can kind of seep in your mind and sway the way that you think about the game or the way that you approach the game. And I've learned throughout my young my younger years, as I can say now, is to kind of just put all that aside, man, and just focus on the main thing, and that's playing football and preparing as hard as you can week in and week out to put the breast product on the field.
Well, you could focus on yourself, right, you're in control of that. Sure, you start to feel the tension building within the locker room, like because you are a family of sorts when things get tough, do you start to notice that we try to keep it coming?
I think, I honestly think that we have a locker room that's made of the right type of guys. I don't think that you know, our GM John Lynch and Kyle Shann and our head coach, they don't bring guys that aren't made of the right things. And so we all stay together through all the hardships. And it has nothing to do about the pressure from the outside. If anything, there's more pressure from the inside because there is a standard of winning in our organization. So when it's not being upheld, then that's when you start to feel okay, like we need to write the ship. And so it was a miserable season because we didn't we didn't do that.
Fred Warner hanging with Covino rich In for the Herd Robert Seal. As a fan, I was pumped. Who cares about what I think? When you are are hearing the rumors and then it happens, is that your guys at a nice reunion.
Unbelievable.
I can't even I can't speak to how amazing that is right here on this on this set, because because of how much Coach Sola means to me and my progression as a young player. I mean from the moment I got drafted to starting me as a as a young rookie who didn't never played off the ball backer before, and sticking with me through the rough patches of that rookie season and me being able to send in this league. So I'm so grateful to him for what he's given me and now being able to have him back now in these different points in our careers are gonna be unique, but in such the right ways. I mean, he's he's such a great teacher and leader of men. I'm so excited to have him.
Back, and he seems like such a good dude.
So what were your thoughts when you saw he was treated and what went on with the Jets and everything.
Well, look, I don't I don't even know exactly what went on over there. Obviously I can only.
Speak to him.
Yeah, you know, when I do sit down and talk, I'm sure I have a little bit more information, but by then I might not be able to get back on the set with you guys. But yeah, man, I'm obviously I'm just excited that he is. However, it all unfolded, he's back with us, and so that's what makes me excited and hopeful for the future.
Now rock party other side of the ball. But it seems like I love how you have his back. I'm not saying it's disingenuous, but do you have to have your quarterbacks back or do you really believe in what he could deliver?
Yeah, no, I can.
I can honestly say that if I did had a certain sort of way that I felt about a player, like I would jump around a question, right, like I kind of find a way to say something nice about him when you know, in reality, probably not the right guy. Like, I don't know how much time do we have on the set, Like we could sit here all day, we can talk about it, but at the end of the day. This is a cat that was the last pick of the draft, right, and you don't even hear about these guys who they don't even pan out in the NFL. I want people to understand this, the last pick of the draft doesn't usually make it on a roster. This is the guy who is our franchise quarterback, you know, and it's just made of the complete right stuff and has continued to prove week in and week out that he is that guy.
You know.
He led us to a super Bowl. Unfortunately we didn't win that super Bowl, but that's not his fault. It's a it's a team game, right. He made enough plays in that in that game to win us the game.
Uh.
He finished with the ball with us having more points than the other team. It was our job to stop their offense. So at the end of the day, man, he just is the complete right guy for the position. And I love him. I love the way that he competes, in the way he approaches it.
Not to throw Trey Lance onto the bus, but they were rumblings early on that even even in like early practices, it was like you take a look at.
Party, Yeah, Purty as the well, you're the third string guy, and you're obviously mister irrelevant, last pick in the draft. You're not gonna have a lot of opportunities to get out there on the practice field. So the times where he was getting reps wasn't training Campbell wore and the PM practice out there no helmets, no pads, were walking to walk through. But he's out there treating it as if it was a game. And I'm like, how like this guy is? How does he even know how to do this? You're a rookie, Like everything just stagged against you, and he just knew exactly what to do from the moment he came on the team.
It's kind of laying but it's sort of the story of the ugly duckling, right, Like he turned into a beautiful.
Swan leading victory. Right, he's phenomenal game.
I want to talk about your game, but not on the field. Your wife he met her by sliding into.
The right that's right, Yeah, I got I got a little something man.
Yeah, So how cool was that? Though?
