#Stages, pages, screens and more: “Monna ke nku, o llela teng” – “A man is a sheep, he cries silently.” – a group exhibition curated by our guest at the St Lorient Fashion and Art Gallery in Brooklyn, Pta
Guest: Thomas Masingi,Multidisciplinary Visual Artist and Freelance Curator
This Sepedi idiom inspired the title of our exhibition, which explores the complexities of masculinity, vulnerability, and emotional silence. It invites viewers to reflect on societal expectations placed on men and artists alike — touching on themes like toxic masculinity, love, identity, politics, and fatherhood.
The sheep becomes a powerful metaphor: not just for the emotionally burdened man, but also for the overlooked, censored, or “black sheep” of the creative world.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening — your presence and engagement brought the exhibition to life.
If you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, there’s still time. The exhibition runs until May 5th 2025 — come experience the thought-provoking work of:
