Colin looks at the remaining free agents in the NFL and why Aaron Rodgers at this point in his career is starting to remind him of Kevin Durant.
He firmly believes Sam Darnold will be better with the Seahawks than Geno Smith was last season and he has the data to prove it

It's The Herd.
Wherever you may be and however you may be listening. Thanks for making us part of your day. We have had a very very strong week of shows, if I may say it, yesterday, I don't know we could top that with Nick Right and Urban Meyer. Man, we were delivering the goods. Great to be here today, you know, I was thinking, you know, sometimes Jmac, some driving to work, I don't listen to anything. I just I stand in my own thoughts, dangerous place. And I because when I get up in the morning, I usually sit for about forty five minutes to an hour, and I kind of peruse some websites. I want to see the headlines, and so when I drive to work, I'm thinking about, you know, trying to kind of assemble stories. And I thought about this when I saw a story will Aaron Rodgers end up with the Steelers? And if not, it'll be Russell Wilson, and I thought, I mean Aaron Rodgers has been reduced to that. Think about this. You know what Aaron Rodgers has become what I compared him to the last four years, He's become Kevin Durant.
Think about it.
Both left incredibly stable organizations, Green Bay and Golden State. All they do is win. They got into their feelings, a little bit of ego. They wanted to play with their buddies. So they go to unstable places, the Jets in Brooklyn, and it's a mess very quickly. They stoke flames with the media. Can't trust me, hot take people, clickbait? Can't I do my own homework? Both if I mentioned this for years, they're both single guys, rich single guys that get older. Nobody at home to hold them accountable. You know, you know what it is, kind of doing their own thing whatever they feel like, surround themselves with people who agree with them. And now both the great Kevin Durant and he's great, and the formerly great Aaron Rodgers, he was great, have been reduced to crossing their fingers hoping they can latch on to a team that can make the playoffs. Both can be funny, both can be charming, Both are all time talents. I think they're both kind of interesting guys. I think I think it's in terms of professional athletes. They have a lot to say and they're interesting. But we have to be fair about Katie and Aaron. Both of those kind of people, and you probably know somebody like this in your life. They're always searching for something. You could have a sister or brother like that. They're they're always sort of a searching for something. Just being successful and winning it's not enough. Both also sometimes to a fault push back on authority. Golden State was good for KD. Green Bay was really good for Aaron Rodgers, and both of in my opinion, hurt their own careers based on poor decisions, the inability to realize how damn good they had it at Golden State in Green Bay.
In life, if.
You can't tell how green your grass is, then everybody else's grass looks really green. And now, because you know, Katie's been banged up a few times, he's getting older, he's not going to be anybody's leader. They've tried that in Phoenix. It doesn't work. Okay, they tried that in Brooklyn.
It didn't work.
He's got to be an accessory. He's got to be a piece. And Aaron Rodgers is probably thirteenth best quarterback in the league, maybe twelfth, maybe fifteen, some would say lower. But you can't build around Aaron Rodgers anymore. And the moral of the story or the lesson in life is, at least as a pro athlete winning a lot, if you're being compensated fairly, it's enough. You got to know how green your grass is, Golden state. I mean you could you could show up, have a bad night and the team wins by twenty.
That's a good life.
I mean that's like for you and I having a bad day at work and you come home and your kids are so great and your wife's so great. You have a great day and yet you had a bad day at work. That's a pretty good life. And I think that's reading that this morning, that it's down to Aaron Rodgers.
This is it.
It could be the New York Giants, it could be the Pittsburgh Steelers. And I'm like, man, we're talking MVP. A few years ago with kad we're talking a few years ago. Is he better than Lebron? And this is what it's been reduced to. Okay, you know, I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, that's up in the corner of the country for the uninitiated, and so this story just cracks me up. And you also know, I like Sam Donald and I don't want to criticize any media people by name.
But the Seahawks.