I I'm imagining you're watching TV you saw her and you're like, I like her?
Is that how?
It was a unique situation. But at the end of the day, yeah, I mean, I see her, she's gorgeously beautiful. I didn't know what it was going to turn into. I did sign the DMS and she somehow answered back. I didn't think she would right, And we we met in La. This was right before COVID happened. She was there for business and got in super late. The only thing that was open was an in and out and so we went to in and Out and we just sat there. We talked for hours, and the similarities within each other, it just it was a match made ahead of But you met her at in and Out basically, really, yeah, that was the That was the first date.
Yeah, that's yeow dude.
And by the way, if you guys don't know the story, she was on The Bachelor season twenty four. So I'm assuming you're a fan and you're just watching and you're like you point at the TV.
Or something.
So you guys are great on social media together, honestly, Like my wife's like.
They're so cute. I appreciated, man, Thank you.
Now I gotta ask this whole season, you played hurt. I mean I'm not saying that's you know, I know everyone's.
A little hurt, but right, you were hurt. Yeah. Yeah.
Is this off season gonna be just the perfect rest you need to come back stronger?
Absolutely?
And you know, I hate to kind of just put this don't I don't ever want to put this ball out on myself because I know that everybody's dealing with something at some point. It was a very hard and unique season for myself because I hadn't had to push through something like that before. But I'm proud of the way that I was able to fight through it, even through the circumstances, and I'm excited, yeah, to get back healthy this offseason to ultimately get back to form going in the next season.
Are you more concerned this offseason about working on your right hook trying to knock that ball out?
I don't know if that's part of the training now, I guess start working on my left. Yeah, that's the that's the problem. Right. And are you still hitting the weights?
Because when I searched Fred Warner, I was just doing some research on your stats. The first thing that come up came up was how many times could you bench to twenty five?
Ah? Yes, yes, it said forty one?
Is wow, Oh my god, that's absolutely not right. Do you still care about that stuff, do you know, Yeah, not at all. I mean I do care about the weight room, but don't get that. Let's not get that wrong. Like the weight room is very important for ultimately performance and longevity in this league. But do I care about how many times I bention have? No?
Yeah, you know those.
Times are those times were good while they lasted, and they weren't, but it was, you know, it was it was part of the process. And now it's just about uh, just being the best version of myself for Sundays.
Fred we had a pookin the koola here earlier. Awesome and he's a good dude, he says. We're talking about the culture now of like you can't really tackle guys.
The way you used to. Is there such an emphasis on punching out the ball?
Is that something like defensive specialists are telling you we gotta do this?
Yeah?
I think that is for absolutely, something that teams are are honing in on now. It's not it's not easy though, you know, some guys have more of a knack forward than others. But at the end of the day, as long as you practice something, yeah, you gotta do it every single day. You gotta practice it every day. To make a muscle memory. And that's what I've done. I added it to my game in my second season and first game being out there with Kwant Alexander, I going, I punch ball out right, And so that was just how it all unfolded.
Again.
We're here with Fred Warner, and I know you're here with Experience, that's right, So yeah, tell us about it, man, Yeah.
No, listen.
Experience all about saving everybody time and money, right, And so you download the Experience app.
They help you.
Cancel all your subscriptions that you don't use, that you don't need. Everybody falls dictim to it, right.
A lot of people pay. I was checking my bills once. I'm like, babe, we're still paying for our Milton exactly. It's like, man, we don't even have a peloton anymore. You know that thing broke like three years ago. Okay, why are we paying for this?
So you know, we all fall victim to it where things just go unnoticed. But they do all the heavy work, all the heavy lifting of doing all that for you and saving you time and money.
I think my mom was still paying for aol way.
I got to ask it it's true, it because it hurt me as a fan and I and I hate to compare it because I'm just a fan. Yeah, I was there both times against the Chiefs. Does this make you want to see them lose? Are you pulling for the Eagles? Are you're not watching? Some guys like I don't even want to watch? Like, what's your what's your thoughts?
I'm not the cat that doesn't watch. I'm I'm a complete fan of the game, so I'm absolutely gonna be tuned in. But I I'm not pulling for other team. I I dislike both teams honestly.
