Why Does the NFL Want Biometric Data of Police Officers?

View descriptionShare

Full Hour | In today’s second hour, Dom continues the Dom Giordano Program by taking some calls and thoughts about the upcoming election. Then, Dom switches over to another story, revealing that the NFL will require volunteer officers to submit biometric date if they’d like to continue working games. Dom jousts with Producer Dan over the topic of biometrics and surveillance, with Dan accepting the inevitability of the technological progress, while Dom stays strong on his refusal to even consider the infusion of biometrics into society.

Then, Dom welcomes Steve Grammas, President of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association, back onto the Dom Giordano Program to discuss a new effort by the NFL to require volunteer officers at their games to submit biometric data. Grammas has been ahead of the curve, speaking out to national media against the implications of requiring such a thing. Grammas points out what and who could use the date for nefarious purposes, and explains what he hopes to see by raising awareness about this new initiative. (Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)
