Oh it is a Monday in there is a lot to discuss. Love, It's the Herd wherever you may be, however you may be listening. Thanks for making us part of your day. One hour from now. Where Colin was right, Where Colin was wrong. Jmack I was looking forward to a game seven. Not all game sevens are equal, but when steps in a Game seven, they're on the road, the deeper, longer, more athletic Houston Rockets. And it was a little bit of a coaching clinic and the old guy clinic. I mean, they forced Houston into half court basketball and that's not North Houston flourishes.

And then that buddy Healed showed up, he was on a milk cart in all Series.

Wow, top three and gave him my god, unbelievable. So that was that's gonna be that is a really impressive win by Golden State. It was not a great first round for old guys. The Old Lakers lost, the Old Bucks lost, The Clippers were older than Denver and lost. But then there's Steph, Steve, Draymond Green and the Warriors surviving. Steve Kerr pulled all the levers and had to. They had no bench. It was a starting five in Kavon Looney. They're going to a one three to one zone. Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green were very good, but they had to do a lot of it, not just in the box score. Buddy healed in Pods because you know, Steph gets doubled so often. Buddy healed and Pods got great looks and Buddy hit a ton of his. The Warriors had no bench, no depth. Think about that, an old team on the road plans six guys. Because they tried to play Jonathan Kaminga twice and you can see Steve Kerr's frustration. It doesn't work. He's like the kid at the playground. None of the kids will play with It just doesn't work. When Jonathan Kaminga's in there, he gets the hook. And so here's Steve Kerr. They score one hundred and three points. One hundred of their one to oh three come from their starters. You're on the road. The other team's got more length than size and depth, so you had to pull all these levers. And then there's Steph Curry, and the gravity of Steph was on display. So I mean, when you pick him up at half court and you're doubling him and trapping him, it leaves Buddy Healed open, and it gives Jimmy Butler more breathing room. And eventually in the fourth quarter, Steph hits five of six. He's the hammer. Houston's the nail, and he finishes it off. But what Golden State really did yesterday is they said Draymond Green shut down sh Goon. Just shut him down, get into his feet, push him around. He did, and that was everything because then you're basically Jalen Green. You can't trust Aman Thompson's excellent, but not doesn't have a three point shot yet.

So Draymond closes down the middle. And I was looking at.

The numbers, the rockets were five for twenty one. If Draymond Green was guarding you, And this is what Draymond does in Big Series.

He may be old.

He doesn't play old, so he shut down the middle, and he does. He's the best defensive player I've ever seen and can also be an offensive catalyst. But then Fred van Vliet, they threw bodies at him. He didn't play particularly well. And all that rocket size and all that rocket athleticism, it just didn't matter because Houston has a bunch of guys who are great athletes but don't know how to play. That's why it's so obvious Cominga should be a Houston rocket, right. He doesn't work with Golden State. They have six guys and they all know how to play. And the key is they all know how to play with Steph Curry and so basically very smartly Golden State and Kurk just said, you stut Draymond shut down sheng Goon. We'll switch in a bigger and smaller guys. That's the primary deal. He took him out of the game, and it forced Houston to play half court basketball. And I've been saying this for years. Kaminga didn't go to college basketball. Jalen Green didn't go to college basketball. They went got some dough, went to the G League. Neither one knows how to play. They're just athletes. That doesn't mean everybody that goes to the G League fails. But when you watch Houston, you're like, they just got a bunch of dudes who should have spent more time in college and learn how to play within the structure and a system, because I mean, you know, the Rockets head coach got so frustrated so many times with.

This half court offense.

And in the end, Steph got hot, Buddy was hot, Butler was hot, Draymond was a catalyst. And you talk about a team. It was not a good first round for old guys, and it may not be a good second round for the calves. We'll wait on that. They have to shoot better. But this was a Warriors team been there a million times of no depth, not much size, couldn't play Kaminga and Steve Kerr, and this team pulled all the right levers.

Here's Steve Kerr.

Couldn't be more proud of our guys. That was incredibly impressive display of resolve, discipline, The defense was fantastic, the ball security, kind of game plan, discipline followed to a t and then multiple guys stepping up.

Buddy heeled.

I don't know what to say, I mean, that was really incredible watching him light it up.

