Earlier this month on The Drew Mariani Show, Drew had a powerful conversation with our friend, Fr. Nicholas Federspiel, about a simple prayer that has become a source of strength for many people:

"I Claim the Protection of the Blood of the Lamb."

Fr. Federspiel first learned this prayer in seminary as a powerful weapon against temptation. Years later, while teaching a parish class on prayer, one of the attendees shared how she had laminated copies of the prayer for everyone in the class. She also gave one to her middle school-aged son, who had been battling discouraging thoughts like, "You're a loser," "No one likes you," and "You'll never amount to anything."

The very next day, after beginning to pray the prayer, her son experienced an immediate sense of peace and relief from those negative thoughts.

Fr. Federspiel explained that the prayer is so powerful because it calls upon Christ's sacrifice on Calvary. The Precious Blood of Jesus reminds us that we are redeemed, loved, and protected. As he shared with Drew, the Blood of Christ is a "crimson fountain" that washes away fear and anxiety and even helps heal divisions within families.

Pope St. John Paul II beautifully taught that "The Blood of Christ is the undeniable proof of the heavenly Father's love for all men, without exception." What a comforting reminder that Christ poured out His Blood for each one of us.
