6-30: Mariners win, Seahawks sale and Jim Bowden

View descriptionShare

George Kirby had a masterful night on the mound yesterday and we hear from him and Dan Wilson about going a full eight innings. Plus, Justin Hollander has some words for the 'lunatic fringe' of fans who are criticizing his training staff. While he has the right to speak up for his staff, Gregg doesn't think he made the right choice of wording. For a fanbase that's never tasted a World Series, they have a right to be frustrated. Dan Wilson changed the lineup last night and it worked out well for Cal Raleigh hitting 6th, not to mention the lineup produced 6 runs, the most they've output in 14 games. Gregg would put Cole Young in the 2-hole and contends he's the most valuable player in the lineup right now. Plus, what can Buddy Kennedy offer this team?  Bloomberg published a story about the Seahawks sale, and the first round of bidding was set to end yesterday. The big names out there are not local, but Gregg is hearing there is a local whale in play. Jim Bowden, The Athletic, CBS Sports and Sirius XM tells Gregg that Jerry Dipoto and Justin Hollander are absolutely hands on when it comes to first-time manager Dan Wilson, but it's due to giving him guidance and limiting mistakes, rather than being overbearing. He also breaks down the pitching situation with the piggyback and the 6-man rotation. He thinks the best way to handle Luis Castillo is to put him in the bullpen. Jim also says this is absolutely the Mariners' window and if he were them, he'd be doing anything he could to get the pieces they need to win. He also previews the trade deadline and he would not sit back and wait when it comes to the trade pieces they have. We check your texts and talk to Ian!
