His career spans over six decades. He's worked as a journalist for publications such as The World, Rand Daily Mail, Golden City Post and Drum magazine, and is a former Press Ombudsman. He has played an important role and has had a valuable contribution in the journalism profession. He has been honoured with many awards, among them, the Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University in 1988, and the Louis Lyons Award for Conscience and Integrity in Journalism in 1982.