And so much of what Draymon and Butler and the Warriors Kevon Looney do isn't necessarily box score stuff.

There is something.

Did you see Steph Curry before the game getting his guys fired up? And that's where I want to talk about the Clippers losing to Denver. So I thought the Clippers, I mean, Denver fired their coach at the end of the year. They were playing terrible basketball. I'm like, I got a better coach. I got a head coach. I got a team Clippers that are deeper, I think, more talented arguably, and they're playing great. And yet here again are the Clippers led by sort of a mercenary, a basketball mercenary. Kowhi, great player, not a leader, and James Harden ball centric too often, invisible often in the playoffs, and what do you do. There's no way the Clippers had lost this series. Denver's got like the substitute teacher coaching Stan Cronky. The owner is like, we're too good to play this bad. They get rid of Malone and I'm thinking that's a bad decision. Everything was right in front of them. And Kawhi Leonard. This is why demeanor and leadership matter. He doesn't set the tone, unlike Jokic, who got on his teammates multiple times in this series. Now, Kawhi's just a He's a really talented instrument, a bit of a loner. He'll never be the heartbeat of a franchise. To be the leader, you got to play more than forty five games annually. You got to be there. And so it's like, okay, what about James Harden. James Harden similarly, James Harden will give you buckets. But the difference between him and say a Westbrook. If Westbrook's not giving you buckets, he's giving you so much else. He's giving you rebounding and defense and intensity and attitude. If James Harden isn't hitting baskets, and he wasn't yesterday, you get nothing else. So you know, Cowizo has been a guy that feels kind of cold and calculated. He's kind of a basketball hired gun. And that's to me. He's got some MJ. Kobe comps. But that's where it ends, because Kobe could be inspirational and Michael was a leader and he was barking and that's what Jokic did the great players in the playoffs.

Demeanor matters leadership.

Match Denver, give Westbrook a ton of credit for a leadership role. Give me your kitch a ton of credit. You got a substitute teacher as a head coach. Denver shouldn't have won this series. Inspiration once again matters. Leadership once again matters. Harden's talented, but he's a one trick pony. You don't get points, what do you get? There's always an excuse. And again, Kawhi is an all time talent, but he has to be, like Katie, an accessory. He cannot be a foundational heartbeat of the franchise. You can't play forty five games and do that. So I've said this.

I don't know.

The Clippers are good, but if you can't win this series when you have a significantly better staff, you're playing great basketball. At the end of the year, the Nuggets are a mess. They go with an interim coach. Everything's off and and in game seven, one of your guys is good but won't lead. The other one's bad and refuses to here's tyleru after you know.

James having to carry such a heavy load you know, with Kawhi missing, I think forty five games, and I'm just having to carry that low, you know, all season long. And he did a great job with that.

And I think.

Kawhi, like I said, coming back being Kawhi and having a confidence in his need that he can play, play more minutes, he can get through these games, and those two together for a whole season, I think would be tremendous.

Nobody thinks you're gonna get those two guys at this point for a whole season. It's all fools, Gold Kawhi. There's always one purpose, but it's never a higher purpose. So you the Clippers can keep grabbing onto this stuff. But give the Lakers credit. The Lakers will move off people. They take a swing for Westbrook doesn't work, they go, they make deals. They're always willing to make. I feel like the Clippers, you know, the step child in the city. I know they got the richer owner in the new facility. They just keep clinging onto this thing. Well, next year will be different. No, kawhile play like forty games and Harden'll give you buckets and won't defend and won't lead, and that's what you are. But you know, The reality is, if you can't win this series with a new arena, you got an interim coach in Denver. I mean, you've got a brand new head coach. I mean there was Russell Westbrook, there was infighting. Malone wanted to play him, the GM didn't. Westbrook ended up being a tone center for four different games in this series. More on that later, but we've been saying this now for some time. Jo Kisch is the best player in the world, but there's an argument in many games and Jimal Murray's the second most consistent offensive player. Westbrook was huge, and it wasn't because Westbrook's in his prime. Westbrook was willing to lead and bark and emmote and be raw and Westbrook has seemingly discovered. I don't know why it took so long how to shoot at three, but I so much of Denver was to me was looking in the mirror. I mean, if you go to about game four on, Denver was the better team and should not have been should not have won this series.