Yeah, and your and your wife hates the Eagles fans, I heard right. Oh well, I wouldn't say hate, but it wasn't.
It wasn't It wasn't the most it wasn't the most cordial, uh you know encounter when we went out there that one time. But yeah, I dislike both teams, so I hope they both lose, you know what I'm saying.
I don't know how that works, but we can we can figure what that was that there was that meme where it's like who's rooting for? Who? Is like meteor strike? It was the number one answer.
I mean, yeah, it let the lights shut out again like they did back. What was that when we played the Ravens, Rich, I'm only.
Three as a fan.
We changed this next year, next year? Come on, Yeah, I got you, Fred A pleasure having you know, you got around the.
Pleasures all mine. Man, Thank you, it's a pleasure to meet.
Thank you, Fred Water on the Cavino and Rich Show in for Colin Cowherd, super Bowl fifty nine, New Orleans.
We got more next.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays and neon Eastern nin a Empacific on Fox Sports Radio f S one, the iHeartRadio app.
Ah.
Yeah, it's Media Row super Bowl fifty nine in New Orleans.
Covino and Rich and for Colin on The Herd.
Everything at Covino and Rich, follow our Nolan's adventures. We're posting a lot at Covino and Rich, our ig story at Fox Sports Radio, lots of videos on YouTube, and definitely follow, rate and review our podcast.
Covino and Rich. We're on every day Monday through Friday.
In fact, not only are we in for the Herd today, we're still doing our regular show because well, super Bowl Media rows. It's like a second home for us. We've been doing this a lot, and love coming.
Back every year.
Want to keep that going, love catching up with people. We got sits thirty fourth year, all right, one hundred and fifty fifth year here man, we are we're actually seventy yeah.
Yeah, and we got Vince will Fork stopping by next hour of the Patriots, former Patriot legend, super Bowl champion.
Know what I got to ask Vince will Fork about We're what Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, said that we're four days away from Super Bowl Sunday, mm hm.
And my wife's at home with the kids.
She hit me up and she's like, Babe, I think I want to buy a new grill and smoker to make all the appetizers for our super Bowl party. And I'm like, do you think now? Well, I'm out of town and we're having a bunch of people come over. Is that the time to experiment with new food?
Right? Yeah? Exactly? Is now the time?
Is now the time We're gonna be the family that makes pulled pork, Like, maybe you try that without company coming over?
Out of Vince knows Vinceville Fork knows his grilling, he knows his barbecue. We'll talk to him about that and more.
He's working with Jason Kelsey on some grilling stuff for the Super Yeah. Yeah, And we just had Fred Warner on the show. I know that was huge for Rich as a big forty nine Ers fan. The one thing I kind of wanted to get to if we had more time is something you bring up all the time about your forty nine Ers and the fear of you know, you only get so much of a window in the NFL. Then again, the Eagles, you thought they were done and now they're back.
I'm gonna give you an answer. Interviews, answer are ready, Hey, Fred Warner? Yeah, Rich Davis.
Yeah, maybe he's smooth, he'd ever get scared that maybe the forty nine Ers window is closing. His answer is clear because it's what any Niner would say when you have John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan running the show, guys that know how to work contracts, they know they know a system, and Salid coming back and Robert Sala.
Now talking about closed already, there is no window.
Closing for the forty nine ers.
And you know what he did give one great answer, which is I gave a lot of great answers, but what I thought was interesting is Yeah, as a fan, you do look at those schedules and say, you know, the the Niners play all week ass teams next year because they have they have the quote easiest schedule, winning percentage wise going into the next season because they were technically a last place team.
But he's right.
All the bottom feeders get the top picks in the draft and they spend the off season trying to revamp because what they did didn't work. So it's not like every garbage team last year is going to be garbage again.
It's just not how it is.
But again, much how the forty nine ers fell off this year, and you think about their window closing.
That's why the Eagles are inspiring heading.
Into Sunday because we felt that way about them last year. You get one major piece like a Saquon Barkley, you got a good healthy year from Jalen Hurts. The whole thing is right back, you know, and it turns it all around again. So you get I would never count your forty nine ers out, is my point.
You get McCaffrey, Ayuk, all these guys that missed the whole season exactly, you know, and maybe make a good move here and there and you know who.
