Elliott talks about growing up in Peoria, his pathway to enlisting in the military and deploying to Iraq, and the variety of challenges he faced along the way as well as how he views today's modern age of the military.

Citizen Soldier is a true story about Elliott’s military service and time spent in Iraq. The book chronicles his early days in Peoria to saying goodbye to his wife and children to traveling across the world for deployment.