J Mack, that was fun. Your pacers call, hey, hey, now let's go.

You know, well, first of all, Cleveland will shoot better, but without Darius Garland, the offense just isn't the same offense.

A little too much ties your own Okay in sam Merriles.

Jerome can shoot, but he's not.

A twenty nine minute a game guy, and he's.

Not a distributor. He's not gonna run an offense. He can get your bucket.

Yeah, he took, by the way, Donovan Mitchell one of eleven on threes, like it was just a bad game from the Cats. Quick point on Russell Westbrook. He shot forty one on threes in the series.

That's better than.

Steph Curries you shot against the Rockets. Yeah, this was total fools goal his Is he gonna sleep them?

Or no, no, you can't. You're not gonna sweep Yo Kitchen, no way. Denver's got too much, too many players. All right, I'm blasted by the way, by the way, Denver's got players in their prime, Yo Kitchen his prime. Yeah, okay, uh, Jamal Murray Stone his prime, Gordon athletically Stone his prime may disappoint you, but Michael Porter's probably near the close to the end of his prime. But they have too many athletes and too many guys in those great years. And Westbrook, by the way, is not at his prime. But he actually does some things better than he did in his prime, which is shoot corner threes and actually play with a little bit more self awareness.

I just want to say, it feels like fools gold. You know, like you're guarding somebody in a basketball game. They make a shot and you're like, all right, that's fine, he's not doing it again.

Maybe he hits another.

There's no way Westbrook duplicates that in the next series. I I you know, I've been anti.

Thunder all year.

I think this unders smashed them, and I did bet thunder tonight.

Did you see minus nine and a half?

Well, yeah, thunder tonight. It's if you've seen like the DraftKings number on this.

Oh my, it's Redicus like minus eight hundreds.

Ye.

No, I mean it's not that the Nuggets are underdogs.

The lines, the betting odds are so stacked in okaysee his favorite.

Same with the Celtics series like that.

I think three of the series that Calvs were lopsided favorites against the Pacers in this series.

Not, according to jmak get one every now and then.

Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd Weekdays and Noone Easter non a em Pacific on Fox Sports Radio FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

So yeah, a lot of you know that.

You know Draymond Green's got a very popular podcast, and I know Draymond, but I've said this for years. If you don't get the value of Draymond Green, I can't help you. People will fall in love with a Mellow or a James Harden or the speed of a John Wall. And I'm like, do you guys watch basketball? Do you see how much he does? This league is a parade of three pointers and one on one ISO basketball offense first culture. There's nothing wrong with that. Draymon is a testament to how many ways you can win. He'll switch to biggs guys five inches bigger, He'll switch to small guys. It doesn't matter. The Warrior small ball is only possible. It's not Stephan Clay. A lot of teams have shooters, it's Draymon. You used to have to have a center and you also had a power forward. They have Draymon, who's faster than both, who can be an offensive catalyst. He's such a connective passer and a lot of what he does is like not necessarily box score stuff.

He shoots the three just.

Well enough that you have to be aware of him. But this was a great example of they just said, basically, take out Sheng Goon, get him off his game, get him off his rhythm. And I mean, he just It's like if James Harden isn't hitting shots, you don't get anything else. And that's why Draymon is the iPhone and you know, scores only like James Harden are you know, the eye pod. They just don't do a lot. He does everything well. He can be the best screener, he can be your best rebounder. He's obviously your best defender. Again, a very connected passer. And as Steph is struggling in the first half, what's keeping him in the game because the Warriors had a bad offensive first half is Draymond Green. He literally stopped the Rockets half court offense, took them totally out of rhythm. And he doesn't get a lot of appreciation. But you know who knows how great he is. Steve Kerr and Steph Curry know how great he is. I've always said this team at times has had a lot of finesse. He has always been the bouncer at the nightclub. You think they're soft, you think they're small, and then it's like Rodman, but with a much more layered offensive game. Rodman couldn't shoot. Rodman wasn't a great passer. Rodman was just annoying. That's just one of the gears Draymond Green has. And here's his coach after Draymond.

Really he's our leader, and when he's right like he was tonight, he's an incredible player to watch the defense, just kind of owning the court on that side of things, and then just being patient and not turning it over and being in the right spots offensively.