Signing Sam Donald and letting go of Geno Smith, some of the takes by you media people have been awful. Geno Smith last year had twenty one tds and fifteen picks. He's thirty four. Donald's more mobile. Donald signed an incredibly Seahawk friendly deal. Donald was better than Geno last year. What's all the hysteria? Like, I understand the media falls for stories, but the story has gone from what a great comeback story too? Hey h Smith is irreplaceable? What twenty one touchdowns fifteen picks and he had two good running backs and he had three good receivers and he had a capable tight end. Speaking of comeback stories, media, how about we come back to reality. Donald, seven years younger, had a much better year, much better athlete mobility wise, and that deal Donald signed with the Seahawks. Sam gave away money. He knows the value of being in a good situation. Donald, that's an incredibly Seahawk friendly deal. It's like the Buccaneers Baker deal. It's incredibly team friendly. And in both cases, John Snyder, Seattle, Jason lytton Tampa, you have an elite GMS. This is very much Tampa. You kind of got a quarterback who's B to B plus and you got him for like a C minus contract. So I mean, think about this all. How did you let Geno Smith go? Russell Wilson right now can't really find a job, and in the last two years he's had more touchdown passes in a higher passer rating than Geno Smith. People are you're all freaking out, Like the media just latches onto stories and they can't let go. I'm gonna make a guarantee. This is Colin's personal guarantee or your money back. Darnald will do better than twenty one touchdowns and fifteen picks next year. I don't know how much better. But he's younger, he's a better athlete. He'll make things happen. Off script, I mean, Seattle, last year, third downs are really important, down right, we would all admit that, you me, everybody, Jmack, You'd admit this third down is important. Seattle had Lockett, the Ohio State kid.
We all like.
DK metcalf legit left tackle, two decent backs. The Seahawks were twenty first on third down and oh by the way, the sixth most drives ending in a punt with way better than average weapons in a division where the Niners were falling apart. Arizona's Arizona and the Rams are a year away. Now the Rams are the best team in the division. Rams are better San Francisco rebuilding. I mean, good God. If you go to Geno and Sam Donald's comps last year, across the board, Donald's significantly better.
So I understand the.
Need by writers and bloggers and media people to latch onto the story. But the Geno Smith leaves, Seattle has gone from cool, comeback story, Let's come back to reality. Twenty one touchdowns, fifteen picks, thirty four years old, not as mobile as Darnald. There's an argument, And I like Geno to the Raiders because he's an adult, he's a grown up, He's accurate, he'll move the chains. There's an argument Seattle squeezed just about everything Gino's got. He's probably got one or two decent years. Quarterbacks hit thirty five and thirty six. It just looks different except for Tom Brady, it kind of looks different. I'm not anti Geno, but jsn dk Mettcalf Tyler Lockett, two capable running backs. Noah fen six in the league, and drives inning in punts twenty first in the league on third down, Like come on now, I mean bone Nicks considerably better and was throwing to Courtland Sutton and then just crossing his fingers as a rookie. Take a deep breath, Darnald Gino, I've said, you can argue they're both somewhere between thirteenth and sixteenth.
Best quarterback in the league.
If I get the guy that's seven years younger, more athletic, with a better friendly team deal. Remember Gino wanted forty five. Sam's got like thirty three. I can get two more players, like they're not different enough. Sam Darnold's not gonna give you the Vikings year. He's also not gonna give you a Jets year. Seattle's got a good GM and Sam's gonna play with four more new starters.
That John Snyder drafts. Think about that as well.
Do not.
Under sell Baker signing a team friendly deal. That's why Tampa's got so many good players. Brady didn't break the bank. Baker didn't break the bank. Gino for his skill set at thirty four, wanted a lot more money than Sam got.
All right, Jay Mac, we.
Have Oh, I've got an interesting Mike up Parsons shot at brock Perdy.
You're not gonna hit him with more, you people. I hired a couple of those in the opening ran.
That's a well combative to start the show.
By the way, Boonix and Cortland.
Sutton thirteenth on third down in a division with the Chargers defense and the Chiefs defense. Okay, as a rookie thirteenth on third down and a big with two of the top four defenses.
In the league.
Not bad.
Can I already take you up on your your money back guarantee that you just made with Donald?
So you said, I.
Guarantee you he'll go better than twenty one touchdowns and fifteen pays?
Okay?
So I just looked at Sam Donald's career. Other than last year's outlier with the great Kevin O'Connell. Sam Donald has never thrown twenty one touchdowns in the NFL, and now his top receiver is JSN.