You could also put in that conversation of uh, you know, we counted them out, a team that came within a field goal of being here. At Super Bowl fifty nine, everyone said, oh Buffalo that ship of sale, and people were saying Jets and Dolphins. There were so many people, even on our network that were saying, yeah, Buffalo, that Josh Allen window is closed.
McDermott, no thanks.
You know, they were a Josh bad fourth down spot away from having the ball in the fourth quarter, already up scoring again. So the NFL things changed very quickly with little adjustments.
You know what, I'm gonna call out Rich later on. I want to make fun of Rich and you definitely want to hear that, because he was splitting food last night at a company dinner.
He went, he went split skis.
But since you're talking about again the Super Bowl and we're not gonna avoid it, that's why we're here, let's talk about the ticket sales and the ticket fatigue. Do you think, because we saw this already, and because Chiefs fans have been here twice already, that they're not buying tickets because they're cheaper than ever before, well not ever before, but in recent history.
Yeah, I mean they're not like ten dollars like nineteen to sixty seven and Super Bowl one.
But do you think it's do you think it's Chiefs fatigue? Super Bowl fatigue? Do you think they're sick of the matchup?
Like?
What do you think is going on that the tickets are significantly lower? I mean what you're saying is probably the number one answer. And I say that because if this super Bowl was Detroit Lions Buffalo Bills, I think you would have seen most expensive ticket with out of the super Bowl hishy. And I think it's as simple as this. Ready break it down, just regular guy. Yeah, let's say you went to the last.
Two chief super Bowls.
Imagine the guy having to go to his wife again and be like, honey, I'd like to go again with the boys, or even you want to take your family, whatever the case may be. If you went the last two years, coughing up to change for a third one in New Orleans, might be like, hey, you know, maybe it's a little too much, or maybe like, yeah, I went to the last two, maybe I'll sit back and watch this one. But what do what do most grown men and women call going to the super Bowl, the World Series, the NBA Finals.
They usually say things like this is a once in a lifetime.
Yeah, bucket list, bucket list, I gotta go.
And then you know what those people did.
They went in twenty twenty exactly when the Niners lost to the Chiefs in Miami. And then for the people that were like, oh man, such a bummer, it didn't go. They maybe went the next year when Tom Brady FACEBA homes. Oh dude, I totally missed my opportunity. Oh the Rams Bengals. Faster to another year. Oh wait, they're back in the big game. They're playing the Eagles. There's been five opportunities now for a Chiefs fan, so small market Kansas City fans that are like, this is a bucket list item. You were now on champ spoiled bro not. It's like it's the spoil mentality. I've been there as a Yankees fan in ninety six. Of course I was there, you know, ninety eight, I was there again, you know two thousand. Yeah, I wasn't as excited to go.
I was excited to watch. Nothing would bother me. Get it wrong.
I was watching and rooting, but it wasn't the same exciting because you become spoiled and entitled a little bit. And I think maybe that's why there's not as many Chiefs fans willing to come and call off that money.
In fact, we thought we went to Opening.
Night, which is just a big media celebration at the Superdome, and media is asking all the players, you know, question answer.
You saw it on television.
It was mostly Eagles fans, you know, And again that's early on in the week, So maybe that is partially the reason.
It's just a little bit of a an titlement. Uh.
And listen, I have a buddy who's an Eagles fan that watched them win with Foles within the last ten years. Watched Tim Luz watch the Jalen Hurts lose a couple of years ago. This is the third time in the last decade, he said. And my kids got sports. My wife's like, hey, maybe maybe sit this one out. Like there is a fatigue, which is one hundred percent true.
And on top of that fatigue, ca you know, maybe just people are broke. It's the economy. You know.
Some people might say I don't got that disposable income. However, there's nothing more infuriating than a spoiled fan. There was a time when I was living in New York. Danny g You're a West Coast guy, so if this happens with Dodgers fans, I'll equally roll my eyes and hate it. I would have Yankee fan friends and I'd say, dude, you go to the playoff games. They would say, Bro, it's only the divisional round. Only the Divisional Dude, I'm gonna wait till the World Series. It's only the it's only the American League Championship. I'm like, what are you saying.