Yeah, And the other thing I like about Draymond, I'll play it by here in a second. The other thing I like about him is, you know, and I understand this. These NBA players, it's shoe deals, it's Instagram deals, it's big contracts, it's pods. It will be so easy to like, come into this league, you get the bag, and you're satisfied. Draymond Green will not be satisfied until he no longer plays in this league.

I powered it way too much last game. Spend the last two days embarrassed just at what I what I gave to the game, What I gave to the world. I was embarrassed. So I've been dying since the last game ended to get out on the floor and prove who I am. You know one thing about this league, You're never done proven who you are until you're done, completely finished.

And I don't know how many more of those games he has. They play Minnesota, Chris Finch coming on later. That's an interesting game, the bigger, deeper, Timberwolves. The difference is Houston's biggs and depth all kids, Minnesota is a Rudy Gobert, you know, Julius Randall Knas reed. So Minnesota collectively is a much more experienced team, much better in the half court offense. They present much different problems. I don't love this matchup going forward for Golden State. The Warriors just took advantage of Houston's inexperienced, awful half court offensive. Fred van Vliet's not scoring in naivete. You're getting none of that with a great staff and a lot of games and a lot of experience. I think this is a tough matchup for the Warriors.

The Dubs.

I would probably take Minnesota their coach later in the show, but that was classic Draymond yesterday in a crucial road game, Game seven, when you basically were playing five guys in Kaevon, Looney and Steph was off in the first half, and you won, and Draymond.

Was a huge, huge part of that. Jmack with the news.

No turns, this is the headline news.

All right, let's start with the Los Angeles Lakers column their off season. Hey, it's underweighing. Would you look at that on the screen? Look who's rolling out of the dinner an exclusive dinner, Luka, Doncic, JJ Riddick, GM, Rob Palinka. They had dinner Friday night. Notice the absent unless he slipped out the back door Lebron James. Their reports that the Lakers really are going to great lengths to make Luca aware. Hey, man, you're gonna lead us into the next era. Apparently Luca is going to play in EuroBasket this summer. Yeah, first Slovenia, not a lot, but he's expected to. That would be in August and early September. Do you think they discussed his weight issues in Absolutis Championship shape comments that he made.

Yeah, I don't think there's any question.

And this is why I've said that I would always take a call moving Luca. They didn't get enough for him, And this is why I've compared him to Carmelo. He's a great offensive talent all time, but if you say mellow to people who are really honest, it's like never in great shape, wouldn't connect on the defensive end. The Lakers are now going to a dinner right after the season to talk about both of those. Those were the first two items. Get in better shape, you gotta be engaged defensively a little. I guarante those are the top two topics. I think they want him to play year old basketball because he'll stay in shape. Well they don't want to do is go to Europe and hang out and drink beerrel.

Hang out with uh, you know, his buddies.

But regarding the championship shape, I liked that Reddick said this.

Stuff right, but not during the series.

You don't want to like Luka that try series when he wasn't playing great defense. He had like one rebound in thirty eight minutes or something. So I'm fine with the championship shape comments. And I think Luca probably gets it right because he was injured for like thirty games.

Yeah, traded like I'm sure that there's always.

Going to be an excuse. You're you're a professional athlete, be in great shape.

Is there any other Laker that you can think of.

That the Austin Reeves will get moved for a big Absolutely.

He was one series and you're out on him.

Huh No, I've never never, You've always been on Yeah, I've.

Always said he's a four for a viable championship team. He's a three on a team potentially good enough to play, potentially in the conference finals. But he got worked athletically Minnesota through also the bodies at him, and he just could not get to the free throw line.

And that, by the way, the Lakers didn't even mean.

They haven't paid him anything yet really, and he's undrafted, so the Lakers buy sell what they say by low sell high. Don't get greedy on this. This has been such a fine for the organization. He gotta go get bigs because JJ Reddick is not into Jackson Hayes. No, so that would be that's okay with Golden State because they have Draymond Green. The Lakers aren't big enough. Draymond Green gives you the ability to say we're not gonna play anybody. But you know, we'll play Looney a little, and you can play much bigger teams. The Lakers don't trust Jackson Hayes, so they have to get sized.

So we talked yesterday and I told you, if I'm the Lakers, my number one target is Miles Turner of the Indiana Pacers. He's gonna be on the market. Yeah, Now he's gonna be pricey, But the Lakers should have Luca and Lebron call up Miles Turner as soon as the Pacers losing the playoffs. Bro, I know you're gonna get big offers from the Nets and all these other teams come to the Lakers.

We need you take a look less because they won't have the money.

But I'm telling you Miles Turner, the way he shoot threes and defends the rim, I think they'd be a great fit for the Lakers. Do you think Luca gave them a list? Hey, here's some guys I would be interested.

You know, international players don't tend to do that as much.

They kind of let the operation run itself.

I don't think Wemby is directing traffic down there in San Antonio, but I do think the key to this was I think JJ Reddick had every right, and Rob Polinka backed then saying, we need you in great shape. Okay, Lebron's getting older, so I mean Lebron. We like Lebron playing thirty not thirty seven minutes. And also we're you know, they're not gonna tell them what they're gonna do with Austin Reeves. But Austin Reeves is not a great defender either. Lebron looked tired at the end of series. Luca is never going to be a great defender. But in Dallas, when they we were talking about this is a staff this morning, you know where Austin Reeves fits Dallas. Yes, No, he fits perfectly in Dallas. And you know what the Lakers need size from Dallas, Dafford or somebody. I'm just they may not make a deal, but they need another play in this year.

I don't think Niko is gonna help.

I know, I think you can go to Brooklyn and look a little bit at their big.

Boston Bapella should be available. I meant Lakers are gonna be fine. Let's move on to the second story. Colin, that's my nix. They got a big one against the Celtics, New York has not done well against Boston this season, zero to four, three double digit losses. Last year they were one and four. I mean, basically, it's not a great matchup.

Now.

I thought this would be a good matchup.

Because they have the length on the perimeter.

But you watch that Detroit series, you can't possibly think they have a chance. The Celtics are minus eight fifty to win the series. Josh Hart came out and said, if we if we're counted out already, we should play great with a level of freedom. We don't care too much about what the outside world says. Boston Celtics injury report clean. Everybody's a go. Any actioned on this at not Celtics.

Nine.

Celtics are gonna roll.

How about this you want to go?

I think Denver.

And the Warriors will make very competitive series because I think the teams are there's just too many good players in their prime for Denver and the Warriors are too smart. They're gonna win some games just on half court execution. I think the Knicks are in big trouble.

Yeah, I mean, how about this Knicks first quarter tonight?

They come out engage, locked in. Hey, we have Celtics are gonna come in. Hey, we smash these guys all season. We got nothing to worry about. All right, Nick's first quarter? Can I interest you in that?

Well, Boston is very three point dependence. Yes, so if they come out a little cool, they've.

Been offered what for six weeks?

Yeah, so my guess is Boston.

That's actually a great bet because Boston just has not played and we all know Boston store when the threes are going down, best team in the league, sometimes by a gap.

If they're not, they have bad halfs.

They go Knicks.

Final story, com ooh, this is spicy. So the forty nine ers just inked George Kittle to the highest paid contract for a tight end ever, four years, seventy six mil. However, according to Diana Racidi, San Francisco had an offer of a second round pick for Kittle ahead of the draft and they decided no, thank you. Kittle does turn thirty two in October, but he's coming off a monster season.

Huge year.

Now, I looked at the teams that drafted a tight end in the second round.

You want to know who they are?

Rams Rams at forty six, Jets at forty two, and Seattle at fifty.

So twas all of those teams got great tight ends. This was an incredible Terrence Ferguson Arroyo. These are good tight ends. Every team that drafted a tight end in the second round got a starter.

Now if you're interested, the Browns took one at the top of the third round. They did have two early picks in the second. Maybe they were gonna pawn one off for Kittle. They got the kids fan and who I love him at bowling Now, I don't know. He's more a receiver only not a blocker. I think, yeah, not much of a blocker, but it's early.

I think it was the right move to keep Kittle. You can't lose Debo and Kittle.

No keybop.

First of all, again, if you're keeping brock Purty, I don't want a rookie tight end you got, you got Trent Williams, left tackle, Old christianoff an injury, Deebo's gone. Ay you, I mean, there's there's a lot of moving parts with them.