They got rid of two other guys. I don't think he's gonna hit twenty one touchdowns. Do you think you're going to all of a sudden air it out.
No, he's gonna go twenty four and eight, which is way better than twenty one and fifteen. He'll go twenty four and eight. By the way, they have a number one receiver fan two running backs. We know you can find receivers in college. You can find receivers. By the way, because Sam Donald's deal is friendly, you can find receivers at the trade deadline. What if a team is a mess in week seven, then go find You know, the Donald deal is so team friendly it allows you moves potentially at the trade deadline.
You also said they're between the thirteenth and sixteenth best quarterbacks in that whole ball. I hate to break it to you, but I recently went through on my podcast. Yeah, and there neither of them are top fifteen. I mean, there's fifteen better quarterbacks in the league right now, Like Tua. Would you say two was better than both those guys?
I would say two has been more consistent with both those guys, but small, not good, deep concussion issues, and if it's windy, he's not the same player.
I'd take Donald.
I'm just saying, OK, And I also look at Tua. How much you have to pay too, and how much you have to pay Sam.
That factors in.
I mean, there's only a couple quarterbacks in the league where you're like, what's the weather like? And if the answer isn't what you want to hear, you don't get the same player.
So Dak or Gino Smith or Sam Donald, Like, it's got to be Dak. I don't love him, especially not at sixty.
Milo after a second lower body injury, we sure it stack Wow, Oh.
Sam rising the ranks suddenly, no being realistic.
By the way, Jordan Love had a totally up and down season, went twenty five, TD's eleven picks, Sam can't go twenty four and ten, and Jordan Love last year disappointed most of US twenty four and TENSA. I'm not asking I'm not saying thirty six and six, I'm not asking for a Josh Allen I'm not saying twenty nine and four Aaron in his prime. I'm just saying twenty four and ten, twenty four and eleven.
Sam can't do that.
No, by the way, all you Aaron Rodgers fanboys, apparently, Peter Schrager on Good Morning Football Today reported that Aaron Rodgers could take up to four weeks to make a decision.
This stuff is funny. Can you imagine.
Trying to hire somebody, you know, the most important position on your team in a team sport?
Hey, give me a month. What have you been doing?
You were out of the playoff race like three years ago. I mean, what are we doing here? Can you get Can you give me an answer? I'm not I'm not looking for you to play tomorrow. Could you just give me an answer?
Hey?
Again, It's amazing rich single guys. The older they get, the weirder they get.
This is funny.
Micah Parsons took a shot at the forty nine ers in brock Purty. As Micah is watching the Niners having to get rid of all these players because now they have to pay brock Purty and the little tweet by Micah is no more rookie quarterback Lol. Welcome to reality. Yes, yes, yes, brock Purty now lives the same life as every other quarterback in the league. It's a flawed roster, it's an average offensive line. You have a highly compensated receiver coming off surgery, and there's no more money to upgrade. You have to cross your fingers on draft picks. So this is the real NFL. This has been my narrative for years. It's almost like the first time you move out from your parents and you're on your own. Oh wait, my phone bills two hundred and seventy eight dollars a month. I've only got one lamp. Oh I had no idea cutlery costs this much. Mom said, I have to pay for my own car insurance. Yeah, that's called grown up adult. That's a reality. When you get off you know, the parent's dole. So brock Perty has been in this league, you know, three full years, a little bit of a trust fund kid. Not a lot of discomfort. Didn't have to carry anybody, not a lot to overcome. Well, then the second half of last year happened. Left tackles out, McCaffrey's out receiver banged up.
That.
By the way, that's not a hardship. That's called the NFL for a quarterback. That's what Mahomes has been dealing with for three years. That's not a hardship. You having to pay your own car insurance is not a hardship. It's called being an adult. So Mika Parsons is just saying, Okay, remember remember Dak. When Dak came into the league, you guys all fell for it number one on line by a mile. I mean, like Philadelphia's online now just dominant. Zeke was all pro. They got him Amari Cooper short time after that, Cede lamb Oh we eaten and all of a sudden, now you get paid, and you get an injury like brock Purty's gonna get paid, and he's had a couple of injuries. You don't move quite as well, and then all of a sudden you're measured on different stuff. So the other thing to remember, so brock Purty entered the league with the best roster just in.
His division, looking down at everybody.
Now, the Rams have a better roster, Rams have a better quarterback, Rams have a better coach. Purty was zero and two against the Rams last year. So remember how Sean McVay got tired of losing to Kyle Shanahan and moved off golf. Let me tell you something, if brock Perdy gets a new deal the next two years, can't beat McVeigh, That's gonna piss Shanahan off. Whole world changes now when you get paid, expectations go up. McVeigh love golf, and then he couldn't beat his rival. He was winning a lot of games. He got into a super Bowl, he couldn't beat. The Niners tacked him up. Never forget McVeigh and Shanahan maybe buddies. They are intense rivals. And now mcveay has got the better roster, the better quarterback. He won both games last year.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays and noon eastern nin am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio FS one and the iHeartRadio app.
Mike of Parson's coming around on the old de Brock.
Pretty narrative. Things are changing.
It's like Jmack first couple of weeks made mistakes, Nobody cared. Now the Brinks truck stopped by little tougher grading scale than the old Herd.
Update guy, here's Jmack with the news.
This guy stuff that's one, you have a cigar last night or too.
Oh, I'll tell you what happened. Oh no, so I my daughter might as well be a pharmacist. So literally, I say, hey, Dad needs so I want to get a good night's sleep because I got some takes tomorrow. And she goes, oh, magnesium is great, and I'm like, okay, So she, you know, opens up the cabinet and it's you know, seriously, I feel like I'm at CBS and she gives me a magnesium. I fell asleep with my clothes on, woke up with a cat on my shoulder.
I'm like, I don't even know what happened.
I mean, seriously, I've never tried magnesium to go to sleep.
Well yeah, wow, okay, it's effected.
Hey, this is a drug free environment over here. But I went heavy magnesium last night. I honestly I could. I could go UFC octagon for about six rounds right now. Okay, maybe shadow shadow boxing, but I could go in the shadow box.
All right, So let's get start. Listen, there's a lot of fun stuff today. We're starting with the Cleveland Cavaliers. We don't talk about them a ton, but they've won fifteen games in a row for the second time this season season, Colin, why aren't we talking? Why aren't you leading the show? With Donovan Mitchell's dominant Cats there during this fifteen game winning streak, unbelievable numbers fourth and raiding first, and net rating, defensive rating two colent Cleveland Cats.
Mitchell.
I've been saying this all year.
Second best team, the first, the two best teams in the league. And that's not really a third to me. Okay See is not ready for this smoke. Boston won Cleveland two gap to Oklahoma City. Cleveland, Where Oklahoma City is it? Onere of the Lakers? Lebron's out for two weeks, healthy everybody else Lukes eating a Snickers bar, can't defend a chair. No, Cleveland's good. Everybody fell in love with Cleveland two years ago. Cleveland is what Oklahoma City? Oklahoma City this year is Cleveland a year ago that Everybody's like, they're ready and they just needed even Evan Mobley needed to get a little better. They needed more seasoning. They need to play together for another fifty games. Cleveland's the real deal, real beat fifteen wins.
In a row. I mean, would you be shocked if they got to the NBA Finals. No, you think you're.
Got No, there's Bill Simmons thinks they're going to beat the Celtics. I think I was the other day. No, he thinks it's fifty to fifty guy. Yeah, well you can be a Celtic guy and also say Cleveland matches up for is Boston. I think Boston beats Cleveland. But Cleveland's the only team that Boston has to be completely healthy to beat. You can't be missing Holiday with his finger or poor zingis jingis.
Illness is a little to Yeah.
No, you got to have a full staff to beat Cleveland in Cleveland. Cleveland and Boston can score down low, can defend the rim, defend the perimeter. Now Garland's not much of a defender at the point, but they're really good.
Not to quote the great Rick Flair, but I have to to be the man.
You gotta beat the man, right, And I'm not buying the Cavs until they beat Boston in a playoff series. Is it a really good regular season team, but they've got to take down Boston in the playoffs. Nay, yes, but fully healthy Boston in six.
H it's all I know.