Yeah, so maybe we're seeing some habits of a spoiled fan here. That could very well be it. Because ticket prices have plummeted. Pmted beside story and by the.
Way, plummeted meets four thousand dollars.
But in comparison when last year the average ticket price was around eight thousand dollars exactly. I mean that's significant. I mean it's still expensive. I get it, And you know, I also do think rich. I mean, we touched on it that people don't have that sort of money to spend right now, or maybe they're just playing it safe because they're looking to the future.
Who knows, So that is a story we.
Wanted to touch on and wanted to get your thoughts on maybe as to why those are our reasonings. That's our theory. Let us know at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio. Now we're going to get into the headline news a little bit with Danny g. But one last question about the Super Bowl from a from a light perspective. We're having people over, Yeah, what's your take on TV volume? People talking, people shutting up. I know one of our favorite comedians, Built Burr, does a whole bit about how I can't watch the Super Bowl with non fans because he wants to watch people yap in the whole time when you're trying to concentrate it, amoks disrespectful. His take is all these morons talk during the game and then they're quiet during the commercials.
And he's like, it should be the opposite. Oh so my question to write about I got the TV in like the den family room, and I have the living room.
Oh so you don't come here with questions, you come here with solutions.
I'm saying, why make a proclamation that if you want to hone in on the game, Hey listen, slappy, Hey, Zippy, Zip if you want to yap the whole time, get in the kiddies room and watch over there, like Danny. If you and Brenda and Cole come by, do I say, hey, if Brenda and co are gonna be playing with the kids, that's where you go in the like the family room.
The game will be on. But if you want to.
Watch forget the Super Bowl regular season.
I don't like it when my own kids, even the teens family, are in the living room while I'm watching.
In such a great Yeah, you know what, the kids at least have an excuse. They're running around, they're being rambunctious, they're being kids. You're an adult. So many adults show up just to hobknob, you know, and the food. It's like, man, you're ruin in the atmosphere here.
I've been to a Super Bowl party or two. I'm sure you have too, where they turned the volume down so that people could hear their chit chat all.
I hate that.
Turn turn the game up.
I'm gonna get extra I'm gonna get extra so no speakers and crank them.
No, you need to hear it. It's Super Bowl. You gotta have tho so round sound.
And you got to have it like like sports bar level where the game out ways for a big game outweighs.
The chit chat. That's that's the method.
But again Riches's solution, if you missed it, is He's gonna have a separate TV where if you want to chit chat about the latest Bachelor episode while the game is on, you go in that room. All right, This room's for the real fans that are concentrating.
I would invested a whole season, a whole time, you know, all this time into uh, this entire season, not to listen to you on a super Bowl bro. I love all the chit chat. New Love Is Blind comes out this week. Hey, and Shrinking on Apple tmy. That's the chit chat Danny for the for the family room.
Yeah, you're a hob knobber. That's why we do that feature on Fridays. And it's also when you know you met the right significant other. Because Brenda, she knows if NFL is on, don't talk unless there's commercials. There's a you know turn. She's even grabbed the mute and turned the volume up for me. Yeah, that's a that's a great game day, wifey.
Right now, Danny with the game Day wife Game Day wifey, And what do you think about halftime too? Again, I'm not the biggest Kendrick Lamar fan, but I want to hear what's going on.
Don't want to hear it. Don't hear you. You're not the halftime show, he is.
Those are cultural moments that I think exactly if you're a human being, because what a cultural I I see it as like historical moments because we'll be talking about it the same way you bring up Bruno, Mars and Prince and whoever performed. You're gonna be yo, remember when can even if he stinks, you want to watch it and you want to remember it. So it's almost a disrespect that some dude is gonna talk over and stomp over this entire historical moment.
It's like, yo, man, it is the time and place. Could I predict something?
Yeah?
Because in twenty two, by the way, in twenty twenty five, we live in a world of eye rolling critics everyone. Oh God, like you could see you can see the greatest thing in the world you have. There's people to somehow find a way.
To hate it.
HM, without a doubt, there's gonna be a bunch of people that no matter what Kendrick Lamar does, nonk And there's gonna be people that think every every commercial stinks. And there's gonna be those people that live in the past about like, yeah, used to be better back in the day. It's like it's like the fireworks on the fourth of July. There's always that one jerk that's.
