On the Sunday of Round 3 of the 1993 AFL season, Channel Nine quietly slipped a new TV show into its schedule – the not so creatively titled ‘The Footy Show’.
Little did we know it was to set off a chain of events that would lead to the media explosion around AFL that has gathered momentum over the ensuing 25 years.

Harvey Silver was charged with putting together the original Sunday morning Footy Show and its success through 1993 sparked a TV war that would last more than a decade. A hungry footy public lapped up this new marriage of TV, footy and entertainment.