It will be one of the better playoff series in a long.
The toast three players on the floor in that series Boston Cats best three in order.
Oh, I think there's three really good players, Tatum, Jalen Brown, and Donovan Mitchell.
And then I think Evan Mobley.
Mobley's good.
He's really good, really good, he.
Said, almost talking yourselves into the Cats. Be careful, Calan. I always looking out for you, all right. Next story, This was a surprise last night. The Bills nabbed Joey Bosa on a one year, twelve point six million dollar deal.
Bosa is only twenty nine now.
He's had an injury history in recent years, but the Bills recently moved on from von Miller, so Bosa fills that void.
At his best, he's better than von Miller. And he's cheap.
Oh heck yeah, yeah, So I think healthy is a question. You know.
Here's the thing. It's the von Miller deal. I didn't like because I thought he was past his prime, and it was a huge deal. This is a one year deal for twelve and a half million bucks. It's a very smart deal. I'm actually surprised there wasn't more of a market because you and I we're on the go, get Miles Garrett, train well, Joey's not Miles Garrett, but when he's healthy, he is a good player.
Oh very good. Is this the kind of move that puts them over the.
Top or we know?
I think they still I think Listen puts them over the top. They they're at the top. They just can't beat one team. Everybody else in the league. Philadelphia, Kansas City ahead, Buffalo's third.
They're fine. I say.
One of the stories of the offseason that nobody's talking about is Kansas City's offensive line.
It wasn't good last year.
Rib It's well, you can't lose Joe Toney and convince me of a better role line. Joe Tony's one of the five most flexible, capable offensive lineman in the sport.
I know people aren't going to want to hear this, but I'm pro, Hey, we need a pitch count, if.
You will, for Bosa during the regular season because I want him healthy in January. Try that's right, Like, I don't care if he's not producing in the regular season. I need him in the playoffs.
And that's all.
This is a release that's smart. GMing on year twelve and a half million good player. Let's say you get twelve games.
Out of him. Okay, all right? Is he planned against Kansas City in the playoffs? I'm good.
That's all the matter.
Final story, Colin, is your Chicago Bears having a monster off season building in the trenches. And now there's some speculation that Ashton Genty, the Barry Sanders clone from Boise State, is going to.
Be the pick for the Bears in the first round.
In fact, Genty is now the betting favorite to land in Chicago. I have a theory about this, but I'll let you go first out. Treman Johnson is the new coach. We know when he was in Detroit. They added Gibbs with the twelfth overall pick to join Montgomery.
A little thunder and lightning action. It worked. Do you buy Genty to the Bears?
Well, I think I'll tell you what a general manager told me last week. When it comes to the first round, especially in a draft that's not great, just take the best player. So I don't think they're saying Genty. I think what the Bears are saying at this point is who's the best player available. I don't think you can get picky. I mean, there are twelve guys in this draft. That's what GMS are telling me. Twelve maybe thirteen players in this draft that are first round players. The average is about seventeen. Most years we're at twelve. So I think you just take the best player available.
Now.
I do think there's going to be a player draft that after the fifteenth. That linebacker Alabama. I think he's gonna end up being a really good player. But I, by and large, I think you just take what's there.
So my theory is the Bears are floating this because they know Genty's a hot commodity for Dallas, for Denver.
Several teams want somebody to move up straight.
Back, but they say, hey, everybody, we're taking Genty.
If you want him, you got to move up there.
Oh and I think the Bears would love to get a couple more picks. You've said this many times. It's a monster running.
Well, listen, there's an I think Genti's the best back, but I think the kid at Carolina he's amazing. He's He's also a ninety of gent maybe more, maybe not. So I can get him and another third round pick. Yeah, yeah, well do that.
DeAndre Swift in the backfield already Roshawn Johnson like they have okay backs. I don't think they need genty there, Colling.
I agree with you.
That's a good that's a good take. Bears want it floated. Bears won another pick.
I'm trying to match your level of hot fiery takes here on a hump, Dick.
Is it Wednesday or Thursday?
Wednesday got magnesium through me?
I woke up. I thought it was in Hawaii.
I'm trying to have a donut every other morning.
Is that?
Is that not good?
Do it?
I can't lecture anybody.
I've had two bags of sour patch kids this morning. This upstairs studio thing is killing me. Like the studio, it's killing me.
You gotta get that summer body ready.
Huh.
Actually, where you're going, someone doesn't exist.
Just whatever.
It's a great city, great American city, the Midwest.
You try it sometimes. Nice people there.
You tell me it's a great place to fly over.
The mid Midwest is where the ree soul of the country is. J Mack with the News.
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the herd Line News.
Oh I saw this. I saw this story, saw this story.
There's a lot of people out there selling this story. NBA is dead seven years it was eleven years, seventy six billion dollar contract. Yeah, I don't think it's dead. I don't think it's going to the emergency room. Owners happy, players happy, Adam Silver happy. If you sell your house for twice what it's worth, you're happy. Forget what happens to do it after so uh oh. The Laker Celtics game, it wasn't even a good game in the second half, scored.
A seven year ratings high.
As the NBA playoffs approach, every sport except the NFL, needs certain brands, certain.
Cities to win.
Last year, Dodgers Yankees had a sixty seven percent increase sixty seven percent World Series ratings increase. By the way, when the Cubs played in Game seven both those series on Fox, it was the highest They had forty million viewers for a baseball game in America.
Forty million.
So Cubs, Yankees, Dodgers Baseball all of a sudden, is cool again in college football. Highest Natty rating in my adult life USC Texas a twenty two and a half. So the NBA today, La Lakers, New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, San Francisco Love their teams, and their teams are all good. Genie Buss said this the other day. She was on a podcast. She said, I had no idea the global impact of Luca. So you put Luca, you put Luca in you know, Los Angeles from Dallas. You put Jimmy Butler Miami to the Warriors, and it's like, whoa, it changes everything. So the Cowboys haven't been to a Super Bowl and what like thirty years doesn't matter, irrelevant. So it's why I've been saying going forward, I can't understand ESPN not signing baseball. The Dodgers are great, the Mets are fascinating, Yankees good, bravez O was good, Cubs just got the best offseason acquisition of the year, Braves, Dodgers, Matt's, Phillies, all the big markets, all the big brands are great. What is the ESPN doing like double down on Bay now? And I'm not a huge baseball guy, right, like, this is the best time to buy baseball and the game now is watchable because at last two hours and thirty six minutes, not three hours and eleven minutes. So here was on the Julian Edelman podcast, here was Genie Buss talking about the Luca move.
Here's geniebo We were not.
Looking to trade Anthony Davis. Dallas contacted us. It was a deal that both sides wanted to make. I didn't anticipate the global impact it would have. I mean, I knew it was going to be a big story in the NBA, but he really is a global superstar.
Yeah, so's I said this the NBA. You gotta have your players in the right spots.
This is baseball.
Bryce Harper in baseball sports Crazy Philadelphia, Judge New York stacked rosters with the Dodgers and the Mets. Braves, Acunya Cubs make a move Southern California, Podraser stacked. Like in baseball NBA, you gotta have the right brands. I mean, I know you all love Boise State, but the bottom line is it's really good when Michigan and Ohio State and Notre Dame end up keep you know. I mean that Michigan Big Ten's explosion the last couple of years is going to pay dividends for years. You want the Big ten in the SEC and those big brands and Notre Dame to be good. So just over time, there everybody except the NFL. You need stars in the right places. NBA is gonna be fine. You don't have to love the NBA, but I mean, this weekend's a great example. I'm watching Michigan Michigan State play tough, watch bad offensive teams. I turn on OKC in Denver and it's like Superstars and it's like it's a great watch. College basketball is fun, but it's a three week sport. NBA is gonna be fine. You got an MVP's battling on another channel, Michigan Michigan State who are struggling to hit a jumper on the other channel. Don't talk yourself into less athletic, less dynamic athletes.
We love March madness for three weeks. NBA's gonna be fine. Didn't have to be your favorite sport.
Just say this out loud. Here's the cities that really loved this sport. New York, LA, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Dallas did. Chicago's led the NBA and attendance for four straight years.
They have a bad product.
If New York, LA, Chicago, Boston, Philly, San Francisco are really into something, I mean, I love college football. Nobody in Philadelphia San Francisco, New York, Boston.