Like, oh, better last year.
So be prepared for the haters and the jerks, but enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday. And I fireworks usually end with it is that it, that's it, that's it over. So I think you gotta prepare yourself for all those as clowns that mock everything that talk in your living room. So have at it, have fun. And with that, let's go to Danny g for the Herdline News.
This is the Herdline News.
All right, guys, leading headline from Super Bowl week in New Orleans. Premiere Networks big shot Julie Talbot is soft and says that Rich Davis sharing food with our boss Scott was cute.
Let me tell you it is.
Maybe I think we'll talk about it more on our show this afternoon, because there there was a lot of people chat about how me and the boss decided to split to Andres two grown man, I'm totally a little bit at least I thought you were. We didn't feed.
Each other scallops, guys, did.
You guys share a little lot of cocktail of an umbrella to you guys bet each other a dessert And I took a picture of it, and that is now going to go in the blackmail file.
It all right, Let's start with the NFL here. Nick Sirianni, the Eagles head coach. Of course, he weighed in on Your Guys debate yesterday about motivation and adversity. This team's embraced adversity, Sirianni said yesterday, even going back to the twenty three season, which we haven't talked a lot about since the beginning of the year.
We're grateful for that. We're thankful for that.
As bad as it sucked at the time, I know I'm grateful for that because it shaped us into who we are now and a big reason why we're back here. Embracing adversity is huge for your development as a person, as a player, as a coach.
You know, we got Vince Wilfork stopping by later on. He's lost a few super Bowls. We'll ask him about it, like, how does that work as far as staying motivated that last.
You know, Vince wolfolks Again, it's won a couple close ones and lost a couple close ones.
So that's that's some perspective right there. All right.
The NBA trade deadline is tomorrow. I have one rumor and one trade. Kd is dealing with a left ankle sprain and it is unclear whether or not he's played his final game for the Suns.
No, it's safe.
Sources say Phoenix has been willing to listen to offers for Kevin Durant in recent days. The Warriors are among the teams with interest. According to Brian Windhorst.
Well, the rumor is that the Warriors are reaching out to everybody just to see, yeah, there.
Is out there.
Everyone is like, they don't want to waste Steph's final years exactly, all right, And Sham's had more breaking news this morning. The Bucks have traded three time All Star Chris Middleton to the Wizards in a deal that sends Kyle Kuzma to Milwaukee. Middleton's thirty three, spent eleven plus years in Milwaukee. Key member to that Bucks championship team in twenty one. He's averaging just twelve point six points per games per game this season, his lowest average since twenty thirteen. Injuries have been a big part of why he declined. And Kuzma, on the other hand, twenty nine averaging fifteen to two point fifteen point two points and almost six rebounds this season. So the Bucks, they get a younger guy here to fit in with Jannis Lillard and Brook Lopez.
Hey, yeah, gee, as a resident Lakers guy, do you keep your eye on Kuzma and root form a little bit?
Yeah?
Of course.
Okay, I look at that and say they get in some youth.
But you know, for that Milwaukee Bucks fan base, it's hard to say goodbye to a lifer that was part of a championship team, especially when you got that one chip with Yiannis, and it was very special for that organization.
Middleton was such a big part of that.
So and forget he rose up from the G League. So he's one of the better stories in the league.
Well, you know, Danny, speaking of the NBA, when you look at the standings, I know we always have to stick with Eastern Conference, Western Conference, But I just looked at him like, yeah, where are where are the Golden State Warriors? As of right now, they're that ten seed that would be in the playing game. Dallas is over five hundred and they are on the outside looking at at number eleven. Now when you go to the East, seven on wouldn't even make the playoffs in the West. So does an imbalance in the league. Like you know, every few years you get a way heavier conference, and right now the worst teams in the West are as good as playoff teams in the East.
It's going to be a fun NBA season that we're looking forward to after the Super Bowl is over. Suddenly some life injected to the league, especially with the Anthony Davis no doubt Luca trade.
Look at in the East, Detroit is currently the sixth seed.
If they were in the West, they would be the twelve seed. That's crazy. Big does the Big imbalance?
So lots of drama show in the next two days as far as moves being made.