Give me Kittle as your third down receiver.

It would have been a sign that they're rebuilding as opposed to we think we could.

These tight ends. I thought I'm serious about two years ago I thought Kittle's wearing down, and then last year I'm like, oh my god, is he still in his prime?

Hit a great year in j Mack with a news.

Well that's the news and thanks for stopping by the Herd Live.

Yeah, Jay, I was watching Little Kitlin Clark yesterday. Between Caitlin Clark and Tyrese Haliburton, Indiana Pro basketball is in really good hands, so Cleveland. That's a great example. We always talk about quarterback in the NFL leading the offense. Well, point guard in the NBA is your quarterback and Cleveland Darius Garland not available, so Donovan Mitchell, who's a score but not a distributor, took too many shots. So when you watch Cleveland play, they were unbalanced. Two guys took all the shots and they didn't have their quarterback. Meanwhile, the Pacers back court took over the game. And Halliburton so interesting because he's so smart because he plays so fast yet never turns the ball over, and they're pacing. I think aesthetically, the Pacers are one of the best watches in the NBA. They shoot the three, but don't depend on it. Great pacing, very smart, well coached, and Halliburton I know he irritates people because he trash talks. But watching Indiana play, it's a joy to watch. They move the ball, they're not dependent on any singular score. And Cleveland, a stacked roster, just didn't have their point guard and they were off. You had Donovan, two guys taken all the shots. And you know, Halliburton's a funny player because you know, you know, the incident with his dad and jamac two years ago, told me this is the future of the NBA. Then he got hurt, he had a hamstring issue, and he went. He pulled back on it. He is back. I loved Indiana to easily dispose of Milwaukee. I didn't think they had the bodies. Garland's injury they're reporting is more serious than people think. I do think eventually the Cavs, a great three point shooting team, will get their act together. But you can see where Indiana is a problem. Their backcourt is healthy. That game yesterday, that's.

What Indiana looks like.

Indiana played exactly how they play, and Cleveland was totally off their game.

And here was Donovan Mitchell.

After we missed a lot of good looks, you know, and then when you misshots. That's when they get going and transition, you know what I mean. So I like a lot of the looks we got. I mean I was one of eleven from three and some of them were wide open, you know, I mean some of the shots I've made. And you know, the biggest thing is you know, when the shots aren't falling, how you respond. But when a team like this they run like that, it makes it tough.

Yeah, that's the classic. We got our quarterback. Our pace is great. And the other thing about Indiana, they just spread it around. Halliburton has just given everybody touches. Five guys scoring in double figures, everybody is engaged, and Cleveland allowed Indiana to play their kind of basketball. That's what they look like against Milwaukee. Everybody's touching it. They're playing fast, they're young and spry. They've got enough length they can hit threes, but they're not dependent on it. And pro basketball at Indiana is a pretty good shape going forward.

Halliburton and Caitlin Clark coming up next.

Jmack your favorite quarterback, Oh the Brock Party, former teammate, A little shade at him.

That's coming up.

So whenever you pay your quarterback a lot of money, especially if he is a B quarterback, you'll get grumbling. Remember last time Dak Prescott got into a playoff game and the Cowboys played poorly, and you know, you got Micah Parsons or a CD Lamb or there's a brother or a cousin, and people taking shots at Dak.

They don't do that.

If Josh Allen loses a playoff game, or Lamar Jackson or Justin Herbert lose a playoff game, you cannot fool the players. Okay, So if you pay a quarterback and he's great and you lose a playoff game, Lamar Jackson has struggled in the playoff nobody's banging on Lamar Jackson. Dak lost playoff games, and Dak's a B quarterback, He's not an A. He got some shots because everybody's like, yeah, well we need more good players Dak So it's interesting. So the reason h Talanoa Hufunga a safety, and Greenlaw the linebacker. The reason they're now both out of San Francisco is because you have to pay brock Purty and the Niners are.

Getting ready for it.

They're getting ready to pay him, which is no big deal, right as Jmax said, this guy's like the next Ma Homes But yet, but yet. The Funga was on a podcast talking about his new quarterback Bo Nicks.

