Sam branched out on his own and met with immediate success. His star was born, but then disaster struck. He was suspended for nine years for Cobalt. It was reduced to a five-year ban on suspension. He got his feet back under him, began training in Newcastle again and the winners came, but then a shocking cancer diagnosis and he's battling with that now. At only 37 years of age, he's seen a lot.