And let's wrap it up with Lebron. The Lakers are now two and oh at the Clippers new into into It Dome home.
Oh, how sad for the Clippers.
I know they crushed the Clippers last night ninety seven.
And you know, the Clippers have been dominating in the Lakers at least in the regular season the past decade, but not lately. That's nine wins in the lakers last eleven games, and Lebron said that when he went to the bench for his first breather, it was strange to not have his usual seat right next to his homie Ad, but that a smiling Luca helped make the adjustment for him. Miley, I thought that the trade news for sure was fake, Lebron said. I thought it was a hoax, people messing around or whatever. But then when Ad called me and face timed me and I talked to him for quite a while, and even when I got off the phone with him, I still didn't think it was real.
You know, I think we're still processing it and absorbing it.
And do you think it was a hoax because you've been believing like the drones and UFO, So yeah, I was like, yeah, out here.
I thought I was.
Gonna click the link and it was gonna be a naked guy. You know, I thought it was a fake link. I didn't know what it was, but I was pretty impressed by the professionalism of all involved, meaning Lebron saying, you know, hey man, this happens, this is a business.
I get that, and you know, got to move forward, that sort of thing.
AD seemed oddly content, like, you know, I was watching the clip, I'm like, wait.
Is that a current clip? Because I expected to see him like sad and somber, but he was sort of like, yeah, we're gonna go at it and get it, and it was cool to see that he's moving forward. If anything, Lucas seemed you know, the most torn up about it, but we talked about it earlier.
He's also dealing with the most adversial one hundred million dollar difference and the most loss here. But again, I know he's excited.
Still, he's just hearing.
Puntended.
But I will say though that you know, in a world of critics where everyone's you know, leaning on every word they say, everyone said, I handle it pretty professional.
I think for the right amount. Also of AD turned.
Down six million dollars trading clause just to have extra money so they can get the key components that they need.
Yeah, a big move.
I think we're also seeing the right amount of grief, like Lebron saying goodbye to a. D. Lucas saying about the Dallas it's not too much where it's like arguing over it, but it's also the right amount of respect.
So yeah, let's see it all on the court.
And to say, you know who won this trade, you're full of it because no one knows yet.
We shall see and that is the herd Line news.
Well that's the news. And thanks for stopping the herd Line news.
All right, so you mentioned the Lakers, we still got to talk Bronni and the most exciting and I say this respectfully, the most exciting garbage time players. It could be back up quarterbacks, it could be uh, you know, guys off the end of the bench in the NBA, those garbage time players.
The fan favorites, usually like that dude that used to come off the bench for the Celtics.
Yeah, yeah, all your fan red headed Kobe.
Oh.
I think you're gonna say, Taco, Oh, your favorite weird elsengy Taco Oh, Taco fall.
Yeah.
So again, it didn't make Danny's herd Line news. But Bronni hit his first three and say what you want about the guy when he's in and when I hear his name in the highlights, I'm tuned in so the most exciting garbage.
Time players, and I say that respectfully.

All right, welcome back to the show Covino and Rich.
Follow our adventures at Covino and Rich on social media. Always post the new stuff. We came from Vegas to New Orleans. We were in Vegas this past weekend for the Benevita fight David Benavidez with the nice win, and there's lots of rumors in the well, the fighting Rich fighting that Canelo is going to fight Jake Paul.
And Terrence Crawford in September, so.
He's want to fight everybody, but David Benavitez is really the moral of that story. But we love a great fight nice heinie, and we love being here at Super Bowl fifty nine Media Row in New Orleans again in for Colin on the Herd, and we're still joined by Vince Wilfork next hour. In fact, if you look at Cavino's Instagram algorithm, it's Booty's Fight Game and the Yankees, oh yeah, and football and football because we're real excited about the Super Bowl.
Man.
So you brought up Bronnie James, and I love to disagree with Cavino.
That's what I do for fun, That's what I do for a living.
But I agree with him one hundred percent when he said, with all the respect, Bronnie James might be the most exciting garbage time player ever. And you can you give a great example too. It's usually when it's the kid of a player.
I'll be honest.
Let's say the little nerdy white dude on the end of the bench or the seven footer.
Yeah, maybe there's always that guy. We're like, oh, get him in now.
