57 kilometres south of Mafikeng in the North West, lies a village called Bodibe. It's steeped in history as it's where the Anglo Boer War was fought between 1899 and 1902. Today, the village has a population of about two-thousand people. But residents struggle with poor water supplies, high unemployment and an increased prevalence of HIV / AIDS infections. The elderly here often go hungry due to the extreme levels of poverty. But three times a week, volunteers of the Retshwenyegile Relief Givers' Soup Kitchen meet in Bodibe Village to serve meals mainly to the sick and elderly in the area. SAfm selected this organisation for our 2015 Mandela Day Project. We committed to build a soup kitchen, sink a borehole and start a veggie garden with a host of partners who heeded our call. Later today - we officially hand over the project to the Retshwenyegile Relief Givers Organisation. On the Forum @8 we pay tribute to the many people who have come together to assist in the finalisation our the SAfm Mandela Day Project.
