THE FABULISTS is a dramedy procedural series unlike any you've heard before: a heist show where every week two criminal masterminds figure out what it takes to make an ordinary person's life better, all while trying to figure out what it's going to take to keep working together without killing each other. The mysterious company known as The Revisions Department has an unusual business model. They improve people's lives by running strange confidence schemes, ones that help their clients find what's missing in their lives rather than clean out their bank accounts. The mastermind behind these schemes is Harry Finch, the head of the company's creative department. He's been doing this job for years, and is quite good at it. Or at least he used to be... Lately he's found himself in a bit of a rut. He's taking longer and longer with even the simplest of cases. He's schemes aren't coming together the way they once did. And he's stopped being very nice to be around. To remedy the situation, Finch's boss does the unthinkable: he forces him to work with a partner. Specifically, with a young actress named Ashley Vickers. Vickers is everything Finch isn't: instinctive, bold, mischievous, and deeply empathetic. She's someone who's still in love with the in-the-moment rush of a con in a way that Finch hasn't been in years. Needless to say, the dislike is mutual and instantaneous. But the longer they are forced to work together, the more they realize they may, unfortunately, be good for one another. The confidence schemes they put together end up being inspired works of manipulation - elaborate, larger-than-life plays that always leave their audience of one's life dramatically improved.