Nobody cares. They don't care about it.
I do.

By the way, Jamak asked a very interesting question related to Aaron Rodgers during the break, but just ask the question for the audience. I want the audience to think about this.
So how long do you think you could lie in a darkness retreat?
Forty five minutes? Oh, maybe an hour and a half. I got a wife, I got a kids, I have responsibilities, I have people that rely on me. I'm not rich, single, and I think the grass is greener in Mars Like I mean, the bottom line is all these Hollywood people that do ayahuasca. Yeah, if you work in a film set three and a half months of years, you do stand up comedy, you're in the creative field.
But like you're not married or like.
You can just disappear for four months, or you can disappear for like six seven days.
Go for it.
Also, I've never needed to find myself. I found myself at like eight. I wanted to be a sportscaster. I wanted to be married by you know, like by the time I'm like mid twenties, I'm like, I think I only want to have kids and get married. I'm not one of these people searching constantly to find my truth. Like I kind of knew what I want. I remember my mom saying when I was eight, she's she was mad at me. One day, she're, you have all the answers. You're eight going on forty five, And I said, hmm, one hundred.
You have no idea how similar we are, Collin. Honestly, that's the kind of attitude I had. I was a little rebellious. I'm assuming you and you knew you wanted to be a journalist.
I knew, and so I listen.
I feel bad for some people that like don't know what they want to be Like, I get it.
I got lucky on that. But it's like I don't. I don't. I'm not.
I don't need iohuasca to unlock anything. Unlock what I spew three hours a day on radio.
What am I gonna get? Am I gonna have better takes?
Like?
What am I trying to find?
Like?
You get what you get with me.
I'm not trying to get better at I'm just come in, work hard, be accountable, be a good partner for everybody here.
That's any question. I get about you a lot.
What's it like with Colin? I'm like, you see what he's on the show. I swear to you that's who he is. If you see him at a movie theater, a Starbucks, wherever, that's who he is.
And they're like, I see him at the gym. Often, I was like, just go say what's up? He's normal, He's not.
I mean, and I'm not saying I'm not saying Aaron Rodgers and Seth Rogan doing ayahuasca. If you're in the creative field and you're a you're like you're you're a creative, you're a producer. I think there's some value in spending a weekend doing iahuasca, throwing up, doing mushrooms in Costa Rica. I think it's experimental, and I think literature and art is experimental. If you're running an accounting firm, just show up to work.
How about ketamine? Have you considered that?
I don't even know what that is?
Yeah, I know, I take I take, I take creating gummies after a workout, and I took what's that thing that starts with an am.
Magnesium last night?
But I mean Aaron Rodgers plays in a structured sport and he basically, according to Peter Schreger, told the Steelers, give me about four weeks.
And I'll have an answer.
You're not a producer in Hollywood, where everything takes forever. I'm gonna I'm doing a project right now. Everything in Hollywood is slow motion. It's brutal. It takes forever to do anything. In the NFL, we have games that are scheduled, OTAs that are scheduled. So you can't just say, hey, I'm Seth Rogan. Seth Rogan's living in a creative world. Adam Sandler, all these artists, they're brilliant, Christopher Nolan, they need to find themselves and what were you saying, Joe, Well, no, no, no, I'm talking Seth Rogan.
The comedian.
He's awesome. Seth Rogan, He's great, he's hysterical.
He needs these creative uh you know, these these flashes of brilliance and go to the dark side and go hide in an Oregon retreat.
Shit.
If I told my wife, Hey, this weekend, I'm doing aahuasca, I'll be puking all weekend and on the toilet, and then next weekend I'm gonna go for a cave for a week, she'd say, I've got an attorney I want you to talk to.
And I'm comfortable with that. Okay.
So I think a very interesting spot in this draft Tennessee first pick, Cleveland second, Giants third, New England fourth.
It's a very interesting spot.