Everybody's kind of like skeptical about his rookie and he just came out of ball and then that's what I love about it. And so you know, you get talking to Dre. You know, he was my locker partner at the Niners, and then when we came here together, we're like, man, like, when you got a quarterback that can go out there and really play and as a defense like you know you can.

It's not just three and out.

There's a lot of teams like that in the NFL, you know, And so for us it was like, yeah, this is we got potential here and so why can't we come over here and help change But he's the reason interesting.

I mean, we got a quarterback over here who can really play. It's not a bunch of three and out now, in fairness, Shanahan's offense is not a three and out offense. I we go back and forth on this. Do you believe he's throwing shaite? Now Pooka Nakua a rival for the Rams? Remember, and this was rare. You don't get a lot of this. Said this a month ago on Julian Edelman's podcast.

Rock Perty. Is he gonna get a five?

I don't think so.

You think he's gonna go with a four. It's gonna start with a four? Yeah, high four?

No, I think mid mid for I think so.

I mean, I think if he does that, that'd be smart for him and them.

Yeah, I mean, I think he's he seems like a smart guy. I think he like there's still they have a chance to still be in there. And I think if he goes for five, the window closes.

Just saying Jmack doesn't get J Mack gets very sensitive about rock Perty. And we went back and forth on this, but Puoka came out publicly. Now when when Russell Wilson's was getting all that shade, I said, I've never heard a quarterback get ripped by teammates. Nobody rips the quarterback but Dak when he's lost games. You've had players, family members grumbling, and I've always said this that that's just what you hear publicly. It is interesting that Puka would say that and not worry about it, and that Havanga sounded a little bit like boy, I like that new quarterback we have.

He can really play.

How many conference championship games does he have to get to before he gets some respect?

I mean, what's the deal? Pooka nkup is doing a lot of talk in this offseason.

He's like a new guy. I'm retiring at twenty nine, Pooka, let's tell it back. I mean, you know the forty nine ers have owned the Rams, not in the last four years.

I know last year wasn't great, they were injuries.

Collin just kind of throw it out there.

It's very rare when quarterbacks publicly get dissed.

How much of it is because he was a seventh round pick and he's a underdog, Like that's.

A players love underdog.

Yougo, players love Max Crosby he was a fourth or players loved Puka.

Well, Max Crosby's like a six eighty pounds. Now, Perdie's not. I mean even remember Tom Brady first three years. He'll tell you this.

He was considered an underdog and a game manager and all that negative stuff, and then he just kept stacking.

Super Bowls with BELLI check, go, oh wait, tom Brady's really I.

Just I think you can't fool players. And I think what Pooka said is what everybody thinks. You pay him five, it's over. You're not paying him five, then you're gonna have to move off other players.

Five defensive starters, yeah, one, they canna be fine.

All right.

Here's so this story really irks me. And I thought about this this morning, and I didn't touch it last week because we were just too busy doing things. But so Abdull Carter played for Penn State, but he had some baggage.

I love Drew.

Rosenhouse, but he's Drew Rosenhouse's client. Okay, so there. Drew Rosenhouse's history is he represents guys that got some stuff. So Abdul Carter he was advised to get surgery for an injury. He's like, nah, there was some stuff that people didn't love about it, but I'm like, hey, he's coming to the league, but he asked to wear apparently asked to wear Lawrence Taylor's jersey number fifty six. That is so ridiculous. That is like going to the Yankees and saying, can I wear number two? That's going to the Lakers? Can I wear number thirty two?

Yeah?

This guy named Magic Lawrence Taylor. Bill Belichick won't say this. He always throws Brady in. But Belichick is a defensive coach. Privately, I believe that he thinks Lawrence Taylor, not Brady's the best player ever had, because Belichick doesn't get any credit for Tom Brady. Josh McDaniel gets it, Brady gets it, Dantates Garnecki gets it. Lawrence Taylor. You know that's that's Bill's side of the ball. Lawrence Taylor. I don't even think it's arguable. There's only two players that I think you could even argue are the greatest defensive player ever. Lawrence Taylor is the greatest and Reggie White's second. But Lawrence Taylor's ability to just blow up every play from the outside. Now, I think Aaron Donald gets some arguments as the second or third best player, but I think Donald is Reggie white minus five percent could be wrong, But you don't ask for Lawrence Taylor's jersey. Then Phil Simms says, well, he can have my number eleven, and phil Simms family's like, no.