To me, I know this, it's like sort of the Rooty of the Lucas of the team. It's the fan favorite after a while, and he's that guy. And let's make it clear too again for the Hurd audience, we don't hate on Brownie James, not at all.
Man at all. In fact, you know, we're rooting for the kid. He's just a kid. Man.
He's got a lot of pressure on him. His dad's putting all this pressure on him. So when I see him deliver, you know, I get excited for him.
I do.
Also, I feel like it kind of opened the door for the Lakers to be their own man and not have to clear everything through Lebron for this Luca trade, because in a sense, they felt like, we did you a solid with your son.
It's almost like when you when you do someone a solid or a good we don't we don't know you anymore.
It's funny bring Yeah, because I thought about that in a lot of different ways too, because when you saw Lebron's reaction to it publicly, he seemed to be cool with it. And I'm wondering if they said things to him like, look, man, Luca knows the deal with Bronni moving forward, you know, or we're still gonna look out for Bronni moving forward.
Lebron said something like, yo, listen, guys, you're not keeping me in the loop about Bronnie, right, you know, Like.
Yeah, I, in my opinion, he said all the right things. After the fact too, to keep him happy.
And let him feel like, yeah, this was still a part of keeping the winning tradition.
For Bronni or something.
Right, how's that flat screen TV doing that? I helped you wall them out?
Yeah, exactly.
It's it's sort of like that, you know, when you when you bring up garbage time players, I'm gonna make it a little kinder, sure, And I mean it's just it's just an expression. It's not great to be a dis but but garbage time player is also translation like back up fan favorite, you know, utility, because I have two that come to mind as a Mets fan.
Oh mah god.
Jose Iglesias was a dude that the Mets got from the Tigers, like minor league deal, brought him up Candalita. He's a Latino music star that's three hundred in key spots for the Mets, and he becomes the rally cry of a team that had an amazing playoff run. So you could say Jose Iglesias went from like utility garbage guy to a key component of a really fun playoff. Now who I think of when you say that as a Yankees fan, And by the way, yeah, that would that would be a great example, and he stepped up right. In fact, they still no one has signed him yet, and I'm like, I just think like it by no means a charity case. The guy delivers, but I feel like, just for just for vibes the Mets, how do you move on? I also think not only did the fans rally around that type of player, the team rallies around that type of player.
And apparently how.
Lebron reacts when his son sco you know, it's actually endearing to watch, like, wow, he's his heart is out there when his son is playing, you know, he's scoring, and the team, those who say they're they're rallying around Brownie. Whether you think it's fair or not, it might be good for the team. I think of as a Yankees fan, Louis Soho.
Who wasn't like the greatest player ever, but the fans and the team rallied around that dude and he came through all the time. You know who comes sort of a garbage time utility guy that that stepped up and people loved them.
Can you know who comes to mind in baseball? And then I got a couple of football on. Well, now baseball sort of abuses a little bit because they're always telling position players into pitch during a blowout.
That's more than ever before we've seen.
I was gonna say, we'll take you back like ten plus years he was around the league on different teams. You remember Super Joe mceewing. Yeah, there says always those guys. And in the NFL you could say it's backup quarterbacks that when they get a chance, eyes appealed before he was a starter, and then what happens is they become starters and they lose that appeal.
I know where you going, Gardner Minshew number one, the astronaut.
Oh yeah, I mean we're.
Talking about guys that when they got a shot, you're like, oh man, But then sadly they.
Lose that appeal when they're when they got the job.
So here's what we'll do again, because we're on location on media row here at the Super Bowl. Let's get your feedback at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio.
Right, hashtag garbage time players football, baseball, hashtag Rich's lame. Let us know.
We'll give you a shout out and read your feedback at Covino and Rich. Who comes to mind for you? Yeah, it's honestly, it's it's it's a compliment. It's not an insult. No, no, no, it's awesome. It's the fan favorites.
Now listen.
Coming up next, Vince will Fork. Now here's a guy who has been to four Super Bowls. He won, two he lost to So this guy knows about the highs and lows of this week. So we'll catch up with him in for Colin Cowherd On The Herd. You got Covino and Rich live from New Orleans Media Row.
Let's go. We got more next right here. Pop Sports Radio