So if you watch free agency, Mike Vrabel for the Patriots has gotten a lot of tough guys, Milton Williams, Harold Landry, Robert Spulane, Morgan, culture guys, tough guys. They haven't they haven't pursued a lot of guys. They're going to help their quarterback Drake May. So that's why I think Travis Hunter to New England makes sense, okay, and they already have too good they have. They went and got a number two cornerback Carleton Davis. They've already got a number one cornerback Christian Gonzalez. They don't need a corner although they could use him in return game and some that. But what they need is dynamic, fun flash, and they're not getting that in free agency. So that leads me to believe that New England's going to go out and get the most dynamic player in the draft because it's the opposite really of what they're accumulating in free agency. And here's Urban Meyer on Travis Hunter.
I would never say this other than that guy, I'd play in both ways. I would trade him. I mean, I've never seen Colline. On a one hundred and sixtieth play of the game, He's blocking guys twenty five thirty yards Dellfield and he at the end of the game he's as strong. I know it's college, and I get that. I'm going to I'm sure some people sayats college is do I get that, But I in my lifetime, I'm not seeing a guy do that.
All right, here's another one I'll throw at you. I don't think this is a take. I think this is common sense. So I said earlier today, I made a guarantee one hundred percent money back guarantee on the show that Gino Smith last year had twenty one touchdowns and fifteen picks for Seattle, and I'm like, all this hysteria, Seattle moved off him. He's thirty four years old. Donald's twenty seven and more athletic. And I said that Jamack, Sam Darnold, I'll guarantee you does better than twenty one and fifteen. So Jmack was like, you think he's gonna throw more than twenty one touchdowns. I'll give you an example. Here are quarterbacks that have thrown for more than twenty one touchdowns in the season, Daniel Jones, Blake Bortles, Mits Trubisky. And Seattle's a good roster and a good organization. They got players here, and John Snyder's one of the better gms. They got a bunch of draft picks. I think they'll find three or four more good players. So Sam Howell two years ago through twenty one touchdown passes, Sam al So Donald can't do that. He's got a number one receiver Noahfense, two good backs. And by the way, name the two teams in the league that never miss on wide receivers.
The Steelers and the Seahawks. They just draft receivers.
Well, I'll just still take the under betting on.
You think he's gonna have fewer than twenty one touchdown passes.
I'll go under. Yeah, I love that game.
By the way, when I go to like the grocery store of my kids, I will always do guess the total, you know, prices right over, prices right thing.
So that's what it feels like. With Donald's twenty one touchdowns. Rush was saying, hey, seventeen games, yes, one touch So.
Thinking about that, we live in a world of seventeen games.
So if Sam just throws one touchdown a game and has a really nice November.
He's at twenty four. If you just do one a game, you think.
That he's never done it in his career other than last year with Justin, Jeff Jeron, Jordan Madison, Kevin O'Connell, never done in his career before, didn't do it with the Jets back in the day, although you know it's the Jets, okay.
Just you're My point is you're making.
Over twenty one touchdowns for Darneld just sound just otherworldly.
Sam through thirty.
Five last year, so let's just take a dozen off him.
A lot of indoor games, by the way, playing in that division Detroit.
Okay, fur the record. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest. If it snows, it's infrequent, and it's late December, September, in October is perfect weather. He plays in a division with warm Arizona Warm LA both inside and San Francisco Mile. He'm not going to play in a lot of snow games, fair see, I mean Seattle gets chilly.
You know about a.
Week struggle to grip the football in the rain.
Now, yeah, my guy doesn't that's your guy, Your guy. It's overcast. Okay, numbers coming down.
I can't.
This is just the first of many NFL bets we're gonna make this season at dead.
I don't know the problem.
I don't hate Doernald. I like him.
Sounds like it since he was a huge fan. You're like Buker and Lebron. I love it, but or you and Tatum go a little bit Well, it's just not you know, it's this again. I'm I'm not I said before Sam got his contract, I said. I didn't say Sam deserved forty five. I said he deserves the Baker contract. That's exactly what he's signed, and that's what I was told Sam's people were willing to negotiate. Sam was like, hey, man, I've been in I've been with the Jets, I've been with Kevin O'Connell. I just want stability and a good roster. So I think Sam and Baker Mayfield deserve a ton of credit. They'd seen the dark side. They're like, I mean, Baker goes to Tampa. It's like I get Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Yeah, I'll take a little less. Sam's like, yeah, Seattle's well built.
