The California high-speed rail project is a disaster, and the latest news is not looking good. The project, which was supposed to connect Los Angeles and San Francisco in under three hours, has been plagued by delays, cost overruns, and a lack of progress. Despite the initial promise of a sleek and efficient transportation system, the reality is far from it.

This episode of the podcast delves into the details of the project's struggles, including the fact that after 18 years and $15 billion, there's still no train and no tracks. The project's inspector general estimated that without new financing, the authority will exhaust its current funding resources as soon as December 2027. The speaker also discusses the project's history, from its origins in the 2008 ballot measure Proposition 1A to the current state of affairs.

The conversation also touches on the issue of homelessness and how it's affecting the city of Azusa, where LA Metro is dumping homeless people off trains at night, leading to concerns about safety and crime. The speaker also shares a personal story about trying to get to a trivia night in North Hollywood using LA Metro, only to find that it took over an hour and a half, highlighting the inefficiencies of the system.

If you're interested in learning more about the California high-speed rail project and the issues surrounding it, as well as the impact of LA Metro's policies on the city of Azusa, tune in to this episode to hear the full conversation.
