Nearly 150 prohibited weapons - including guns, improvised explosive devices, pipe bombs, silencers, stun guns and knives - have been seized north-west of Sydney.

State Crime Command Drug and Firearms Squad detectives discovered the Kurrajong property was allegedly being used to store significant amounts of illicit explosive material and numerous prohibited weapons.

In addition to the the weapons located and seized by specialist police teams, 250kg of ammonium nitrate and various other bomb-making chemicals were found.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested and charged with offences including possession and manufacturing of illegal weapons.

 John Watson, Detective Superintendent, told Jim Wilson the squad detectives weren't surprised what was found.