He can't.

Don't do that, Dad, don't be nice. Here's the thing in life. All you young players, row your own boat, make your own legacy. How about you learn to carry a veteran's bag before you take his jersey. This screams of entire idleman. It screams for lack of self awareness. Those jerseys are retired and it's not like it just you know, it was a tight end in the fifties. Lawrence Taylor is the greatest New York Giant and he played, you know, in a franchise with Michael Strahan. Strahand would tell you that's the greatest New York Giant ever. If you didn't get to watch Lawrence Taylor live, the YouTube doesn't do him clips. It was like Mike Tyson in his prime. Mike Tyson scared other heavyweight fighters like Lawrence Taylor. People couldn't sleep playing him. He just right when when when? And Lawrence is I don't know if he practiced. There were times he showed up literally during jumping jacks and just waded onto the field unblockable, completely unblockable, and you want to see if you can wear his jersey. I don't even know. Like that's that drives me nuts. Two things about young people drive me nuts, and I'm pro young people. Number one, stop talking about happiness. Well, happiness is a rainbow. Have a purpose in life. You'll be happy. Stop talking about trying to be happy. Life's not all about being happy, right, Have a purpose in life. You'll become happy. And after you're happy, an hour later you could be sad. There are no perfectly happy days. And if that's what you're seeking, get a life, because that's not what life's about.

Well, I'm happy.

I eat kit Cat bars all day and take naps and play with my cat.

I'm happy. Yeah, get a life and do something.

The second thing that drives me nuts is this idea that nothing was great until you arrived. There's a reason they built statues for people and retire jerseys because Lawrence Taylor today would walk on the field and easily be the best defensive player in the league. And I say that with the Max Crosby's and the Chris Jones and all these great players. That would be the best player easily. And if Mike Tyson was fighting today, he would be the heavyweight champ. In fifteen minutes. You could line the rest of those guys up. He'd knock them all out by the third round. So young people, row your own boat, Row your own boat, create your own legacy. Don't be asking for retired guy's jerseys. And by the way, all you interns at Fox, you don't get a park in the executive parking spots. Don't ask, you don't and don't ask. We're not giving you to it. Just asking is a lack of self awareness. All right, j Mac, that was not targeted at you. You were an intern that has moved up to a very important d.

He's never an intern. But I did not get a parking spot here for several years. Parking hurt me. Sometimes it's crowded down there.

I mean, listen, I can't get on a billboard, I can't get a parking spot.

No respect on the rock gaining your field of this one.

Can you imagine if Drake May last year came in and said, I know it's a big ass, but can I wear twelve?

That is the equivalent to Lawrence Taylor.

Yeah, no, that's bad. I didn't put it together. But that was that was a nice job by you. I will say, phil Simms. Are we sure phil Simms was the best quarterback in the league.

Never phil Simms and Eli Manning trophies in New York.

You don't ask for get it again. In fairness, he did not ask for phil Simms. Phil Simms offered, Hey, I'll give him. Mind.

It's like no, no, no, no, no, no, you won't.

How about I don't want phil Simms, nothing special, no, no, phil Simms in New York.

Absolutely, he's a hero. They love him.

I get it as a Jets fan. I'm just salty about all things giants. So I do kind of like this thisveling.

Young people, I love you. Stop talking about being happy? Why that was quite the rant. But where did that come from? It comes from the young people asking about being happy. I have this conversation with my kids. Do you have a purpose in life? Help others? You can help yourselves. It's okay to occasionally be selfish, but like, find a purpose, you'll be happy. I'm listening to cassette tapes. If I do this, I'll be happy and I do that. It's just a rainbow.

You can't grab it. It's just, oh, there's happy.

You know, the self help genre right now is like the number one book genre.

On the planet. Earths. How many guys on Nobody's happy? You know why? Because of these stupid things. These phones right.

Here are making people depressed because they see all these awesome lives. They see your trips fishing. What can't I be doing what Cowherd's doing. Do you know how many college kids ask me, hey man, how do I get your job?

And I'm like, work, go to Amarillo, Texas for four years.

I'm an overnight success after twenty years grinding in sports media. Like, I don't know, maybe you're onto something with the young people. Maybe darn young people.
